    Fighting is amazing, visuals are awesome, gameplay is stellar. Combos are dope as well as the easy battle system. Was very surprised this would be a good game. However Disney continues to pander to the female antagonists and don’t ever use men anymore. Seems sexist.

    there was nothing for the game. but the amazing dialogs, good gameplay and plot made me forget about the technical problems (potentially the game had its release well in advance). no doubt it would be a potential goty winner if it weren't for that.

    К сожалению, игра далеко не идеальна - ТУХЛАЯ боевка, репитативность, некоторая затянутость за знаком минус.     По порядку - драчки максимально пресные, без глубины, тактики, интересных механик и прочего. Даже с учетом особенностей дуалсенса не ощущалась стрельба, удары, взрывы и т д, будто 20ч месишь тряпичные марли - удовольствие ниже среднего, бегаешь и прожимаешь абилки команды, местами прям ну супер уныло было. Разнообразие противников так же оставляет желать лучшего - кучка рескинов. Битвы с боссами такие же скучные, как и с рядовыми противниками.
    Головоломок и загадок нет, весь геймплей сводится к беганию между комнатками, и просмотром кинца, или слушанию трындежа (хотя трындеж порой годный), и пострелушками.
    Некоторые локации затянуты, битвы так же затянуты, куча устаревших геймдизайнерских решений, вроде БЕСКОНЕЧНЫХ узких проходов, покатых крыш, вентиляций и прочих непотребностей.
    Как ни странно, но даже с учетом всех минусов - один из претендентов на игру года, но опять же, с учетом общей тухлости 2021 на крутые релизы, а так же за отсутствие в проекте современных болячек ААА-индустрии, в виде лутбоксов, сервисных помоек, донатных скинов, ускорителей прокачки и всякого другого мусора.    … Expand

    Fun game with some of the best dialogue I’ve heard from a video game in a verrrry long time. I hope SE uses this as the benchmark for all their future superhero games because this is significantly better than Avengers by about 15 and a half country miles.

    I really wish they would make more games like this. I did have some qualms, but it definitely seems like the developers really loved the comics/movies and threw everything they could in to make the game cooler.

    The graphics are outstanding. All of the environments are well done and seeing the characters move through them each with individual animations is great. The facial animation is absolutely top notch and made me realize how much harder the emotional moments hit when you can see tears welling in someone's eyes. Impressive.

    The combat is pretty cool as well, it definitely pushes you toward using the other Guardians abilities which gets to be really fun without being overly complicated (four abilities each is perfect). I wasn't really a fan of the way they implemented the "huddle" feature because it grinds the combat to a halt when you start it. Once the music kicks in and everyone is boosted that is awesome, but maybe cut out the talking and decision making bit.

    Excellent music with some songs that really surprised me and fit perfectly with the Guardians vibe from the movies. The voice acting was mostly great-Star Lord's voice was really irritating for about three quarters of the game, but it grew on me by the end. For some reason he kept reminding me of Bill from Bill & Ted.

    The story was good, with lots of Guardians characters showing up and some real funny moments. The decision system does make me want to play through it again and I think It does help that the characters talk almost non stop while on every mission, even if it does lead to some cheesy lines and jokes that fall flat. It's a constant reminder that these are actual characters that you are traveling with and not just extra guns to have around.

    It should also be said that the game felt incredibly long. Every level seemed to stretch on forever without much narrative reason. I was really ready for the game to be over about half way through. It does have quite a few high points paced well throughout, but there are definitely bits that drag.

    The only other real quick PSA: I didn't like the character design for Gamora or Drax, there were times when it really brought the game down for me. But, in the early chapters (3&4) you can pick up their 2014 Movie outfits that are way better.    … Expand

    The game does everything real well. Music and dialogue are exceptional. The areas/levels were diverse and well planed out. The only Knock is the gameplay left more, I think I needed more skills or more customization of what I wanted my party members to do. The balance in the amount of combat to navigation was a little light on the combat side.

    A lot of people wrote this game off before it came out but I’m glad I was one of the few who saw the vision!     Positives first, the game is just plain FUN. This game could’ve been made in the PS2 era & it would’ve fit right in, which I’m using as a compliment! Just a straightforward single player video game that feels so rare nowadays. The combat is hectic in a very satisfying way too! Some people complained about only being able to play as Star-Lord but that would’ve made things wayyy too messy with this combat system, if there is ever a sequel that goes completely over the top I could see it happening though. The graphics are great & the soundtrack goes hard too. All of the Guardians’ actors gave a great performance despite me being so used to the movie actors for them. I also really liked the choice & dialogue systems, I love replay-ability options like these.
    The complaints I do have are more minor, nothing in this game aggravated me to the point of dinging the score lower but I wasn’t hooked by the story as much as I wanted to be. At times it truly shined, ESPECIALLY the parts with Peter & his mother which really tugged at my homesick heartstrings. I get how the bickering between the Guardians makes sense in-universe & is how they usually are, but there’s SO much dialogue in this game even if it’s idle talking. Sometimes it just got a bit too much for me even if I liked all of the characters & their performances. The most glaring problem is the weird optimization that still hasn’t been patched on PS5 almost 2 years later. There are strange large frame drops often & a lot of bugs. Some of the bugs were really funny like when enemies would die & randomly have their bodies do a 180 twist before ragdolling across the room. Other bugs were annoying clipping issues & I would get stuck in the environments at least once per chapter, making me have to reload an auto save which thankfully never cost me a lot of progress, One part during a mid-game combat gauntlet a large mini boss enemy got caught in the ground and died instantly, leading to the rest of the combat encounter’s arena not opening up and allowing me to proceed. I had to sit through the dialogue all over again though.
    Overall I had a lot of fun with the Guardians & I hope one day a sequel gets greenlit, there’s so much potential for future titles!    … Expand

    So the game has a lot of room for improvement, but all in all is a solid experience. Amazing graphics, good story and characters and all in all just a fun game.

    Combat is the weakest aspect and the game is linear with little room (or reason) for exploration

Graphically the game is gorgeous, gives you plenty of unique locations to explore, and has some very impressive facial animations. A big concern from the trailers was the comedy. it came off as incredibly corny and seemed as ifFor a game i thought was going to be even worse than the Avengers game, i was 100% happy to eat my own words. I was absolutely stunned at how awesome this game is. Graphically the game is gorgeous, gives you plenty of unique locations to explore, and has some very impressive facial animations. A big concern from the trailers was the comedy. it came off as incredibly corny and seemed as if it was going to be forced throughout the game. Im happy to say i was wrong there as well. The banter between the characters is very natural and feels as if they really are having conversations with each other. Drax may have some of my favorite lines in the game. The story itself is very good, has some real moments with heart, and kept a good pace throughout. The gameplay is pretty fun but is also my only real complaint with the game. While the combat system works fine, it can be really repetitive at times, and i feel it needs more refining in certain areas. Ultimately the game won me over very early on and i am happy i gave it a chance because the trailers did not do this game justice. In fact the trailers seemed to have hurt the game. So it's good to see the word of mouth is getting it the recognition it deserves.… Expand

    I went into this game with really low expectations after Avengers, but boy was I in for a pleasant surprise. This game is a blast! The combat can be a bit overwhelming at first because a big part of it involves directing your fellow Guardians while you play as Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord). But there’s such a wide variety of enemies that you’re forced to change it up and try new things, soI went into this game with really low expectations after Avengers, but boy was I in for a pleasant surprise. This game is a blast! The combat can be a bit overwhelming at first because a big part of it involves directing your fellow Guardians while you play as Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord). But there’s such a wide variety of enemies that you’re forced to change it up and try new things, so it never gets boring or too repetitive. Despite not being an open-world game, GotG provides so much action, adventure, & exploration that I found myself not caring too much. I’m happy to report that it is not a short game, at least, not as short as I’d feared. The story is comprised of 16 chapters that each took me about 1-2 hours to complete (give or take). If you’re someone like me who likes to find collectibles & outfits, then it will probably run you about 20-25 hours of gameplay.

    By far, the best thing about this game (besides the 80s music!) is the characters. They may not look like their movie counterparts, but they talk & act just like them and I didn’t realize how much it mattered to me until now. Rocket is still Rocket, Drax still takes everything literally (and has that hilarious laugh). Their familiarity & chemistry is what makes this game great. I was also surprised at how many other familiar characters are featured (or mentioned) in the game. There’s so many references to Marvel lore that fans are going to have a field day. As with any game, there is always room for improvement and GotG is no exception. At multiple points while playing, I found myself thinking of ways this game could’ve been so much better (like being able to switch between characters). Despite those moments when it left me wanting, I enjoyed the heck out of it nevertheless. So for that reason I’m giving it an 8 out of 10. Definitely worth the $60 price.    … Expand

    I had a such an amazing time with this game. The story in this game was incredible! It contained so many addicting elements that it made me continue to play for hours! The gameplay wasn’t the best, and the visuals wasn’t the greatest, but In my opinion, the story is the greatest piece of this game.

    For people who hasn't got the game:
    If you want a game to get your money's worth it's this game, on average it will take you about 24 hours ideally to finish it. What I mean by "ideally" means that there is replay value if you miss a skin or want to explore a different choice taken. Your choices matter but I highly recommend to stick by your choice because some choices unlock different    For people who hasn't got the game:

Your choices matter but I highly recommend to stick by your choice because some choices unlock different trophies than others. Combat is nicely paced but you have to remember it's a companion RPG so you have to use the Guardians a lot to do significant damage. WARNING: Star-Lord is purposely weaker but in the next paragraph I will say how you will make him powerful so keep reading. NO MICROTRANSACTIONS need I say more? Humor some hits and some don't and the soundtrack is nice and expansive. There is minor issues that removes the immersion but the highlight word is "minor", so you will still have a good time.

    Things to know or missed:
    Throughout the game you will be given chances to pick up components that will allow you to unlock perks in workbenches where you ask Rocket to craft them, a thing to know is: It's okay if you miss a component there are many chances to get the components you need and you will have enough for the end of the game. If you are a streamer or youtuber there is a licensure music feature that will use different music in case if you are scared to be claimed or flag. YOU CAN MAKE STAR-LORD VERY STRONG and here's why: while lock on to enemies on your reticle that shows you the bars of your ELEMENTAL guns and that reticle would be mostly gray but depending on your distance it will switch to red meaning at that distance you will do a lot of damage and most of the time it's at a closer range making you vulnerable to be hit but you can dodge or have a Guardian to stun/root them. Another tip for Star-Lord while locking on again, next to the enemies health bar you will be given a symbol, that symbol either represents the 4 elements that you will get throughout the game or it can be regular blast or charged blast. Those symbols represents the enemy's weakness making the white bar to grow allowing a unique execution animation to be activated to do damage or to finish the enemy.

    Rev:
    This game came from the foundation of Final Fantasy 15 using your companions on the fly during combat but added to it using the unique talents of each companion to traverse the various worlds. The only thing that made the game barely a 8 out of 10 is because there is a lack of polish with audio, frame rates, and loose world structures where you would get stuck.

    Cons:
    I don't like the fact that the pacing of audio will overlap at times and most times cut off abruptly because you go to a new section of the level, the game has so much dialogue to learn more of the Guardians that the game can't pace it well. Unfortunately I had to stand still to let all the dialogue to finish then proceed because having the audio to cut off really removes me from the immersion. Frame rates was rare but when it happens, it happens hard and can be terrifying thinking you might crash. Most likely it will crash because it did to me like twice or sometimes the cut scenes freeze a bit then continues. The loose structures will sometimes blend Star-Lord to a structure (mostly metallic structures) making him stuck which leads to you to reload to the last checkpoint.

    Pros:
    The good parts of the game was the voice acting and the overall characters of the Guardians. A few of which I prefer have them in the movies than the ones we have in my opinion. Each character has their own backstory that you will learn overtime just by talking to them via artifacts or them standing alone pondering, resulting you as the leader to check on them and sympathize with them. The telltale aspect of the game is pretty interesting but the game is still linear which is quite compelling. You would make a choice at an earlier chapter and you will see the result later the game. Combat is like Final Fantasy 15 like I said earlier, but I like how they make Star-Lord a bit weaker than the others having you combine various abilities to take out the enemy. Fan service is huge if you explore deeply or even have the chance to experience it, or simply if you caught it. The worlds you explore, each world has it's own theme like the 2nd world is stormy therefore rich with plant life and Knowhere is this dark cyberpunk esthetic. The colors are so great from either in space or in the worlds you explore. Another pro is NO MICROTRANSACTION skins are unlock by finding them and a big soundtrack from streamers/ content creators and for the community.

    How to make this game 10 out of 10 (in my opinion):
    Do more polishing and make the pacing of the audio better either remove it , have more opportunities to talk to them, or expand the map so all the dialogue fits in it. I can see this game having multiplayer but for this to happen have each character play differently like mechanically different.    … Expand

    Very surprised with the overall quality of the game. Towards the end, combat can get repetitive but the story is very good and the characters are well developed, with their little quirks adding elements of comedy throughout the game. Really think the developers did an amazing job on this !

    What prevents me from giving the game a better score, for me, is the length of the game. For me it is too short, I wish I had more time with the characters and some developments.
    The gameplay for is good, however, it is only good because the game is so short, otherwise it would be ridiculously repetitive. Since I wanted to get the game's platinum trophy, I had lost some collectibles and had to play it again, which was not the best experience.
    The collectibles also, some are nice references, some are more story, but I think they were a little boring to find. It is rare that you find a collectible, read the text and feel satisfied. At least for me.
    However, it is a very, very good games, with marvellous moments and really good pacing.

The gameplay, story, and characters are improved greatly and give this game some more life. The choices you get are really fun. You can literally be an angel or an asshat, it's great.     Excelente experiência com este jogo. Não tinha grandes expectativas, mas a história e personagens surpreenderam muito pela positiva.
    Em termos de jogababilidade, torna-se, às vezes um, bocadinho confuso. No entanto esta lacuna é superada pele envolvência de todo o jogo.
    Não esquecer: a banda sonora foi das melhoras que já experienciei em videjogos.

    Perfection... Fun gameplay, fun to use the skills, the story is quite nice and sometimes mindblowing... One of the best Super Heroes games ever made, if you never played it because the disaster of Avengers, give it a try, you will never regret.

    This game was fantastic. I was impressed the graphics, story, and acting where out of the park. Had very low expectations considering the cash grab that was marvels avengers. My only criticism is its combat. It was bombastic in spectacle, but really boring after the first few hours. Would've been cool if you can control the other members of the guardians.

    Hat schon durchaus Spaß gemacht, war mir am Ende aber zu lang und immer das gleiche Draufgekloppe. Die Gegnertypen waren meist auch langweilig und so. Der Soundtrack ist geil, aber teils auch Geschmackssache, ich kann zb überhaupt nichts mit Rock/Metal anfangen und war teils genervt. Paar Klassiker waren aber auch geil.

    Im Großen und Ganzen aber eine Runde Sache, die Spaß gemacht hat.

    The writing is nowhere near the standard of the films, obviously. I say obviously but it shouldn't be obvious really. There must be young, talented indie sitcom writers who could write better, funnier dialogue than this. It's not awful, it's just not that funny, and it's very obvious. But it's okay. You like the characters, so you forgive the game its weak writing.
    It looks gorgeous: I'd say the graphics and particularly the level design are the highlights. The architecture of the ships, the stunning, weird, liquorice-taffy planet that you explore early on in the game, where giant red strips of what look like candy coil around the strange alien trees. It's a visual triumph really. It's technically very good too, but it's the design that's most impressive.

    The reason it's not an 8 is simple. The combat. It's too complicated without being fun. Bullet sponge enemies are NEVER enjoyable to fight. And it feels like they just endlessly respawn here too. It's fussy without being deep, which is a problem. Complexity is fine so long as the end result is a deep system that you can learn to master. But this just involves remembering when to use such and such an attack and there are no stringent time limits for it, you just plod through each battle. Star Lord isn't fun to control. His guns are weedy and he can't fly around the battlefield for more than ten to twenty seconds on a cooldown special attack. His melee is pathetic so you're just firing your blasters for 90% of the time, chipping away at surprisingly grindy enemy healthbars. It's a real missed opportunity. I don't think this 'play as one character while directing the rest of the team' style of combat has EVER worked in an action game. V in DMCV was my least favourite character for that reason, and I found Astral Chain annoyingly fussy too.

    But the rest of the game is likable, and the story progresses quickly enough for the combat not to be too much of an issue. It never becomes satisfying but it's not quite bad either. So the rest of the game isn't dragged down by it too much.

    I would say it's worth getting. Maybe not a must-buy unless you're a huge fan of the characters, but definitely give it a go if you see it on sale. And I'm tempted to give it another point purely because they resisted the temptation to turn the game into some hideous Avengers-style live-service chimera mutant monstrosity. Single player games like this are rare these days, and should be cherished.    … Expand

    The game i believe is a good length but i havent finish it yet. No online and no microtransactions thank goodness. Maybe story dlc if we're lucky in time. I dont think you even need to like the films as its an all new cast and timeline.

    Id buy it on sale due to high cost but i would but it if you like marvel comics and fun stories and 80s scifi. If they can optimise it on pspro to run over 25 fps at all times or add a performance mode then its an easy 8.    … Expand

    I was positively surprised to enjoy myself with this title. I wrote it off when it was initially announced. I was turned off by the game play then and after playing it it wasn't great as assumed - but it wasn't as terrible as I could have feared.
    For some reason this reminded me of Mass Effect albeit smaller in scope. The narrative is fun and I liked it.     MUSIC: I love the 80's soundtrack but i honestly don't think they took advantage of those licensed tracks. There is barely a quite moment in the game so you can barely hear the music. At one point i just muted the VO.

    GRAPHIC: Stunning, Beautiful, thats where the budget went. The biggest take away for me is that the male characters looks handsome and great and even have curves to them but the women don't. Every women is shaped like a brick, with very ugly haircuts. Hellbender look like she has Drax body but Cassandra's face from Assassins creed. Makes no sense and it feels like a double standard.

    VO: Its not as endearing as the creators think it is. There is barely a quite moment for you to take in the sights or just digest what happened. Just talking talking talking.

    CHARACTERS: DRAX, PETER, ROCKET, GROOT, LIPLESS all fantastic. I did not care about anyone else. The females in this game especially i found annoying and unlikeable, like most western AAA games.

    STORY: I did not care for the story at all. Star Lords daughter? why? I hate that this annoying little girl was the whole focus for this game. Why could it not be a space romp of random adventure with the guardians similar to a season of cowboy bebop. I did not care for this kid from the start, found her painful to listen to. Also why are most of the major characters females? Did you have to hit a quota?

    The overrated Last of Us influence continues to plague AAA single player games to this day. As expected this is yet another walky talkie game, a movie-game, a game that much rather be a movie than a game. The cutscenes are rendered and animated to perfection, everything is photo mode ready because thats important right? Does that mean the GAMEPLAY received the same level of attention? No of course not. GAMEPLAY IN A VIDEO GAME takes a back seat to cinematic. This game broke me, i can't do this anymore. Western corp have ruined gaming, every other day is a multiplayer, coop lazy garbage game announced, and when we finally get a single player game, that isnt a lazy FPS or a big for nothing ubisoft open world game, we get this Sony style overrated movie game that barely has gameplay. The story is good, the characters, music....all good. ive never played a game with so many 'sliding down' sections though......also the same few enemys throughout. The dialogue got very tiresome at times ('we're a team' x100,000 times). Just dragged on a bit too long for my liking.Half way though i was sure i was going to give this a 9/10. Unfortunatly, things get a little too repetitive.     a fun game with a good story and great character interaction. one of the best of 2021. the boss fights can be tediously annoying and some of the battles seem to bite of more than they can chew , trying to control all 4 characters, but still great. i'd suggest playing on a ps5 though, even on ps4 pro the load times are horrid.

    Its a solid and good game, yes. And the dialoges are written really well.

    BUT, it just feels like the spiderman game for the ps4.
    What i am trying to say is: overall its good, but not revolutionary...

    Guardians of the Galaxy is a game that fans will love and non fans will like. My experience with it was a mixed bag though. Here are the bullet points:

    - terrible save system, auto saves override manual saves - only 5 bosses: the 2nd boss is on a timer and doesn't require you to even fight, while the final boss is easily one of the worst designed boss fights I've ever played since it    Guardians of the Galaxy is a game that fans will love and non fans will like.     - enemies are repetitive and for the most part not really that interesting
    - tiresome arguments between characters that never cease (they don't stop talking, ever)
    - the characters are great as per usual Marvel standards
    - choices do have some consequences, but most are inconsequential
    - streaming music mode puts large annoying distracting text at top of screen
    - exploration is scarce and mostly pointless (some nice skins, that's about it)
    - you can find way more upgrade materials than upgrades are available, negating need to explore for them
    - auto aim lock on system switches between enemies when many enemies are present preventing ability to aim properly, especially in the final boss fight, even when you have the option not to break lock on checked (I imagine this is a glitch, but I can't be sure)
    - lots of time wasting activities and conversations between actual interesting gameplay
    - extremely average puzzles that seem to exist to pad out game time
    - won't run at 60FPS/4K on PS5 (enjoy 1080p yay)
    - lots of bugs, many game breaking requiring restart. This happened every single chapter in the game (so more than a dozen). Most common bug was the menu for Guardian abilities not working when you need a Guardian ability to proceed, forcing a restart
    - Huddle mechanic is one of the worst mechanics in a game (interrupt fights to stop and chat like a football timeout, then pick one of 2 choices to get damage buff, and a lot of the time the right choice is impossible to determine)
    - photo mode is bound to L3/R3, but you must use those buttons for other actions, causing you to drop into photo mode accidentally frequently
    - phenomenal soundtrack (even with streaming mode turned on)
    - great voice acting
    - good graphics, harmed by lack of 60fps/4k but supported by 30fps 4k
    - many scenes can be skipped by mashing circle, but many can't be skipped
    - is linear, but for this style of game that's in its favour rather than a bad thing

    Ultimately the incredible visuals and music made this game as enjoyable as it was, though on PS5 those visuals are not the beautiful 4K visuals the PC version has unless you want a 30fps gameplay experience.

    The combat is pretty shallow all things considered, despite there being a few nice synergies between different Guardian's abilities.

    By the end of the game I was bored with the combat and tired of the banter. There is an NG+ that enables you to try some different options to see what very slightly different outcomes you might get, but I'm happy to have played it once and to leave it at that.

    This one is really for lovers of the comic. If you're on PC, it's also for lovers of virtual photography. But for lovers of deep and engaging gameplay, not so much.    … Expand

    UPDATE: I have encountered a game breaking bug on chapter 10. Alerted the deva on reddit and still no fix. I only have one save and cant progress. Only option is to completely restart the campaign. Beware, very very buggy. Story is great but not if you can’t ply it…bumping from a 9 to a 7. The most fun I’ve had playing a single player campaign in a long, long time.

    Game is nice but many mechanics are very archaic. The Invisible barriers are everywhere, you can't even go back when stepping on the cliff. In the age of open world games this is ridiculous. I feel like I'd travel back in time to all those games that treated players like retards...

    Excellent game, one of the most entertaining stories I have ever played (much better than the movies), the quality of the game is really high in every way, the graphics, the characters, the music, etc... but I didn´t give it more than a 7 because I found the fighting boring and repetitive, I tried to finish every battle as fast as possible only to continue the story.     Square Enix mildly disappoints again. While the game is good and fun to play, once you finish it doesn’t draw you back. There isn’t a true NG+ as most features and abilities you unlock will have to be earned again on another play through. Story isn’t bad but definitely could have been better. This game is a missed opportunity.

In today's market of oversaturation of comic book stories and IPs, I can't say I was the most excited when this game was announced and that Square Enix had it headline all of its presentations and events. Superhero games have always been a mixed bag for me, especially in recent years. You can either have a great game like Marvel's Spider-Man, or a train wreck like Marvel's Avengers. With the same publisher behind this as Avengers, it's more than understandable that people weren't the most hyped for it.

    After playing it in full myself, I can say it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Heck, the game was fun for the most part and played just fine, but it did have a few things I have some issue with that prevent it from me giving it a higher score. But to start on some positives, the game looks great! it's vibrant and colorful, the world is fun to explore. The combat is an interesting idea, if not perfect in execution. It uses an upgrade feature and you learn new attacks along the way to add some variety, although it only goes so far, which leads into my first problem: the combat.

    The combat plays okay, the controls are easy to use and understand, but the fights can be very tedious and repetitive. Shoot, dodge, shoot, dodge and that's mostly it. You got some special attacks you can use which are helpful, but requires a bit of tedium to fill the gauge to use. It's also quite annoying when you miss a burst shot because it burns down your guns and takes a while to refill. A lot of the time, it'll happen when you're not expecting or ready for it, and punishes you because of it; it's just annoying.

    The story is one aspect I will probably differ with from most people. A lot of people say the story is amazing and has the best narrative of any game that year. My opinion? The story is alright, but nothing great or special. It revolves around way too many family deaths, and it's to the point where practically every one has the same tragic backstory and because of that, they feel justified to do stupid things and fall for obvious lies. Everyone from Starlord, to Drax, to the main villain, to Starlord's daughter, and others, there's only so much "my family member died and now I'm sad" I can take before any emotional effect the story tries to inject into me just feels numb.

    Since this is a Guardians of the Galaxy game, I have to comment on the character interaction and writing, which is also a bit mixed. it's quite accurate to what you'd expect from a ragtag team such as the Guardians with the Galaxy, but that can be both a good thing and bad thing. It's good because it gives the game a lot of character and life; there's not a dull moment. It's bad because sometimes it can get annoying and overbearing. There's times I just want to explore and look for secrets and items, but while I do, I get made fun of by the other characters. If that was every now and then, it would be fine, but it happens practically every time you stray away from the main objective from the game, and it loses its charm quite quickly.

    Despite my problems with the game, it'll be a satisfying playthrough for any fan of comic book video games. It is, admittedly, on the better side of the spectrum of superhero games and was still a pleasant surprise to how good it was than what I originally thought. Not free of enough issues for me to give a more positive rating, but I'm still glad I played it and I did have some enjoyment out of it.    … Expand

    Amazing experience, story is very good, its on pair with the newer movies. Gameplay is kinda lackluster as you can play only with starlord. But nothing too bad, the main stuff here is absolutely the story, humour and interaction between characters.

    Awesome visuals, voice overs, cinematics, and music. Gameplay variety doesn't match the length of the game though. You basically go through the same gameplay loop over and over again through all the chapters. It feels like a chore after awhile, and I just wanted to finish the game. The gameplay is pretty brainless.

The banter between the team mates was also really spot-on, and a lot of fun! The developers really did a fantastic job of capturing that Guardians vibe; and the voice acting was really good as well.

    On the negative side of things: There were more puzzles than I would have liked, I was hoping it would be more of an action game, and less about puzzles. Though the puzzles would have been ok-ish, if they hadn't been so repetitive...it felt like it was the same 2-3 types of puzzles, over and over and over and over again. That I could have definitely done without. And the combat was a little juvenile, repetitive and boring.

    Was really more like an interactive movie than a game though, with excessively long 'scenes' that required little more than a few button clicks from the player; amounting to a pretty 'meh' experience overall.    … Expand

    It was a mediocre action game but overall story was okay. I couldn’t wait to see the end of the game so I am done with it and move on. Overall it was a cheap action game that I won’t play again. I don’t think I will ever play marvel game series again.

    Guardians of Galaxy are the real blast that Marvel fans needed after more than mediocre Avengers. The “worst” part of the game is a mere fact, that you are not able to enjoy every single comment in the background and enjoy very well written characters.

    The story is entertaining, and it features characters from the Marvel universe that haven't yet surfaced in the movies, such as Fin Fang Foom, Lady Hellbender and the Nova Corps. Add in the requisite humor and self-deprecation and an eclectic killer soundtrack, and you get one of the most enjoyable games of the year.
