    The end product is a game that's a load of fun, but only for people with fond memories of running around in circles fighting wave after wave of random encounters. As equal parts homage and parody, Dragon Fantasy works.

    If you've been searching for an excuse to take a trip down memory lane, look no further than Dragon Fantasy: Book I. Muteki Corporation's retro JRPG love-in offers a lengthy adventure that's a perfect fit for the Vita. Its humour, fast-paced gameplay, and endearing style make it especially difficult to put down – particularly if you can look past the tedious emphasis on grinding.

    Dragon Fantasy Book I sticks incredibly close to its early Dragon Quest source material, warts and all.

    Dragon Fantasy Book 1 is a bit of a drag. I like the main characters well enough, but I'm not particularly interested in the glibly presented story or world, and some of the retro JRPG systems are super aggravating or simply mind-numbing.

    I thought that this game was a good throwback to the days of RPGs gone by.. But it did leave me wanting more..

    I found that I was constantly either wandering around wondering what to do because of the often vague quest instruction, or grinding level after level in order to get gear so the next plateau of enemy difficulty won't one shot kill me. I also thought that given the amount of fighting, there was a lack of varied equipment to choose from.

    Thankfully they recently patched in a run button and fixed an issue with not being able to run from battle very easily, because you'll be spending 90% of your time in battle grinding.    … Full Review »

    This is a great little throwback to the era of Dragon Warrior and Dragon Quest, with a humorous twist on the formula. If you liked those old games, you will enjoy Dragon Fantasy.

    Also, the ps3 and Vita versions have a graphical upgrade that makes it look more like a 16 bit game instead of 8 bit.    … Full Review »
