I am a big fan of the original and this new remake has done a great job remaking most aspects of the original game and also changing things that were outdated. Absolutely Enjoyed this game and looking forward to play part 2 and 3

    - Some areas have significant padding. Some areas feel dragged on and you revisit this one dungeon twice for no reason. The final dungeon is a chore.

    Bottom Line:

Final Fantasy VII Remake is a fantastic remake of the first act of Final Fantasy VII. It isn’t a 1-1 remake and there are changes to the narrative, but most of it is very faithful to the original source material. The combat is great, it looks great and it plays great with a fantastic OST. This is the best way to experience Final Fantasy VII Remake, so if you’re even remotely interested, pick this up ASAP while we wait for the second game to drop.

FF7 was the first RPG I ever played (20 years ago), still one of the best Final Fantasy games and one of my all-time favourites I've completed several times. I still remember watching that remake teaser years ago and now finally I got to experience the remake on PS5. There's good and there's bad.

The graphics are great, everything looks pretty damn beautiful. No complaints there. Midgar feels lively and the different areas are very detailed and visually interesting. The music's amazing and very nostalgic. I really liked most of the new orchestral versions. Combat has never felt this good in a JRPG. The long boss fights are especially awesome and the changes to weapons and materia are welcome. However, gameplay can be frustrating too as the remake's just as linear as the original but somehow ends up feeling more confined and restricted. Outside of combat the game often feels kind of bland, and that brings me to the story.

Almost everything that worked in the original game works in this one too, but I absolutely disliked the huge plot changes. I didn't mind how they expanded on some side characters, but all the new characters are so cringe-worthy or boring. Voice actors are good, but the dialogue is so-so. It's definitely good at times, but atrociously bad throughout the game. So many weird "sex noises", anime grunts and gasps. Just terrible. The story is stretched out and filled with meaningless side quests nobody cares about. The pacing is all over the place and the story lacks urgency. The stakes should be high, but they feel almost irrelevant. The ending is utter nonsense and I didn't like it.

Thanks to its excellent combat and beautiful graphics, I mostly enjoyed the remake. It's very nostalgic and the long boss fights are really awesome and worth experiencing. It sucks how big a disappointment the plot changes were. However, it's only a game. No one plays Pacman for the plot, and I actually really like the combat in FF7R so I'll live with the changes and enjoy playing the best Final Fantasy game in ages.

The DLC was also great if way too short. The hard mode wasn't that hard and "ng+" feels more like an afterthought. It also has the most challenging bosses (damn you Weiss). 100% both game and DLC.

Utterly beautiful, with an excellent combat system that integrates real-time & turn-based play seamlessly. My only gripes may be that it is a bit too bloated, and the last 2 chapters are an unending sequence of boss fights (which for a certain type of player may be a plus, though). A stellar remake.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Final fantasy 7 is a game that needs no introduction. When it came out it made Jrpgs awesome in the west and people started to recognize the genre. To this day people still look back fondly on this game thinking about The amazing protagonist Cloud or the cute and hilarious Aerith as well as Sephiroth one of the most iconic video game villains of all time. However we are no longer in 1997 time has passed since the original Adventure with cloud and the gang. In 2015 Final fantasy 7 Remake was announced and it was a sight to behold a remake of a beloved game. So many were excited for this game and were excited to experience FF7 all over again except with a modern version of the game. I myself was excited although there existed a problem I was an Xbox and Nintendo owner I didn't have a PlayStation. So the game came out and I didn't get to play it at launch time passed and in 2021 I finally got my hands on a PlayStation 5 it was time to finally try it. One thing I should mention Final fantasy 7 remake is only part one of the remake there will be 2 more parts released later on. And when I went to play the game it was magical not only was it everything I wanted it to be, not only was it breathtaking, it was everything I ever wanted in a Remake of Final fantasy 7 and even more. The game in my eyes has surpassed the high expectations I had for it. Let's start by talking about the big thing the story. Final fantasy 7 Remake for the most part is the original story but with differences that make the story engaging and fresh even for people that have already played the original game. I really liked the added context for story and the expansion of Midgar it was absolutely phenomenal and it's amazing. Gonna talk spoilers rq towards the end of the game a decent amount of stuff happens that was not at all in the original game. Many out there dislike this and think it completely ruins the story and game. How do I feel about it you ask? I for one love the changes made it makes sense when you remember this is Final fantasy 7 Remade for modern times it never was gonna be 1:1 to the original. The story is the same it's just being told slightly differently and I absolutely love it so far everything that has happened I'm completely on board for it has me theorizing what's next and it has my absolutely excited for the future games and man if part 1 was this good I bet part 2 and 3 will be amazing too. I wanna touch on the topic of characters all of them have received amazing Voice acting and it matches the characters from the original game really well. I'm only gonna talk about 1 character for time's sake I'm gonna talk about my fav character of all time Aerith. In this game Aerith was treated with such respect that it just felt like FF7 Aerith in everyway but better in some ways and I love it. every scene with her made me really happy and to see her be done with Justice it's really touching I love the care that went into preserving what made Aerith great in the original game. As she was then she's adorable and absolutely funny while also being emotionally touching. I love everything they did with her I could go on and on but I'll move on. Let's talk gameplay the original Final fantasy 7 was a turn based RPG. For those in the know you probably noticed my last sentence was false which good eye. Final fantasy 7 the original uses an atb system which basically means enemies can attack you if you are too slow you do you gotta learn to be fast in it. In Remake they went for an action approach and let me just say. This is my favorite combat system in any video game what they have done here makes me really happy. Blocking attacks is important for defense and in a good amount of encounters helps defeat enemies with insane offensive abilities. After landing a lot of hits or waiting you get atb charges which in this game let you cast a magic or use an ability which uses the atb charge and these can help you turn the tide of battles. Materia also is here and let's you customize and make your own builds which adds to replayability and it's just an amazing system. The ability to switch characters at anytime makes it so you can have full control of the battle and just is so fun to perform. There's even more but I'll leave it at that. Music in this game is some of the best music I've ever heard one of my favorite soundtracks of all time easily. If it wasn't apparent from all the praise you just read Final fantasy 7 Remake is one of my favorite games of all time as of writing this I would probably put the original and remake as my 2nd fav of all time it just clicks with me and does things I personally adore in gaming. My final score for Final fantasy 7 Remake is a 10/10 I love this game so much Expand

The 3-4 hours of additional story do however feel abit too short to warrant its standalone price so I would suggest waiting out for a sale. My issues with this game are still the same regardless of the new quality of life updates. I still feel chapter 11 was weak, unnecessary and very boring to playthrough, Cloud as a character despite having his reasons for lack of emotions can feel really awkward and soulless in his interactions with other characters which also stems into another issue which is some of the writing is really poor and sometimes even corny which can bring players out of the immersion. In addition, the world, districts and areas you tackle throughout your journey in Midgard can be encountered with very tedious, boring and uninspired side content which is usually your typical fetch quest which sucks. However, if this is your first time playing or if you are a really big fan of remake then I would definitely recommend this version of the game as it is the most definitive experience that is on offer currently and for those that love story-driven adventures, jrpgs and fun combat then I would encourage you play this game as it is one of the best jrpgs out.

The Definitive Edition of the best Final Fantasy game to date, now including a very well made Expansion and some very important technical improvements.

My introduction into the world of Final Fantasy.
I'm actually speechless, this game is absolutely incredible. it's bigger and better than the original in every possible way, a huge improvement when it comes to the visuals, gameplay, animations, character models and pretty much everything you can think of.

I'm going to start with the gameplay first, well what can I say, oh my freaking god, arguably the best combat system i've ever seen in a videogame to date, the mix of Turn Based with Real Time Action is honestly flawless, it works perfectly and it feels very satisfying. The materia system is amazing, there is a lot of customization, it's easy to use and understand and makes the combat so unique and enjoyable. Also the boss fights are insane, there are so many of them, and they are quite challenging, you can't really play mindlessly and expect to win easily, you actually need patience and strategy to beat them, and I really liked that.

Now when it comes to the characters, I think they're great, they have likeable personalities and slowly develop pretty well, their designs are fantastic and memorable, and you really get to bond with them which makes you feel like you're part of the team.

It's worth to mention that the game is actually very big, the world feels alive despite being limited, you can just get lost in it. There is a lot of content, side quests, various minigames, VR missions and rewarding activities, so many things to do and places to explore, it's a pretty long experience and it's also very replayable, trying out new builds and doing the challenges is very fun.

As for the main story, it starts pretty tame but things go wild quick, and even though it drags quite a bit later on, there are so many spectacles in it, some of the cutscenes are just cinematic masterpieces, everything looks gorgeous.
The only issue I have with the story is the writing and some of the dialogue, it's pretty interesting for the most part, but it can get quite weak sometimes, some plot points aren't explained well and don't really make sense either, the story is clearly unfinished and I'm hoping the sequels do a decent job at explaining few things. I respect the fact that the writers managed to surpass our expectations by altering parts of the overarching story, it's a very risky but ambitious thing to do, and I really want them to nail it and achieve their goal. Overall I like the story a lot, and I believe that it's only going to get better from now on, I'm very excited to see how everything turns out in the end.

Lastly, I really need to mention the stellar soundtrack, it's just so beautiful, one of the most iconic and magical soundtracks in a JRPG ever.

It really is an outstanding videogame, It's not only an improved version of the original Final Fantasy VII, but it stands on its own very well. I would go as far to say that this is the definitive Remake, and the best Remake I've ever played.

    Final Rating: "Excellent" ~ 9.5/10.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade (FF7) includes a 4-5 hour DLC tale covering the Wutai ninja Yuffie Kisagari’s mission in Midgar against the Shinra Corporation. This DLC is fantastic and an excellent extenuation of the gameplay in the base game. The FF7 remake combat overhaul was the best part of the FF7 remake and is the best part of its DLC as well. Combat is smooth, combos are bombastic and powerful, and tactical decision-making is free flowing and fun. Materia slotting and weapon upgrading also work well here. The system allows the player to focus on whatever play style they prefer, whether that be melee combat or magic use. The game’s narrative is broken up in two chapters. Chapter 1 involves Yuffie arriving at Midgar and joining up with the local Wutai affiliated Avalanche branch. Basically, the organization works to undermine the Shinra Corporation that rules over Midgar. This chapter uses many of the same locations and set pieces from the base game. The sector 7 slums are copy and pasted but do include some new fun mini activities. These include the Fort Condor mini game, Ramuh battle, and turtle poster collecting. Initially, I thought I would skip the Fort Condor card game style mini game, but I played through the entire challenge and quite enjoyed it. I also appreciate the fact that the mini game is an homage to the original Final Fantasy 7’s Fort Condor area. The turtle poster collecting is also mindless fun. Chapter 2 involves infiltrating Shinra headquarters, taking on Shinra’s head of weapons development, Scarlet, and fighting the SOLDIER Nero the Sable. I enjoyed facing off against Scarlet and Nero in intense boss battles. Chapter 2 also contains a fun crate destruction based mini game. Achieving the highest score in this mini game requires almost perfect play from Yuffie and is very fun. The DLC’s ending includes an emotional send off with Yuffie suffering loss in the final moments. The emotional beats did not really land for me, but I can appreciate the narrative tale for what it is. Ultimately, FF7 Intergrade is a fantastic DLC that continues much of the base remake’s improvements with some added fun. A good story for Yuffie Kisagari. Expand

A great in-between game for FF7 remake and FF7 Rebirth, the story follows Yuffie as she dwells into Midgar. The game expands on the story with what Yuffie was doing before meeting the main group of Cloud and friends. The combat stays the same but with a new mechanic team combat. Overall its a great game to play and for those who love the story will enjoy the added side story of Yuffie.

I'll give 10 to the dlc and 9 to the main part. This is definitely the top level JRPG. The characters look good and the actions are cool. The hard level bosses are both challenging and fun, and the story is hype for the original ff7 fans. The only bad thing is there are so many time wasting side quests. Can't wait for part2 and also ff16!!!!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A Remake of perhaps my most beloved game that really accomplished what I believe it set out to do and I am very exceded to see where Square goes with this. Though it is more of a sequel reboot than a remake, I actually prefer it that way. Myself, and I feel a lot of other people, have wished they could forget about a game so they could experience it for the very first time all over again, and the remake trilogy will be the closest we ff7 fans will get to that operatunity (aside from anyone who might get amnesia). I heard a conspiracy theory before that the entire original game of ff7 was a vision in Aerith’s head; the fact that we see her face in the beginning and at the end could be used as evidence for this, but that seems a little weak. Though the remake seems to indicate that that could be true!
The only real criticisms I have with this game is that the expanded content wasn’t entirely perfect. The only chapter I felt to have been kind of unnecessary and drawn out was the revisit to the sewers in chapter 14 (it would have actually made a good side quest tho). It also would have been good if there were some side quests on top of the plate where I would like to have spent more time. A lot of the side quests they did have were a little tedious, but a few were a really nice touch and I also think the side content will likely be better in part two, as that game will probably cover more of the story and be able to more easily fit in new stuff due to the new timeline. I also didn't like it when the characters only survived because of fate, but fate is dead now, so that will be fixed in part 2 as well.
Ultimately, I cannot say I disliked or felt bored during any part of the game. I loved this game and everything else from the music, to the battle system, to the characters, to 95% of the story was perfect. Let's just hope they don't screw it up in part 2, but I've loved what they've done so far so I put my faith in them, for now anyway.

It's fantastic from start to end. Pulled many a heart string. Pros : Story is still fantastic. Graphically sound. The musical score feel very fresh bringing in the elements of the past into it.
Battles are quick and fluid. Combat system is great design. Very polished.

Cons: I feels it's a bit short. At 30 hours to 100% completion. Bummer you can't retrace steps to previous zones until the end of the game. If you missed a small detail, you will need to finish the game before you can return the to chapter.

Overall : Fantastic from start to finish. If they build from this for the next 2 enstallments, things will be looking up. 9/10

As much as I love the positive changes they did with this remake (like expanding on the relevance of some characters like jessie or the different approach of gameplay), the story changes are somewhat weird. The whispers that were introduced are immersion breaking for my taste since they feel like a deus ex machina. All around the game is fun which is why I still would rate it rather high.

    + Gorgeous
    + Incredible Combat
    + Outstanding Characters
    + Charming Dialogue
+ Magnificent Soundtrack, they didn’t need every single chapter to have its own variation on the battle theme but wow am I glad they do.
+ Story is wonderful, Midgar no longer feels like a starting city that only exists to kick the plot off, but instead like a living, breathing, city that is truly important to the cast and their development. The ending was unexpected, but makes me hopeful for how the story will continue to change in future installments.
    + 9 DIFFERENT DRESSES
    + THE HONEYBEE INN
+ The two Intermission Chapters were good, but not as good as the base game. It was interesting to see the consequences of the main party’s actions from another perspective.
    + HARD MODE
    + Chapter Select
+ Materia System is still great
+ Weapon Evolution is great, it gets rid of the old formula, [New Shop = New Weapon + Sell Old Weapon] which was boring and lame.
+ Combat simulator eventually becomes absurdly difficult, so buckle up and get good if you want that Bahamut summon.

    Cons:

-The Intermission was held back by Yuffie not being able to interact with the main party, but this could become a positive in the future because of how the story is set up for the sequel.

-The “Dressed to the Nines” Achievement requires at least 3 playthroughs of Chapter 3, Chapter 6, and Chapter 7. The choice of which dress you get for Tifa is available in Chapter 3 only after all side-quests are completed. The dress you get for Aerith is dependent on the number of side-quests completed in Chapter 6. The dress you get for Cloud is dependent both on the number of sidequests and which side-quests are completed in Chapter 7. This is tedious, especially because the game doesn’t tell you which ones you’ve previously done, only how many you’ve done, so you must keep track yourself if you want to complete the achievement after playing each chapter 3 times.

Overall this game is phenomenal. Play it. Some achievements can be tedious, and if you want to get all of the dresses, get ready for some tedium, though the reason I wanted to 100% this game in the first place was because it was so good that I actively looked for an excuse to keep playing. This game is a treat for any player.

As a long-time fan of the original Final Fantasy VII, I approached this remake with a mix of excitement and apprehension. Yet, within moments of diving into the world of Midgar once again, any doubts were washed away, replaced by sheer awe and admiration for what Square Enix has achieved.

From the moment I booted up the game, I was captivated by the stunning visuals. The enhanced graphics, thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5, are nothing short of breathtaking. The vibrant and meticulously detailed environments, the intricate character designs, and the spellbinding cinematic sequences blend seamlessly together, creating a visual feast that surpasses the boundaries of what I believed was possible.

But it's not just the graphics that make Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade shine. The gameplay has been fine-tuned to perfection. The combat system strikes a harmonious balance between the strategic elements of the original game and the real-time action of modern gaming. Each battle is a thrilling dance, requiring swift reflexes, tactical decision-making, and flawless execution. Whether you prefer hacking away with Cloud's iconic Buster Sword or casting spells with Aerith's magical prowess, every character feels unique and deeply satisfying to control.

The addition of the all-new episode featuring Yuffie Kisaragi is an absolute delight. This fan-favorite character is brought to life with incredible depth and charm, and her story intertwines seamlessly with the main narrative, providing fresh perspectives and surprises along the way. Yuffie's gameplay mechanics, with her acrobatic ninja-like moves and the lovable spirit companion, Sonon, add a new layer of excitement to the already stellar gameplay formula.

One aspect that deserves special praise is the exceptional musical score. Nobuo Uematsu's masterful compositions from the original game are reimagined and enhanced, evoking powerful emotions that complement the on-screen events perfectly. Whether it's the epic bombast of the battle themes or the heart-wrenching melodies that accompany emotionally charged moments, the soundtrack adds an extra layer of depth to an already immersive experience.

Beyond the technical and gameplay achievements, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade manages to capture the essence of the original game while introducing new surprises. The narrative is an absolute triumph, delivering a gripping and emotionally charged storyline that strikes a delicate balance between nostalgia and innovation. The characters are brought to life with such depth and authenticity that you'll find yourself invested in their journeys, sharing their joys, sorrows, and triumphs.

Square Enix has not only recreated a beloved classic but expanded upon it, raising the bar for what a remake can be. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a testament to the power of storytelling, showcasing the potential of video games as an art form. It captures the spirit of the original while pushing boundaries and challenging conventions.

In conclusion, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a masterpiece, a game that stands tall among the greatest of its generation. With its breathtaking visuals, refined gameplay mechanics, memorable characters, and a narrative that will leave you craving for more, it redefines what it means to remake a beloved classic. Whether you're a die-hard fan of the original or a newcomer to the world of Final Fantasy VII, this game is an absolute must-play, and a true testament to the power of gaming as a medium of storytelling. Prepare to be enchanted, enthralled, and ultimately, transformed by this remarkable experience.

I don't see the point of being annoyed by the changes, as the OG game will always exist, now I get to play it all again, but with twists along the way, which again is refreshing. I think I'd be slightly down had it been shot for shot the original game.

I for one welcome this new iteration with open arms and am thankful that it was even made to begin with. Bring on rebirth.

It's not meant to replace the original FFVII and I feel comparing this game to the original is basically impossible. Its as if Square took the Midgar portion of FFVII and created Season 1 of a 3 season show and more. Here's hoping Rebirth knocks it out of the park also. Absolutely experience this at 60fps (on a PS5 or PC). The buttery smooth gameplay and visuals will not disappoint. Expand

Better version of the PS4 game, smooth in every way of the word, both framerate, visuals and combat. The added missions are also great!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I liked this game so much, it made me go back to the original to play it after several years. I think the story is awesome, and it’s good that it expands all of the Midgar story (which is only the first few hours for the original game). The whole rework for the story with the ecos is really interesting, and I’m eager to know what will happen next and how they will connect the whole story. It’s a great surprise to see that this was not a remake but a sequel/reimagination (who knows) Expand

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade shows the correct way to conclude a console generation’s journey. But beware - the Intermission episode won’t really satisfy the hunger for the next instalment - on the contrary, your impatience will probably only increase.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a complete package, telling the story of Midgar from two different perspectives. Both the main campaign following Cloud and his journey, and Yuffie's own adventure, are well told with tight and responsive gameplay along with an impressive graphical update. These tales each leave exciting questions to be answered, and this reviewer can't wait to see what awaits Cloud and his friends beyond the City of Mako.

Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade is technically impressive. Fixing many of the original release’s technical issues while also improving the game for next-gen hardware. INTERmission offers an excellent character edition with that of Yuffie with some excellent gameplay to boot. Intergrade is simply more of the best parts of Final Fantasy VII Remake.
