May 1, 2012The single-player story mode is still astoundingly deep and the challenge tower is an exciting and maddening climb.
-
May 1, 2012There's a lot to love about Mortal Kombat for the PS Vita. The game controls like a dream, the modes and gameplay lend themselves extremely well to short bursts of play, and NetherRealm even included solid online multiplayer gameplay and functionality
-
May 1, 2012I cannot recommend Mortal Kombat highly enough. This is a game that belongs in your Vita's library and the price is just right. For $40 you get everything the console versions had and then some, as new characters fill out an already massive roster and new challenges will test your combat skills. It may not have the stunning in-game visuals of its counterparts, but that is forgivable considering what Warner Bros. has managed to pack into the product.
-
May 1, 2012Confusion over the name aside, Mortal Kombat on the PS Vita is a must-own for any fighting game fan. Not only does it have all of the amazing content from last year's stellar console release, but it also features substantial new modes that are more than worth the $40 asking price. Without a doubt, this is the definitive version of Mortal Kombat!
-
May 2, 2012Mortal Kombat for the PS Vita is truly a wonderful package that outweighs its price tag. There is so much content here it is impossible not to recommend. If you are not a fan of the series or its reboot, this is certainly not going to change your mind, but even if you dropped double-digit hours on the original, the Vita version is worth a go. This will literally be locked in my system for months to come, and I look forward to unlocking everything all over again.
-
May 10, 2012If you've got a Vita and like fighting games, buying Mortal Kombat is an absolute no-brainer. There's so much content here, and it's loads of fun, with lots of depth and plenty of challenge to keep you going long into the upcoming cold winter nights.

Hyper MagazineAug 8, 2012A bursting at the seams port that sets a precedent for future Vita titles. [Sept 2012, p.74]
-
Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)May 30, 2012Even without the Vita-specific additions, however, this is an easy recommendation as the game retains everything that made the franchise reboot an accessible alternative. [July 2012, p.83]
-
May 14, 2012Mortal Kombat on Vita packs the ultra-violent action of the series into your battle-hardened hands, and shows just how hard a punch Vita truly packs. With its $40 asking price for the entire home console game, DLC and large amount of exclusive additional content, Mortal Kombat is an essential Vita title that no fan of the genre should miss.
-
May 10, 2012Mortal Kombat at its best!
-
May 8, 2012It might be a while before a fighting game emerges with a genuinely amazing story, but for now the plight of Raiden and the representatives of Earthrealm is fascinating enough.
-
May 1, 2012The added character roster, new costumes, and extra Challenge Tower should be enough to sway those on the fence. But remember that it's Kombat on the go, so you can show off those fatalities anywhere, and all this content is a mere forty dollars-twenty bucks less than the barebones console copy at its launch-making an already stellar game an unbelievable bargain.
-
May 1, 2012A straight-forward port would have gone over well enough, but NetherRealm went the extra mile and made this a standout, compelling release that I'm happy to recommend.
-
May 1, 2012This is the most complete version of Mortal Kombat available.
-
May 1, 2012This a perfect example of keeping the best graphical fidelity possible and including an already astronomical amount of content, while adding an even more extensive set of missions for players to explore that masterfully uses various features the PS Vita has to offer.
-
May 1, 2012But if you do make the plunge, you will know where that money went, as MK on Vita is a damn good example of how future ports to Sony's handheld should go: dial back the eye candy if you need to, but do not compromise your gameplay or remove features just because it's hard to make them work on a mobile system.
-
May 21, 2012Its new contents are not that important, but will enhance durability for solo players. Its major flaws are the downgrade in graphics and the absence of PlayStation 3 compatibility: you'll have to unlock everything again if you had done it on the PS3. A great fighting game with charming personality that fans of the series will love.
-
May 4, 2012Mortal Kombat shines through as not just the best fighter on Sony's new handheld, but perhaps one of the Vita's best games overall.
-
May 2, 2012Outside of the graphical issues, this is a well-made port overall.
-
May 1, 2012The control is just about right, the graphical presentation is loaded with beautiful animations, the roster is huge, and there's a ton of content. The story is still totally lame, the Challenge Tower can sometimes feel unfairly tough, and the AI is…well, MK AI, but those aren't deal-breakers.
-
May 21, 2012In short : You have to play Mortal Kombat, if you want to have the best beat 'em up for the Vita.
-
May 24, 2012Mortal Kombat on VITA has set the standard for the sheer amount of content that is to be expected from a title like this. This is one of the Vita's best games overall.
-
May 6, 2012Mortal Kombat on the Vita is one of the most impressive games on the device thus far. There are hardly any flaws in the game, and the boatloads of content provided will give fans of the franchise plenty to do while they bide their time waiting for the next big Vita release.
-
May 4, 2012A solid port from a spectacular fighting game that retains all the gore glory and playability from the first episodes of the franchise.
-
Official PlayStation Magazine BeneluxJun 14, 2012The characters support a little less detail, but when the body parts start flying you'll hardly have time to notice. The game runs smoothly at sixty frames per second and everyone who has already spilled gallons of blood on the PS3 will feel right at home. [June 2012, p.98]
-
May 24, 2012Mortal Kombat for PlayStation Vita is a game worth your attention, especially if you haven't had the opportunity to check out last year's "big" MK and you miss the original installments. It's a great reboot - well made, reminiscent of the golden age, has lots of fantastic warriors and some unique bonuses.
-
May 22, 2012Mortal Kombat is recommended to all lovers of the series and genre. The gameplay works great on PS Vita and thanks to the many extras present are guaranteed hours of fun.
-
May 21, 2012This is the best fighting game you can get for the Vita. It's actually the version that appeared for the consoles last year, but there are some new options especially meant for the Vita. They are fun but nothing special.
-
May 1, 2012Gamers expect a perfect Mortal Kombat experience, and it's now available in portable form.
-
May 1, 2012If this is your first time experiencing Netherrealm's MK reboot or simply didn't get your fill last year, then you'll find a ton of great content here.
-
May 1, 2012As a complete package, Mortal Kombat Vita is an impressive piece of software and a near-flawless port from consoles to a handheld. It's one of the best fighters of this generation, magically tailored to work to PlayStation Vita's advantages.
-
Play UKJun 17, 2012With a staggering amount of content packed in, Mortal Kombat Vita not only benefits from the balance patches from the PS3 iteration but makes for the best version when played on the go. [Issue#219, p.78]
-
May 4, 2012Mortal Kombat is a good port and a great option for PS Vita if you don't have the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 version. The NetherRealm game is the same as last year, but full of content: extra Tower Challenges and all the DLC characters available.
-
PSM3 Magazine UKJun 5, 2012Brutally compelling despite its limitations. [July 2012, p.110]
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jul 29, 2012Successful conversion of the original Mortal Kombat proves that battle games aren't yet finished. Great visuals and perfect playability delivers uncompromising fights. [July 2012]
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaJul 4, 2012It's incredibly fast-paced and responsive. Nailing some of the intense combos may twist your fingers off as there are no touchscreen specials except for the X-ray moves that can be initiated once you have a full meter, but fatalities can be executed with finger swipes that match the d-pad inputs. Most of the extra modes, such as Test Your Slice, are gimmicks that either borrow heavily from smartphone games (let's just say you'll slice fruit whilst playing as a ninja) or rely on 'been there, done that' mechanics that use the Vita's hardware. Balancing a man on a beam is old hat, even if he's perilously dangling above a pit. [July 2012, p82]
-
May 30, 2012It's still an exciting, tough fighting game, and it's infinitely preferable to some of the attempts at shaking things up that we saw in the past.
-
May 28, 2012Inarguably one of the finest portable fighting games to have ever been released. Boasting at least twenty hours of single-player content to kick and punch your way through. It's also one of the system's most convincing ports with a platter of mini-games and exclusive features, organically worked into the overall package.
-
May 18, 2012Mortal Kombat on Vita is a solid port of a top-drawer fighter, but little more than that. if you already own the home consle edition, it's pretty much a question of how much the opportunity to play it on the go with added mini-games appeals.
-
May 15, 2012While not being the prettiest girl in the class it has charm and tons of insane minigames made especially for the PS Vita. The gameplay is top notch and ad hoc mode is dead solid. If you are looking for a fun gorefest with tons of great gameplay look no further.
-
May 14, 2012Come for the extreme violence, stay for one of the best single-player experiences in the genre. Mortal Kombat is back and brilliant.
-
May 11, 2012In Mortal Kombat the characters' models are less impressive than those in the original game, but the overall impact is still really good. If you're looking for a good fighting game with tons of extra and a bunch of interesting modes, Mortal Kombat is your best choice.
-
May 3, 2012This MK port is really well done. Even though characters and backgrounds have slightly less impressive visuals than on the original, the inclusion of all the DLCs, and of new mini-games taking advantage of the specs of the Vita is most welcome. If you like the universe and gameplay of MK, then there's no reason not to go for it on the Vita.
-
May 2, 2012Despite a few control issues, Mortal Kombat on the Vita is every bit the great and gruesome fighter as its console counterparts, but with even more bloody content to explore.
-
May 1, 2012In fact, with all the additions, it's the definitive version of Mortal Kombat. That's not bad for a handheld port.
-
May 1, 2012Your enjoyment of Mortal Kombat on Vita will depend on whether or not you've already played the identical console version, and how much you like tapping the touch screen to make people's heads explode. Mortal Kombat remains faithful to its console counterpart, and is an equally entertaining, albeit sometimes uglier, addition to the family.
-
May 15, 2012As the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, Mortal Kombat PS Vita is one of the funniest versus fighting games of Sony's console. If you like bloody battles and fatalities, this reboot of the franchise will keep you awake for a long time. But you must have in mind that the graphics are very raw, probably as raw as a PS2 game.
-
Jun 23, 2012A well-made port that's behaving just right. Because it's the portation of the complete edition of the final instalment you will find all the DLCs here. The end result is that it is a very good fighting game, well-suited for relaxing on your travels.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKJun 18, 2012It suffers from a couple unfortunate problems but counters these with some neat new innovations. [July 2012, p.101]
-
May 21, 2012Mortal Kombat for PS Vita the same enjoyable game as the console versions with a ton of things to do for the lonely player. Unfortunately, the graphics has been really downgraded and the net code could have been better. Still one of the best fighting offerings for the PS Vita.
-
May 7, 2012As a PS Vita game this is no more than a competent port, but as a restatement of one of gaming's most enduring fighters it's still good, dumb fun.
