    Thoughts-
Clearly, LEGO 2K Drive is an uneven experience. There’s a lot to like about it, and there’s no denying that at it’s core, it can be legitimately fun. All of that comes with caveats though. While the driving is fun, the races are held back by inconsistent AI. While the open world maps are great to look at and drive around in, the content they’re packed with is not the most compelling. While I like how approachable and charming the game is, it caters to younger audiences so much that it ends up feeling a little shallow. At least there’s the whole creation and customization aspect, which is one area where LEGO 2K Drive is a triumph without any reservations. Ultimately, if you’re looking for an arcade-style racer that can lay legitimate claim to the Mario Kart throne, this will probably leave you disappointed, but if all you want is a fun and laid-back (if unremarkable) racing game, then you’re in luck, because that’s precisely what LEGO 2K Drive is.

The game offers a colorful and enjoyable world where young players can race their favorite LEGO vehicles in exciting competitions. However, while there are some positive aspects to this game, it falls short due to both the developer's greediness in implementing hidden content behind microtransactions and technical limitations that affect its performance.

The child-friendly atmosphere of the game remains its strongest point. The vibrant LEGO worlds and adorable characters create an enchanting setting for young players. The controls, although relatively easy to learn, do not compensate for the technical shortcomings that become apparent during gameplay. Even with powerful PC hardware, the game tends to run rather poorly, resulting in subpar performance that detracts from the overall experience.

Furthermore, the negative impact of the microtransactions exacerbates the disappointing technical limitations. Hiding game content behind paywalls is particularly frustrating in a game targeted at children. It creates a sense of imbalance and undermines the enjoyment of the gameplay. The constant interruptions for additional purchases hinder the immersion and disrupt the flow of the game.

Although the graphics are appealing and the music is cheerful, the technical issues prevent players from fully appreciating these positive aspects. The selection of vehicles and characters is somewhat diverse, offering kids the opportunity to discover their favorites. However, it's disheartening that some of these options are locked behind additional payments, further diminishing the overall experience.

In conclusion, the LEGO racing game falls short of its potential and earns a mediocre rating. Despite its child-friendly atmosphere, enjoyable races, and opportunities for creativity, the technical limitations and greedy monetization practices significantly impact the overall experience. Parents should be aware of the technical issues and the game's monetization strategy, taking necessary precautions to protect their children from unwanted purchases. It is regrettable that the game's potential for fun and entertainment is marred by both technical and business-related shortcomings.

Macht eigentlich sehr viel fun. Aber die Zeiten für die Herausforderungen sind viel zu knapp berechnet. Demnach ziehe ich zwei Punkte ab. Und das man alle gold Brauch für eine Trophäe ist schon traurig.

So first off, really fun arcade kart racer. Love the world's, though I hope they add more variety as the game progresses. Looks good, plays good, can build anything you want, pure fun. Very child friendly but who cares? I miss having silly stories like this.

Now as for microtransactions, people are up in arms over it...why? Everything can be bought with in game money which isn't hard to

Now as for microtransactions, people are up in arms over it...why? Everything can be bought with in game money which isn't hard to get if you play the game and a lot of the stuff is pointless to buy other than the sets which already got them all. Seriously don't get the hate. Microtransactions shouldnt be in a paid game but just don't buy stuff. And for all the people worried about kids, I have this one simple trick...don't attach your credit card to the account! Wow, so easy! Should there be microtransactions? No. Is it game ruining? No, not at all.

Overall fun game, my favorite kart racer in years. Might be a bit pricey for some but for me was worth it, others may want to wait for a sale

Solid fun with my kids. Not as bent out of shape about the shop as others. Plenty to unlock and customize in the base game. Would be a solid purchase on sale but definitely a fun game to mess around in if you can't wait.

This abomination needs to be shutdown. The precedent that 2K/Lego are trying to present here is appalling. A **LEGO** racing game that at first glance you would think would be amazing for children and families alike. Perhaps an awesome alternative to Mario Kart that isn’t restricted to Nintendo.

But then you see it’s overpriced price tag, and think wow this must be an awesome premium

But then you see it’s overpriced price tag, and think wow this must be an awesome premium game right? Lol nope, this is not only overpriced, BUT also incorporates microtransactions AND a battle pass system.

“B-but it’s just cosmetics” the defenders will say, but limiting the creativity of customisation in a game rated for children is horrendously stupid if not borderline illegal. Don’t waste your time with this game if 2K/Lego don’t value you and your wallet.

It’s a shame as the gameplay definitely has some substance but feels more like an early access, than an actual complete game. Perhaps due to the decision to make this into what appears to be a live service game.

Do Not Buy!!!!! I've completed nearly every mission, race, etc and lost almost every dollar I've made without spending a cent. For a game that sells you fake currency for real money, this is completely unacceptable

The ability to build your own car piece by piece is amazing. So many lego bricks to choose from and a great amount of customization options. The driving and race design feels exactly like the typical racing mobile game and PS2 racing shovelware. The cutscenes have horrible frame rate like the Lego movies. This whole art style stuff is just an excuse for developers to be cheap and lazy. $70 is too expensive and I expect better quality at that price. The dialogue is cringeworthy.

The multiplayer is boring, thanks to the poorly designed race tracks and terrible driving mechanics. I appreciate the inclusion of crossplay, local multiplayer and a cup series, but it's difficult to enjoy that with these tracks. There was even a track that felt like it was taken straight from Star Wars Racer Revenge. I forgot that trash even existed. The race tracks are so uncreative, it feels like I've played this game before many times. And I'm not talking about the good racing games, it ironically reminds me of forgotten racing games. I would recommend this game until it is $15.

While Lego 2K Drive is a very good game, I just don't live the Season Pass because it can likely ruin the potential the game has. But it has very solid gameplay and could be better if not for the season pass. But overall, it is a very fun racing game.

Microtransactions are heavily integrated into this experience, and the laughably low race payouts are seemingly designed to make you grab your wallet. You have to grind 20+ races to be able to afford one car. And given how short and barebones the "story" mode is, its grind by design.

This amount of grinding and monetization in a fully priced game is absurd. But at least it has a really good car building mode, right? Wrong. They've deliberately designed the wheelbases to the cars not to mimic real Lego building sets, all so they can sell you those real sets in their "Season Pass".

Obviously, there are some pros. It's cool to see all the different Lego elements and builds, some being completely original to this game. The quirky side activities and quests can be quite fun. And the characters definitely have charm.

In conclusion: too time consuming for adults, too predatory for kids. This is a full priced game with the audacity to make you want to reach for your wallet a second time.

Unoriginal but perfect for family gaming, with a child-friendly exterior concealing old-school arcade fun and tough higher tiers of challenge for experts. [Issue#29, p.79]

LEGO 2K Drive is a terrific addition to the LEGO video game universe, with a bright and breezy atmosphere, super fun races and a fantastic creator mode with classic LEGO jokes aplenty for all ages, sadly tainted by egregious and forced microtransactions which are all too easy to consider thanks to the slow progress of earning in-game currency. For a game at full AAA price of £70, it’s difficult to justify why they were included at all and ultimately brings down the entire experience.

Bricklandia is a wonderful setting to explore, and it’s clear that the level designers in particular have gone all out in dreaming up the most playful LEGO world they could imagine. Decent kart racing and an abundance of the goofy sense of humour that’s become a defining aspect of LEGO media bring said world to life, and the car building tools introduce an unexpected amount of depth for dedicated builders. Monetisation and open-world fatigue hold 2K Drive back from greatness, but for kids of all ages with some time to kill, it’s a lot of fun.
