LEGO 2K Drive may not be a serious adventure title, but it is certainly a must-play experience for anyone interested in a good time.

It’s safe to say that 2K and Visual Concepts have hit the ball out of the park with LEGO 2K Drive. We haven’t had this much fun with an open world racing game since Forza Horizon 4. The racing action is tense and chaotic, the open worlds are a pleasure to explore, and everything is just so varied. Everything pretty much is awesome when it comes to LEGO 2K Drive, resulting in a game that’s fun for all ages and skill levels. And the coup de grâce is the vehicle builder, allowing you to truly let your imagination run wild.

In a world filled with bricks and boundless imagination, Lego 2K Drive in Bricklandia shines as an extraordinary racing adventure. With its thrilling races, delightful characters, and captivating visuals, this game takes players on a joyous ride that is sure to put a smile on their faces. Despite its ludicrous microtransactions, the sheer fun and excitement of the kart racing experience, combined with the charming Lego aesthetic, make it a game worth playing.

LEGO 2K Drive is a wildly impressive triple threat of a great LEGO game, a great open-world adventure and a great racing game. Whether you want to challenge your friends in slick and exciting head-to-head races, tackle a hefty single-player campaign stuffed with varied and plentiful content, or just spend hours building your own LEGO vehicles by the brick, you're absolutely covered here. A couple of issues aside, this is easily the best multiplatform arcade racer around.

With very clears ideas and a very well made execution, LEGO 2K Drive brings a refreshment for the LEGO games. A wonderful racing game ideal for any kind of player and of course, designed for the most hard core fans of the construction toys.

The open-world approach of the single-player and the good number of alternative challenges make LEGO 2K Drive a good alternative to the usual Mario Kart. Visual Concepts may lack some experience to achieve Nintendo's sublime track-design, but the start of this potential new franchise is more than good.

Unoriginal but perfect for family gaming, with a child-friendly exterior concealing old-school arcade fun and tough higher tiers of challenge for experts. [Issue#29, p.79]

LEGO 2K Drive is a very entertaining video game full of things to do that constantly reward the player. However, the simplicity of its gameplay and the little challenge of its races could diminish its appeal in the long term. However, building your vehicles is undoubtedly a complete addition capable of hooking multiple players.

Whatever the future holds, Lego 2K Drive is already a complete package--a raucous arcade racer that marries elements of open-world racing and kart racing and wraps it all in a bright, playful Lego package. It has enough real racing bona fides to satisfy adults, but the most pleasant surprise is how its combination of humor, explosive action, and robust building tools will make you feel like a kid again.

Lego 2K Drive is a breezy kart-like racing game with plenty of things to do, a unique twist in its customisation options and overall, the kind of fun you’d expect from a Lego game - although its microtransactions leave an uneasy taste in the mouth.

Lego 2K Drive builds an incredibly inviting world where speed and silliness reign supreme as you race and morph across its delightfully destructible setting. Despite some frustrating mission design and a smattering of bugs, Lego 2K Drive quickly won me over with its absurd narrative full of irreverent dialogue and moreish open-world challenges. If only the specter of microtransactions didn’t loom so large in this kid-friendly game, it would make for an even smoother ride.

The racing is addictive, vehicle customization is deep, the world is charming, and there is much to see and do in LEGO 2K Drive. Some minor speed bumps are baked-in, but they cannot stop this otherwise solid racer.

Lego 2K Drive is a great open-world racing game with an infectious sense of humour and impressive customisation options. As long as you can cope with the typical 2K grindy microtransactions and take steps to avoid its major save-wiping issue at launch, it's well worth playing.

Sometimes, as a gamer, you long for a game that you can just let your hair down with. That inner child wants to get some fresh air from time to time, and LEGO 2K Drive is there for just that. Not everyone will be here for the numerous puns and hammy dialogue, but I think anyone picking this up won’t be disappointed in the classic fun of screwing around with a vat of LEGOs. While the vehicle editor has a bit of a spazzy camera and seems to be missing a couple of parts, it’s still so robust when it comes to bringing those childhood fantasies of racing your custom LEGO car to life that it can be easily forgiven. It’s just a shame the same can’t be said about the egregious microtransactions that are about as painful as stepping on a LEGO. Still, if you have a taste for arcade racers and a love for LEGO, or are maybe looking for a good first racing game for the kids, you can’t do any wrong taking a pit stop at LEGO 2K Drive.

LEGO 2K Drive delivers everything fans have come to expect from LEGO games and it translates well to this challenging genre. The maps are full of things to do, it looks amazing, and it's approachable for everyone regardless of their age. The store and microtransactions leave a bitter taste, but only feel so out of place because of the game's family-friendly nature.

LEGO 2K Drive is an absolutely enjoyable and family-friendly fun-racer in an open-world-environment. The game transports the LEGO-formula very well and along with its unique humor, LEGO 2K Drive is a racing-game that stands out. However, there are some flaws regarding the open-world-design and the implementation of microtransactions.

LEGO 2K Drive is, to use a LEGO classic, awesome. The automatic morphing between vehicles is a stroke of genius - keeping races varied and entertaining. Each track offers a new challenge, and the various hubs of Bricklandia are certain to keep you busy for hours on end, all whilst honing your skills at the same time. LEGO 2K Drive is a classic in the making. Visual Concepts have cruised along the track to victory.

At times, the game devolves into weirdness, but that’s part of its charm. As a colourful and creative entry in the racing game genre, it’s bursting with fresh ideas that keep its engine humming with every boost-powered turn.

Other than having vague missions at times to get to story-essential races, LEGO 2K Drive is an incredible time. There’s so much fun to be had that it’s impossible to be bored by anything that goes on and the mission variety is far more of a blessing than a curse — although work does need to be done to explain how to accomplish mission objectives. The racing action itself is top-shelf and a fantastic basis for a long-term series if that works out. The roots of arcade-racing fun are here, with a lot of depth to the gameplay thanks to things like platforming-style jumps enabling more ways to pickup weapons and power-ups. Anyone who wants a racing game they can spend hours at a time with and never run out of things to do will be overjoyed with LEGO 2K Drive. It plays great, is the best-looking LEGO game yet and has fantastic sound design across the board.

LEGO 2K Drive manages to capture the essence of kart games, and most importantly, lets your imagination roam free. You can create and alter vehicles indefinitely, then let them race on numerous tracks and finally, enjoy it all with your friends. Has a really charming story too.

Despite these easily fixable flaws, I haven’t had this much fun in an arcade racer in a long time. It’s a beautiful and smooth experience with clever level design, cheeky humor, and the ability to make some truly spectacular vehicles. With split-screen and online multiplayer, LEGO 2K Drive is a great choice for some late-night gaming shenanigans.

If you come in expecting LEGO 2K Driver to fit firmly with previously released LEGO games, then you’re in for a world of disappointment. This is a game of its own based purely on racing and open-world exploration. While not all of it works completely, it does have enough charm and creativity to push it through as a game worth playing.

LEGO 2K Drive does not disappoint and delivers as a very enjoyable racing game. It doesn't aim to dethrone the genre leaders and follows its own path with a fun but somewhat brief story mode. It is a franchise with the potential to become something bigger if it expands the open-world experience, offers new stories, and undergoes natural growth without overusing microtransactions.

LEGO 2K Drive is a good racing/open world, where imagination is the only limit. Too bad for a certain underlying monotony.

Lego 2K Drive combines aspects of popular arcade racers like Forza Horizon and Mario Kart, but never does it to the same level of those competition. However, thanks to creative and varied level design, typical Lego humor, stable performance and an almost bug-free experience, this is a very worthy racing game for young and old.

Lego 2K Drive lets you drive at full speed leaving a trail of destruction across open worlds and intense race tracks. Despite bringing good ideas to the table, the game keeps many cards hidden in its sleeve, at the cost of Drive Pass and microtransactions. It is possible to have a lot of fun playing the campaign entirely offline, but there is an absence of more content characteristic of the versatility of the LEGO brand, mainly the minifigures, which cannot be customized and are scarce to acquire by playing, but, not without irony, are abundant in the microtransactions.

LEGO 2K Drive is a fun, colorful and carefree racing game, perfect also to be enjoyed with friends locally thanks to the split-screen mode. The developers have tried to blend the exquisite humor of LEGO productions (evident in many secondary missions and in the main narration) with the typical gameplay of arcade racing games. The balance works almost always, net of some main weaknesses: a vehicle control system that needed several refinements, too often confusing; and a progression that will not convince everyone, since to access each new race it requires first to level up by dedicating yourself necessarily to the secondary activities.

We had a lot of fun playing LEGO 2K Drive. It is an interesting experiment, with a lot of potential, but also with some limitations. The light-hearted tone and the not exactly prohibitive level of challenge make it a title suitable for all ages and ideal for playing in company (also given the support for local multiplayer). The vehicle editor is the real extra gear of an imperfect and at times chaotic production, but full of style, which manages to position itself more than dignifiedly in a slice of the market where competition is ruthless.

LEGO 2K Drive is a racing game suitable for younger players and fans of the famous Danish bricks. Still, it is not highly recommended for those seeking a more severe and refined driving experience. However, Visual Concepts has created a motorized adventure full of activities and mini-games, supported by many contents that aesthetically follow the cheerful philosophy of the colorful LEGO universe. Although it is a fun racing game, especially if played with other players, the poor management of the game economy and other more or less essential defects end up limiting its potential.

Lego 2K Drive is a nicely-polished ride, offering up unexpectedly-intense kart-racing action and a handful of diverting sandbox stages to explore. Unfortunately, the game is also a bit light on content and its aggressive microtransactions may make parents looking for something light to play with their kids pump the brakes. Lego 2K Drive is still worth considering, particularly once it goes on sale, but it feels like it’s a few bricks short of what it could have been.

The game offers a colorful and enjoyableAs an avid LEGO fan and enthusiastic gamer, I was initially excited to try out the LEGO racing game. The game offers a colorful and enjoyable world where young players can race their favorite LEGO vehicles in exciting competitions. However, while there are some positive aspects to this game, it falls short due to both the developer's greediness in implementing hidden content behind microtransactions and technical limitations that affect its performance.

The child-friendly atmosphere of the game remains its strongest point. The vibrant LEGO worlds and adorable characters create an enchanting setting for young players. The controls, although relatively easy to learn, do not compensate for the technical shortcomings that become apparent during gameplay. Even with powerful PC hardware, the game tends to run rather poorly, resulting in subpar performance that detracts from the overall experience.

Furthermore, the negative impact of the microtransactions exacerbates the disappointing technical limitations. Hiding game content behind paywalls is particularly frustrating in a game targeted at children. It creates a sense of imbalance and undermines the enjoyment of the gameplay. The constant interruptions for additional purchases hinder the immersion and disrupt the flow of the game.

Although the graphics are appealing and the music is cheerful, the technical issues prevent players from fully appreciating these positive aspects. The selection of vehicles and characters is somewhat diverse, offering kids the opportunity to discover their favorites. However, it's disheartening that some of these options are locked behind additional payments, further diminishing the overall experience.

In conclusion, the LEGO racing game falls short of its potential and earns a mediocre rating. Despite its child-friendly atmosphere, enjoyable races, and opportunities for creativity, the technical limitations and greedy monetization practices significantly impact the overall experience. Parents should be aware of the technical issues and the game's monetization strategy, taking necessary precautions to protect their children from unwanted purchases. It is regrettable that the game's potential for fun and entertainment is marred by both technical and business-related shortcomings.

Colourful, varied biomes filled with charm and personality; Nails the fundamentals of its driving mechanics; Uninterrupted driving creates a great sense of constant momentum; Creation tools boast a vast array of options and are a lot of fun to use.

    Bad-
Inconsistent AI; Lack of challenge devalues ancillary gameplay systems; Dull and unengaging open world content; Story mode's structure is a little grindy and repetitive; Bland humour.

    Thoughts-
Clearly, LEGO 2K Drive is an uneven experience. There’s a lot to like about it, and there’s no denying that at it’s core, it can be legitimately fun. All of that comes with caveats though. While the driving is fun, the races are held back by inconsistent AI. While the open world maps are great to look at and drive around in, the content they’re packed with is not the most compelling. While I like how approachable and charming the game is, it caters to younger audiences so much that it ends up feeling a little shallow. At least there’s the whole creation and customization aspect, which is one area where LEGO 2K Drive is a triumph without any reservations. Ultimately, if you’re looking for an arcade-style racer that can lay legitimate claim to the Mario Kart throne, this will probably leave you disappointed, but if all you want is a fun and laid-back (if unremarkable) racing game, then you’re in luck, because that’s precisely what LEGO 2K Drive is.

Love the world's, though I hope they add more variety as the game progresses. Looks good, plays good, can build anything you want, pure fun. Very child friendly but who cares? I miss having silly stories like this.

Now as for microtransactions, people are up in arms over it...why? Everything can be bought with in game money which isn't hard to get if you play the game and a lot of the stuff is pointless to buy other than the sets which already got them all. Seriously don't get the hate. Microtransactions shouldnt be in a paid game but just don't buy stuff. And for all the people worried about kids, I have this one simple trick...don't attach your credit card to the account! Wow, so easy! Should there be microtransactions? No. Is it game ruining? No, not at all.

Overall fun game, my favorite kart racer in years. Might be a bit pricey for some but for me was worth it, others may want to wait for a sale
