After 20 hours in the game I can say for sure that game story and gameplay is so boring. Yes it has good graphics, but not enough for me. I shouldnt buy it day 1 and be victim of the hype. I really dont undestand why they praising this game.

The game and the scale just feels very very bloated and this completely breaks the pacing with the story when you decide to take a bit of a break, this break can lead to hours of pointless stuff which disconnects you further from the main story.

I feel they turned the dial up to 20 in this game, but not in a good way.

There are quite a few cut scenes but the game makes up for it in the sheer size and scale of the open world, especially with the newly implemented climbing system which makes everywhere easier to traverse. The dialogue is similar to the first game and to he fair, I really liked the first games dialogue because hanky though it was it really gave the game a good amount of charm and character. The team have definitely added to the game rather than changed the whole system which I appreciate, and there's so many new systems to learn and master. I'm currently around 15 hours in and I cannot wait to finish the game and then play it all over again. Expand

10 in my opinion! Let us be real for a second. There is no game that is perfect! But, there are games that comes close to it. Horizon Forbidden West is one of those games. Great story line with Aloy, Awesome Graphics, and gameplay fun and exciting!!! This sequel is just a great as the first one!!! Keep up the great developing Guerrilla Games.

The review bombing here by trolls is pathetic. Many of them claim that they have played the game but have not actually played a minute of it. If you didn't like the game, a 6/10 would have been adequate. But giving it a 0-4 out of 10 clearly shows their motivation.

Overall : Visual style over gameplay substance but still worth playing (at least until Elden Ring comes out).

It's more of the same style over substance with HFW. The cast of characters all look like castoffs from the 90s show Tribe and the different tribes are all barely-distinguishable hippies in dayglo facepaint. The story is godawful and you will find yourself skipping through it because you just do not care about facepainted npc #9002. The world is stunningly beautiful to look at but poorly-designed (think AC Odyssey). A lot of it is irrelevant wilderness. An open world game can feel vast even if it doesnt have hundreds of miles of world. HFW feels like a lot of copypasted textures and areas. The combat sorely needs a lock on. Whether owing to bugs or poor design you will often find yourself getting one-shot by things not appearing on screen/appearing too late or too early. The hitboxes are all over the place. The biggest stumbling block and the worst offender is Aloy (chubby face aside). Where once she was endearing now she is a nagging tutorial bore. She is constantly, constantly, constantly, constantly quipping. You will audibly tell her to shut up and you will do it into the double digits. There are times where you are not even afforded the chance to solve a basic Zelda 'shoot-the-glowy-thing' puzzle without Aloy straight up telling you what to do. This game treats you like a dribbling moron. And this is with the accessibility options turned off. You cannot take in the beauty of this game without wishing its protagonist would shut up. If you pick up a rock she quips. If you pick up a plant she quips. If you take longer than 5seconds to solve a puzzle she quips and tells you what to do. This makes the game a tour. And it sucks. Because it could be a GOTY contender if Aloy were quieter and made to fit into the games world more. There is an odd disconnect at times and she will clip through things. This game is another case of 'look at the pretty graphics! never mind the glitchy gameplay!'.

A massively open world game that often requires a lot of travel on foot/mount is normally fine, but far too often I will try to attempt a side mission without realizing I need some kind of ability/equipment from the main story. The game needs to do a better job of letting you know not to waste your time with these things just yet. The sheer amount of side events can be intimidating and (after a certain point) a bit useless.

Some strange bugs encountered already. Dead machines twitching around infinitely and dead humans still standing upright. NEEDS NG+ but I assume this will be added later just like in HZD.

It's a very similar game from its predecessor, so if you enjoyed that, you will probably like this. Altogether a very solid sequel, it just needs a bit more polish in some minor areas.

At initial launch the game is definitely buggy, but I haven’t experienced anything atrocious. Aside from that the world is beautiful, the combat is awesome with tons of variety, the story is much improved and expanded on compared to the first game, the under water traversal is great, and Sony’s first party studio Guerrilla Games knocked it our of the park with this one!

My rating is based off the PS5 version. In summary, the world is incredibly dense. The combat has been slightly improved to make it a bit more interesting. The climbing is vastly improved which is much welcome, doesn’t feel as cumbersome. The story has improved to become more interesting from the beginning and not mid way like the prior. The world is absolutely breathtaking. IncredibleMy rating is based off the PS5 version. In summary, the world is incredibly dense. Incredible graphics, however my only reason for not giving it a 10 is within the graphics and modes. The resolution is fantastic but the 30fps is a bit hard to play on since let’s face it it’s not 60, but if that doesn’t but you then it’s the best mode. The performance mode has too much anti aliasing issues ex. the trees and foliage have a shimmer due to the checkboard rendering. Normally I like to play 60 on every title, but it’s too distracting for me. Therefore the 30 is stunning in looks, again, it’s not 60 so it has a down side for me. Overall worth the full price for an amazing experience similar to when I played the last of us or uncharted for the first time. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Horizon Forbidden West is Guerrilla's best game to date, taking Aloy to new heights with a blockbuster release that meets the high standards set by PlayStation in recent years. While it's totally worth fans jumping in on day one, it's perhaps better to wait a few weeks until all the bugs are ironed out.

Horizon Forbidden West is exactly what everyone thought it would be: an amazing game. It has an open world with plenty of things to do and places to explore, fights against some really well-developed machines and stunning visuals. The feeling is that the second game of the series improves on what was already great, and it feels rewarding and fun to play. It is another single-player masterpiece from Sony.
