I enjoyed this game at launch and had high hopes, but between the excessive micro transactions, and removal of reasonable organic in-game credit earning I am now beyond frustrated. The game is literally down for maintenance for them to nerf these organic money earning methods further. Trash game model.

Payed 100 Euros for this game only to fine out is is a cashgrab scheme. This should be a game where "normal" people could enjoy hypercars and classics. But the only way to enjoy these cars now is to grind for 40 hours to buy a classic Jag, or buy credits through microtransactions for over 50 Euros. Good work Polyphony destroying your one and only game. Great job losing all your long time fans.

This game falls stunningly short of previous installments, even the recent Gran Turismo Sport. GT Sport, at launch, was maligned and panned - over time, GT Sport became a fuller game. Even GT Sport felt like a fuller and more developed game than this. GT Sport had exorbitantly expensive cars but also had an in game economy that worked such that you could work towards expensive cars relatively quickly even as a casual player by just sort of playing the game in way that you found enjoyable. You could sell cars you had purchased and no longer needed (or got a duplicated of as a gift later).

In GT7, there is not really a fully developed campaign/career/solo mode. There wasn't in Sport, either, but PD placated us all by saying that was mostly an online game to tide us all over to a return to form in GT7. GT7 has a markedly more sparse singleplayer gameplay than Sport. This, coupled with extremely low race payout, invitation only cars, and seemingly core gameplay elements of car tuning locked behind raffle tickets screams as a somewhat shameless pivot to a micro-transaction model. That would be fine in a free to play mobile game but is frankly insulting in a AAA studio release of a new installment of what had, to this point, been a core pillar of the entire console's ecosystem. Really disappointing and frustrating. Ultimately going to put this game aside as a casual player - playing a few hours a week without any reasonable way of earning in game credits would lead to six, seven, eight months of time to earn enough credits for a single medium value car of a couple million credits, let alone the top value 20-million credit cars. Extremely frustrating. Unless the game gets both more substantial single-player content AND un-breaks its economy, this will be a forgettable title.

This release of a "franchise" was a major disappointment and disaster for future games. Not only is this game pay to win but its also full of bugs oh and grinding has officially been kicked in the nuts because they nerfed the payouts of 85% of the high pay races. Being said, keep you money u might as well buy forward shaking my head.

It's a beautiful game with amazing physics, a very fun racer to play. The problem however lies in all the bundled up BS that comes with modern gaming. Horribly bungled mess of a launch. For the amount of time we have waited for a faithful continuation of the Gran Turismo series, we get a game with significantly lees content that GT Sport.

Above and beyond this, prohibitive microtransaction-driven gameplay has ruined a once excellent and innovative series.

This game has potential, but doesn't live up to online standards of GT Sport and suffers from the loathed DRM in single player. It would also benefit greatly from adhering to proper race settings. Mostly gimmicky racing events lacking standing starts. Terrible AI, chase the rabbit nonsense.

Ultimately, I hope to enjoy this one day, but shelving with today's update. Predatory MMT creep

The best cars are obscenely expensive.
    Cannot sell cars for credits,

Otherwise- AI is terrible, hasnt improved since GT1.
Rally physics are terrible and worse than previous titles, do them well or dont bother.
No quali, no grid starts, no endurance races- assume these will come via paid DLC in due course.

Hopefully they do a No Mans Sky and actually take in the feedback of fans (just dont take 2 years), as this is the worst entry in the franchise. i am a fan from GT1 and have played every entry to death.

Do not buy this game. I did and wish I could get my money back. Been a huge fan over the years. MTX and greed has ruined a once great franchise. The newest update has nerfed the most farmable races too, Reducing the total for winning by more than half in some cases. Buy an XBOX and play Forza. Get a PC and play iRacing. Microtransactions beware. Bought the game at full price at launch after the press reviews. Sony revealed the MTX after launch and totally designed the ingame economy to push MTX. The scam has been pushed further after 1.07, they went above and beyond and reduced the already low prize payouts. You can’t even sell your own cars for money. Delay your buy until Sony fixes their game.

It’s was a grind enough before. 16 hours in game time for the most expensive car. Now after the 1.07 patch it will be over 35 hours. All to push the micro transactions collect all the cars you are looking at years to have enough credits. This was a 90$ game.

Sony / Polyphony Digital have gone the way of EA etc with anti-consumer decisions.

It already took much longer than previous GT titles to earn enough credits to pay for many vehicles, but I guess sales of the heavily pushed micro transactions weren’t as high as they’d expected, so they nerfed the reward amounts on the most popularly farmed races in the latest update. Speaking of updates,

Speaking of updates, whenever an update is released, the servers require patching first. This means you can’t play the game because of its “always online” requirement. Yes, you can’t even work on your license tests while the server is down. There’s supposedly some arcade races and the “music rally” tracks, but I never was even given the option to play them as my game refused to go into “offline mode” choosing only to throw up errors about how it couldn’t connect to the server.

    Shame on PlayStation
    Shame on Polyphony Digital
    Shame on Kazunori Yamauchi

Also, the AI sucks, so all the “story mode” races are rolling starts, where you just have to chase down the moronically driven AI car in first place from their 20-35 second head start.

A beautiful game spoiled by shady MTX practices. They already made it more of a grind post launch with the latest patch and it was already a grind fest before that. I’m not sure how PD didn’t get called out by all the reviewers but this is just not acceptable for a $80 game.

The roulette system is broken. The AI is horrible. Rolling single line starts where you start over 40 seconds

Rolling single line starts where you start over 40 seconds behind? Yup, it’s needed because the AI isn’t very good. It can be fun but the campaign needs more actual racing with grid starts.

Now tack on the always online requirement and the fact that the game has been unplayable for almost 24 hours…

    Community engagement is non-existent.

They need to do a complete 180 on this one.

This was after the game was already pushing you to buy micro transactions at every opportunity. I was fooled — the micro-transactions weren’t in the review copies of the game. Those reviewers felt the reward amounts for racing were fair. Now, a week later, those rewards have been slashed in half to coerce players into giving Sony more cash. Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]
