Aside from a few minor annoyances, this game was pretty fun up until the final boss, but then it's all ruined because of the fact that you're forced into using all 8 main characters during the fight.
This wouldn't have been an issue if this was like any other normal RPG, where all party members gain EXP and whatnot even if they're not actively participating in battles, but in Octopath

This wouldn't have been an issue if this was like any other normal RPG, where all party members gain EXP and whatnot even if they're not actively participating in battles, but in Octopath Traveler II, they get NOTHING if they're part of your standby team.
In other words, unless you go out of your way to spend tons of hours on farming EXP and JP to level them up separately from your main team, they're going to be severely underpowered by the end of the game, and you will inevitably be unable to defeat the final boss because of it.
I get why the developer wants all the main characters to participate in the conclusive battle, but it's stupid beyond belief that they wouldn't add such a basic function as EXP sharing if that was the idea from the start. The way it's handled now just turns the game into a tedious and unnecessary grindfest, and it makes it really hard for me to find any motivation to continue playing.

There aren't any difficulty or accessibility options in the game either, so it's not possible to make things any easier that way.

If there's ever an Octopath Traveler III, I won't be buying it unless I'm sure the developer has handled this issue better.

    Enemies are hard and slow-paced.
    Dark backgrounds and unattractive characters
    Bosses are unnaturally large.

Boring as can possibly be. Overpriced for the assets used by about 30$. DNB

    Boring honestly
I love TB genre games but they are definitely slow. P5 is amazing. Engage was fast paced with getting u to battles enough to not be boring either.
So…. there is far too much talking going on in this game. Its a TB game made for annoying extroverts. Your gameplay is constantly interrupted for chatty kathy time. It comes off as overly “listen to me” needy. Shoot me. For the

For the price, they could bring graphic fidelity up a lot too, instead of trying to say its just the art style. Ya, just like when apple stopped including charges with new phones because they are going more green. (Im an ex apple corp employee and never will go back to those tyrants). So gullible. Better as a 29$ game or even 19$.

I'll be honest, I've invested at least 70h into this game and it feels like time waste.

Main story doesn't exist in this game, there are stories for each one of 8 characters, but it's doesn't make much sense anyways and they're pretty generic if not just crap. Turn based combat feels ok at first, but after some time it gets boring and repetitive and if I could I would just skip it all

I'm a fan of FF series and other turn bases jrpgs but this one feels a lot like a cash grab.

Must admit that the soundtrack is pretty decent, but other than that I can't force myself to finish it and it's a shame.

Fell asleep 5 times in a day trying to get into this. First turn based game that actually ever gets me tired. I think the characters need to shut up a lot more and let us play. And as other stated the low fidelity for the price is outrageous. Stupid game tbh

Its basically just the first game with a slightly different story. The innovations in turn based cant stave off the boredom, and the different stories do not intersect at all. Its like your party doesnt even talk to eachother

Octopath Traveler II expands and improves upon the established formula of the original game in incredible new ways that will appeal to JRPG fans old and new.

The frequent battles also contributed to a sluggish early game that has you trek from town to town to find all eight companions. These new party members will likely be under-leveled and under-equipped, and it takes some grinding to unlock good skills for them. Once you commit to four or five characters, however, you'll find Octopath Traveler II to be an engaging and rewarding adventure for JPRG fans.

Octopath Traveler 2 doesn’t try to add new stuff just for the sake of it. It’s more of a refinement of the formula presented by the first installment. The strong narrative and the amazing gameplay make it a wonderful experience once more, especially when coupled with its beautiful graphics and sound design.
