    Genuinely surprised how much i enjoyed it, and even the dlc. as I was expecting a Deadspace lite. Though, made with hurried broad strokes, as is the increasing trend in modern game development due to rising consumer expectations, cost of development, and shortened release windows, however, the expertly crafted cinematic visuals and audio, coupled with a thought provoking story that wasGenuinely surprised how much i enjoyed it, and even the dlc. as I was expecting a Deadspace lite. Though, made with hurried broad strokes, as is the increasing trend in modern game development due to rising consumer expectations, cost of development, and shortened release windows, however, the expertly crafted cinematic visuals and audio, coupled with a thought provoking story that was obviously meta of the past 3 years, particularly captivated me. Sure, the gameplay loop and enemy variety weren't as meticulously designed and innovative as DS's (more like a cross between DS and Slaughterhouse), but I found myself more gripped by the story beats, which i believe was the main focus this time around, and the gameplay, though more basic, was still sufficiently "Visceral" and fun, particularly once you've unlocked key upgrades and combos. Very pleased by this game. Only way I could've imagined possibly being disappointed is if i had paid the $70 at launch (which they could've offsetted by providing a season pass), but I was so pleased with my first playthrough, I purchased the season pass (which was on sale), and I thoroughly enjoyed the dlc, too! And, no, w/o giving away any spoilers, I do not think it undoes the story or the ending of the main story. It only adds to it.… Expand

    When I first saw the reviews of this game I got really confused because it looked awesome. I decided to wait for a sale and finally picked it up. It was an absolute blast. Some of the best gore I have ever seen in a game, a great and captivating story, fantastic visuals and a really spooky ambiance. I don't get the hate this game have been getting.     I really enjoyed the game and don't really understand the negative criticism. It has great sound design, a dark and brutal story, some jumpscares and everything I wish for in a horror game. Yes, Dead Space had more variety in it. But still, I had a lot of fun with Callisto Protocol.

    I did not have any expectations after all the hate that this game received, but hear me out I Loved It! I enjoyed every single minute of the game!

    Graphic: Top notch! Beautiful! Sound: Masterpiece! Kudos to the sound team. Story: Solid and pretty straightforward story for a horror action game. Nothing outstanding but also nothing to hate here. Combat: It took me some time to figure    I did not have any expectations after all the hate that this game received, but hear me out I Loved It!     To summarize: Solid 8/10. It is a good game and definitely does not deserve the hate and low scores! I hope the devs will not be discouraged from doing similar projects!

    We are so tired of empty open worlds with 100+ hours of repetitive gameplay. I'd rather have solid 10-15 hours of intense experience like in The Callisto Protocol.    … Expand

Неймовірно чудова графіка (навіть на PS4), атмосфера та анімація, цікава бойовка та дуже класно поставлені кат-сцени. Це все, що треба для якісного сай-фай сурвайвола.     sci fi survival horror game with good atmosphere and mechanics similar to dead space franchise, even the story is prety damn similar, aliens in space and some virus taking over the dead moon callisto, in a prison where previously some evil corporation made experiments with those aliens resulting a deadly virus outbreak. Alright campaign and extra modes and dlc. 9/10

    The Callisto Protocol is a bloody spectacle! I finished it on the hardest difficulty, Maximum Security. Great challenge at times. A nice combination of most of my favourite survival horror games such as The Last of Us, Resi 4, The Evil Within. My only nit-pick is that I would have liked it to be a few hours longer. 9/10

    Un juego que recibió críticas negativas en su lanzamiento por tener problemas de rendimiento óptimo tanto en consolas como en PC, a día de hoy el juego corre perfectamente y todo funciona correcto, es un muy buen juego con unos excelentes gráficos, una buena historia de escape y supervivencia, una jugabilidad buena aunque hay momentos puntuales que el personaje pierde fluidez es uno de losUn juego que recibió críticas negativas en su lanzamiento por tener problemas de rendimiento óptimo tanto en consolas como en PC, a día de hoy el juego corre perfectamente y todo funciona correcto, es un muy buen juego con unos excelentes gráficos, una buena historia de escape y supervivencia, una jugabilidad buena aunque hay momentos puntuales que el personaje pierde fluidez es uno de los aspectos que podían haber mejorado, además de una de las partes que se hace algo repetitiva, me refiero a cuando salen unos infectados que son ciegos y solo "oyen" abusan del número y son muy fáciles de matar yendo todo el rato agachado, otra de las partes a mejorar hubiera sido ofrecer otros jefes, ya que repiten hasta 4 veces el mismo, quitando estos aspectos el juego tiene muchísimo potencial, está bien hecho, se nota esmero y dedicación en los escenarios, el juego se esfuerza en sorprenderte con más de un susto, te metes muy fácilmente en la piel del personaje y se disfruta progresando, te dan diferentes opciones para matar a los infectados, desde la porra, utilizando las armas de fuego y/o utilizando el entorno con el GAR (un dispositivo de agarre y lanzamiento muy chulo) en definitiva este juego ha sido para mí injustamente maltratado, lo he podido terminar además con su dlc de historia y no puedo decir más que merece y mucho la pena, mi plataforma de juego ha sido en PS5 y he decir que las funciones del dualsense están perfectamente implementadas, se siente genial además lo jugué también con los cascos 3D y el sonido ambiente del juego la verdad que es una pasada, le doy un 9 sin lugar a dudas y recomiendo a quien le guste este tipo de juegos a lo Dead Space que lo juegue porque se va a dar cuenta a lo poco que está ante un auténtico juegazo de survival/horror… Expand

    Bought it on release and didnt had any time playing it but right now i just started NG+ really love this game. Nice graphics, nice gameplay and really love the fight mechanics and the way Jacob interacts with his surroundings to finish enemys off. Great story. 10/10

    The callisto protocol is truly an underrated gem! It brought back the slow paces survival horror with an engaging mysterious story, well designed combat and to notch graphics and audio design. I can't wait for the DLC, I really hope there will be a sequel it deserves it.

    It has been a long time since I have enjoyed a horror game so much. I love the game's mechanics, graphics, and story. I score based on how much I enjoyed the game and this is the most important factor in a video game. I don’t understand how many people did not like it

    A fun and tense foray into the horror genre!

    Honestly, the biggest issue for me was the pacing. It's a shorter game, and despite this, I found I was getting a bit bored around the midpoint. I wanted the story to pick up, to give me more clues as to the happenings of Black Iron Prison, not explore yet another creepy corridor or force me to beat yet another wave upon endless wave of    A fun and tense foray into the horror genre!

    Oh, and the melee combat... I have such a love-hate relationship with the Dodge! I hated it at first, but as the game progressed, I noticed it was a dance. Once you learn the steps, you're fine! But that learning curve is brutal!

    Regardless of the above cons, I was satisfied with the outcome. I do hope that the upcoming DLC will explore and/or explain the ending a little more.

    Josh Duhamel plays both a likeable and sympathetic Jacob. All of the acting is superb. The graphics are outstanding. The sound design is next level, so make sure you have great headphones. The scares are...not really that scary, if you're familiar with the genre. But the death animations had even me squirming!

    Side note: It's quite obvious that The Callisto Protocol is a love letter to the Alien franchise. The UJC Charon looks so much like the Nostromo! And I truly laughed out loud when the line "In space, no one can hear...your stomach growl," was said. Absolute perfection!

    I hope it gets a sequel.    … Expand

    I rate this game 10 stars because I genuinely believe it deserves it. Yes, it has some flaws here and there, but the overall experience is so good that I can forgive them. The graphics are stunning, the plot is decent, and the gameplay is addictive and rewarding. I highly recommend it, especially at such a discount.

    Definitely got it's flaws, but I think it was treated unfairly, it's a really fun survival horror for Resident Evil 4 fans, with gorgeous graphics, nice level design and fun gameplay, The story is cliche and not very interesting, I admit, but it's still a good experience nonetheless. Maybe after a few years it will be remembered as an underrated gem like Days Gone?

    Don't believe the hate. This game is excellent! Probably the most exhilarating survival horror game I've ever played. I feel bad that it's stuck in Dead Spaces shadow but it is what it is. Anyways this game is great! Give it a chance!

    Everything is good except that the combat gets really "messy" when there are more than one enemy at the same time. I don't know how to explain it in a good way, but the enemies kind of take turn hitting you, which just feels wrong and this also makes the game to easy when you just know how to dodge properly.

    Maybe a played this game after some of the issues were fixed, but my only real gripe is the amount of crawling and squeezing through passageways in the game. Combat is good, story is good, and the graphics are on another level. This is what a next gen game should look like.

    Gameplay is not on par with Dead Space Remake, but it's still great and Ill be coming back for the story DLC

    The thing we all have to do over and over in a video-game is what matters most. For some games it’s puzzles, for other games it’s climbing, parkour, fast gunplay, or platforming. In Callisto Protocol, it’s melee and shooting. And it has to be fun, right? Well, it is!! It’s FUN as hell!! Plus it looks STUNNING!! Wanna compare it to the Dead Space Remake? Ok; Dead Space has great shooting and cheap melee combat. The Callisto Protocol has great melee combat and good shooting.     The Callisto Protocol may had a rough launch, but after so many patches, Fixes and upgrades to the gameplay, I am happy to say that The Callisto Protocol is now a lot better. Overall, I really enjoyed this game. The Gameplay, the third person shooting, the story, the characters, the environments and especially the graphics are all excellent. While I did enjoy the Melee close quarter combat, the dodge mechanics were a bit off, and I did have a lot of fun with the Third person shooting although it focused way more on Resident Evil 2 Remake's gameplay than of Dead space's gameplay. Overall it's a great game. I had a good time with the game, and If you haven't checked out the game, I highly recommend you to Buy and play the game now. But maybe wait a bit more after the PC version has been patched. Even the death animations are awesome and extremely brutal than Mortal Kombat.… Expand

    Steht Dead Space in nichts nach. Ist halt ein anderes Spiel, man kann es nicht vergleichen.

The graphics are incredible, the sound design is the best there is, the story really comes together at the end revealing a lot, the cinematography and the way the camera moves makes you feel like your watching a cinematic masterpiece. All of these things really do make the game feel like a unique experience. There are some issues however, those issues being the combat system at times can feel a little clunky but honestly was not as bad as people are making it out to be. The save system is pretty pointless as if you save the game where you want it will just take you back to your last checkpoint determined by the game. However at most I maybe lost a minute or two so it really wasn't that bad but is still something to address. The performance was good 95% of the time with the occasional frame drop in stuttering happening. I went in knowing what the reviews typically were and honestly I can see how some people may be disappointed but the super low scores seem very unfair. Are there flaws? Yes. But nothing that would make the game as bad as people are saying. I think this is a very solid foundation if another is made. The voice acting is great as well and the dialogue all works well together. There are things that can be improved for sure but overall I would definitely recommend this.… Expand

Feeling of the world is great, new combat system takes something from original, but I had more fun on higher difficulties, where the little pieces came together and I didnt really mind that there is not many variations of enemies.     I truly just don’t understand the hate. As someone who played every dead space, I think this does a great job of introducing the genre to next gen. Amazing visuals, fun combat, and insanely awesome atmosphere. I’m fully convinced the mass gamer base is braindead. They hate on games like this but then buy the same call of duty or madden every year.

    Everything about The Callisto Protocol is about immersion, survival, horror and the weight of moral choices we make in life. It's a great horror game and wonderfully linear. Great and solid start to a new intellectual property. Now it's to see what the developers can improve in a future sequel! ;)

    Bon on doit pas tous jouer au même jeu ... dans la ligne droite de DS, cet op spirituel est très réussi, quelques lourdeurs comme chaque jeu de cette trempe, il est beau , intéressant, bien écrit même si déjà vu...quel est le problème ?!     Don‘t expect Dead Space! :-) In some Situations it looks like Dead Space but it delivers a different experience and that is great!

    The presentation (Audio/Video) is awesome and consistent. For example I really like the 3D Printers and character model design.

    Also the mix of melee and ranged combat is cool but there are some situations/enemies where it is a bit problematic. The enemies with 2 heads are just beatable with enough ammo (let me know if I‘m wrong - just havent found a way to kill it without ammo). And there could be more different enemies and the story is a bit too short.

    I really enjoyed the game so for me it is somewhere between 8 and 9.    … Expand

    Really enjoyed this game just as much as the Dead Space remake, it’s not exactly what I was expecting but with it being a new ip I suppose I should have not tried to expect anything I’ve played previously! It’s engaging, challenging, panic inducing and absolutely beautiful to look at, recommended

    First of all The Callisto protocol is not as bad as people make it out to be. The game does a great job at immersing you in its environment with sounds and visuals coming together making eerie creepy vibe. The story is okay , but nothing game changing. Combat is good , the dodge mechanic is not as bad as nerds made it seem. There's only one downside playing on PS5 is that I have to chose between 30fps and high visuals and 60fps and mediocre visuals, which makes me sad. No doubt that if hardcore gamers were able to experience this, they would immediately point out these flaws and the game turn out to be a masterpiece. Now the other thing: melee - the big fuzz everyone is talking about, how it's flawed and etc. This is where my initial comment about the game stands out: that it's for specific players who enjoy thinking outside the box. I play all the games like Resident Evil, The Last of Us, etc. on hardest possible difficulty because only then you appreciate the beauty of the game and the needs to think outside the box. I played The Callisto Protocol on Maximum Security difficulty and aside from the tedious beginning where I still was learning the controls, I had no issues of keeping a ample supply of supplies and just playing the game, the way it's meant to be played. The melee becomes tedious, yes, if you don't think outside the box. When you start to realize that you can grab enemies or even ordinary large objects to use them as a shield vs ranged enemy attacks, that you can bait the enemy near the hazard, shoot them for stun and then use heavy melee attack to bash them flying right into hazard, that you can use the ordinary objects like cans, laundry boxes, etc. to fling them at enemies to deal damage and stun them for a melee hit... it opens up the creativity level of approaching encounters. That's why I enjoyed this game so much and just can't stand the crybabies who want more shooting and less melee to be a dead space clone.… Expand

    Brilliant atmosphere, combat was fun and very tense. Graphics are some of the best I've ever seen, main downside for me was the enemy variety, and a few 'janky' moments here and there with enemies. Hoping for a sequel as it has laid good ground with the story.

Were the devs pressured to release the game before the Dead Space remake?     I consider story ok although I understand why some people might be disappointed in that regard. It's a simple story but a one that makes sense. You don't get to save the world. Your task is to survive, help your (not too numerous) buddies and get the hell out of Callisto. That's more less what everyone would do in similar circumstances.

    Gameplay is subpar while combat is just comically bad. Jacob is slow and to add insult to the injury most of the time game doesn't allow you to run. The movement is clunky even in performance mode. Camera is bad. Fighting numerous enemies is impossible. Dodging doesn't work. You can't move while in combat, can't turn back and run away to bide your time and approach the encounter in different way. Instead Jacob just stands there and swings with the baton occasionally shooting mutants. If your run out of ammo it takes forever to reload and it's close to impossible to switch weapon in the heat of the action. GRP is ok but battery longevity is way too short. Overall combat sounds and looks straight bizzare. I recommend playing the game on easy difficulty to spare yourself frustration. I played it on easy and I kind of enjoyed the ride hence relatively high grade.    … Expand

    Most negatice reviews from losers haven‘t even played the game, but i did and it‘s a masterpiece.

    Callisto protocol is a very good game, I feel that it immerses me in a scary atmosphere. This game knows how to generate a feeling of despair to face the horrors of that prison. The combat system is brutal and aggressive, just the way I like it.

    I genuinely don’t understand the hate this title is given. The graphics are beautiful and immersive. The game play is fun, visceral, and exactly what I expected. If you’re a fan of this genre, I highly recommend to check this game out. I’ve had a lot of fun with it.

    I got into the game with no explanation, and i was left amazed with this IP. The gameplay was solid, the story was very interesting, the characters where well written. At first I hate Dani for being so annoying, but later understood why. The graphics! OMG. There's not a game currently out that can compare with the level of graphics this game has. Maybe Horizon forbidden west?

    Amazing motion capture and voice acting. Graphics are out of this world. Intense and satisfying combat though clunky at first. Decent story, not too short or bloated of a runtime and sets up a sequel nicely. Only experienced one bug which made audio very distorted for 2 seconds and never again. Would definitely recommend buying it at any price!

Plot was pretty threadbare, but the characters were likeable and engaging. It was definitely more of an action game than a horror game, which I get could be disappointing for some people, but I personally didn't mind. Plus, I think there were some really great atmosphere and tension-building sections (such as the tunnels in the Below chapter, or the Habitat area). It's definitely not a perfect game, it has some issues (underdeveloped plot, poor checkpointing, lack of boss fights/puzzles), but those issues paled in comparison to what the game got right in my opinion (amazing presentation, likeable characters, fun combat). Hope the game does well enough to get a sequel to iron out the issues. Will definitely dive back in when New Game Plus comes out in February, and am looking forward to the upcoming story DLC.… Expand

    My true score would be an 8, but to counter all the unfair,low hate or dislike scores I give it a 10.

Now I've played through it, I'm in utter disbelief as to how this wasn't rated higher as it's the most fun I've had all year on PS5 alongside Elden Ring. I can't express how much fun the combat is!     My favourite game of 2022 - played this 3 times and enjoyed it more each time I played - some of the reviews are absolutely rubbish for this game - once u mastered the combat there is lods of fun to be had - the atmosphere and graphics are second to none - just a masterpiece

    No idea why this game is not getting the acclaim it deserves. Its simply stunning in places, the set pieces are thrilling the sound design and atmosphere is brutally unsettling. Combat for me is brilliant once you get the timing right. A classic of sci fi horror. Get some decent headphones, turn the lights off and crank it up.     Ich Werte das Spiel so hoch da es bei mir keinerlei Probleme gemacht hat außer ohne Day One Patch da schmiert es regelmäßig ab.

    Grafik und Syncro finde ich angenehm und auch das Gameplay geht gut von der Hand.

    Gegruselt hat es mich überhaupt nicht. Dennoch ein anständiges Spiel

    I loved it. The story was good, I had fun playing it, and was invested in the characters, especially Dani, which is funny because I kinda hated her at first.

Usually in horror survival games, you tend to run and hide from enemies, but there are some many ways to eliminate enemies that I offend found myself trying to clear the room, stomping on all my enemies to check if they drop anything interesting.

    -Awesome graphics.
    -It's not too long, which is a good thing when you do have a life (job, wife, grownup stuff). Also, if you are into going in through the hardest, it will be less overwhelming.

    No! It is not a Dead Space truly successor, but that's ok in my opinion. It checks all the right boxes for it to be a fun game and to have a nice experience.
    I suggest you guys to play it on Maximum Security difficulty and drop the difficulty if it really gets too overwhelming.    … Expand

    Great game. 2-3 bugs at release, ok. But the feeling and the atmosphere is amazing. You always feel like you could die wherever you go. So the slow movement works really good!

    I really liked it!

    It's a good game, indeed it could be done better, but the atmosphere, the fact that you are fighting to escape alive from prison is very captivating

    What can I say about Callisto let’s start with the graphics and audio . Which is absolutely amazing Very few video games do as good as this . As far as controls go I had to tweak the sensitivity for the aim and look speed since the enemies are way too quick for your character to keep up with by the time I turn around I was already dead. The combat is very straightforward and to the point, dodge and attack with some other elements to kill the enemies .. story is a bit jumbled but you get hints of little clues of what is going on as you find audio tapes and other clues later in game . Overall some tight areas which make keeping track of monsters behind you hard .. things attacking more than once make it hard to continue to dodge .( I am playing on the hardest difficulty by the way) so it takes a lot to kill things.. healing does take a bit of time with lengthy animation of him kneeling down which I don’t understand why would you need to kneel down to inject your neck .? But ok .. the tightness of gameplay in cramped areas has its downside making it extremely difficult to keep up with more than one enemy . Again that can be due to difficulty Which is fine and realistic in’s a sense .

    I feel at times callisto tries hard to be scary with jump scares and other things which audio to me gives off I feel I expect a lot and predict what is gonna happen at times , though even still very beautiful and audio absolutely amazing! At times Lip sync in certain cases don’t line up and turns out worse than those dubbed 1970/80s kung fu movies Even with all these gripes which are fixable and have been improved slightly it is still a decent straightforward action game with amazing visuals . I would recommend it    … Expand

    Callisto Protocol makes some mistakes, but in general computing the good wins by far. It is true that it is somewhat angry to see that something with so much potential has not been fully squeezed, but what it offers is already much more than most. We trust that combat system that we have loved and its setting to make the game worthwhile and we would love to see a second installment.

    A visually beautiful sci-fi experience which, surprisingly, doesn’t resort to simply cloning Dead Space. The difficulty and the fear factor both don’t reach the heights I’d expect, however. A shame! It could have been extraordinary.
