The only good thing in this game - it's graphic. In some moments the game looked really nice.

All other aspects are bad - the characters, the gameplay, the plot.

In my opinion this one is the second worst part after the one with the sunken ship.

This is a really disappointing game as a huge fan of Super Massive and Until Dawn.
For context I've played through the game twice (everyone lives & everyone dies)
    - This is far less scary than their previous work - A far less interesting story, with no twists or turns - A lack of meaningful choice (chapters 1-9 are almost identical regardless of what you do) - You are funneled down

    - The characters are very deep and well fleshed out
    - Beautiful game with a great art style and 80s horror inspired themes

This game is pretty bad. A lot of the dialogues in this game are immersion breaking. Sometimes a character says one thing and the other just responds in a very unnatural way. They also react to the crazy things happening around them very unrealisticly too, sometimes making jokes while in danger.
The gameplay is also disappointing: You get bored to death by the super easy quick time events

The gameplay is also disappointing: You get bored to death by the super easy quick time events but get killed by the enemies in an instant because shooting is way too hard.
A good amount of decisions lead to instant death as well which is super fun and lot of the dialogue choices seem to come out of the blue. There are a ton of scenes that straight up make zero sense. For example when Kaitlyn tries to block the door with a small chair which doesn't even reach the door handle, it would only work with a doorknob anyway.

i signed up for this site just so i can rate this game. I played Until Down, an amazing game. But this quarry is a disappointment ... I bought it for € 55 and will try to sell it for € 45 as soon as possible because I think it will be worth nothing soon.

The "Butterfly Effect" System is also seems less punishing. Felling like no matter what you do to another character in a negative way. doesn't seem to impact any outcome differently.

I would of liked to give it more seeing I love this Dev team. But unfortunately the impact was not there for a game changer in this particular series.

The cast is top tier, the majority of the dialogue is engaging and humorous and the plot overall kept me playing. However, this is not a horror game, it is a pick your path story with some horror tropes. A complete absence of tension and gameplay related risk (Reformatted QTEs are ridiculously easy) make for a pretty spook free experience. Expect an idle experience.

Don't buy it if you don't like horror stories with stereotipycal characters. The game isn't a game after all, there is no point in making decisions if they don't change anything... (the story isn't great either)

Even though, graphics is pretty cool, the plot is an absolute disappointment. Werewolves are looking like freaking recycling of vendigos from the Until dawn.
And wtf is underneath the limits of "you can not use the mode of saving a character" in couch co-op? Are you kidding me? Why?
So, if we were playing as 1 player and were just passing the controller - it's ok, but for the couch co-op - hell no!
And of course, if you finished the game in couch co-op, you can't choose the chapter and play as a single player. I believe these magnificent limitations were designed by

The Quarry is an unfortunate example of a title that falls flat in multiple aspects, leaving players yearning for a more engaging and immersive experience. The game struggles to deliver a compelling gaming experience and leaves much to be desired in terms of gameplay, writing, and overall execution.

One of the most glaring issues with The Quarry is its lackluster gameplay, which leaves players questioning whether it can even be classified as a true video game. The interactions are limited, and the player's agency is severely restricted, resulting in a passive and unengaging experience. The lack of meaningful gameplay mechanics or challenges contributes to a monotonous and unfulfilling journey.

Additionally, the game's difficulty level is disappointingly low, offering little to no challenge for seasoned gamers. Puzzles, if they can even be called that, are elementary at best, and most players will find themselves breezing through the game without any real sense of accomplishment. A lack of challenge can be detrimental to player engagement, as it fails to hold the player's interest and can lead to a sense of boredom and detachment.

The writing in The Quarry leaves much to be desired, as it feels amateurish and lacking in depth. The dialogue and overall narrative seem as though they were penned by a 13-year-old, lacking the maturity and nuance that are crucial for a compelling story. Characters' motivations and emotions come across as shallow and one-dimensional, making it difficult for players to connect with them on a meaningful level.

Furthermore, while the character faces may appear visually appealing at first glance, their animation and movement quickly shatter the illusion. The uncanny valley effect is evident as characters' expressions and body movements feel stiff and unnatural, detracting from the overall visual experience. This lack of attention to detail in character animation undermines the game's attempt at visual storytelling and immersion.

Adding to its lack of immersion, the choices presented in The Quarry do little to impact the overall narrative. Unlike the meaningful choices seen in games from developers like Quantic Dream, where decisions can have significant consequences on the story's outcome, The Quarry's choices seem superficial and fail to leave a lasting impact on the game's direction. This lack of consequence leaves players feeling disconnected from the experience, as their agency feels inconsequential and unimportant.

The culmination of these shortcomings ultimately leads to an anticlimactic and underwhelming ending. With no sense of accomplishment or resolution for players, the conclusion leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, leaving players questioning the time and effort invested in the game. An engaging and satisfying ending is essential to leave players with a lasting impression and a sense of fulfillment, but The Quarry fails to deliver on this front.

In conclusion, The Quarry is a disappointing and lackluster gaming experience that falls short in almost every aspect. The lack of meaningful gameplay, unimpressive writing, awkward character animations, inconsequential choices, and anticlimactic ending combine to create a tedious and unfulfilling journey. As a "videogame," it fails to deliver on the most fundamental elements that make gaming enjoyable, leaving players bored and unsatisfied. Overall, The Quarry is best left untouched, as it offers little value to those seeking a genuinely immersive and captivating gaming experience.

First of all, I had to agree to be spied on, so i played the unpatched version and sound didn't work for the first 45 minutes. next i found a clue or two and then stepped heavily in to excruciating boredom. is the point of this game to waste as much time of the player as possible? The so-called "multiplayer" is passing the controller and online will be voting for choices. False advertising. There is no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, this game will go back to the shelf and collect dust. $70 for a game with no replay value is a cash grab. I don't recommend this boring movie at all. Watch the biblical masterpiece that is Top Gun: Maverick instead for a much cheaper price.

The Quarry does a fine job as a spiritual successor to the renowned Until Dawn, yet takes a few steps forward when it comes to character development and atmosphere building. Unfortunately, it sacrifices a few elements in the process which makes it a not so scary interactive movie more than a video game. Still, for lovers of the genre and Supermassive Games legacy – it’s a treat you should not miss.

This game, or interactive movie if you prefer, is a great experience for horror fans. The story, gameplay (minimalistic as it is) and the acting are some of the best I've seen in this genre yet. While there are some things that do break the immersion, it's still an experience for lovers of visual novels and horror fans alike.

The Quarry sits comfortably near the top of the interactive movie genre. Equal parts clever and terrifying, it earns its ten-hour runtime with a series of twists and turns that are sure to delight. There’s action, romance, comedy, and unbelievably disgusting violence. Supermassive Games have delivered a rollercoaster that serves as a fabulous follow-up to Until Dawn, so anyone who enjoys the genre will be in for one hell of a ride.
