again a developer that cannot do simple things right. It is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to select a single unit and give orders. It is terribly annoying to then see other units move as well and undo the choices and orders you made before. Especially in the heat of battle it frustrates to see units die since they act upon orders given to other units. This has nothing to do with the controller, other devs have been making proper rts on consoles for well over a decade.
So saving often is important, were it not that saving takes so rediculously long, at least twice as long as loading. Also, the game is unstable, crashes regularly, countdowns for missions do not appear, or the UI disappears entirely. Usually this means you have to restart the ENTIRE mission (as reloading a previous savegame ends up having the same problem).
Then there is the save problem. The game often doesn't allow you to save/delete a game or crashes.
Also, why the hell does it keep pushing Playstation Plus on me every time I go into the main menu? I decide whether I take Playstation Plus on not. Screw this pushing behavior from a dev that cannot even make a decent game. For the sake of never having to deal with such crap again, I can only hope this dev will go bankrupt.
    Avoid this!

In this state I don’t recommand to go for it… especially if you intend to play it on controller.

Many essential features are not present on controller right now, especially if you wanna go multiplayer : - no queue for orders (without tactical pause) - no shorcuts for units or groups - some buttons do not work has intended If you play against someone with mouse and keyboard, he will have

The game still has huge bugs (PS5): If you load a manual save from the middle of a battle, that mission is almost guaranteed to have a gamebreaking bug in it. I have on multiple occasions, had the game freeze after a mission, making me replay it.
I have also had a bunch of small bugs and errors. Nothing super serious, but still realy annoying.

You can skip (auto resolve) most of the combat missions, but you will do much better if you play them manually. The problem is that they quickly become repetitive and boring, set in the same maps, fighting the same enemies, doing the same objectives over and over.

The big main missions a fun, unless the game makes you replay them due to a bug. I do like the core gameplay, and the tactical aspect of using different unit types to counter the enemy. It has hints of a Rock-Paper-Scissors system, until you get tanks, then it’s just about who has more tanks.

COH3 plays out not with a bang, nor a whimper, but with an indifferent shrug. There’s very little spark for something with so many explosions. [Issue#29, p.88]

Company of Heroes 3: Console Edition brings the glory of the real-time strategy genre to the consoles in a spectacular way. Featuring two different campaigns and a freshened-up design, it will give you hours of good fun sitting in front of your big screen.

Playing Company of Heroes 3 on PS5 means accepting to play either a poorly optimized PS4 game (resolution mode) or a fat PS4 game at the end of its life (performance mode). Yes, technically, it's a real wreck. It's naughty or simply awful depending on the mode chosen. That being said, the game is still very playable and ultimately well optimized for the controller. We simply regret the lack of precision and responsiveness in the absence of a shortcut. But the work of the developers is there. The interface has been partially revised and it's pretty well done. It's up to you now if you're ready to sacrifice the visual aspect in the name of the altar of the strategy game, a genre underrepresented on home consoles. For the rest, Company of Heroes 3 remains the same game as on PC. An honest, but naughty strategy game.
