Jun 25, 2023The concept and execution of the gameplay loop are solid, resulting in a fun multiplayer game based around Crash platforming mechanics, but I fear the game will very quickly be in a desperate need for additional content to sustain player interest. That starting price feels like too much, and this game will live or die on the size of its initial player base.

Aug 5, 2023Fun to play but it lacks a lot of content, which makes it repetitive after a couple of hours.

PLAYSep 17, 2023A competitive version of Crash Bandicoot’s platform template is a great idea and realised with style, but it really is just the same activity on repeat, for now. [Issue#30, p.89]

Aug 24, 2023Crash Team Rumble is an experiment with the Crash Bandicoot brand that went very well. No match is the same as the last, and there is a prevailing sense of fun. Not to mention, there are plenty of incentives to keep you playing. However, as a fully multiplayer title, only time will tell if it will last or be forgotten.

Aug 4, 2023Crash Team Rumble feels a bigger-than-average swing for the series, but one that — at this point — ultimately misses. That said, there are updates on the horizon, but I’m worried that it won’t be able to break away from more unbalanced characters and a general lack of content. Maybe Crash Team Rumble will end up like Fall Guys or Rocket League and go free-to-play at some point, but as it stands I’d have to recommend waiting for the game to bulk up a little before diving in.
