This game is probably not suitable for casual gamers, it takes a fair amount of time to get far enough into the game to have all the fun stuff opened up, and the new physics make the more powerful vehicles extremely temperamental to drive, tuning makes a welcome return, but requires time and understanding to utilise adequately. This is not a game that you can jump in and out of easily.

Once the nostalgia wears off this is an annoying and badly padded out game. Music rally is a bit of fun for 5 minutes, then becomes redundant. Navigation is annoying, it's not intuitive, and everything has a sub menu or dialogue piece behind it, meaning that you have to press 20 buttons just to do one thing, like actually start a race. During actual game play (you know, when you're not repeatedly hitting buttons to cancel dialogue that's irrelevant and repetitive, or hitting X 10 times to advance one screen...) on the topic of dialogue, the pop up dialogue in/during licences is mostly condescending, and definitely annoying. The graphics are comparable to GT Sport, in some cases worse-walls/barriers being rendered only a couple of hundred metres up the road, and we're talking edge of track artefacts directly in your eye-line, not walls on buildings way off the racing line, is a bit ridiculous considering the era, and looks daft on a 55" 4k display. Although, shadows are probably better, there is barely any difference between the PS4 and PS5 versions though, glitching in the arms when turning in cockpit view is really frustrating, for a brief moment it looks like you've clipped something and are about to spin off, or smash into something. I initially wasn't concerned about the always online requirement. The difference a day makes, Sony/PD can turn this game off whenever they choose. Duff updates that hobble the game, stacking the deck against the player from achieving pre determined goals. Support for wheels is somewhat lacking, there is inconsistent feel for kerbs and bumps. Online racing is even more chaotic than the last 6 months of GT Sport, seriously, its like Destruction Derby 2022 out there... Which brings me to the continuing lack of a damage model, firstly if one was looking at the likelihood of damaging their car when they crash into someone it would incentivise them against doing so, secondly, they claim to be 'The Real Driving Simulator' smashing into a wall at 150mph spinning a couple of times, then being able to carry on as normal is a bit daft. Mentioning their old age tag line, why no qualifying in campaign races? Starting at the back every race is kinda like a 2000s arcade racer than a cutting edge current gen game. And the rubber banding is pretty crap too. The AI are an improvement over previous iterations, but they're still daft and turn in on/punt you as they clearly aren't programmed to know where you are. As for PD's decision in the latest update to reduce payouts for races, this is a harder nudge towards micro-transactions, which is just greedy, I paid £90 for the game, with no mention of these in reviews and feel ripped off, PD have shown that you don't own the game, you've paid to rent it until they decide to turn it off.

Reine Geldmacherei. Ich kann das Spiel nicht empfehlen.

Even this is bad enough without mentioning the always online single player mode - which at the time of writing has been down for almost an entire day because of server and update problems.

Free to play games aren't this predatory in terms of aggressive monetisation, and in my country this game costs $125. If I spend this kind of money, I should get a full experience, not a mobile game on PS5.

Good mechanics, good visuals, awful monetization. The latest update decreased the amount of currency you get in game so you're inclined to purchase some with actual money. The game is always online, even in single player, so you can't escape the updates.

For the first week, many players realized that this game was extremely grindy, meaning you had to play and absurd amount of hours just to get credits and unlock/purchase new cars, upgrades etc. But not everyone has insane amount of hours to drop on a game. so naturally everyone started looking for ways to get credits faster. This greedy company decided instead to reduce the amount of credits earned per races and push their microtransactions to the front page, even after the game was already $80, to make matters even worse, their ingame roulette tickets give you the impression that you could win awesome prices such as high amount of credits, car parts or even expensive cars, however the system is so rigged that always gives you the lowest and cheapest reward. How fckd up of a company do you have to be to manipulate consumers this way and to force microtransactions? I'm off to playing something else, they really messed up this time.

So, just for people who are unaware, they shut the game down for, what I believe is around 15 hours and counting. The reason for this is because the in-game currency can also be purchased as premium currency. The amount is frankly insane too. Well, apparently after the latest patch, someone figured out how to cheese the currency, so since Sony/polyphony/whoever wasn't making as much money as possible, they shut the entire game down to fix this, rather than any other issue that would just be patched in, like usual. This really started to get worse in my head when I thought about the fact that you can't play the game offline really at all (barely any circuits and some music rally stuff.) The reason is because the in game currency affects the devs pockets, so we aren't able to play offline due to that. Everything in the world not only depends on money, but truly revolves around it more and more blatantly to the point where everyone just directly admits to it to your face, gives you the finger, and says "deal with it." It's frustrating and depressing that this, and so many other promising things (I have a lot of hobbies and interests) have just been only about money, and not about passion or anything else, and I swear it wasn't always like this. I'm not sure if it's PD or Sony that's ruined this game for me and countless others, but you should ask be ashamed.

You didn't even have to try for us to have loved GT7. We all wanted to love IT. You just had to do the absolute minimum. Instead you went out of your way to lure us in with trailers and hype and scooped us all up in your net of lies.

Nerfing the payout for races to kill the grind, LYING about being able to sell our cars, even doubles and triples of the same car, creating fake scarcity for car supply to induce fomo, the god awful gacha roulette which doesn't even pretend to be remotely randomized...all for what? That's right, to see how many people say "screw it, I really want this $20 mill credit Ferrari and don't want to complete 400 races to buy it, let me get my credit card." Because getting $70+ from each of us wasn't enough. And thanks to your forced always online game mechanic, which serves literally no purpose, I got to spend my one day off this week staring at a black screen informing me your servers are down. I'm assuming you're beefing them up for the influx of chash deposits your expecting after update 1.07.

To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. To say I'll ever buy another Gran Turismo game ever again would be a lie. I hope it was worth it. Good luck s̵t̵e̵a̵l̵i̵n̵g̵ making a ton of money from this one.

Since the last update you earn even less credits in races than before so that you are even more forced to buy credits with real money. At the core GT7 was advertised as a car collecting game which I expected to get for a full price game. But after a few hours of playing you realise in which direction it goes, a real car collection can only be realised if you spend real money. Another negative aspect is that you are forced to be always-online in order to access the majority of game features, otherwise you won't be able to do anything. I loved the Gran Turismo games as a kid, sitting with my brother and choosing and tuning cars and seeing who could set the fastest lap. This game feels like the antithesis of those games. I am actively discouraged from purchasing and tuning cars by the huge grind involved to get them. I worked out that to acquire the cash for my favourite car and enough cash to tune it would take over 24 hours of solid gameplay. I can manage 2 hours a night of play at most so I'm looking at being able to play around with one car every 2 weeks. Some of my other favourite cars are locked for purchase full stop unless an invite is randomly acquired, absolutely disgusting. How dare they charge any money for this game when the economy is quite obviously entirely based around Pay To Play. Such excitement for a new iteration of this series and for the first time in my life a game has managed to make me feel completely heartbroken.

All of this on top of the fact that Online is required to play single player. The first week this launched I was unable to play for any extended period as due to issues with our internet caused by Openreach it was dropping in and out.

Also they've introduced poorly weighted prize draws and micro-transactions to buy in-game currency.

Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]
