    Given that today's Activision-Blizzard actively despises both its employees and customers, the only thing left it has left to leverage is nostalgia. But even so nice a nostalgia trip as this doesn't long distract from what an awful, craven, greedy corporation pumped it out.

    This remaster is really special by running the original game under the hood. The visuals are pretty nice but could have higher resolution when running at 60 fps. The biggest issue is you can’t scroll the map, which is a shame. Also better gamepad control scheme would be nice or support mouse/keyboard for consoles.     Game play feels good, nice quality of life buffs, nice graphics. However its bassicly the same game as diablo 2 from 2000 and the online play on console sucks.

    This game works well now. See a lot of people had issues near launch which is a shame but today it works well.

    Also this is the way an ARPG should be, instead of dumbing everything down like Diablo 3 did. all of the gameplay elements and visuals feel just right, it's amazing Blizzard allowed this to be good, since they ruined D3, Diablo Immortal, and are most likely going to ruin D4.

    The console versions online multiplayer is an ABSOLUTE SHAM. DO. NOT. BUY. THE. CONSOLE. VERSION. I bought this game because the D2 I loved had an amazingly social gameplay aspect to it, the only time I played alone was if I wanted to.     NO chat options other than a quick chat wheel. Cant even bring up a jenky 4 WPM playstation menu. Public games can be joined but 99.99999% of the time you will be alone and you will stay that way. Trading does not exist unless you use third party sites/apps which is poor design for any game.
    No lobby or game finder just ensures a vicious circle of joining and leaving trying to find someone to play with.

    I have NEVER gone and reviewed a product but I was so disappointed with this game that I hope to stop others from wasting their money on a half-A** product from a company that I used to revere with such high esteem. I will not be buying ANY more blizzard games for a long time.    … Expand

    Primitive loot system encourages just giving up looting. Not to mention those charms consuming up even more space when most of the time the player has no room for anything. The game is more of a logistic managing a warehouse full of garbage then playing a game, not fun on any level! What a ripoff and cash grab by disgusting blizzard.     Having recently been introduced to D2R by a friend, we initially hoped to play this game consistently. Since launch, servers have been extremely buggy. My friend (PS4) and I (PS5) seem to always have issues when playing online together. He (or I) will constantly get kicked. This will happen every 10 minutes or so. The game in itself is very good, and I am enjoying it even though some keyHaving recently been introduced to D2R by a friend, we initially hoped to play this game consistently. Its as though Blizzard only wants you to play solo in order to prolong the life of the game. Match making is almost non-existent. I have searched many times for other players (at various times of the day due to my Timezone), and rarely find anyone running something at any given time.

    There are a number other features which only seem to be available on PC and not console.

    Overall, when it launched it felt very broken, and queue times being introduced did not make it any better. However, it has smoothed out a little, and the game is enjoyable for me, even as a new player.    … Expand

    You'll need an internet connection even to play offline. You can loose your progress anytime. You can not refund your purchase. I feel scammed. It's s beta-quality game for a full price.

    but the key thing of Diablo - one we loved and appreciated from bnet times - lobbies are just missing on console version. That is weird as all high-level content is about trading and grouping up with other players. Now I have 50 lvl char and for the time being I have met only 3 (!!!) players in party finder for the whole gaming    the remaster is good enough. Runs smooth and great.

    I got "WTF" on a start release. I got everything tech.lags in me first character. But now is game have no more big problems. This game looks like as on my dream. And this absolutely hardcore game play experience. 10/10

    99 level for two characters and one of them on Hardcore mode, without booster of XP - 1000+ ours!!! For the Platinum trophy. This is insane.

    Не играл в оригинал, получал удовольствие от игры один и получал удовольствие от игры при игре с братом. Чего-то такого и ждал от игры, где накатанный фильтр на классическую игру, был приятно удивлен.

    Но на этом все, к сожалению для меня много локаций, которые не сильно выделяются пейзажами и все акты в одной тематике, про тех составляющую игру, я молчу тоже:)    Не играл в оригинал, получал удовольствие от игры один и получал удовольствие от игры при игре с братом. The entire server infrastructure is completely fake and has unearthed a bunch of Cheaters and dupers.

    A desperate attempt to renew a great classic ... unfortunately unsuccessful. Not giving a refund to whoever requested it when the game had files on the servers of 200 people and another Failure. Having practically closed the offices in France after his release proves once again an administrative failure of this company, already involved in harassment and exploitation on the Job .     If you have played Diablo 2 on PC prior to resurrected than you realize this game is built for online play... Trading, farming, grinding levels, etc. On PC you don't have to play with 8 people to get more loot. You can just set the game to 8 player difficulty and get that same XP and loot.     Its not D2 as I remember nor is it D3. It is solo Diablo 2 with a ridiculous loot wall at the end. Buy the PC version or stay clear.    … Expand

There is now a waiting queue to connect to Battle.net, and you’ll spend more of your time waiting to connect than you do actually playing.     Nice remaster (or remake?)...great work from Blizzard (only in this point). Diablo 2 Resurrected is funny and awesome game and I didnt played it on his OG Diablo 2 but this remasters's shinny and runs smooths well!

    Only issue is support of Blizzard , and his management server.....

    Totally unplayable thing. I played it only first week after release. After the first week all my tries to play with my network character failed. With different reasons:
    - server errors
    - bugged Pathan with not working “start play” button
    - hours to wait queues to log in. Tried to refund it with Sony, but they refused because I played a couple hours the first week :/

I should have been able to download the game, boot it up, and jump in but nooooo someone put an idiot in charge of making this game run

    Literal queue to get in servers are trash this game should have been delayed hard and server capacity tested it takes me 1 to 2 hours to get In and still runs just as bad as always save your money or wait for patches this is some cyberpunk levels of broken server side id give this game a negative if I could delay your game if it not ready

    Really wish I could give this game a 10 cause I love it when I can actually play it. But everyday since release in the mornings atleast this game has been unplayable. If your thinking about getting this game dont or expect to be really dissatisfied...

    Great game, stunning visuals and it feels that developers did a great job.
    However, it's all doesn't matter when you lost all your progress for two days with all your exp, gold and items just because of the server issue even playing offline mode! Horrible experience, and I'd advice to wait for a month or two before considering the purchase of this game.

    VIcarious Visions made a grat job remastering the art,graphics,sound and cutscenes and also keeping the classic flavour. No complaints there.
    The problem? Blizzard,as usual. They managed to ruin this classic by having poor servers making this unplayable even on offline mode. Also the game is plagued with bugs, black screen of death that can delete your progress, connection    VIcarious Visions made a grat job remastering the art,graphics,sound and cutscenes and also keeping the classic flavour. No complaints there.
    The problem? Blizzard,as usual. They managed to ruin this classic by having poor servers making this unplayable even on offline mode. Also the game is plagued with bugs, black screen of death that can delete your progress, connection issues,crashes,skills not working. Also the console version lacks integral features like lobbies or a good communication system with other players.     Can rarely get into the game because of the server que. Then when you do finally get get in your characters are missing or deleted. When the game did kind of work not everyone in my party was able to connect or they got randomly removed from the game. And this is almost a month after release

Таким хамским отношением к игрокам они роют себе могилу. Мы заплатили деньги и не можем получить продукт. Сначала не пускали на сервера, теперь сидишь в очереди по 150 человек...Поставил единицу за то, что в игру просто невозможно поиграть.     I am writing this review 28 days and 4 patches after the launch while I am "waiting in queue" to finally play the game. Not expecting to be successful TBH, maybe next year. After launch - managed to log in about 80 percent of the times, game full of bugs.

    First patch - "error connecting to battle.net". Second patch - all of my online characters and stash disappeared. Third patch -    I am writing this review 28 days and 4 patches after the launch while I am "waiting in queue" to finally play the game. Not expecting to be successful TBH, maybe next year. After launch - managed to log in about 80 percent of the times, game full of bugs.

    First patch - "error connecting to battle.net".
    Second patch - all of my online characters and stash disappeared.
    Third patch - characters are back but cannot click on "Play", stuck in main menu.
    Fourth patch - "Connecting to battle.net. Position in queue: 149".

    Do not buy any console version of this game. No lobbies, no chat, MM is broken, bugs and server issues. There are some performance issues and sometimes game is struggling to run smoothly. Console will HARD CRASH is console geos to rest mode with D2R suspended. Customer service is useless.

    Graphics are nice and it is fun to play when it works. Loading is much quicker compared to PS4    Do not buy any console version of this game.     It gets a 1 because when it actually works it's great. But since launch there have been countless issues with playing online (the best and only way to play this game in my opinion), and has now reached a point where console players can't actually play the game online at all. Until they fix the servers, which could be quite some time (if at all), do NOT buy the game. It's a waste of money.

And don't worry, most of the people will forget that they couldn't even login to play your lazy port. They continue praising you as usual because you can make very beautiful wow cinematics.     The game is barely functioning, not even talking about the amount of bugs in the game.
    You don't even have the ability to play since the servers are always unavailable.
    It is obvious that Blizzard didn't want to put any money on resources for this game, hence the terrible servers.
    After warcraft 3 reforged, and cyberpunk i can't trust any company. last pre order I ever make for any game.

    Best game ever - Remastered! All good, graphics have 2 modes(including 60fps). Sound is great!! Servers repaired, dont cry babies. But Vicarious visions can you remaster INVENTORY, please.

    It is an amazing and legendary game with a lot of nostalgic value. The resurrected version looks good. But the performance by Blizzard with the server and patch issues is just unacceptable. Have they not tested anything before rolling it out?

    I bought the game on 10/03 and, as for today(10/16), I was able to play just two times. The servers are always down, then there was a bug introduced with an update which basically prevented the "play" button to load the game. Now blizzard implemented a queue system on pc, and they forgot to patch the console servers, so you can't even connect to bnet servers at all.     Diablo 2 was a fantastic game, but it came out 21 years ago. The genre has moved on and this reboot offers nothing new for the price of a full game. It just doesn't make sense. Has been published purely to cash in on old IP.

    An epic journey, a legendary game rezurrected anew. With great graphics, quality of life improvements and endless replayability. This title has remained the greatest among many and was still quite popular even up until the re-release 20 years later. Diablo 2 has aged like a fine wine. With a compelling soundtrack, epic story and satisfying progression. A must buy for any ARPG fan.

    I'm giving it 3 more days before I go for a refund.

    I created account just for the sake of writing this. Diablo 2 r might look nice, sound nice and play nice but because garbage servers you will keep on losing progress due to constant rollbacks, not mentioning half of the time servers being down making the game simply unplayable. Unless this got fixed I sould advise staying away from this joke.

    D2R was released in September as a completed game. Blizzard's servers have been unplayable. Often, server down times result in loss of items and loss of experience. I do not recommend purchasing what appears to be an unplayable incomplete game.

    I'd love to give this an 8. It plays great. Looks and sounds like a carefully updated take on the original.

    Unfortunately, character saving is broken.
    My first (offline) character had about a days worth of play rolled back. Lost my progress to act 3 and several good items.
    My second (online) character vanished completely tonight.
    There is no point in playing if I can't keep progress.

    It's new skin just like advertised...that's it. to me it seems there could have been some minor quality of life improvements that would have made the game more enjoyable, but other than that it's the same game from 20 years ago, with a fresh coat of paint....and for me I just couldn't get back into it after 20 years with no improvements other than updated graphics.

    --builds are too exclusive. put everything into 3/4 skills, that's it. It does not leave a lot of room for playing about and experimentation, as you only get 1 reset per playthrough.
    --the overall environment is designed to piss you off with every room having lots of obstacles. In comparison with D3, it just means gameplay isn't smooth.
    --the characters are as ugly as hell. not a major thing, but noted.
    --same flaws with certain classes. e.g. Necromancer summoner being an obvious one. you have a lot of skeletons and a golem, you walk into diablos lair, one fire blast, they are all dead, and now you have no bodies to raise more skeletons. this means you are in deep trouble. In D3, they solved this by allowing you to create your own bodies/skeletons.

    The overall the game is fun enough, but it suffers from the lack of lessons learned in future games.    … Expand

    I played Diablo 2 a lot when I was younger and this remaster hits the spot for me. I bought it a week or 2 after release and have had no problem with bugs or the servers. People review bombing this game are clowns who find anything to be upset about. Great remaster would recommend

    Having beat Diablo III almost 10 years ago, I felt compelled to try this one as I saw in the videos that it was a little more darker and gothic. But what I saw was a repetitive experience that soon got me stressed out and wanting to put down the controller to keep going.

    SETTING
    You are an adventurer who starts in a camp and then are given several missions that you need to complete in order to move the game. You are set on a quest to understand what happened to Diablo, and from there on is pretty straight forward… you talk to people, you get quests, you kill not hundreds but thousands of enemies in a repetitive way, get loot, sell loot, buy new gear, get more powerful. The old formula could have worked out if it were not for the tediousness of the gameplay

    MECHANICS
    • Combat:
    This is it!
    You either let the button pressed to attack automatically or press the attack button and try to combine your different skills to take down hundreds of enemies. They will overwhelm you, and you will die… you just smash them, run away, get back, and keep repeating the same thing all over again for millions of times.
    You will die a lot in this game, you will lose your gear and you will have to rush back to claim back the lost gear and gold. I mean, this game was released over 20 years ago and at that time, this gameplay mechanic was great, but nowadays it feels just bad… you get the freaking “X” of a hit being missed on your foes all the time… but you enemies will continuously land strikes at their leisure without any issues. That is discouraging and boring!

    • Menu and NPC management:
    Skills are simple and character progression is based on how strong your weapons are. Your stats are really for getting better equipment, not for anything else. Every time you get a level you can upgrade skills, any skill you want from the skill tree. If you want to unlock new skills, you need to keep working on the paths of the skill tree, or just focus on a single specific ability. I went out as a Paladin and the regeneration skill for vitality was my favorite one, but there are plenty.
    In terms of understanding the world, you just do the usual stuff: talk to people, get quests, go to the specific point, kill the enemies and bosses, complete the task, go back and talk to your NPC. Nothing new here, nothing complicated

    • Exploration
    I would love to say is the best part of the game, but the minimalistic inventory management makes you go back to town to either sell goods or store them in your chest. You can easily get your inventory stacked up with the hundreds of enemies coming at you ceaselessly. I did not like the approach of having seas of foes all about you

    VISUALS
    This is one of the strong areas of the game. I like the models, they are darker and grimmer than Diablo III, and that is amazing. Animations are more fluid, and the overall feeling is that all graphics were beautifully enhanced. From the NPCs to the dark caves with very little light, to the blood and guts coming out of foes… the game is gorgeous in the graphic department

    SOUND
    The acoustics in the game are amazing. The music is damn good. I really liked it and now I understand from where the score of Diablo III got its inspiration. Voice acting is well done, and sounds are great. The overall ambient of sounds and music is what kept me going to explore more regardless of the repetitive and boring gameplay.

    FINAL VERDICT:
    My final Verdict is a 5.0 for this game.
    You need to be a hardcore fan of the series to get this game as it is packed with revamped nostalgia, but the overall gameplay is completely outdated, and for mem a casual RPG gamer, I cannot bear to manage the same repetitive cycle over, and over again: kill, loot, sell, buy, improve.
    It did not sell to me… I bought the digital edition, so I cannot ask for a refund, but if you like that sort of gameplay, the visuals and the sounds will get you and you will find yourself immerse in an amazing experience, but this is not my kind of game. I reached 3 times Act3 and the game crashed and sent me back to the start of act 2. we are talking around 10 hours of gameplay from act2 to act3. f@ck you blizzard. really. i was a fan since warcraft1 but this is enough. you f-us once with warcraft3 remake, you did it withUnbelievable.     Pretty sad that this one gets review bombed. My two favorite games growing up where Warcraft III and Diablo II. And for the record I completely hated the Warcraft III remaster and I hate what's happened to Blizzard in the last years.
    This remaster of Dialbo 2 is as good as a remaster can be, just an amazing job leaving the game intact and adding some small quality of life improvements.    Pretty sad that this one gets review bombed. My two favorite games growing up where Warcraft III and Diablo II. And for the record I completely hated the Warcraft III remaster and I hate what's happened to Blizzard in the last years.

    D2:R passes the 2020 test and then some. The graphics are good as any modern game. The animations are all redone. The spells look absolutely beautiful... all the while, the sounds are remastered originals. AI is designed from original source code. Level design is unchanged. The abusable things are still abusable. This is the Diablo 2 you remember, and it still kicks ass.

    But VV's added some 2020 to the papa of RNGesus. For example, you never had things like "auto gold pick-up", or a friend's list in the lobby to quickly join your buddies, or an ability to compare items side by side without flipping between the two. Monumental additions these are not - VV changes to the D2 are helpful in the background =because= any changes in a remaster ought to be barely noticeable (Warcraft reforged being example of what not to do).

    Some will say - I don't know what to do! The game never told me! No "information book with the CD" anymore! No guidance on how to play! That's exactly why D2:R is an awesome game to play. Modern games have so much handholding for even the dimmest person to figure out "X means attack". In Diablo 2's time, it was sink or swim as a gamer. "Here's a masterpiece dungeon crawler - it's not rocket science, but it's on you to discover the details for yourself. You're going to die trying." Or just Google it, you dolt.

    Some will say - organizing items is a pain. Did you run out scroll of town portal? Maybe if you stopped picking up useless garbage like a vacuum cleaner, it wouldn't be so bad. Besides this is a 20 year old game that said "suck it up princess". VV even gave you 4 extra stashes shared across characters, so you don't need mules to transfer items anymore. Hey look - another nice 2020 touch, without violating the spirit of the game. That's what I'm talking about.

    While the remaster brings little new to the table other than a fresh coat of paint, cross play and remade cutscenes. Diablo II and its expansion feel as exciting, threatening and as ruthless as ever. The lions share of the quality-of-life improvements are found in the console version, with an excellent use of the controller, added hotkeys and general accessibility. Yet, the remaster does nothing to dumb down or meddle with the overall experience. Instead, for returning players, this is Diablo II as you remember it to be. For new players, while missing a lot of features that most ARPGS have today, there is a lot to love about this aging gem and it is still worth experiencing even decades later.

    Diablo II is one of the best ARPG's in gaming history, and Vicarious Visions haven't made many changes for Diablo II: Resurrected. Visually, there's a stark difference and it looks great while keeping the atmosphere. A few quality of life changes help keep this fresh and make it playable on consoles, but it just doesn't go far enough at points. This ageing master may have had a facelift, and it's one you can have a fantastic time with, but you can hear the creaking of its bones.

    Certainly it's great to see an all time classic enshrined and restored for modern day use. Additionally it opens up the game to exclusively console players that never played the original Diablo 2 on PC. There's no denying its significance in gaming history, and looks wonderfully sharp in 4k, but the age of the source code is evident. Diablo faithfuls will get a great nostalgic kick on the clunky ever-grind that is Diablo 2: Resurrected, but it would be a difficult recommendation for any series newcomers.
