South Park: Snow Day!

South Park: Snow Day! is recommended to South Park fans as a kind of additional episode, providing good moments of fun. However, it is short and raises questions about the real need for changes to the known formula among its recent games. It doesn't have much impact, but it offers what is necessary to entertain.

South Park Snow Day tries to once again change the reference genre of the franchise by moving towards the rogue-like: the cyclical setting, however, is undermined by an underlying repetitiveness and runs with little content and an overly confusing battle system. Also slapped in the face by a technical sector not up to the requirements, the winning ideas are not many and they are all linked to a narrative in line with the series. Fans of the South Park universe will have something to enjoy, especially thanks to the selling price of Snow Day (29.99 euros), but after The Stick of Truth and Scontri Di Recti it was reasonable to expect something more.

Continuing Ubisoft's game series, South Park: Snow Day is a roguelike that may unsettle long-time fans due to significant changes. Now featuring 3D visuals and cooperative gameplay, the title sacrifices much of the show's essence to become more accessible, but it leaves behind something that made Cartman and his friends unforgettable: consistency.

South Park: Snow Day! Is a decent attempt at ‘’mixing things up’’, changing genres and stepping into a 3D plane, but it falls somewhat short of reaching that milestone of excellence. With its shallow gameplay and repetitive and poorly balanced combat, Snow Day!’s only saving grace is its 4-player co-op. It’s great for South Park fans, too.

An alright little adventure for South Park fans or for those wanting a casual game to play with friends, South Park: Snow Day has all the charm of an episode of the show, but its roguelite nature becomes a tad frustrating with wild difficulty spikes and a lack of checkpoints. Chock full of references and jokes without filter, the game is definitely entertaining; but with a lack of a roadmap or post-release content, some players may be left in the cold thanks to a short story and repetitive loop.

A sporadically fun co-op brawler, South Park: Snow Day is a step back for the franchise. Card collecting and gag-filled combat will keep fans entertained, but there are plenty of better ways to have good times with weapons.

Compared with how much I loved the past two South Park games, I am deeply disappointed with Snow Day. Mindless, boring and repetitive, this game could have really been a cool and different entry into the franchise. Instead, the art style, combat and story leave the player wanting so much more. Playing in co-op is fun for a time and while the music can be excellent, the game just makes me long for another RPG style South Park game. Mmkay.
