Like the sport it portrays, MLB The Show 22 will take a very long season to show me its real virtues. But the short-term successes I’ve already had make it enticing to see that season through to the end. I am sure that repeated commentary, rote animations, and inexplicable simulation results will nag at me come September. I’m also sure that I will still be playing this game in October.

It’d probably be reductive to describe many of MLB The Show 22’s improvements as the kind of thing you’d expect to find in patch notes, but it’s still somewhat true. The gameplay feels better than ever, and we really like the additions to March to October as well as the Mini Seasons mode in Diamond Dynasty. But while this is undoubtedly a streamlined, enhanced version of the already excellent MLB The Show 21, casual players will struggle to spot the difference – and, frankly, some aspects of the series are really beginning to tire.

Don't listen to most of these positive reviews they're paid shills. This year's MLB The Show is hands down the biggest money grab I've seen them release. Everything in Diamond Dynasty (DD) has been "condensed" according to SDS; in truth they simply removed 2/3 of previous years content. In years past you could earn in game currency at a fairly decent rate, this year it's slowed to a snails crawl. If you have an Xbox get it for free on gamepass otherwise I'd pass on this turd and just load up 21. Full Review »

MLB the show 22 may not be a huge improvement over 21. Graphics look the same. Which means they still look amazing. New commentary is solidMLB the show 22 may not be a huge improvement over 21. Graphics look the same. Which means they still look amazing. New commentary is solid and refreshing in my opinion. Guess time will tell how repetitive it will feel. Hopefully they'll continue to add to it. The atmosphere in general just feels better. I like the idea of the coop, especially since it's cross platform. I only play franchise typically. Nothing new there really but wasn't expecting much. Overall, it's not a huge difference for me and what I experience, but it won't disappoint anyone looking for an awesome baseball game.
