MLB The Show 22 is enjoyable and its gameplay divinely effective and delicious. The additions to this 2022 version reinforce the simulation aspect, without being too complicated for newbies. MLB The Show not only makes us play baseball on our console, but also makes the sport live, putting us in an incredible way in the world of pitching, running and home runs.

MLB the show 22 may not be a huge improvement over 21. Graphics look the same. Which means they still look amazing. New commentary is solid and refreshing in my opinion. Really the graphics and animations are dated. There is no simulation feel to it. I got lost in 21 and had fun but this is way to the same and I'm selling it for sure. This was the last sports franchise I cared about but diamond dynasty has went stale for this player and the other modes get boring quick!

As far as gameplay goes, The Show 22 is the best sports game on the market. I used to love the NBA 2K series but I can’t play that series anymore. There’s some minor bugs like occasional inaccurate commentary and I’ve also had the news ticker at the bottom of the screen get stuck on the same piece of news and just repeat itself over and over. I feel like those could be easy fixes though. As long as the gameplays remains as is, I plan on playing this game a lot. Expand

Should be called MLB Diamond Dynasty 22 because that's all they care about. It gets a 1 instead of a 0 like last year because at the very least, DD doesn't infect RTTS as much as last year.

But as far as RTTS goes, they claimed they listened to us, but yet still insist on the ridiculous "Ballplayer". Nobody asked for that, nobody wanted it, and yet they still insist upon it. Same with archetypes. Same with "loadouts". Also, does anybody really care about these podcasts? It's the laziest storytelling of a career mode I've ever seen.

Franchise and graphics are minimally touched this year. They weren't even going to do a pre launch feature on franchise until there was significant backlash.

Commentary is changed. For the worse. Many people, including me, no longer have the option of the announcers saying their name like in years past.

This is still a glorified card collecting game. There's no reason I should have to collect these little fake card packs to significantly improve my player in RTTS.

I firmly believe the motto at SDS is "All Roads Lead to DD" and its saddening to think about. These fake card collecting modes have ruined every single sports game.

Best game since 2016. Don't listen to these morons with the negative reviews. I've been a critic of the game for a long time. The game runs much smoother this year. The change in the commentary booth is a breath of fresh air. Futhermore, the presentation is much improved. I'm more of a franchise guy, but I can't wait to give Road to The Show another go.

Paid for early access and the game was broken on multiple fronts. Servers disconnecting you. Wins counting as losses. Conquest wins not registering. I paid extra money to beta test the game for the studio's real target launch date.

Additionally, commentary is different but worse. Franchise has been nearly untouched. And DD XP and stub rewards have been massively nerfed. Shame

    Thoughts-
MLB The Show 22 is arguably the most notable leap the series has taken in recent memory. Perhaps a result of the influx of new blood from going multiplatform last year, it seems like Sony San Diego is really trying to make the most out of this era of the franchise’s history where more eyes are on them than ever before. Outside of a few small gripes I do have with the somewhat clunky career mode, a mediocre soundtrack, and awkward character expressions that can subtract from the fantasy at times, this is yet another damn fine baseball game from Sony San Diego that isn’t quite a home run, but still manages to fly deep enough into left field to put some more points on the board.

The computer AI in RttS is absolutely horrendous, and the fact that you have very little control over things in your career in RttS outside of the random call from your in-game agent asking if you want a trade shows that MLB The Show is well behind NBA2k and even Madden in regard to this style of game play,

The only things the game directors and producers are concerned are micro transactions and multiplayer and it’s showing in how poorly set up the single player modes are.

MLB The Show 22 is still a great game of ball, but one that is stating to slow down as it ages. San Diego Studio has been able to innovate in the past, and I hope they get around to addressing some of the weaknesses next time around. Whether that's through going full current-gen or delivering a fresh approach to Road to the Show, there is room for improvement.

MLB The Show 22 is still among the highest forms of video game baseball available … right along with the game that came before it. It still plays exquisitely, and it's still definitely worth your time if you've never really experienced the series before. For veterans, however, this could be the moment where the game just feels … sort of "there," and the only big difference you'll notice is that this year's cover guy probably should have been last year's cover guy.

There’s something to be said about not messing with something that’s working just fine. The Show 22 is a familiar product for better and for worse. The ball game is as solid as ever, but the video game entry fails to offer something truly new for PlayStation owners who bought last year’s installment, while its most noticeable change doesn’t really help matters.
