Street Fighter 6 honestly feels like the best game of the series in every facet possible. The long term will prove or disprove this though as these games tend to morph and change over their lifetime. But for this game to take that title, it’s done everything right from the outset to cement its legacy as the best of the best. This game is a recommendation for people interested in fighting games at any level, go check it out now.

Street Fighter 6 is the most feature-rich, welcoming, and inclusive package ever crafted for a fighting game—a stylish reassertion of creative dominance for the series that started it all, and an endlessly rewarding new foundation for its future.

From the mechanics to the characters, and even the visual flourishes that adorn every attack, Street Fighter 6 is peak fighting games. This is a traditional, grounded fighter that feels entirely modern and fresh thanks to the Drive Gauge and everything that surrounds it. No mechanic or meter feels wasted, everything in Street Figher 6 has been honed to a fine point. This will be the best fighting game of 2023, and perhaps even of the generation.

Everything feels carefully considered for those jumping into Street Fighter 6 as their first game in the series. But at the same time, there's clearly a ton to dig into for those who want to keep playing on deeper and more dedicated levels. Street Fighter 6 is just pure fun, and every punch hits hard, every kick feels great, and it's just so cool to look at. It's the most fun I've had with Street Fighter in years, and the great, hard hitting start to a powerful new era for the franchise.

Capcom has given us a complete game right out of the box. The single player experiences are enormous. The online experience is perfect. Street Fighter lore is littered in every nook and cranny of this game. There are modes and modes within modes. This is one of the best Street Fighter games in the history of the franchise. If Capcom hurt you in the past, this is their apology. Street Fighter 6 is a new classic that people will be playing for years to come.

The series feels revitalized with so much genuine care and craft having been put into this entry. Every facet of Street Fighter 6 oozes confidence, and for a good reason too – every mode that it offers just feels great.

As a fighting game, Street Fighter 6 is pretty much flawless, but it’s the little details across the board that make it clear that this is a fighter for everyone and not just fans of the genre. A wild statement for a series that’s always felt more hardcore and impenetrable than the rest. Whether you’re a newcomer playing with Modern controls or a veteran with a fight stick and a vendetta, Street Fighter 6 feels like the most approachable and welcoming fighter I’ve ever played without ever once sacrificing its potential complexity and fighting spirit.

Whether you're a hardcore fighting game player or a casual Street Fighter fan who hasn't touched the series for a generation or so, Street Fighter 6 has something for you and, not only that, manages to offer enough reason for both sides to dip their toes into the other side's water. It's a strong package – arguably the best overall fighting game package ever made – but it'd all be for naught if the fighting system that underpins it all wasn't up to much. It just happens to be the most flexible, versatile and expressive combat in a Street Fighter game to date. Street Fighter 6 is a perfect place to start or a brilliant continuation, an exceptional time for those who are looking to play 30 hours or 3000 hours.

Street Fighter 6 is an exceedingly good fighting game. But more than that, it’s an excellent training tool. It’s a fulfilling adventure. It’s a lively community gathering place. It’s an endearingly idealistic and inspiring world of appreciation for martial arts and friendly competition, exceptionally executed in every respect.

Capcom may have made significant mistakes in the development of Street Fighter V, but it’s clear they were determined not to repeat them with Street Fighter 6. I can’t remember the last time a fighting game offered such a complete package, with something for every type of player. Combine that with best-in-class mechanics and a visual identity that truly sets it apart, and Street Fighter 6 is everything fighting game fans have been dreaming of. There’s no need to put your quarter on the machine to save your spot anymore. With Street Fighter 6, we can all have next.

It's not even about whether it's better than other fighting games, as it's really more about the bigger picture. Street Fighter 6 creates an environment for all other fighting games and communities to thrive, and so regardless of personal preferences, we all win. It takes everything great about the franchise and delivers more, so depending on what you're looking for from the experience; there's something here for you. Street Fighter 6 is an incredible celebration of previous releases and a confident stride into the future. The new Drive System adds a multitude of layers to combat making fights the best they have ever been. Capcom’s new approach to single-player content with the World Tour is weird and wonderful even if it can get a little repetitive. The community-focused approach to online play is a step above its competitors and the amount of content is insane. Not only is Street Fighter 6 a worthy sequel, but it's also the best fighter to date.

This time there will be no debate. With Street Fighter 6, Capcom has managed to bring together the two audiences under one banner: experts in the discipline as well as laymen. There is something for everyone, the game being deep enough for VS Fighting specialists and intelligently accessible for newbies who are just starting out. Less zoning, more aggressiveness, this new iteration has also boosted its gameplay to adapt to all player profiles.

Street Fighter 6 is proof that this is the best Capcom we've seen in the last decade. This game is a turning point for the franchise, obviously designed in order to bring in new players but, at the same time, it keeps the legacy that made veteran players fall in love with it back in the day. Street Fighter 6 is actually Capcom's atonement, and it shows that the developer cares about fan feedback; this may be a little step forward for Capcom, but it certainly is a defining moment for fighting games.

Street Fighter 6 has made me the happiest I’ve been with a game in quite some time. As somebody who always wanted to play fighting games but whose neurodivergence prevented them, the new Modern controls and consistent approachability is simply joyous. Brimming with personality, immensely gratifying, and packed with a shocking amount of content, I’m still rather shocked by exactly how hooked I’ve become. Street Fighter 6 simply lives up to the hype. From its smooth graphics and fresh presentation to its approachable controls and intricate fighting system, pretty much everything is on point. Not only is the Battle Hub a fantastic multiplayer venue for online play, but World Tour is a revelation. It’s clear Capcom has learned many lessons from Street Fighter 5 and has poured everything it could into this sequel. And in today’s age of modern, live-service gaming, it’s rare to see a game like this come out of the gate swinging with tons of content. In what marks a triumphant comeback for the series, Street Fighter 6 sets a new standard for all future fighting games to come.

Street Fighter games are always benchmark moments for the 2D fighting game genre, but Street Fighter 6 feels extra special. The Drive System is an incredible addition to the fighting mechanics that gives you a veritable Swiss Army knife of options and meter-management decisions right from the start of every single round, the starting roster is the best Street Fighter has ever seen, its online netcode through three betas has been impeccable so far, and the number of smaller details that it nails right out of the gate is unprecedented. It’s so good that even the poor story and extremely slow progression of the single-player World Tour amounts to only a jab’s worth of damage on its metaphorical health bar. Whether you’re completely new to fighting games or are a seasoned vet, Street Fighter 6 is a must play.

I can't get enough of Street Fighter 6. It's been my last thought when I go to bed and my first thought when I wake up. It has a beautifully constructed fighting system, but also offers modes that take the game very seriously and, in other cases, not seriously at all. There are some small issues with performance in World Tour, but none of those are enough to derail the overall package. With the releases of new Tekken and Mortal Kombat games, it very much feels like we're in a new golden era for the fighting game genre. Thankfully, Street Fighter 6 steps into the arena looking good and fighting fit.

Street Fighter 6 is an absolute humdinger of a sequel. Capcom has created a fighting system that has all of the tactical depth professional players expect but managed to make it fairly easy for casuals to wrap their heads around. Not only that, it’s introduced smart ways to onboard newcomers, including a simplified control scheme and a great suite of tutorials, which even extend to the impressively enjoyable RPG-inspired single player story mode. A strong roster of starting characters, near-flawless rollback netcode, and a seemingly never-ending selection of content – including interactive online lobbies with playable retro games – round out another unbelievably impressive effort from the seemingly unstoppable Japanese publisher.
  77. 90
Street Fighter 6 feels like a celebration of fighting games as a whole, offering newcomers one of the most in-depth onboarding programs ever seen in the form of the new World Tour mode and showing them what makes the FGC so special in the Battle Hub that awaits them when they're ready.

Street Fighter 6 is a much more complete experience than SFV. The two headlines that make this game something worthy are the simplification of the combat system for new players and the change in the combat mechanics so that the counters are the new base for the duels to be much more spectacular and dramatic. The arcade and story modes are entertaining but could be improved or extended to make them more fun. Overall, we have a great Street Fighter installment that will be enjoyable for a long time. Capcom listened to the community, and those who buy this video game will feel like they are paying for a whole experience.

Street Fighter 6 makes a serious effort to bring all those departing players back in - and I think it has what it takes to succeed. Online the game is more social, the story mode is great if you're not competitive and the modern controls make the game more accessible. This has what it takes to become the big EVO tournament sport again.

Street Fighter 6 is a big improvement for the franchise, and a reminder that Capcom is the best in the genre. The gameplay is as crisp and engaging as it has ever been, and the amount of modes included in the game will keep players busy for quite some time.

Street Fighter 6 boasts a superb combat system and provides a lot of freedom in terms of developing your character. Unlike Street Fighter 5, it offers many game modes from the get-go, but unfortunately World Tour is not as interesting as Capcom had us believe it would be. On the other hand, Arcade features excellent environments and pretty character models, but disappoints with its story. Despite those downsides it is a great game smartly designed to be both accessible to newcomers and appealing to veterans.

Street Fighter 6 is not perfect, but it is revolutionary. It manages to cater to so many tastes and expectations, without dropping the ball that the developers deserve all the praise they get. Of course, some of the fan favorites all not in the initial roster, but this probably will be addressed by the nowadays mandatory Battle Pass. But, just this once, instead of crying wolf about the greed of publishers we have to admit that we are pleasantly surprised by all the content included in Street Fighter 6. Whether you are a fan of fighting games or not, this is one title you should not miss.

Street Fighter 6 provides the fast and furious action you’d expect from the refined fighting series, offering a dynamic cast of characters, new control modes to make it more accessible, and a variety of features to keep you busy. Its story mode is a campy take on the Street Fighter universe that doesn’t always land the winning blow, however; while it’s filled with distractions and civilian fighters to take on, it can be a little repetitive and shallow. Still, the technical foundations that Street Fighter stands on are as solid as ever, and with a whole world to battle online, there’s a lot of fighting on the menu in what is once again a polished, exciting fighting experience that will keep fans engaged for years.

Street Fighter 6 is a redemptive sequel that’s more complete and has a distinct style. Street Fighter 5 did eventually get better, but Street Fighter 6 has come out the gate swinging with a suite of deep mechanics with more intuitive ways to learn and master all of them. The single-player modes are lacking, and, in World Tour’s case, disastrous, but it’s a strong fighting game that packs quite a punch.

Capcom deserves congratulations for Street Fighter 6, which addresses and resolves many of the issues found in previous editions and fulfills numerous requests from the community. This game appeals to a wide audience, catering to both casual fans and dedicated players who have invested years into the franchise. The new fighting system strikes a balance, offering accessibility while still providing depth for those seeking a challenge. The fast-paced gameplay, innovative Drive System, and diverse control options foster experimentation and generate excitement for both players and spectators. While not flawless, particularly in the new World Tour mode, it doesn't diminish the fact that Street Fighter 6 is undoubtedly one of the best entries in the series.

Street Fighter 6 in it's simplest form remains a fantastic, fun experience, retaining the same gameplay that has been tweaked and improved throughout the years to ensure it remains top of the pile. Jarring attempts to meet the needs of young players alongside a World Tour mode that fails to meet the hype placed upon it however, stop this from being an essential purchase. Stick to Arcade Mode and enjoy what made this franchise so great in the first place. A fantastic fighter is there, just buried under the fluff.

If you’re the type who loves a grind and enjoys the prospect of wailing on a bunch of civilians to make numbers go up, this mode has that. If you want to play through some really fun stories featuring your favorite Street Fighter heroes and villains, that’s one of World Tour’s biggest draws. But if you’re interested in a tight, satisfying fighting game experience, World Tour isn’t quite that, and it sucks because a mode geared toward people who don’t want to be FGC experts shouldn’t so often feel frustrating and insurmountable for reasons that go beyond how fighting games typically play. I wonder if World Tour will put more casual fans off at least as much as it draws them in.

In an age of an overwhelming quantity of content in every type of media, it sounds almost ridiculous to suggest someone spend a good chunk of their time with a fighting game, laboring over it for weeks, months, or even years. But for players willing to give it a go, learning how to create your own music, in the form of digital street fights, can be as satisfactory and rewarding as few things in life are. Street Fighter 6 is the biggest and most approachable package in the franchise to date, waiting for you with open, gentle arms. [Polygon Recommends]

In a more critical, review-like sense, World Tour is also kind of tedious. If you think those Yakuza games can be dull and repetitive, then know that this is like one of those if there was less going on and fewer things to do. But the actual fighting feels nice. It’s as springy and energetic as ever, and there’s a “modern” control scheme that makes it play more like one of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. games. Playing with that setup won’t really teach you “real” Street Fighter and it might be a hindrance in competitive fighting, but it still requires managing your preferred distance to an opponent, knowing what your character’s moves will do, and knowing what your opponent’s moves will do. There’s still an art to it.

World Tour adds something completely new. It both gives long-time fans a new way to experience these characters and newcomers an introduction to the franchise, and really the genre as a whole. But there’s still one thing even Street Fighter 6 can’t solve — this cramping in my hands.

The music is terrible compared to previous SF titles, and while the graphics are nice and detailed, the character designs are pretty bad. Most of them anyway.

The new World Tour mode is the biggest new addition, but it outstays its welcome, and mostly just feels like a grind. It has a story, though it's as generic as they get.

This game is plagued by battle passes (or Fighting Passes, as they call them), which makes playing the game feel like a grind, and the rewards are terrible, though that's probably for the better.

The game would be so much better if they just scrapped the battle passes, had better art direction and music. World Tour is also an unnecessary feature in my opinion, and the time and effort spent on creating it could have been better spent elsewhere.
