The Last Worker is an underdog story that feels incredibly timely, even more so now than it did a year ago when I first played the game at PAX East. Its themes of corporate corruption and commentary on capitalism are quite sharp, and the game manages to convey all of this without coming off as overly depressing or heavy-handed. Despite some iffy movements on controller, The Last Worker is sure to be one of the year’s best narratives.

The Last Worker delivers in almost all aspects: beautiful aesthetics, great dialogue, and a satisfying gameplay loop all combine to create a genuinely fun title that is much more than what I initially expected.

A witty script and likeable performances make this VR dystopia worth getting immersed in. Out of the oppressive grind emerges a narrative with heart. [Issue#27, p.76]

Despite a few issues with the controls, The Last Worker is a riveting 6-to-8-hour narrative experience. Sorting each box as a pseudo-employee is surprisingly entertaining, and the characters are endearing. There are also twists and turns in the storyline that will keep you gripped throughout this journey, at least until the endings start to play out. With the gorgeous visuals by Mick McMahon, fun gameplay, and meaningful script, I’d happily recommend The Last Worker. You just need to struggle through the awkward controls and some confusing game design.

A strong, compelling narrative that's only made better by great visuals and superb voice acting.

The Last Worker features a well-written story and some smart ideas in regards to its gameplay, offering a solid narrative experience.

The Last Worker is a narrative adventure with satirical overtones and a simple game structure. Unfortunately, the gameplay never quite succeeds. The game should perform best on VR, unfortunately the worst optimized version.

I played the game on psvr2 and had a good time with the it. The clarity of image is great and colours really pop in the headset. The controlsI played the game on psvr2 and had a good time with the it. The clarity of image is great and colours really pop in the headset. The controls could be better - there are a lot of missed opportunities, like you have to push a button, but it must be done with a X on controller instead of using you hand motion. The story, voice acting and overall mood of the game was great. Full Review »
