No hubo un solo combate en que un boss me pusiera contra las cuerdas (o que siquiera requiriese esfuerzo), incluso debía desequiparme continuamente las habilidades del tipo "más experiencia" para no sobrelevelearme accidentalmente, aunque todo el resto de la experiencia de juego es tan gratificante que se lo perdono, el único motivo para no dar un 10/10 es la falta de un modo difícil (o sería más pertinente un modo normal, llamando dificultad historia a la aventura actual, aunque lo del nombre es lo de menos)    … Expand

    no le tenia mucha fe al principio para ser honesto, lo único que me llamaba la antención eran los graficos pero despues de 90 horas puedo decir que este juego es una joya que cualquiera que les guste los jrpgs debería probarlo, me gustaría que el primer octopath traveler también estuviera en ps5 porque me quedo con muchas ganas de jugarlo.

    I'm about 3/4 hours in, and I see that most people absolutely love the game. This is a shame because i belong to the minority group who just can't enjoy this game. Indeed the graphics (shoutout to the beautiful map too) and soundtrack are amazing. The combat is decent (altho special attacks or finishing moves would have made the experience even more satisfying), and the ailment, enemy andI'm about 3/4 hours in, and I see that most people absolutely love the game. This is a shame because i belong to the minority group who just can't enjoy this game. Indeed the graphics (shoutout to the beautiful map too) and soundtrack are amazing. The combat is decent (altho special attacks or finishing moves would have made the experience even more satisfying), and the ailment, enemy and equipment variety are satisfactory. However, the story structure is bizarre, the writing is not very exciting or gripping/good at making me care. Additionally, i dont like the amount + manner of encountering enemies (enemies are invisible or something). 74/100 atm but i'll come back… Expand

    Este jprg es impresionante con un estilo visual único, personajes cautivadores, música excelente y combates emocionantes. Una verdadera joya que supera las expectativas dejadas por el primer Octopath.

    With beautiful graphics and one of the best ost I've heard, it improves on everything from the first one, with a deeper and more strategic combat and with much more endearing characters and stories than the first one.

    Best jrpg of this year, a deep combat system with a lot of customization that encourages experimentation, beautiful graphics and fantastic OST and stories and characters much better carried than in the previous one.

    The arc of suspense between the individual characters and their episodes is fantastic. Another highlight is the terrific soundtrack of the game!
    The classic turn-based combat system ala Final Fantasy does the rest. Add to that the fantastic look of Traveler 2. Rounded off, the game turns into my personal top 10 JRPGs.     Octopath Traveler 2 takes everything great from the first game while fixing its issues. The turn based combat is one of the best out there, combined with an amazing job system that gives a lot of depth. Random encounters are fast and fun, while bosses need tactics and can be challenging. At no point of the game I needed to grind (except optional super boss).

    Characters and stories are absolute peak. All 8 travelers are so different, offer so many aspects and each story is at least great. The best ones are absolutely phenomenal, while even the weakest character arc is still good.

    The music is one of the best Soundtracks ever. Each character theme fits so well and grows on you while experiencing their stories.

    It also feels way more like you are in an actual party now, due to the combined chapters plus the final chapter which combines everyones story. This was missing in the first one and is totally nailing it in the 2nd one.

    The only issue I can see are the first chapters. Most players will collect all characters first, most players will play all first chapters to get the proper character introduction, which can lead to the feeling of playing the tutorial 8x in total. But overall, it is one of the best JRPGs ever created.    … Expand

    Allow me to be hyperbolic for a moment and say that this is the best iteration of a turn-based RPG since Chrono Trigger. It may even be just *as* good as Chrono Trigger, along with much of the Dragon Quest series. But as a fan of the original (faults and all), there is so much to truly love about this game that has elevated it so high.     I'll be honest, I've invested at least 70h into this game and it feels like time waste.

    Main story doesn't exist in this game, there are stories for each one of 8 characters, but it's doesn't make much sense anyways and they're pretty generic if not just crap.     Things people complain about: "The paths still don't intertwine until the end" Did you forget about crossed paths and travel banter? "The characters in the tavern don't gain EXP" If that's making you under-leveled then you're playing the game wrong. "Boss    This game improves on the original in every way.     A very solid game that delivers easily 60+ hours of gameplay, only held back by some repetition and subpar writing at times for some of the chapters.

    From what I've read, this is an improvement from the first game in almost everything. I haven't played the first game, but this one was on this system and needed a new game to play, and definitely a solid game.     Pros
    - Great music and usage of it. So many different styles of music blended into this game to each of the travelers. Also very well done on how each song varies in the day/night cycle. I've spent some time just listening to the song and listening the oppositive version in the day/night cycle. Plus the final battles theme song and how that blends in for each character. some of the best music i've heard in a video game in awhile
    -Art/animation also very well done. great character design, and like how the main boss fights have the enemy be larger to show importance. I do wish they had more artwork in the game/character portraits because its so good
    -battles are well done and I found to use most of the items (some games u rarely use items and just end up with useless stuff). Only some of the enemies did get somewhat repetitive though
    -The voice acting is really good, with my favs probably being partitio and ochette
    -Overall stories are well done, I think my ranking of them would be (partitio, ochette, hikari, casitti, agnea, tenemos, throne, osvald) reason for that is throne's last chapter I didn't care for at all and there wasn't much lead up for something like that, osvald monologues too much and his final chapter is honestly a let down as I thought that fight was too easy. Tenemos's story isn't bad but he can be annoying at times/too much monologuing. Agnea's story made me laugh and cheer for her at moments and I like her character overall. Casitti's story starts out slow and I really didn't like the beginning as she just MONOLOGUES and is bland, but gets really better as it goes on as you connect the dots, has a fun final boss fight, and generally how she's like the mother to the whole party. Hikari's story is just well done even if it's been kinda done before, and he has some of the best fights in the game. Ochette is very funny through the whole game and I like each chapter of her story. Partitio though he's the best, best voice acting, fun boss battles, and his story does help a lot of people in the game and you want him to succeed. plus he tries to stay positive and see the good in everyone.

    Cons
    -too many random battles
    -you don't need to grind in this game which is great, but this game does feel too easy at times, maybe I would play this game again if they added a new game plus that makes the game somewhat harder.
    -The game can be very long, even I don't really feel like finishing up the side stories to fight the final boss, but that's okay
    -some of the chapters have some subpar writing (throne's last chapter was the worst one for me)
    - some of the charact'er's day/night actions to interact with others are either way too useful or just pointless outside of specific moments in their story (like why use hikari's to pay for info when you can just use casitti's to get that info for free, same with why use temenos's if u can just use casitti), same for why use partitio to pay for stuff when you can just use throne to steal the items... that's where you can kind of metagame it way too easily and not really feel any pressure of doing so, because even if you fail too many times you just go to tavern and pay a small fee (the money is very easy to make especially if you have partitio as your main).

    Overall though a solid 8/10 game for me, and well worth the playthrough and full price.    … Expand

    An improvement on every single aspect when compared to it's predecessor. Very pretty and unique art style. The gameplay is quite customizable and there are many different ways to integrate a different strategy. The difficulty leaves something to desire, though, imho.
    I had to constantly run away from wild battles as I easily over leveled in my playthrough.     Yet another amazing RPG from Square Enix.

    Little to no performance issues, an amazing turn based combat system, beautiful pixel art character designs, and eight amazing characters each with their own story make this game a must play for RPG enthusiasts.

    I enjoyed it. Not perfect. I found that it did a lot of what the first game well, and even built upon it. But what the first game didn't do well, while there were minor improvements, nothing major.

    The soundtrack is great. Graphics are great at times, but I think would benefit from having the characters have actual faces (even if just in the menu or something).     Game play wise I have a couple criticisms:
    1. There are way too many random fights. Even if you get the skill to lessen them, they're still REALLY frequent.
    2. They have the same primary jobs. I wish these were at least somewhat different.
    3. It would also be nice if the map was more involved. Like just finding the tavern can be a pain sometimes. Small quality of life improvement would be indicating that on the map somewhere.

    That said, I really enjoyed it, and think it mostly has major improvements on the first one.    … Expand

    Si jugaste al uno y eres de los que te gustaba aquellos juegos de rol a turnos de los de antaño con su toque pixel art moderno JUEGALO. Historias encantadoras. Combates dibertidos, mapa grande y hermoso. A mi me toca la fibra este juego. A veces rasca en fps cuando t mueves por ciudades y tal, pero nada molesto. ES UN P**O JUEGAZO!!!!!! No le doy un 10 por que no inventa nada nuevo en elSi jugaste al uno y eres de los que te gustaba aquellos juegos de rol a turnos de los de antaño con su toque pixel art moderno JUEGALO.     So far this is the best game ive played in 2023 and possibly since Elden Ring over a year ago. I love the characters, the stories are enjoyable, the art design is sublime and love the customization with the job system. Highly recommend.

    Octopath Traveler 2 is a completionist's dream. I had endless fun beating all 8 travelers stories, getting all of the jobs, and finding all of the rusty weapons and inventor's items. All 8 stories were equally compelling and the dialogue was excellent.. Also the mu and art style were both great

    Its basically just the first game with a slightly different story. The innovations in turn based cant stave off the boredom, and the different stories do not intersect at all. Its like your party doesnt even talk to eachother

    Feeling sad that I finally finish this game. 93 hours including 2 final secret boss. The last 10 hours was repeating and thinking how to kill the secret boss that I hate the mossssssssssssst in the turn based game in my gaming history. But it was a good experience.

    Better than the first one in every way. The music, gameplay, map, and obviously the story of every characters.     Better than the first one in every way. The music, gameplay, map, and obviously the story of every characters. Octopath Traveler 1 story was quite bad for some certain characters, but this one, they able to link every one into the final story, and stories was dark as usual like the first one.

    Didn't regret choose to play on PS5, the loading time is much better than switch that my friend play at. For anyone who like to turn based RPG game, you should definitely get this one. Regret for not getting the collector edition. The soundtrack is amazing in this game!    … Expand

    The frequent battles also contributed to a sluggish early game that has you trek from town to town to find all eight companions. These new party members will likely be under-leveled and under-equipped, and it takes some grinding to unlock good skills for them. Once you commit to four or five characters, however, you'll find Octopath Traveler II to be an engaging and rewarding adventure for JPRG fans.

    Octopath Traveler 2 doesn’t try to add new stuff just for the sake of it. It’s more of a refinement of the formula presented by the first installment. The strong narrative and the amazing gameplay make it a wonderful experience once more, especially when coupled with its beautiful graphics and sound design.
