The original Flashback continues to shine as one of the greatest games ever created. Its enduring brilliance serves as a reminder of what a truly exceptional gaming experience can be. As time goes on, we can only hope that Flashback 2 will fade into obscurity, allowing the legacy of its predecessor to remain undiminished.

A modern sequel to Flashback could have been a title perhaps not as memorable as the original, but certainly a worthy sci-fi experience. Unfortunately, everything seems to have gone wrong as Flashback 2 is a disaster in almost every respect.

Flashback 2 is a slapdash sequel that trades heavily on nostalgia, while misunderstanding everything that made its predecessor a classic.

It took me 10 hours to get to the end of Flashback 2, but I suspect I could have cut that down to 5-6 hours if it wasn’t for bugs frequently forcing me to lose progress. I didn’t enjoy much of it, and I barely paid attention to the plot because it didn’t matter. You can’t focus on the plot when the game is so broken. I cannot in good conscience recommend this. Your time and money is better spent elsewhere.

Flashback 2 initially had no chance to stand next to its great ancestor — or even come close to it.

Flashback 2 is a complete mess and it's a real shame, as its predecessor is still fondly remembered by a lot of players. We will probably never know the reasons behind such a failure, but, having spent too much time on the game, what we can do is recommending you to avoid buying it in its current state.

It's an abysmal end, resulting in a controversial sequel, leaving fans of 1992's rad Flashback most likely preferring to return to Conrad's previous amnesia in the original's plot to forget that Flashback 2 ever existed.

Unfortunately for the fans, this is a missed opportunity. Flashback 2 is a name that induces great respect between members of retro gaming communit but because of this game that name has been smudged. We hope that this title will be forgotten quickly and that there will be a second try at this franchise, this time with a new developer team at the helm if possible.

It's hard to believe that it was Paul Cuisset, the creator of the first Flashback, who created such a sequel. Graphics close to the PS1 era, animations done with a trowel, we can clearly see that this Flashback 2 did not have a large budget to create. But financial means in no way excuse a completely shoddy game design choice, not to mention its execution which gives the feeling of a blatant lack of expertise. Not only is Flashback 2 a technical failure, but it is also an indigestible game due to its clumsy gameplay, completely paralyzed by mechanics from another century.

Flashback 2 could have channeled the first game's spirit while presenting a new spin on the action. It fails spectacularly, lacking polish and nearly any redeeming qualities.

A depressingly awful sequel whose main faults are probably due to a lack of budget and development time, but that doesn’t excuse it being considerably less entertaining than the 31-year-old original.

Flashback 2 is a shameful nostalgia cash-in that is an affront to the classic original. Unfortunately awful in every way imaginable, do not buy this game.

While the original Flashback is an Amiga classic, Flashback 2 can only be described as a meagre sequel. Rehashed story elements, dull and clunky combat, a shockingly modest presentation, peculiar design decisions, and wholly unacceptable technical deficiencies (the bulk of which persist even after two post-release patches) make for an adventure that left me underwhelmed at best and utterly infuriated at worst. While I’ll always feel nostalgic for Conrad Hart’s original adventure, Flashback 2 is unfortunately not the blast from the past I had hoped for – instead, it’s a total misfire.
