    Death loop succeeds in making a great visual and graphic game but fails to make it fun or wanting me to keep playing, I felt bored and just wanted to stop playing, with its repetitive combat bland story and feels very familiar to a game, and just falls short hard.

    I enjoyed this game quite a bit. The customizable weapons and slabs as well as the character trinkets really feel like you can make your own build. It's an action game at heart and as far as the gameplay the only complaints I have is that the AI is a little iffy and I expected more variety in the trinkets and a few more weapons would have been nice.too. The endings do leave a bit to be desired I've seen two of them and on one of them you're not really sure exactly what's going on and so it's hard to tell what a sequel will handle as far as continuing the franchise. Either way I give this game a high score simply based on the fact of how much fun I had playing it it's a great new IP. P.s.     I'm going to be really surprised this this doesn't get game of the year for 2021. The gameplay is amazing and addictive making it hard for me to not "try one more run". The gunplay doesn't feel the best but everything else is great.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For starters one of the more interesting themes for a game I’ve played in a long time and the story was very good. The dialogue between Colt and Julianna is amazingly written and portrayed even better. The controls are great never had a problem remembering any control binds.
    The game has a lot of exposition which if you like that kinda stuff this game is definitely for you. The endgame was kind of disappointing with each of the 3 choices leading you to a rather disappointing ending. The game has some of the worst AI I’ve experienced in a game, on launch day I had lots of bugs and a few crashes but after the first day the game ran smooth with no problems. It took me 14 hours to beat the game, that was with me looking around and searching like I usually do. If you knew what you were doing you could probably beat it a lot faster. I feel an 8 is a pretty fair rating, It’s too bad any PS fan who likes this game won’t be able to play a sequel thanks to MS.    … Expand

    Great Setting, exciting gameplay, good storytelling, nice voiceacting. The only annoying point:
    The mission menue isn’t smart. Good ideas,
    but strange handling. But at the end one of the best games this year on PS5.

    Meh. It wasn't awful, but it does feel very outdated, and I didn't really care about any of the characters. This is another one of those games where I'm left wondering if the critics played the same thing I did.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Having come from pc gaming to a ps5, the FOV and lack of an FOV slider that is present on other ps5 games is the only frustrating thing. It takes a minute to get used to it, and it's a LOT of systems, "quests" and the day part system treating 4 levels like 16, it's VERY over whelming. But when it clicks, it clicks like a helicopter seatbelt. It's fantastic if you don't mind just exploring and looking for your objective. There is a definitive way to best the game, but there are optional ways to kill the visionaries early or in a different order to trigger different events. Its not the most complicated part of the clock but that cog fits well. It's fantastic in derailing the player and telling them to figure it out.

    It is VERY over hyped. The beginning being so confusing turned me away a lot, and the very underwhelming ending felt like it didn't pay off to grind the same day part or level over and over again to chip away at a certain quest line. But in the middle, there is a decent game to just get lost in and have some fun. Wait for a sale    … Expand

    This game fundamentally does not respect your time. It is designed to waste your time. Modern games have save points because they consider the gamer/audience.     AI is wonk - most is braindead idiots... but one in 10 can one shot you from no where - beware.

    The game consists of only 4 small zones that are rehashed over and over.

    This game might be worth $30.

    The enemies have no character, they are just drab 70s looking clowns.

    It's an 'ok' game - probably a 7.

    But my god - think about God of War, Last of Us, Spiderman - those are games that blow you away and didn't get as many 10s as this. They are huge game worlds, with amazing stories and not reuse same 4 small zones.

    And the story - honestly I'm 10 hours in and frankly 'who gives a sh*t' - nothing about this island or the story is captivating. Just like the character always wonders what he's doing on this island - me as the gamer wonder why I'm wasting my time on this island too.

    Trading this one in - good luck to someone else to find enjoyment with it.    … Expand

It’s time loop mechanics worked well and the story moved along at a good speed, but it’s with Deathloops AI where the game starts to fall apart. The AI is so bad it breaks the immersion in an almost excellent First Person Shooter. Another problem Deathloop has is it’s Ray-Tracing Mode which says it’s locked at 30FPS but atDeathloop is a unique game like nothing I have every played before.     -The game looks, plays, and sounds fine it’s not outdated while I will say the quick-swap/d-pad buttons took a little bit to getting used to, but after roughly an hour in it felt great to use. I already talked about how it plays above, but if I hear any more people complaining about the sound design I'm going to scream because the score and sound cues are some of the best I've EVER heard.

    -Finally, while bugs are a problem they didn’t really hinder my experience that much maybe 2 or 3 crashes

    (I also think this hate stems from the immersive sim community expecting perfection from everything. take cyberpunk for example sure a bad game but it still got WAY too much hate.)    … Expand

    One of the best games I've ever played. Amazing. level design is one of the smartest iv come across, AI can be questionable at times but what game isn’t these days, that roguelite immersive sim where you need to look for clues instead of being streamlined down a road and looking at icons on a map.It's just fun to play.

    The people review bombing are salty idiots mad over a game they clearly didn't play. Phenomenal game from start to finish, genuinely enjoyed it from start to finish. The trailers honestly made it look a lot less interesting than it ended up being. Lot of replayability and freedom, and the game just looks pretty. Hoping for a sequel.

    Real strong game. Its not rougelike, its great AAA.
    If you like Bioshock, Dishonored this game 100% for you.
    Idea of looped game process not New but here it originaly realized and its Best and fresh. Cool style of 80th in desing and music, Everything is awesome.
    Fun and interesting plot. Including pvp in main campaing. Lot of secrets.

I got it on release day and it took me until today to beat it. Not because it's long, but because I got bored and annoyed with it. The opening hours are boring, the closing hours are climactic, but not great, and the ending I got was dreadful. It's a real shame the game is so monotonous because it really looks great, and I love the concepts with regards to gunplay and the like, but I found there weren't enough good guns in the game that you could use anywhere, so I tended to just use melee. I'd recommend it when it gets cheap. £60 is an incredibly high price for what you get in my opinion. That said, I can't wait for any DLC or future games from arkane.… Expand

    After getting past the introduction and into the looting and infusing, this game has an extraordinary gameplay loop. It is a shame I can no longer trust user averages when making educated purchasing decisions. I am glad I trusted the critics this time.

    It is a 9 that I am bumping 10 in order to counter the bot bombing.

    Is it a fun game? Yes. Is it innovative? Kind of. Did you enjoy the multiplayer? Hell no. I would still consider this to be a good game, but I feel like this game has potentials that the developers were just too reluctant to work on.

    Death loop is so good ,the gameplay the story ,the music everything about the game is great, i like how creative it is with the powers and the time loop thing is used very well !! And how it makes you think and get better each loop ..I don’t have any negatives to be honest its my personal game of the year so far !!

Each level at each time period is different, with whole new level stages and different enemy layout, so no not just 4 levels there are 16 technically. Also, once you actually play the game a bit, especially play it online, you understand the level design better, the design is kind of brilliant because it is designed to work as a single player and multiplayer map. Playing online you get to see how thought the levels are small, they have an almost open world aspect to them as you can leap through the map and climb almost everything, finding caverns and extra rooms depending on which time it is. To those dissing the graphics, I don't know maybe you have a bad TV, I thought the graphics, along with level design and character design were awesome and unlike anything I've seen before in a game. The gunplay does take a little while to get used to. It isn't like a typical FPS because this game isn't really a typical FPS, the use of powers which you progressively get make the pacing of the gunplay much more clear, I thought it felt awkward for the first couple of hours I played the game too, then it kind of clicked and I saw how it worked. Anyway, the hate is totally unwarranted and comes from people not understanding what they are getting into (even though the first two hours+ of the game explains it all to you). A lot of people complain about things that are just part of how the game is supposed to be. If you don't like it, fair enough, but to suggest this is a bad game is ridiculous. Also, clearly there is a campaign against the game, this has biased and distorted the reviews. A lot of people likely went in with all the noise from the campaign and had it bias their perspectives too. It is too bad because we cannot actually get a genuine review of what players actually think of the game because there are so many zeros and low scores that are by people who haven't played it or who went in with no intention of liking it, not fair reviews of the game. The bad reviews, and mediocre reviews are full of clear misunderstandings of the game mechanics and design right off the bat that people who actually have played through the game more than just a little bit, have done the whole online bit, and really dug into the game know right away these reviews are from biased brains who haven't given it a fair chance at all.… Expand

    The mission/lead setup seems novel at first but you quickly realise everyone plays exactly the same and it all takes place on 4 areas which are about the size of an average 6v6 cod map which obviously gets tedious very quickly especially as you keep having to go in and out of areas and advancing time and figuring stuff out yourself and repeating over and over and over again. It’s so unrewarding and doesn’t match the grossly outdated gameplay. The story seems decent but it’s a chore to follow with all the hoops you have to jump through just to play the game. This game feels like a £20 indie rather than a full priced headliner. Worth that price if you are willing to do almost all immersive legwork yourself and don’t mind an extremely slow paced repetitive grind. Otherwise avoid.    … Expand

Deathloop really wants you to think that it's funny and clever, but about half of the writing was just painful to listen to. I chuckled a few times at lines like 'f*** your fried eggs' but hearing it every time I looped through another day it started to lose it's potency.

    Repetition is the core conceit of Deathloop and, for the most part, it's pretty neat. Every day is the same and everyone within goes through the same motions each time unaware that it's happening... with the exception of Colt and Julianna. These two remember things day to day and it's gratifying to use Colt's stored knowledge of enemy behaviors against them. Julianna wants to maintain the loop for...reasons while Colt sees it as a prison that he wants to break out of.

    I enjoyed the premise behind these characters' motivation, but the execution was off. Julianna will invade your world [which can be another player if you're not in offline mode: hard pass] and try to prevent you from killing the 'visionaries' whose death will break the loop. I hated this. I can't tell you how many times I was 30 to 45 minutes into a loop and she would show up with a randomly selected loadout of buff powers only to alert every enemy of my presence. This feels like a cheap, unearned penalty and works counter to one of the game's main strengths; the feeling that you are mastering your surroundings by memorizing patrol patterns, enemy placements, optimal routes, etc. I would have much preferred Julianna's presence to be a bit more scripted since I found it almost exclusively frustrating to restart a loop because she ruined a segment of it. The saving grace of these encounters is that she provides valuable resources and upgrades when defeated.

    Decking Colt out with these upgrades was really fun. finding that perfect combination of character and weapon perks while committing valuable 'Residuum' [Deathloop's version of XP] to the preservation and destruction of certain upgrades was compelling. Using Colt's powers [called Slabs] in tandem with the weighty gunplay was great and made even better by all the nasty ways that he can dispatch enemies. The machete is such a great weapon.

    It was, however, annoying to deal with some of Deathloop's technical issues that would get in the way of my progression and fun. There is a serious 'pause' bug that soft locks the game in the pause screen and makes you lose your progress for that time period of the day [Deathloop's days are divided into morning, noon, afternoon, and evening] since you are forced to restart the game. This happened to me 4 times in my playthrough. I also ran into a bug that would prevent me from upgrading my gear at the end of a loop which, again, required me to restart the game. This combined with some buggy implementation of powers, framerate drops [for the most part the game maintains close to 60 fps on ps5], abhorrent UI, and repetitious/bad dialog really hold Deathloop back from being an easy recommend.

    By the end of Deathloop, I was satisfied. Slowly manipulating the world and the characters within to eventually create that perfect day of breaking the loop was so cool. It's just too bad that once the credits roll, the mystery of the loop remains and you're back to square one....would have been cool to get some answers there, but oh well it's more about the 20 hour journey than the destination as they say. Grab Deathloop when it's on sale if you're a fan of Prey, Dishonored, Bioshock, and Rogue-likes.    … Expand

    Exactly what you’d expect from Arkane. Great story, unmatched stealth gameplay, great voice acting, and incredible side content. If you own a PS5 this is a must play* *If you enjoy Arkane style games. If you despise the Dishonored games you will not enjoy this game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is truly overhyped. It’s a not a 10/10 game nor worth $60 to say the least. It has the perfect game pass, Playststion plus quality. It’s a great game with a lot of good features such as :
    voice acting is great The dialogue is funny and humorous The maps/areas are creatively made And the bosses have good dialogue. However the game lacks so many things to make a 10/10 game:
    The background story of the bosses isn’t explained well nor it’s interesting The boss fights are the same as any NPC fight The AI is pretty bad The hints, clues, and leads are misleading and don’t occur enough nor explain what needs to be done in which order
    The game can’t get pretty boring really fast. I get that it’s a loop and each day consists of finding clues, but it sometimes can get very very boring. The endings are so anticlimactic it’s sad. 7/10 at best    … Expand

    Bought the game on impulse and was pleasantly surprised. Mechanics felt fluid, really fun concept and great story. Only thing is certain slabs felt pretty game-breaking (Looking at you shift slab) and pretty much let you breeze through the game once you have it.

    Really enjoyed the game. Loved the maps and was obsessed with finding every little secret the game had to offer. Interesting story with good characters and a very solid gameplay. Only big negative I have to say that the AI can be really stupid sometimes.

    This game could 100% run on a PS4. There is no reason it needs to be only PS5. The loading times are still slow, and the graphics are fine. But, the style of the this game is great. I love the 60’s aesthetic in this game, but I wished it did anything to show that this was in the 60’s other than visuals. Gameplay

    If you’ve played an Arkane game, you’ve played part of this game. Dishonored with guns. Prey on Earth. Most of the powers are the exact. It kind of feels cheap at this point. Arkane needs to change up their style a bit. Oh wait they did for this game, by making it more linear. Less choices in how to deal with targets, explore the world, and get to the end. But don’t get me wrong, it’s still fun. This might be one of the most fun FPS I’ve played. It’s so fast and reactive you can’t help but smile when playing. There are plenty of ways to kill people, grenades, guns, kicks, but none of them feel innovative like Arkane’s other games. But overall, it’s good.

A lot of reviews said this game "Brings nothing new" or "Tries to be too many games at once." I personally had a great time with the game as a whole. I found the gameplay bends to your will, how YOU want to play. I found the gameplay bends to your will, how YOU want to play. I went with a more fast-paced game plan and the game gave me that. 90% of the time if I died it was my fault, so I could learn from my mistakes and soon could get past that part with no problems. I personally like the look of the game, the levels and the game does reward you for taking in the surroundings, with interesting dialog, some clues to possible loot, etc. For the most part, AI was fine, except for Julianna's offline, sometimes she just stood still or even got stuck on objects which kind of took away from the daunting feeling of getting hunted after the first 2 or 3 times as I knew she would just wander or stay still. The characters I find very enjoyable, especially the dialog between Colt and Julianna, were pretty clever and funny to me. The story I found quite engaging, I will not do spoilers or anything. There is really only 1 reason I don't give this a 9 or more. If you're like me and like to binge a game as soon as it comes out, I did feel it was a bit short. Finished in about 2-3 days. Also, the occasional glitch occurred with my game freezing when I paused once and I had to restart when I was deep into a mission. Apart from that I really enjoyed Deathloop, found it a really new and fresh experience, and it somewhat (Not totally) gave me some faith back in Bethesda after the TITANIC MELTDOWN that was Fallout 76.     Absolutely loved this game on PS5. It takes the best bits from Dishonoured without punishing you for breaking stealth. The combat is great and super satisfying, while stealth remains a useful and viable option (until all hell breaks loose). I made an account here to positively review this game as it does not deserve the hate.

    Me ha gustado muchisimo, parece un juego simple pero la forma de jugar y tener que buscar las pistas para ir consiguiendo la forma de poder matar a todos los jefes en un mismo dia esta muy interesante, para mi uno de los mejores juegos del 2021, aun asi es mi opinion.

I couldn't even finish it, I dragged myself through half the game thinking that something might happen to spike an interest. There is nothing interesting in the game.     Genuinely fun game with lots of ideas to test and some intricate exploring that brings Blackreef to life. The story at first feels massive and overwhelming but you soon find out that it is just a linear plot divided in sections. The online mode is kind of a joke since you will wait for about half an hour to play someone who can just quit in the middle of it.     Bought the game for 35 €, hyped by the reviews…3 hours into it and I am already bored. The idea of revisiting the same maps over and over again got me frustrated already!. Boring, repetitive and frustrating.

    Story: really interesting with lots to learn as you loop! Gameplay: fun, but it did drag towards the end and trying to achieve some things in the “right” way got me frustrated. I also tended to just be using the same load out towards the end, so weapons and power ups didn’t have great balance. Defo one to buy on    Graphics: colourful and interesting

    By far one of the clunkiest games to come out in the last 30 years. Ai is lazy, level design is claustrophobic, and movement within the game is disastrous getting you killed more often than not. I will not be buying another game made by Arkane after experiencing this poor excuse of an IP.

    Never played dishonoured so deathloop is fresh for me - never had so much fun in a game - not had any glitches/crashes so cant comment on that. Can't understand the 0 scores, maybe the game is too hard for some but deffo not a 0? would recommend this game to anyone,

    If you're going to make a game where progress and loot is lost when you die and provide no save system, then you better make damn sure the gameplay is engaging, the story grips and the characters are likeable. NONE of this is the case here.

    I havent finished it yet, it gets kinda hard at the end even with all the upgraded weapons. I like the visuals, gameplay, and characters. It's fun and immersive, just a bit repetitive, especially frustrating when you die. It's a slog to finish, but I'm enjoying it.

    I really love this game. If you liked Dishonored I feel you'll love this aswell.

    Slightly held back because I feel there's a lack of options towards the endgame and the buildup is very slow. Takes a lot of hours to get into it and the game spoonfeeds you a lot of stuff.

    Still a great game.

    I really enjoyed this game a lot! The story is ok, and the NPC's can be kind of dumb. However the gameplay mechanics and "loop" brings so much. Perhaps not the very best from Bethesda Softworks, but a great experience nonetheless

    Solid, SOLID game. Super fun and intriguing plot. Art direction and presentation are goated. The only gripe I have is that multiplayer is the default when I just wanna engage with the single-player experience. I'm glad the option was available to shut off the invading aspects. It's a cool concept, but not for me.

    This is seriously a must-play

    A very mediocre game and Arkane's laziest work in my opinion (and I love Dishonored). Very boring, repetitive, and forgettable. I do not recommend playing this one at all.

    I faced a few times with menu hanging bugs and crashes, this is not what I expected from the game which was released about 1.5 years ago.

    The well known menu bug still exists even after the last patch. This bug makes the game unplayable, because you have to restart the game when it occurs and because there are no saves within a day you will lose all your progress on that day. If you‘re unlucky, several hours of effort are gone. It occured to me twice within 4 hours of total playtime. 4 Hours of wasted life.

    I think the concept is cool but it's gets pretty old pretty fast and I feel in a genre as oversaturated as the FPS genre you have to do something unique in your gameplay and this just comes off as generic. I do like the main character and the way his story is presented.

    This game lts no a shooter. Is a rouguelike with to bad in mechanics. There only 4 scenarios not pretty good and tiny. I know the game it's about a Bucle that you had to stop it, but it's annoying earing one and one again the same dialogs and killing the same bosses too repetitive. Grafics looks good with one or two bugs and the story is fine but this condition the game mechanics.

    Deathloop offers well-designed stealth levels under the core gameplay of Roguelike. At the same time, the variety of weapons and special powers also support the exciting combat. Julianna's "invasion" adds the uncertainty of the game, but may also spoil the player's experience.

    I’m honestly surprised, because I did not expect to have so much fun with Deathloop. It draws some gameplay ideas from Dishonored, but introduces time-related mechanics, offers an intriguing story with interesting characters and has its own unique and coherent style. It’s an original game, full of surprises and addictive, but not necessarily easily digestible for everyone. For me however it’s one of the best titles of 2021. [11/2021, p.22]
