    For me so far it's the worst battlefield, only bugs, weapons not at all balanced ! Specialists completely ruin team play, we had to leave the class system that there was in the old battlefields.

    It shows that Dice did not have time to finish the game and all because of who? EA! Always more money at the expense of the quality of the games, it's just a shame!     So I wasted $20 on this game (and returned it) a few months ago, but when it was available for PS+ I decided to give it another try. This latest update has put it in a passable state and it is much better now.

    Nopats (non patriated forces) were supposed to make this game essentially a PMC warzone, with the inclusion of "hero-shooter mechanics" a la Overwatch, but was pigeonholed into factions of US v RU which is the antithesis of the entire game. This design choice was done deliberately to sell battlepasses and cosmetics, and it did not work.

    Lastly, Battlefield 2042 should have launched in a finished state, not early access. And that is a trend that will continue if you support EA and DICE in the future. This franchise is irreparably damaged and should be avoided.    … Expand

    - Bad level design, in this part the Dice took the name of the series "battlefield" too literally, otherwise it's impossible to explain why the maps are almost entirely composed of huge fields, it's just boring;
    - Poor HUD;
    - Lack of Kills / Deaths statistics; - Lack of a normal arsenal of weapons; - Terrible balance (Sniper rifle destroys a tank with 3 shots, but RPG cannot do this    - Bad level design, in this part the Dice took the name of the series "battlefield" too literally, otherwise it's impossible to explain why the maps are almost entirely composed of huge fields, it's just boring;

    - Lack of Kills / Deaths statistics;
    - Lack of a normal arsenal of weapons;

    - Problems with netcode, a classic for the series on release;
    - The presence of operatives and, as a consequence, the lack of a military atmosphere (It is impossible to feel the atmosphere of war when the same people are fighting on both sides);
    - Horrible sounds of shots;

    Portal perfectly modernizes the old parts of the series, BUT there are very few maps, and the HUD is still crap.
    In an attempt to return the sandbox and fan service so beloved to the players in the battlefield 3 & 4, Dice screw up at every point and thereby prove that the studio that made bf 3&4 has long been dead.

    Making changes nobody asked for, removing mechanics that made BF BF, adding specialists in order to make money because nobody cared about your useless skins in BFV, removing story mode because you’re lazy, using the pandemic as an excuse for an unfinished game. Hold on, I got more. Only having 7 maps on release & more than half of those maps are made for running simulator games, with noMaking changes nobody asked for, removing mechanics that made BF BF, adding specialists in order to make money because nobody cared about your useless skins in BFV, removing story mode because you’re lazy, using the pandemic as an excuse for an unfinished game. Hold on, I got more. Only having 7 maps on release & more than half of those maps are made for running simulator games, with no buildings to take cover behind. Everyone uses the same 3 specialists because they are the only “good” ones, there are Only 4 AR’s & 4 SMG’s lol what is this? a free to play game? everyone was using the same gun on release. Only 3 Secondaries, SMGs winning long range gun fights against ARs. Broken hit detection yet again, for like the 4th Battlefield game release in a row, it’s like Dice doesn’t care to learn from the mistakes. This is exactly what this game deserves & you have no one else to blame but yourself. Trying to turn this franchise into a Call Of Duty copy just to make your pockets happy & look where it got them. Lowest rating everywhere, lowest player-count after release of any BF game, nobody cares to watch it on Twitch & people who are forced to play it because they are sponsored by EA seem miserable. Portal is a shell of what it was advertised to be, Hazard Zone is hilariously bad. I am thankful for one thing tho & thats for helping me realize that pre-ordering a Battlefield game from now on is a huge mistake.     The worst battlefield ever created. What happened, they had 3 years to make a game, and they come up with this lazy half finished dumpster fire of a game? Two game modes? Large maps, that all look the same, and a handful of weapons, a few attachments, and that is it? Not to mention the specialists... And they made all this fuss about the portal, it would have been better without it, it'sThe worst battlefield ever created.     With a lot of the core battlefield mechanics lacking from my gameplay experience over the weekend. I have to give this a 4. I think visually the game is stunning, looks amazing. But the overall battlefield experience is just not there. Feels a lot more like a arcade shooter then a battlefield game.

    - the game is missing fundamental features and mechanics from previous games. Game modes, movement    I'm not going to poop on the game in rage but I will state the obvious and what's true about this game (I bought gold PS5 edition so I'm a victim of false advertising and I feel betrayed). I tell myself it will be better but I'm afraid it won't so here's my honest list, no bullsh*t:

    - the game is missing fundamental features and mechanics from previous games. Game modes, movement mechanics, in-game voice chat, destruction of buildings is almost nonexistent.
    - there are elements missing as simple as scoreboard or player profile with KDA and other stats
    - the game has little to offer, only few maps, few weapons
    - you can't manage your squad at all, you're paired with randoms and can't swap squads mid game
    - the game is largely unbalanced with SMGs shredding at any range, ARs being useless, and hovercrafts being invincible both offensively and defensively
    - spawn logic is about as smart as COD's.. So stupid
    - UI is confusing, unnecessarily difficult to operate, not intuitive compared to other BF games
    - the game is packed with cutscenes that force things on you - at the start of the game you autospawn at the base instead of having the option to wait to spawn on your buddy/vehicle
    - the number of transport vehicles is so small that it leaves 80% of the team sprinting 200-300m to the first flag.
    There are many bugs but most of games have them so that will be ironed out over time. Whether they can implement everything that was barbarically shallowed compared to other games ? I doubt it. It is a slap to player's face from EA/DICE for releasing clearly downgraded product (both content and feature wise) and false advertising by showing gameplay spinets which didn't represent the actual state of the game.

    I've been playing since 12th of November early access and I probably will continue to play because game can be fun at times but I can't recommend buying it to anyone.

    To summarize, Battlefield 2042 currently is: SIMPLIFIED, FLATTENED, UNFINISHED, DISRESPECTFUL.

Matchmaking after every round, no chat, no scoreboard, lack of guns, large maps that serve no purpose (other than making you run 300+ meters to get to the objective), etc., all suck. Since they didn't have to develop a single player campaign, one would think the multiplayer gameplay would be incredible - it is not. Get yourBF2042 can be a good game if Dice listens to the community.     8- it seems like they have forgotten the hill battlefield was but rather code up and design this wierd

    1- the vibration in the ps5 controller is cool. u can feel it good when u walk and shoot.
    2 the tornado i would say is a cool design.
    3- the graphics is kinda good i guess but i still feel like battlefield 1 and 5 have better effects idk why.

    Some of the mechanics of the games are broken. Glitches and unreliable servers completely mess up the game. Game modes are really fun and weapon system, i wish they were more options but having the option to switch it up whenever you like is a big plus for me.

    This game is not even an Alpha version. So boring, frustrating and repetitive.. useless specialists, walking 5 mins to encounter the first enemy, so many bugs. I was so hyped by trailers for this game l, but the final result disappointed me so so much.

Obviously, being a BF fan for so many years, I went against my better judgement. As a gamer, I dont like to wait too long to play something I absolutely love, and so I am part of the problem by buying a game that is mediocre in its time at launch, giving developers no real responsibility in keeping up in shipping poor quality games at release. Will it get better, of course, but how much time will they keep investing into this game to fix it, remains to be seen. We all see how BF5 went. Attachments are not a fun grind to go for. Camos are okay, in fact I dont mind them. But attachments that are miss represented by their descriptions and tedious grinds to progress? yuck
    I dont care if there are 10 different assault rifles and most people only use one of them the joy is in the progression and unlocking something and hey, some days you might want to use something else and not just the "meta"
    Maps are fine but the lack of gamemodes is pathetic. No tdm even? or rush?

    To those who say "just play portal" use a pathetic cop out of an excuse to hide the fact the base game which is what we mostly pay for not a gimmick side mode is extremely lacking and I haven't even touched on the bugs...

    The UI is horrendous just watch a video. Changing specialist and guns should be easy but it just has unnecessary hoops to go through.

I used to praise BF for its state of the art sound design, but it seems they have left that behind as massive tanks and other vehicles can drive 10 feet from you and you won't hear a thing until its too late. The weapons feel weak and insignificant, plus it is soBy far the worst BF game in recent memory. Very little weapons, poor map design, bad vehicle mechanics, and buggy beyond belief. I used to praise BF for its state of the art sound design, but it seems they have left that behind as massive tanks and other vehicles can drive 10 feet from you and you won't hear a thing until its too late. The weapons feel weak and insignificant, plus it is so buggy you can shoot someone with 15+ rounds before they start to register. Armor needs removed as well as it is not innovation, it is a gimmick that ruins core gameplay. Rocket launchers do not harm players like they should, C5 feels incredibly weak, there is no penalty to aim when jump and slide shooting. It's like this game is BF in name only. It truly wants to be something that caters to a different player base. One that is not tactical and requires very little thinking, and I hate it. I'm not mad, just disappointed at how bad this game is after being so hyped up. I have been a BF player for 16 years, and I have never been so let down like I am with this game. Also where are the score boards and voice chat? Why are the most basic features gone? What is happening to this company and why are people giving them a free pass?     Cons

    1. 128 players is completely unnecessary and doesn’t add anything to the game. With 64 players, I have always been genuinely affect the outcome of the game, but with 128 I am just a tadpole in a pond. Just like with the tornadoes, this was obviously added solely for marketing “WOW 128 PLAYERS!”
    2. Dice has traded Battlefield’s iconic destruction for this new player count and it was totally not worth it. Destruction as we have always known it in Battlefield is just non-existent. Who thought this was a good idea? It’s even there in Portal - from games over 10 years old! Destruction is one thing which creates those Battlefield moments!
    3. Specialists. *Sigh* I cannot describe just how much I hate Specialists in BF2042. This is NOT what battlefield is! I don’t want a f*cking hero shooter in my Battlefield game! Those voice likes at the end of each round are by far the most tone-deaf, ridiculous part to the entire game. I don’t f*cking care if you want to sell voice lines or stupid skins to kids at some point - THIS NONSENSE DOES NOT BELONG IN A BATTLEFIELD GAME! It’s not too late - just give us an option to play as grunts and this issue is mostly resolved.
    4. Weapon progression sucks. Your first weapon camo is unlocked after 30 kills and then the next one after 1,000. Then there is barely any difference between scopes (PS if you have to add the plus system to accommodate for such a vast array of ranges, don’t you think that your maps are a bit too big?)
    5. There isn’t enough content. 7 maps and 22 guns for only 2 MODES is shambolic for a Battlefield game.
    6. The map rotation is terrible. Because there is no persistent servers, you can end up playing one or two maps over and over again.
    7. The base game maps are poorly designed. They just aren’t fun to play - the only one I look forward to is breakaway. The others I either dislike or am indifferent to. I either spawn in and get killed immediately, or I run halfway across the map for 5 minutes and get killed immediately as soon as I reach the objective. This won’t be because I lost a firefight - it’ll either be a sniper far in the distance, or a heli will swoop down and annihilate me.
    8. Balance between vehicles and infantry is awful. Vehicles absolutely dominate every single map and it’s almost impossible to destroy a vehicle without a full squad completely dedicated to taking it out.
    9. The UI across the whole game is utterly abysmal. From the options menu to the in game hud to the weapon / class selection. It’s unintuitive and incredibly confusing.
    10. The amount of missing essential features is baffling; scoreboard, progression stats/battle log, no persistent lobbies, no class system, no diving while swimming, no naval vehicles, can’t spawn in passenger seat at round start, no additional points (headshots, assist, vehicle damage, squad wipe, multi kill etc), no squad points call ins for squad leader, no infantry-only maps. The actual list of missing features is actually about 20x longer than this - these are just the most annoying ones.

    Conclusion

    I heard that Specialists are a stepping stone for EA to turn BF into a hero shooter. For the love of god - if you want to do this then just MAKE A NEW IP! Don’t ruin a beloved franchise that millions of people have loved for decades!

    Whoever has been in charge of the direction of Battlefield during the development of BF2042 clearly doesn’t even understand what the game is. They have no respect for its history or the core fan base who have made the franchise what it is today.

    This game is an insult. Conceptualised and executed by people who have no idea what Battlefield is, and who want to turn it into a god damned hero shooter. This is the last straw. Dice / EA - fix this game and don’t you dare give us a full blown Battlefield hero shooter or I’m out.    … Expand

    tested 10 hours of the full game.. the game is lacking, unfinished and honestly the worst battlefield in years. i enjoyed portal but hazardzone was really bad and empty. The 2042 mode was horrible everything from graphics being meh, no scoreboard, 4 assult rifles?, maps being bad, specialist? love having a wingsuit and just go full speed down and do a vault and keep running. large bulidingtested 10 hours of the full game.. the game is lacking, unfinished and honestly the worst battlefield in years. i enjoyed portal but hazardzone was really bad and empty.     While the repetition and lack of content cooled my enthusiasm a bit, I am excited to see where DICE can take Battlefield 2042 from here — if current industry trends hold, I’m confident this will be a strong addition to my already-full shooter rotation after a few months of additions and updates.
