PLAYAug 19, 2024A strikingly beautiful experience that keeps all things in balance. Its successful simplicity and gorgeous visuals give Kunitsu-Gami a timeless quality. [Issue#44, p.80]
-
Jul 22, 2024Overall, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess stands out as a game that masterfully combines elements from across the video game spectrum. This game manages to be challenging, without being inaccessible.
-
Jul 18, 2024I'm blown away that Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess seemingly came out of nowhere and it's as awesome of a game as it is. From its exciting strategic combat to its gorgeous moments of downtime all wrapped in outstanding audio, I absolutely can't wait for a sequel.

Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami, in many ways, feels like a game from a bygone era. It’s reminiscent of one of those weird experimental PS2 titles, like Okami, that would go on to become beloved cult classics. The brilliantly inventive mish-mash of strategy and action is immediately fun, but only grows more complex and delightful as the whole game progresses...This, coupled with Kunitsu-Gami’s entrancing art style and story, makes it one of Capcom’s best games in years, and that’s really saying something. Kunitsu-Gami’s sheer ambition blew me away, and the way the game consistently innovates upon its own formula is something other strategy titles should take notes from. No matter how you look at it, this is one you don’t want to miss.
-
Jul 15, 2024Innovative, exciting, and endlessly entertaining, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a beautiful adventure that transcends genres for a highly memorable experience with all the makings of an instant classic.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a unique game that brilliantly blends together action and strategy, resulting in a game that makes you think and keeps you on your toes. Add in sublime enemy design and a wonderful soundtrack, and you have a game that rubs shoulders with the best of 2024 so far.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a delightful surprise from Capcom. It's not a big-budget blockbuster or the obvious start to a franchise, but this unusual stand-alone game really feels like something creative and special. The core gameplay loop is plenty of fun, and the graphics are a testament to strong art design. Indeed, the only real complaints I can find are a few lackluster boss fights. It's a game that hearkens back to the days of titles like Okami — and not just in visual appearance. Kunitsu-Gami is absolutely worth a look if you're a fan of Capcom's unconventional titles.
-
Jul 15, 2024Capcom continues its winning streak with a game filled with personality. It may overwhelm you at first, but its mix of action, strategy and folklore will suck you into its gameplay.
-
Sep 9, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is an artistic action game that hides behind the tower defence genre. The trailers cannot do this game justice and it’s a shame for people to pass on it if they think this is a very simplistic action game. There is depth and strategic thinking behind every mission and the only downside is the village management/repair segments. Capcom should be proud of this one.
-
Jul 29, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a story of Japanese legends and folklore that throws you into a beautifully designed world full of exploration and keeps carrying you toward the end. However, the road gets bumpy at times.
-
Jul 25, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess presents us with an interesting combination between tower defense and hack and slash, where the player has enough tools to face each challenge in the way they like best. The pacing is addictive, and there is constantly a feeling of progression that hooks you, and you can't let go of the control until you reach the end credits. Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a classic in the making, a title that we will all be talking about in a couple of years as one of the hidden gems of this generation.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a reminder that video games go far beyond old recycled formulas that, in the end, only serve to please shareholders. It is a strategy and action game full of charm and competence in a gameplay that seems simple, but delivers enough depth to enhance the replayability factor.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a wonderfully innovative fusion of genres that managed to take me on a journey from frustration to being totally absorbed in the world that it offers. Across a lengthy campaign, everything comes together to create a story that feels well and truly realised. Some rough edges do little to diminish just how impressed I am in how quickly this game managed to turn me around. While it might take a while for it to truly soar, it soars high.
-
Aug 5, 2024Asking villagers you’ve freed to help in grim battle is just a fair trade in Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, a beautiful game steeped in Japanese legend. But the tower defense mechanics added complexity and were too much to manage.
-
Jul 24, 2024With a very different and highly competent proposal, Capcom's new title fulfills its role very well and delivers a quality experience. The gameplay expertly blends strategy and action in the right measure so that the levels do not fall into excessive repetitiveness, although the difficulty is very accessible and, at several points, even too easy.
-
Aug 7, 2024Before playing Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, I was intrigued by a new Capcom IP, but had no desire to play a tower defense game. I ended up being pleasantly surprised with the creative way Capcom fused tower defense with third person action. The combat itself wasn’t a highlight, but the unique way the gameplay was structured really pulled me in. If you’re at all curious about Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, definitely give it a try. It completely exceeded my expectations.
-
Jul 25, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a striking strategy action game with vivid art style. It uniquely blends the strategy and action genres in a balanced manner. Additionally, by incorporating action mechanics into the traditional rules of a defense game, it offers a much more dynamic and engaging gameplay experience.
-
Jul 24, 2024A beautiful and original game that is an amalgam of several genres, skillfully blending them together. It definitely deserves your attention, regardless of your preferred gaming genre, as it offers something unique, fresh, and thoroughly enjoyable.
-
Jul 23, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess offers a stunning and memorable aesthetic that matches well with its unusual, but compelling mix of different genres. Capcom has proven why they’re one of the most successful and long-running developers and publishers out there, and that they’re still willing to push the boundaries once in a while.
-
Jul 18, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess impresses with its aesthetics and, almost without words, the game tells the story by itself. The plot is fairly simple, without much complexity, but it works. The action fits perfectly with the strategy and creates a unique and immersive experience, but it's in the beautiful art direction that Kunitsu-Gami exudes the most personality and style.
-
Jul 17, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is one of those games that will have you going back for one more quick level. If you’re still on the fence, check out the demo and get yourself hooked.
-
Jul 16, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a bold statement by Capcom. Surfing a tide of recent great games, the company felt comfortable enough to experiment a little with a mix of tower defense and action games. The result is a beautiful, fun game, which is definitely difficult to explain to someone who hasn't played, but still satisfying and complex.
-
Jul 16, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is an exciting action-strategy hybrid that left me yearning to know more about its inspirations and intricacies. The satisfying day-night structure of its stages evoked that overwhelming “just one more thing” feeling that easily had me losing track of time – and while it could occasionally be tainted by busy work base management deeper in, the overall experience was a delightfully unique one. It’s not the most challenging action game around, but the strategy it demands is still satisfying, and its wide range of interesting enemy designs and quiet but effective storytelling are something I’ll remember for a long while. It’s an odd thought, but I’m glad a game as enigmatic as Kunitsu-Gami exists.
-
Jul 15, 2024This is certainly one of those games where the whole is greater than its parts, making the small irritants a little more forgivable in the end.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kinitsu-Gami: Path of The Goddess yet again shows a Capcom willing to take risks. Who would of thought a niche hybrid of action, strategy, and tower defense would translate into a Japanese mold like this? While the game suffers from familiar genre tropes like a sluggish pace and busy menus, players won’t deny the clever, tense implementation of building an impeccable line of defense. From fighting dinosaurs from the future to dancing away evil spirits, I’m excited to see what new experiment Capcom brings us next.
-
Jul 15, 2024I had no idea what to expect from Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, but it will undeniably be another hit under Capcom's growing catalog of critically acclaimed successes. On a personal level, this title echoes some portion of the developer's past that I've missed dearly, and sincerely hope it sticks around and grows. The gameplay shortcomings here may fail at encourgaing the incentivized replay value enough, but they don't detract from the quality present here.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami is an fun concept with good and smartly executed ideas. Although it plays a bit on the safe side, we hope Capcom keeps supporting those.
-
Jul 15, 2024An adventure full of strategy, designed for both veterans and newcomers, and distinguished by its beautiful artistic direction. It's hard not to grown attached to Soh and Yoshiro during their pilgrimage.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a strategy game like no other, complete with that classic Capcom charm, making it an essential experience for longtime fans of the studio.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a breath of fresh air. Its tireless commitment to its aesthetic, and enticing, varied gameplay make for a memorable experience. One that is as charming as it is enthralling. In an era where Capcom largely produces remakes and sequels, games like Kunitsu-Gami are more important than ever. Every inch of Kunitsu-Gami feels deliberate, and the passion of those who developed it bleeds through. Kunitsu-Gami is carving a path forward for Capcom, and at the end of that path is a more creative gaming landscape.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is one of the oddest games we’ve seen from Capcom in a while. It feels like an indie idea, given a reasonable budget, the kind of game we haven’t really seen since the PS2 era. Because of that, it almost feels hard to recommend. I can’t say, ‘if you liked X, you’ll love Kunitsu-Gami’, because there’s nothing else quite like Kunitsu-Gami. And that’s probably why you should play it anyway. If you’re not an action nut or strategy master, that might be even better, as it doesn’t fit neatly into either of those genres either. It’s weird, it’s wonderful, and it’s well worth your time.
-
Jul 15, 2024An easy-to-grasp premise coupled with a campaign with an abundance of clever twists and turns, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess stands as one of Capcom's most interesting ventures into smaller-scale experiences yet. A game that doesn't shy away from its smaller stature, yet never feels like it's sacrificing the quality of production we've come to expect and praise Capcom for. Some great artistic use of color and lighting on top, only emboldening further a game that feels miniature yet grand at the same time. The surprise isn't that Capcom can excel just as well on newer, smaller-scale projects. It's that for a premise revolving around a combination of combat, real-time tactics, overhead management and tower defense-style adaptation, Capcom and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess have found a way to make such anxieties of the Strategy genre a still-perilous but altogether more exciting and interesting path worth taking.
-
Jul 15, 2024I found myself enraptured by this game. Hooked on its combat-cum-strategy and constantly awed by the sights I saw, entertained by the steady flow of upgrades and the structure of the mission layouts. It broadened my horizons a little bit, if a game can do that. That can't be a bad thing, can it?
-
Jul 15, 2024Capcom brings with Kunitsu-Gami a game that excels in atmosphere, which comes from the beautifully detailed environments, which plays well with the gameplay elements. At the same time, the boss fights versus the regular fights are quite disappointing, and graphically it can be a bit rough here and there. Nevertheless, the overall package is entertaining and has enough to offer to keep you entertained for quite some time.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a compilation of good ideas, elevated by the excellent setting, delivering a very fun title for fans of Japanese mythology and a clear love letter from the devs to it.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu Gami is a very good surprise! The complexity of its gameplay is really effective, addictive, intelligent and the progression is really satisfying, despite the repetitive side. The strategic dimension with the profession system is one of the great qualities of the game. In addition, the artistic direction of the game is magnificent, everything is extremely careful. In short, well done Capcom.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess shows how versatile Capcom can be and it ends up being one of 2024's most surprising games to date. It's surprising because it shakes things up so that pieces from several different genres end up landing in quite surprising ways. It's a surprisingly well-functioning hybrid between an action game, a tower defence and a strategy game.
-
Jul 17, 2024Combining several related genres, Kunitsu-Gami Path of the Goddess offers us a twisted perspective of Japanese folklore with an entertaining plot. While there are a lot of things that could have done better, in general, it delivers according to its promise.
-
Jul 16, 2024Kunitsu-Gami is a striking game both conceptually and visually, exactly the kind of experimental game that I wish we got more often. I just also wish it pushed itself a little further than it does. Offense runs the show in Kunitsu-Gami, which unfortunately undermines some of its potential strengths. Still, the game keeps itself engaging with its hybrid of action and strategy, as well as the courage to change up its structure.
-
Jul 15, 2024Despite a few instances where my interest waned, Kunitsu-Gami pulled me back in time and time again with its fast-paced combat and simple, yet rewarding, strategy elements.
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is the guarantee of discovering an original game wrapped in a particularly stylish universe. We like the idea of integrating traditional dances into a world of Japanese folklore which mixes with very elegant choreography and a particularly pleasant bestiary to discover. The game reserves some good surprises to renew a gameplay loop that maintains the same structure from start to finish, missing the boat in some of its aspects, such as balancing and the progression of the main character. Kunitsu-Gami finally proves to be rather clever in its strategic proposal, with its different systems, its day/night cycle and its limited resources. An experience that will fill your summer for a good twenty hours.
-
Edge MagazineAug 9, 2024Even if it doesn't keep its elements in lockstep, then, the colour, soundscape and imagination of Kunitsu-Gami is nothing if not exquisite theatre. [Issue#401, p.104]
-
Jul 15, 2024Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess won't be the game of the year, but it's still a pleasant surprise from Capcom. If we ignore the repetitiveness, which is still difficult to forget, we have an interesting first proposition. A more original experience than usual with combat with a particular feeling, and a whole strategic section that is quite complete but not stifling for newbies. It can also be a good entry point, even if you hate tower defense. The universe with Japanese folklore works, as does the artistic direction, which counterbalances the truly disappointing technique.
-
Jul 15, 2024It might not feel quite as new as its billing, but Kunitsu-Gami is still a lovely little game, with a seriously engrossing hook that'll have you wishing it was longer than it actually is. The plates it keeps spinning are impressive, even if it's actually a little slight in the final weighing.
-
Jul 15, 2024Fascinatingly strange in all the best ways but while the action is solid the strategy aspects are undercooked and the disparate gameplay elements never gel the way they should.

Jul 20, 2024It’s that spirit of authenticity and unwavering commitment to a distinctive vision that makes Path of the Goddess so refreshing right now, especially at this level of budget, production, and quality. When so many games feel like they could have been made by anybody for nobody, Path of the Goddess feels like something unique made for people who never knew how much they’d love it. Creative swings like that don’t always work out. Path of the Goddess is one that definitely does.
-
Jul 22, 2024At every level, Kunitsu-Gami offered the kind of challenge that makes my puzzle and strategy-obsessed brain sizzle with excitement.
