    I'd love to give this an 8. It plays great. Looks and sounds like a carefully updated take on the original.

    Unfortunately, character saving is broken.
    My first (offline) character had about a days worth of play rolled back. Lost my progress to act 3 and several good items.
    My second (online) character vanished completely tonight.
    There is no point in playing if I can't keep progress.

    That aside, they have succeeded in absolutely nothing. They promised us the same experience when they stole our 40 euro's. They had a blueprint of a 20 year old game, and still they manage to ruin the entire experience.
    Simply put, the game on console has no chat, no lobbies and no stable servers. In summary, you're playing a single player of diablo 2, which will decline you access half of the time. To my opinion, an absolute display of incompetence, obvious greed and lack of respect toward their customers
    Never again, will those leeches receive my hard earned wage.
    The guy that thought implementing a disused party finder was a great improvement, should get his ass kicked, over and over again.    … Expand

    The game itself is ok, but most of the time I can't Play because servers don't work. Company approach to the client is awful and disrespectful. Last game i bought from this company.

    Purchased this on PS5 after having the PC version so I could use the cross save to play from the couch when I wanted. The last 5 days since purchasing on PS5 the servers have been down during my play window. I tried to get a refund since I was only able to play 1 night out of 6 days of having the game (total play time less than an hour) but was refused. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. First off, I'm disgusted by the fact they thought it clever to give use a malfunctioning party finder, instead of a proper lobby. Thanks, blizzard.     The game isn't bad initially, but it would have been great to see fixes to outdated gamedesign decisions: inventory, potions, resurrection and running to your items with minus 70% resistance on hell difficulty.
    But omg, typical Blizzard. The servers have been down for the last week. They can only take your stuff out of your    40 bucks for not being able to play 5 days in a row? No way!!!?

    but the key thing of Diablo - one we loved and appreciated from bnet times - lobbies are just missing on console version. That is weird as all high-level content is about trading and grouping up with other players. Now I have 50 lvl char and for the time being I have met only 3 (!!!) players in party finder for the whole gaming    the remaster is good enough. Runs smooth and great.

    No lobby or game finder just ensures a vicious circle of joining and leaving trying to find someone to play with.

    I have NEVER gone and reviewed a product but I was so disappointed with this game that I hope to stop others from wasting their money on a half-A** product from a company that I used to revere with such high esteem. I will not be buying ANY more blizzard games for a long time.    … Expand

    Best game ever - Remastered! All good, graphics have 2 modes(including 60fps). Sound is great!! Servers repaired, dont cry babies. But Vicarious visions can you remaster INVENTORY, please.

    Ps. Bad servers working. Its zero. And hate all next blizzards game.

    A desperate attempt to renew a great classic ... unfortunately unsuccessful. Not giving a refund to whoever requested it when the game had files on the servers of 200 people and another Failure. Having practically closed the offices in France after his release proves once again an administrative failure of this company, already involved in harassment and exploitation on the Job .     Ive had the game almost a full 2 weeks. No new patches. Game consistently crashes. Sometimes losing hours of play time. Absolutely unacceptable to not implement an autosave feature.

    That being said I play almost exclusively aRPGs. I knew what D2 Resurrected would be and I knew what it would not.

I woke up this morning, logged in, only to find my character once again was rolled back to the end of Act 2, all my drops gone, and lost multiple levels. Again.

    Now I have 2 kids a 3.5 year old and an 8 month old. I work 60 hours a week. For $40 and a multi billion dollar company, these issues are inexcusable. Honestly like come on it's not even a full new game it is a remaster. Why these companies think this is just par for course is beyond me. There is no excuse for this and I just warn anyone looking to buy this game to just wait a bit. We all want to play the latest and greatest right now, but I can't begin to express how frustrating it is to play a new game littered with issues like this. Buyer beware.    … Expand

    I thought that it is easy to make the same game 20 years later, but something went wrong. This game is just rubbish. It disconnects, it says that you don’t have the character anymore and you need to make it again, that you don’t have Internet connection, but I have 500 Mb/s! And it has the longest downloads for 2021! I wanted to send this game back to Blizzard, but I was refused for return!

    Lack of chat and ability to create your own „named” game kills the endgame on consoles. It was supposed to be a Return of the great classic and we have a half-product. Blizzard don’t care about console players.

    cant even log into the game. played the beta and ran the game perfectly. They admitted that they accidently turned on avx after the beta into live and that was unintentional. Then they decide to fix in game issues and focus on streamers instead of fixing the avx that is stopping 10s of thousands of players from playing a game they pre ordered. What was the point of bragging about how much attention to detail was given to replicate the original’s graphics if you couldn’t get the basics of the character models right? Blizzard knew the outrage from fans over the changes they made to the character designs and doesn’t seem to care and released it in this condition anyway. The only reason I gave this game a 1 is that you can switch back to the original uncensored graphics but that kind of defeats the purpose of buying a remaster in the first place and that doesn’t really fix the ugly models which are still present.     You can basically only play single player on console. Terrible lobby system. Just buy it on PC. I would not recommend buying it on console, unless you like playing SSF.

    If blizzard don’t take action this game will be dead on arrival on consoles. And knowing blizzard I am not holding my breath.

And don't worry, most of the people will forget that they couldn't even login to play your lazy port. They continue praising you as usual because you can make very beautiful wow cinematics.     If you have played Diablo 2 on PC prior to resurrected than you realize this game is built for online play... Trading, farming, grinding levels, etc. On PC you don't have to play with 8 people to get more loot. You can just set the game to 8 player difficulty and get that same XP and loot. The lobby is not included, the player numbers are non-existent and the game feels completely empty.

    Its not D2 as I remember nor is it D3. It is solo Diablo 2 with a ridiculous loot wall at the end. Buy the PC version or stay clear.    … Expand

    I bought the game on 10/03 and, as for today(10/16), I was able to play just two times. The servers are always down, then there was a bug introduced with an update which basically prevented the "play" button to load the game. Now blizzard implemented a queue system on pc, and they forgot to patch the console servers, so you can't even connect to bnet servers at all.     Diablo 2 was a fantastic game, but it came out 21 years ago. The genre has moved on and this reboot offers nothing new for the price of a full game. It just doesn't make sense. Has been published purely to cash in on old IP.

There is now a waiting queue to connect to Battle.net, and you’ll spend more of your time waiting to connect than you do actually playing.     It is an amazing and legendary game with a lot of nostalgic value. The resurrected version looks good. But the performance by Blizzard with the server and patch issues is just unacceptable. Have they not tested anything before rolling it out?

    The game is barely functioning, not even talking about the amount of bugs in the game.
    You don't even have the ability to play since the servers are always unavailable.
    It is obvious that Blizzard didn't want to put any money on resources for this game, hence the terrible servers.
    After warcraft 3 reforged, and cyberpunk i can't trust any company. last pre order I ever make for any game.

    I had great fun with the game until last week, first i lost all of my online characters, then after the newest patch i can't even press play, id doesn't do anything.
    I'm giving it 3 more days before I go for a refund.

    D2R was released in September as a completed game. Blizzard's servers have been unplayable. Often, server down times result in loss of items and loss of experience. I do not recommend purchasing what appears to be an unplayable incomplete game.

    I created account just for the sake of writing this. Diablo 2 r might look nice, sound nice and play nice but because garbage servers you will keep on losing progress due to constant rollbacks, not mentioning half of the time servers being down making the game simply unplayable. Unless this got fixed I sould advise staying away from this joke.

    It gets a 1 because when it actually works it's great. But since launch there have been countless issues with playing online (the best and only way to play this game in my opinion), and has now reached a point where console players can't actually play the game online at all. Until they fix the servers, which could be quite some time (if at all), do NOT buy the game. It's a waste of money.

    First patch - "error connecting to battle.net". Second patch - all of my online characters and stash disappeared. Third patch -    I am writing this review 28 days and 4 patches after the launch while I am "waiting in queue" to finally play the game. Not expecting to be successful TBH, maybe next year.     Can rarely get into the game because of the server que. Then when you do finally get get in your characters are missing or deleted. When the game did kind of work not everyone in my party was able to connect or they got randomly removed from the game. And this is almost a month after release

    Great game, stunning visuals and it feels that developers did a great job.
    However, it's all doesn't matter when you lost all your progress for two days with all your exp, gold and items just because of the server issue even playing offline mode! Horrible experience, and I'd advice to wait for a month or two before considering the purchase of this game.

    Literal queue to get in servers are trash this game should have been delayed hard and server capacity tested it takes me 1 to 2 hours to get In and still runs just as bad as always save your money or wait for patches this is some cyberpunk levels of broken server side id give this game a negative if I could delay your game if it not ready

    Totally unplayable thing. I played it only first week after release. After the first week all my tries to play with my network character failed. With different reasons:
    - server errors
    - bugged Pathan with not working “start play” button
    - hours to wait queues to log in. Tried to refund it with Sony, but they refused because I played a couple hours the first week :/

    You'll need an internet connection even to play offline. You can loose your progress anytime. You can not refund your purchase. I feel scammed. It's s beta-quality game for a full price.

    While the remaster brings little new to the table other than a fresh coat of paint, cross play and remade cutscenes. Diablo II and its expansion feel as exciting, threatening and as ruthless as ever. The lions share of the quality-of-life improvements are found in the console version, with an excellent use of the controller, added hotkeys and general accessibility. Yet, the remaster does nothing to dumb down or meddle with the overall experience. Instead, for returning players, this is Diablo II as you remember it to be. For new players, while missing a lot of features that most ARPGS have today, there is a lot to love about this aging gem and it is still worth experiencing even decades later.

    Diablo II is one of the best ARPG's in gaming history, and Vicarious Visions haven't made many changes for Diablo II: Resurrected. Visually, there's a stark difference and it looks great while keeping the atmosphere. A few quality of life changes help keep this fresh and make it playable on consoles, but it just doesn't go far enough at points. This ageing master may have had a facelift, and it's one you can have a fantastic time with, but you can hear the creaking of its bones.

    Certainly it's great to see an all time classic enshrined and restored for modern day use. Additionally it opens up the game to exclusively console players that never played the original Diablo 2 on PC. There's no denying its significance in gaming history, and looks wonderfully sharp in 4k, but the age of the source code is evident. Diablo faithfuls will get a great nostalgic kick on the clunky ever-grind that is Diablo 2: Resurrected, but it would be a difficult recommendation for any series newcomers.
