    The unlock system is a complete desaster. You have to play a bunch of random guns you don't like to unlock everything for a weapon you actually want to use. And now with season 1 one of the guns they added is only unlockable by playing a warzone mode you have to install separately. **** ****

    MP is completely ruined by EOMM which is designed to just make you feel miserable most of the time. Netcode is absolutely atrocious. There's always severe desync between clients.

    The UI is still horrible to use and has too many glitches to count.

    In a match whole swathes of level geometry just vanish for seconds at a time. Sometimes you can't use killstreaks anymore starting in the middle of a match.

    IW has done almost nothing to fix all those issues, it's gonna take a year until it's playable from a pure technical standpoint.

    TLDR: Horrible hitreg, netcode delay, flashbang, short TTK, long ADS time, long sprint out, riot shields, cluster mines, ledge hangs, bugged damage, bugged aim assist, awful unlock system, new weapons locked in different games, **** bugged UI.     Where do I start, this is possibly one of the worst COD games to release in some time. I never understood when they thought it was a good idea to make cod games more realistic, as that has never been their selling point. It has always been an arcade shooter, meant to be user-friendly, but is quite literally the opposite. People complained ghost was too powerful, how do they nerf it? make a horribly designed system that allows you to get your "ultimate" perk pretty much halfway through the match. They had a system that worked before, it was called pick ten. If a perk was good, it would take up two slots, sometimes three meaning, you'd have fewer options to choose from i.e maybe you couldn't care about a lethal or a tactical. there are hundreds of different attatchments to choose from. of those hundreds, 95% of utterly usless. Also, why should I unlock an smg, to get an attacthment for an ar? there is no correlation between those weapons. I could understand battle rifles and ar's, marksman rifles and snipers sure, but that is stupid. Not to mention to unlock certain attatchments you also need to level a pistol. Makes 0 sense. Not. One. Good. Map. Not to mention only 9 on release, now there's 11 yay, oh wait their old maps that have already been in the game and somehow, they made them worse due to how **** their spawn system works. The sun on some maps, is blinding to the point you can't see three feet in front of you. Let me not get started on all the bugs that happen, the crashing that is still occuring from time to time, random lag spikes, and frame drops. How does a multimillion dollar game company screw up time and time again? Epic games with fortnite was able to come out of pretty much no where, and make the most popular game for almost 5 years straight. The devs do not listen to the community, it is evident. If they did, the games would be fun to play. only reason this gets a 4/10 is because the campaign was fantastic. That is it though. No other redeeming quality about this game.… Expand

    Old maps, all the random buffing of players and god awfull hit detection with random damage. Nothing new but a really bad UI. Maps are boring and this game turned into a pointles grind in under 2 weeks. I really wanted to enjoy this game but its either sweaty lobbies with artificial lag or a room full of campers, or all the listed above together.     Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is one of the most fun first-person shooter games of this decade. I can not stop playing it at all of how addictive and fun it is.

    The spawning points are horrible, the upgrade system is even worse. Why do I have to use weapons that I don't want to in order to unlock equipment and weapons I do want to? Anyway. There's no way I would have bought this game. It just came free with one of my friends ps5 purchases bundle. The gunplay is good. Just a lot of bad decisions to go along with it.

    Graphics and the campaign are the only positives here. Multi player is unbalanced. Spawning is better than in 2019 but, it not saying much.

    Greedy Activision... I bought the LA Skin because it looked nice... Now it's been nerfed and it looks like a clown costume. I feel cheated of my money. To date they haven't managed to fix the quest bar for the daylies or the number of tokens for the season pass. You can nerf a skin in one day. Shame on you!

    Horrible. Never said this about a COD game before but here we are. Can't even progress through the campaign because of a glitch. And the offline multiplayer (I'm an offline gamer) is the worst. THE worst. You cannot even customize loadouts. There are a few loadouts you can choose from and thats it. For online? Of course you can already buy lots of skins. Don't buy the game.

They released an unfinished game…menus glitchy, laggy lobbies (all my other games play smooth), and just some of the worst gunfight logic I have ever seen in my life. I highly recommend that YOU DO NOT buy this game, as I think the game is worth $20 with the amount of work putI can honestly say that after growing up with multiple COD games, this one takes the cake for being the worst. The map layouts are messy and poorly layed out leaving you running into a sniper spot that overlooks 50-90%of the map completely cutting out any level of competitiveness, and speaking of, SBMM has completely erased the variety of matches, leaving you in a loop of getting steam rolled until your average KD lowers to the point to where you have a decent Mach then right back to the sweat box for what seems like a solid 72 hours. If you fee you might want this, just wait another 6months when the game maybe might work a little better and maybe just maybe activision decides to actually balance their $70 dollar “TRIPPLE A” title… Expand

Glitchy multiplayer, pathetic campaign that has ridiculous silly things it asks of you like crafting shivs on a assault on a tower block full of terrorists with launch controls for a scud missile? Really? 3 spec ops missions that are coop that replace zombies or a horde survival mode. It's.crap.

    So no one like how Infinity Ward has done the Perks and turned some Perks into "field upgrades" I'm sorry but it's was a bad idea.
    With that the multiplayer is almost unplayable.
    No joke I gave it a month and when I was sick of it I deleted it.

    This game slows down the ADHD movement and makes a much more grounded game. People are upset the game is launching in pieces. The campaign was perfect, and the multiplayer feels solid and punchy. I also found that the new warzone looks and feels just as good. The game does have a few issues on older consoles, but PS5, Xbox Series S, and PC feel great.     The game is a lot of fun. I’ve had some really crazy experiences on DMZ. I was a little upset that it wasn’t like Tarkov but it’s good mode it it’s own right. I like pretty much everything they’ve done from the dead silence as a timed perk to no red dots. To no slide cancelling.

    First of all let's start with campaign. It's surpisingly good and realistic. After the season 1 patch where a lot more content was added I think I can finally conclude all the goods and wrongs of this year's CoD.

    First of all let's start with campaign. It's surpisingly good and realistic. It's a mature story with likeable characters that isn't afraid to pull punches but also doesn't exaggerate when it comes to violence. I really liked it. I don't think it beats the "rule of cool" of the original MW2 but there will certainly be people who enjoy it way more for it's toned down approach.

    The Spec Ops. At first I felt they were fine but it has quite a few problems, The scenarios you're being put in are kind of the extension or you could say an addition to campaign. They are semi-open world missions where you are given several objectives and to finish the mission you have to complete them and extract.
    They are still trying to force class setups which is fine I suppose but I didn't really feel like they changed much. They are a lot more scripted and are just better version of MW19 SpecOps.
    On first playthrough they're fun but they get mostly boring on repeat. Not bad but I'd prefer if they went back and tried to recreate original MW2s SpecOps.

    Multiplayer introduced semi-new gunsmith and perk system but other than that it's the old same formula.
    First of all the maps. They're ok. There are good ones and bad ones. It's a bit of a mix. Most of them are better than the ones in MW19.
    There's quite a few weapons. I also quite like the approach with balance smiliar to original MW2's logic which is "if everything is OP then nothing is". Sure there are better and worse guns but for the most part I think the game is doing a good job in balance department.
    The new gunsmith is kind of pointless. I won't get into details but basically it complicates the progression and people are mixed on it. I think it's a change for the sake of change but it didn't impact me negatively nor very positively so for me it's whatever.
    I actually quite like the new perk system where you get your perks over the duration of the match. Yes it does take away some of the value you'd normally have from it but it allows you to pick 4 not 3 perks and it rewards you with them faster if you get kills which is nice.
    The pace of the game slowed down as now you can't really keep your speed momentum as you could in MW19 with jumping around corners and slide canceling. Instead now to escape you're allowed to dolphin dive which can surprisingly often save you if you're losing a gunfight. I like it. It's a fun mechanic that returns after almost 10 years from BO2.

    The anticipated DMZ is a lot more dissapointing than I expected. A lot of it is just either fighting AI till you're dry or just driving a vehicle. I really discourage people from playing it. I like extraction games but this one just isn't balanced well. At least yet.
    The game doesn't know what difficulty it should put you on so it just starts spamming bots that aren't a big threat but in large groups can be dangerous. And because of that you're often forced to switch your loadout or pray to God for some ammo drop. I wouldn't recommend playing it without a coordinated team as you have to prepare for a lot of different situations and randoms just can't grant you that.
    It also a shame that they forced lock a weapon behind this mode without any other way of earning it.

    Last one thing is the battlepass. The new battlepass kind of improves how you earn the rewards. The rewards are spread throughout multiple "tiers" let's call them and those tiers are tied to other tiers. In those tiers there are 5 rewards. 4 are insignificant but one is the good one that most people want. After that other tiers unlock and you're allowed to progress different tiers.
    You progress them thorugh points you earn by playing or buying them. It's a weird system and again it seems complicated for no reason because they could've just let you pick rewards you want and after that you'd gone after the ones you want less. It's a change for the sake of change.

    Overall MW2 2022 has it's fair share of positives but a lot of it seems overshadowed by it's shortcomings and shallow changes that really don't intend on changing much. I wish it was more of a spiritual successor to original MW2 but it really isn't a bad game. I just wish the whole package was more consistent rather than being good in certain parts and bad in others.    … Expand

    I’ve never been one for call of duty stories, but this one is definitely a step above the rest. not groundbreaking, but good. The multiplayer, however, is better than ever with the inclusion of casual skill-based matchmaking, making it easier than ever to not be as overwhelmed by players better than you. overall, one of the best call of duty games in years

    You won't get a better multiplayer game than COD MW2. Most PS5 games I buy and play for maybe an hour max. I've already put in 30+ hours into MW2. Great cost per play time from this game.

    SBMM in Ranked is fine. Because, thats LITERALLY what ranked is. but whats the point of adding a ranked mode if CASUAL IS RANKED?

    Solution: Casual and Ranked mode exists, casual should be CASUAL and have no sbmm and ranked should be ranked, because ranked. is. literally. sbmm. Skill based matchmaking IS RANKED.

The really bad is the dang User Interface quite literally scrolling through the menu like I am scrolling through the menu on Hulu, second is the weapons progression which is a double edge blade as its good but a huge grind fest but it also feels as though attachments makes some of the gun worse than when you run without them, third is the perk system you get 2 base perks and then a level 2 perk unlocks after a certain time and a level 3 perk after even a longer amount of time so when you build a loadout you have to wait for the perk to activate to make gameplay more fun in which it doesn't feel like your class because you can't be fully geared and can counter a specific build until a certain amount of time has passed in which makes the game slower or more frustrating than it has to be.… Expand

Visually speaking, Modern Warfare 2's campaign is strong, albeit a little underwhelming in some instances. The variety of locations and lighting is the big standout and makes it feel like you're covering new territory most of the time. That said, the story is just good enough to be mildlyCall of Duty remains consistent as a baseline shooter with above-average controls and gameplay. Visually speaking, Modern Warfare 2's campaign is strong, albeit a little underwhelming in some instances. The variety of locations and lighting is the big standout and makes it feel like you're covering new territory most of the time. That said, the story is just good enough to be mildly enjoyed but not a standout for shooters. Speaking of visuals, the multiplayer barely looks like an upgrade from the previous Modern Warfare entry. 120 Hz refresh rate is nice but I think we've hit that point where the refresh rate push needs to slow down - there's not enough return to warrant a constant emphasis on pushing that boundary. The eye can only see so many frames per second and refreshing the image beyond 60 times per second rapidly loses value. The tradeoff comes with the detail of the game and what you're encountering, whether in the campaign or in a multiplayer match. Granted, it's not like you're constantly checking out the environment when engaged in a firefight but you still like to have the immersion when you enter a game of this caliber.

    Speaking more toward the gameplay and its variety - it's COD as usual. The baseline matchmaking content is there as it has been for decades. That stuff is fine - I'm getting close to being over normal matchmaking games though so while I do spend most of my time in this part of the game it's mostly because my friends are there - not because I feel it's the best experience. What is the best experience? In my opinion, it's in the other gameplay modes. There's a 3rd person combat experience (what a shakeup!) and a Battlefield-esque Ground War - no longer just a slightly larger standard map but rather a larger-scale experience with unique environments where you have a lot more room to move and quadruple the player count - quite a shift in dynamics and options. This is where I think Call of Duty has its most potential to grow. Vehicle play is pretty good, usually tight, but there's not a lot of emphasis on airborne combat - that's mostly left to killstreaks/scorestreaks while you scramble on the ground by foot or by tank/hummer.

    Modern Warfare 2 is welcome simply because shooters are in a tough space. Halo fell apart within a few months of launching, Bethesda's Starfield got delayed, leaving you to play mostly Apex, Warzone 1.0, Destiny for the most polished shooter experiences. Speaking of Warzone, Warzone 2.0 launches a couple weeks after launch. As of this review it hasn't launched but I do look forward to mixing up the COD experience again with a revamped Warzone experience. My biggest complaint against Warzone 1.0 was its sluggish performance, limited framerate, sometimes janky controls. If 2.0 plays just like typical matchmaking I will be impressed and will find more enjoyment out of that kind of step forward. But that's technically not MW2 - that's a separate aspect of COD and just so happens to be releasing near MW2.

    Modern Warfare 2 is pretty good it just doesn't standout well above the competition. It's greatest strength, if we're being honest, is it launched more polished than Battlefield 2042 and is likely set to receive consistent content updates and Battle Pass content every couple months. If you were waiting for Call of Duty to take a giant leap forward, I think it's safe to say that you are still waiting and it's likely that COD won't reshape its formula ever. Expect the studios relating to COD to have to release an entirely new IP that is much different, stands alone from COD. I actually expect that but that's a different conversation.    … Expand

    - Matchmaking is barely functional. It sometimes just outright breaks if you are in a party, and need to break the party to fix it. Cross-play is absolute garbage. No option to not play with console kiddies. To try and "balance" (and I mean completely break the game) the devs thought cranking up Aim Assist for console players was the appropriate option. No clue why considering the Aim Assist is no better than soft aim bots, where console players literally don't have to aim. The game does it for them.

    - The customization. Look, I get it customization is nice and all but this is too much. The progression system for weapons and attachments is completely unintuitive and frankly just stupid. It's overly complicated for no good reason. Why are you forcing people to use completely unrelated guns to unlock a different gun. It just makes no sense.

    - The multiplayer maps are awful. They are pretty to look at, but that's it. They are not well designed and the real deal breaker is the horrific spawns. I cannot count the number of times I've spawned facing an enemy or spawned with any enemy facing me (or vice versa). That's just poor game design. No one should spawn into the game with someone already shooting them from behind. Another thing that clearly no one had enough of a brain at Activision-Blizzard to consider.

    - The price. $70 is a steep ask for a game that is quite frankly barely functional. It's embarrassing. There's such a lack of polish on everything but VA and graphics (and there are still graphical bugs pretty consistently). I know Activision Blizzard doesn't believe in paying for QA, but maybe next time they should invest a little money it in, because they served us up a steaming pile of garbage that should have been delayed based on how it plays right now.    … Expand

    Skill Based Match Making has destroyed the online experience. The core build of the game is great, however, due to the blatant and obnoxious SBMM I have had ZERO enjoyment playing this game. And since Activision is too greedy to address this, the game will offer you nothing more than increasing your blood pressure.     Let's review the "Call of Duty" Checklist:
    Evil, over-the-top Russian? Check.

    Is there a Multiplayer with 12 yo dominating the chat and screaming in your ear if you forget to mute all? Ouch.

    Are there Kill Streak Rewards for bumping the already strong players and punishing their cannon fodder? Double Check.

    Is the single player riddled with the same "run to point X and the enemy respawns will stop" trigger type maps? Oh yes!

    Is there a level where you have to jump from car to car, while driving a car yourself, shooting out enemies and obstacles while driving and then jumping out of the car before it explodes to hijack another car driving at full speed - a level which is so painstakingly maddening that its designers should be bumped down to replay it for all enternity to see how dumb that design is? You betcha!

    Well, ladies and gentleman, you have yourself a COD!

    Usually, sequels are set up by the previous titles. But in MW II, the story is being set up in a prologue. 10 years ago we killed a baddie, so the antagonist wants to take a revenge. Too bad Al-Asad was left out for lousy MW I spec ops. And Zakhaev was killed in a Warzone cutscene. The new villain, Hassan, is not interesting.

    I’d much appreciate Farah’s brother who became a terrorist. That would be a great material for a misunderstood villain. All we know is that he was captured by CIA and that’s it lol. By the way, I cringed so hard when they let Hassan go.

    I understand that the sequel didn’t want to continue the “occupation war” theme. So instead, they went with a corruption theme. Modern warfare is just about corrupt cops and army, so we fight cartel. This felt more like Battlefield Hardline as I had to chase a freaking mexican gang. I liked the first part for its “spec ops: the line” vibes. While replaying, Farah’s mission has deeply resonated with me because of the Russian war against Ukraine. The new game doesn’t care about that anymore.

    I’ve also noticed that the game was trying to jump into different genres. There was a car chase mission that borrowed a lot from Uncharted. And then 1.5 missions with crafting features out of nowhere. That was odd! But when the series become repetitive, I suppose it’s no wonder the devs want to try something else.

    And what’s up with the ghost team? The ads seemed like we’d see ghost team in more action. And Farah was supposed to be a part of it! What we got was a 1-time mission for the ghost team. Somehow, at the end of that mission, no one wore the ghost masks anymore. That was very raw.

    Overall, I feel disappointed. I know that I shouldn’t bother because it’s just a COD 2K22. But the “modern warfare” games captured the best of my teenage years. That’s why I wanted the reboot to be just as good. I am a MW2 (2009) sucker!    … Expand

    Dreadful. Such a disappointment. All that hype for a half baked game. The campaign is lackluster, the multiplayer adds nothing new and it's expensive. It's just bad.

    This game is seriously overrated by people. More 007 game play and less bravo 6 going dark in the campaign which isn't too bad but that's only a few hours and the real rating comes from the multi-player. Guns are so not balanced and unlocking weapons is a hustle . They just want sell their **** bundles and became like fifa pay to win. The servers are also extremely bad as well as sbmm.This game is seriously overrated by people.     Terrible game. I don't know how they screwed up so much after a good game like Coldwar. They broke the game for console players to play. Weapons are out of balance. Maps are crap. The controller OFFICIALLY has AIMHACK and PC players have to play with console players with aim assist like AIMHACK, but console players can turn this option off whenever they want.     It’s good, but not amazing yet. The gunsmith is a little confusing but not the end of the world. You can’t sprint around as much as previous titles, it’s more tactical. It’s not as fun for some reason. Hopefully when the season starts it will sort itself out.

    Let's be honest, there's really no bigger title to compete in the FPS genre at the moment, both in terms of the sometimes mediocre content and this year's very polished graphics. [Issue#324]

    A somewhat droll campaign will greet players of Modern Warfare II. It's a short bombastic romp with some fun gunplay moments and fantastic graphics. The multiplayer, however, is a miss as it is no longer a properly combined entity and the lack of replayability is disappointing. A recommendation for CoD fans but for anyone even slightly on the fence perhaps keep shopping or waiting for a sale.

    CoD MW 2 is a refreshing single-player experience, providing players with some of the best action-packed moments and great characters, but riddled with multiplayer balancing issues and extreme performance and technical problems. It still is CoD and is fun for anyone who finds its casual shooting gameplay compelling, but it plays safely and doesn’t present itself as something revolutionary for the franchise.
