This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Everything is spot on from the technic perspective. However, the lack of a narrative ending made everything seem much more flat and disappointing. The myth of Faye was explained as "she's been protecting you", and the mask and truth went away like nothing happened (don't know why it took hours for players to go looking for the mask), and the "different side adjusted differently justice" ends up with Odin was simply just a total jerk... A lot of potential ending in a truly cheap way, which made it hard to justify the fatigue combat and old system over many hours. The father and son ended just like the other mortals... Expand

Masterpiece, greatness and jaw dropping from the start to the end , it’s so hard to find a game like this masterpiece

You already played this game back in 2018.
This game should have been advertised as a 30$ DLC instead of a 70$ game:
    - Minimal amount of blood and gore - Too sterile, no sex scenes etc. - Recycled animations - Same repetitive and brain-dead puzzles made for toddlers - Same repetitive and mediocre combat mechanics - Same boring single dad simulator - Boring and spongy enemies

    - Boring and spongy enemies except for some bosses
    - Buggy at launch
    - Old-gen holds back it's potential
    - Feels more like a movie than an actual game
    - Extremely linear story and level design
    - Holds your hand all the way through
    - Bad pacing
    - Slightly improved graphics
    - Black-washing
    - Woke libtard soy writing

This would probably have been more like a 3/10 if not for the following circumstances:

    - I'm sick of lazy game development and cash grabs
    - I'm sick of woke storytelling and race-swapping
    - I'm sick of micro-transaction gotcha mechanics - even though this game has none of the sort.
    - I want to counterweight the fake 10/10's

The gaming industry is in shambles and we need to push back against this and tell the truth about new games and corrupt reviewers who shill for a review copy.
    Make games great again!

God of war Ragnarok is 50% front ended with borderline cut DLC ideas. And back ended with an over-bloated mess of an ending that would have been in service to a third title. Pros: wonderful environments and physics

Its an ending I guess Kratos is finally likeable after like 8 games or some **** Cons: combat is borderline on rails Falls into “sony 3rd person sad dad game 100” territory

    Its an ending I guess

Kratos is finally likeable after like 8 games or some ****

Cons: combat is borderline on rails

Falls into “sony 3rd person sad dad game 100” territory that they just kept running with since the Last of us

Entire game feels like its holding your hand to the point that you barely have to think outside of combat

Extended ending is locked to doing some fetch quests after 22 hours of gameplay

Voice acting is borderline unbearable outside of kratos and mimir. Atreus feels like they had a decent child VA who hit puberty and doesnt care about voicing a main character. Game borderline forces you into using the axe over everything else. This is not a devil may cry game where you can use everything or nothing. Upgrade system is a cool idea. But largely a numbers game to out damage bosses. Overall. Its sad that the “final” chapter is an actual bloated mess that basically boils down to “melee only last of us story” and little much else. 6/10. Beat after 22 hours on 11/12/2023 PS5 version.

Ultra-overrated video game. The typical generic fantasy game. The worst thing is that this or Elden Ring will take the GOTY.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. God of War Ragnarök is a roller coaster for sure. Amazing game with a brilliant story fleshed out in the main path but also really well developed side quests. I loved this game but have a few nick picks regarding the bosses and story. Below are my issues - The question of 'Who blew the horn to summon the serpent in 2018' - This was never answered - Should have been able to weird Mijolnir at somepoint for a section of a boss battle or one segment of the campaign
    - Should have been able to go on the rainbow bridge for a segment of campaign (maybe part of the Heimdall boss fight)
    - Would have been really cool if Fenrir ate Odin as per norse mythology - Played as Atreus a bit too much in the main story for me - Could have done with better pacing boss fights as like GOW 2018 (Fighting Thor 3 times rather than 2 would probably have done it)

These are all fairly minor story beats/critiques to a game I'll remember and continue to replay for many many years to come but just wanted to share some honest opinions 9.5/10 for me

Simplesmente um dos melhores games que já joguei na minha vida, impecável, supera o 2018 em todos os aspectos, em especial na história e nas boss battles, 10/10, a sequência que The Last of Us Parte II não foi, parabéns Santa Monica, melhor estúdio da Sony!

Linear. Nothing innovative. Worse story characters and fights compared to the first one. Drags on with melodrama and when you do get gameplay its mostly puzzles. Npcs give too many dialogue hints to the puzzles and the combat is repetitive.

This game was everything you could expect from a runner up to the previous game in 2018. It perfectly flows into this further build on the story and environment itself. Aight the combat system slightly upgraded it really feels like you’re doing damage with the weapon options you have. Truly a masterpiece yet again by SMS.

I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]

Thanks to an amazing cast that’s doing an outstanding job, a compelling story told through the eyes of multiple characters, and top-notch combat, this epic and heartfelt journey strikes all the right chord. It’s impossible not to recommend God of War Ragnarok, but just in case you had any doubts, I strongly advise anyone mildly interested in gaming to play Santa Monica Studio’s latest masterpiece.

It’s a satisfying conclusion to the modern God of War saga, but it’s hard to walk away and not feel like this could have been something greater.
