Zero points just for how Poliphoni joked with the customers after all the problems...
They really don't care of who is paying for the game...

Do not buy this game!! Greedy microtransactions and you have to be online to play single player.

Scandalous grinding methods. Don't buy it, it's a 80$ free to play, with online connection required for solo play !

Gran turismo 7: the real paying simulation.
24 hour servers down no apologize for a 70$ game, downgrade money reward. Polyphony just want your money

    Refund Please.

The pre release version was good, the first update nerfed the payouts and added microtransactions. The game is headed for pay to play and not a worthy successor to the other GT games

Take your money elsewhere. Been a fan since gt 4, but PD went full EA and not only did they inflate the prices of all cars from the latest game (that includes payed dlc cars) they also just dropped an update lowering credit earning coefficient. You got me this time, pd, but I’m done with the series.

A big FU to Polyphony Digital for destroying the superb Gran Turismo 7 with Microtransactions!

Why can't we just enjoy the game how it is? Why does the game need microtransactions? You lost a loyal fan from the first Gran Turismo. Bye.

Hardcore fan since the very beginning of this pivotal franchise. Forked out 80 € (hooray for european prices!) only to see this once glorious franchise turned into a greedy gatcha game. You can continue with this always online **** Poliphony or choose to rectify it and not lose all your devoted fanbase..

I work all day. I don’t want to come home and feel like I’m working all day for a car. I want to enjoy the game. I would be nice to play offline too. Very disappointing, expected better from this franchise.

The game is released and microtransactions are displayed. This would be acceptable IF they provided reviewers with the microtransaction model before release. THIS IS A DISGUSTING PRACTICE and should not be considered common practice by consumers. They clearly delayed microtransactions to get positive reviews. I also feel reviewers have a responsibility to update their reviews or do a follow up when such substantial changes are made. On top of this when they realize people are finding a way to make grinding for credits at least somewhat bearable, they release an update to reduce the amount of credits you can earn in almost every race. The downfalls of an always online single player model have been shown in full force with nearly 24 hours of downtime for server maintenance. I can forgive some of the bugs but when you have ill intentions with your extremely loyal fanbase, and treat them like cash cows, that is something I can't forgive.

Some of this is my fault too. I bought this game without hesitation because of my enjoyment of past Polyphony Digital releases. But now I know that every developer's integrity is for sale. This has been a learning experience for me. DO NOT PRE ORDER GAMES. Wait a couple months before you purchase a game. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET and the industry will change.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pay to win and grinding required for most late game cars, missing much in the way of progression and career mode. Missing ability to sell used cars and buy car upgrades (they have to be won with tickets...) No endurance races for late game cars. Required online only, if the servers have an update day bye to the game and any add ons you bought also you won't be able to get a refund, might be less of an issue if you can buy the disk version. Also there is an unskippable 10 minute intro credits scene. Game itself is good but it's trying so hard to not let you actually do racing you have to listen to a million interrupting texts that ruin any immersion. It's too bad that this could have been an extremely impressive game but it ended up being another over hyped game that under delivers. Expand

Microtransactions heavily baked into the whole single player experience. Cannot play off-line and have not been able to play for the last two nights in a row due to server issues. Quite embarrassing for a tripe A title such as GT. If I could refund I would.

What happened to the days of buying a video game and it was entirely up to you to play the game to progress and earn rewards. Don't even get me started on the DRM. Greed has managed to take over this industry and looks to be rotting it to the core, games that used to be dependable and exciting which provided us with new adventures, gave us joy and excitement now are just schemes to make continual cash flows, it’s utterly disgraceful.

The gaming industry seems to be changing for the worse, it’s embrace of new technology has been used to create better gaming experience but also as a mechanism for padding the already hefty wallets of the industry executives.

How i miss the simple days of when games didn’t connect to the internet and they had to be playable from day one. It’s a shame that all of the hard work from the developers, artists and productions can be thrown down the toilet by a few soulless individuals, bottom lines are truly dreadful.

Well, we're here, how did we get here? Today PD released an update that nerfed pay outs for some events, why? To answer that I'd like to explain a bit how this game presents itself to the player.

    - - - - - - -

The problem with Gran Turismo 7 is GaaS, or Games as a Service, what it basically entails is cutting off half or more of the final game content to release via 'free' updates, updates which will have content that gradually increases in price/value as it is released, games that feature a lot of grinding are prime targets to be converted to this system and it is a plague among the gaming industry as it makes you choose between time and money, that IMO does not make a game a 'game' anymore but something meant to fleece you as much as it can.

The only GT games I've played are GT3/GT5/GTS, I can tell you that the initial grind in GT7 is much more forgiving than in GT3, (can't say much for the others as I didn't really play them much) I made $1m Cr. in 5 days, that same feat took me months in GT3, however this is at this moment in the game, the GaaS system itself features continuing 'free' updates (update is "Free" content is not) which will introduce cars that are inevitably better, cooler and have more features than the base cars in the game and Polyphony will MAKE you want those cars, because if you don't get them, you'll start losing races, you'll start to be pestered with all sorts of ads that show you cars only in the new updates then you will have to make the inevitable question:

Is grinding for 2 hours a day, 5 days a week for 2 weeks, worth less for me than the $40 it takes to buy that shiny new car right now with microtransactions?

And you'll most likely answer, no.

And then it will most likely happen again with the next update, gradually increasing in credit price, then when you least expect it, you will be paying so that you don't have to play the game, GaaS inherently gives you an extreme goal and begs you for money to make it easier (this is why you CAN'T sell cars), it is insidious and is destroying my love for gaming, it inserts itself in the most forced ways in games for the sole reason of making a quick buck off of you and it IS working, only way to stop it is to stop buying games that peddle it, publicly call out the publishers and developers that insert it into their game that previously did not need it at all.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for GaaS, worst thing about it is that you don't even own a license to use the content you buy, you don't have any rights to the fake money you pay real money for, if they shut off the servers they can legally do so without providing any kind of restitution or any kind of reward for time/money lost.

GaaS takes your time, your money and your rights away.

Forgot to mention, all GaaS games in one way or the other feature cheap psychological tactics that ensure you get hooked to the game and always come back for more, which does this game use? The skinner box or Operant Conditioning Chamber:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operant_conditioning_chamber

What this usually amounts to is adding RNG elements to the game, Yep, you guessed it right, the Star Tickets, they give the illusion of being fully random and that you have a one in five chance of something but in reality the Tickets are fake, What you will get from it is already decided by the game, probably long before you get the ticket, want to test this out? Claim a ticket and as soon as you get the thing, close the game and try again, you will ALWAYS get the same thing, no matter how many times you try.

Additionally some games go even further pick from a pre-selected list of rewards to give you depending on how good you are doing in the game or how specific your gameplay has been going compared to secret parameters, most likely refined and extracted from all of the metadata they get from everyone collectively playing the game, all of this effort, all of this is done for only one reason, to fleece you for content and make you pay at every turn, is is the most anti-consumer thing you can implement in your game short of actually taking money and being legally allowed to not give you anything at all, which is unironically called 'Gambling'.

This is a problem that the gaming industry inherited from the mobile game industry, IMO if developers and publishers want to make games that change the core mechanics to something that better fits GaaS then they should release those games on mobile systems where anti-consumer tactics are accepted and applauded.

Microtransactions, network locking a single player focused game, developers breaking the game with updates, 36 hour downtime with no apology and no compensation, nerfing payouts on events to push microtransactions, and it’s only been a few weeks. Remains to be seen how much worse the game gets.

Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
