I had trouble getting started, because the game is different from it's predecessor, with changes in emphasis to match the character of the hero. I ended up taking quite a bit of fall damage until I had figured out what worked for me and what did not. I played through at my own pace, in about a year, starting on Stadia and finishing on PS5. The breath of side quests kept me engaged, and I paced the storyline because I didn't want to hurry too much. In terms of value/money, this game heads my personal charts. I particularly loved the ending - the integration of the future storyline with the past is much more meaningful and mysterious than in prior games, and the ending hits hard both philosophically and on an emotional level, while simultaneously raising a few hair-raising questions about the entire Isu universe and the future of the franchise. Well done. Insanely well done. Expand

Most criminally underrated game of 2020 .
The Amount of effort put in by Ubisoft has paid off especially with the story and characters. It plays flawlessly on Ps5 60 frames no bugs .. nothing.

One of the best Assassins Creed games yet. Even for the beginning of the next gen era, the graphics are stunning. Music is epic and fighting much fun. Some hard edges need to be patched but nothin world changing.

Being able to fluidly switch from stealth to action at will really fits in this setting, I don't feel like I've "failed" if I stop sneaking and just decide to jump into the fray with axes and go Viking for a bit. Mission variety encourages you to experiment with both, and leaves options for both - I definitely ended an entire boss fight with a single instant stealth-kill because I'd built my skills out for that.

Great game, if you want to go be a Viking this is by far the best choice out there.

I thought it will be too much of Assassin's Creed but due to each game being better than the previous, I was not tired of all of this. But even so, Valhalla is much better than the previous parts. It's an almost perfect action RPG game - good story, plenty of quite interesting OPTIONAL side activities, the best combat system in the Assassin's Creed series etc.

Drawbacks are quite standard for Ubisoft: the game is too long. I've beaten the main story with plenty of sides in about 60 hours and about 20 hours more are needed for DLC and about 10-20 hours I guess for finishing with Order and other side quests. 100h is too much. People mostly like changes in their lives :) 100h in a single game is toooo damn much. Sony makes ideal-length games: Last of Us 2, GoW 2 and Horizon 2 are about 20-30 hours. It's the best length - not short not long.

But even though I can't assess the game less than 10 of 10 because the amount of work done is terrifying. I played the game in 2023 so missed almost all bugs - good for me, LOL.

Valhalla is a great game in the same level of Ghost of Tsushima. An interesting story in the times of viking invasions of England. The game changes for better the mechanics of Odyssey and Origins. The combat is looking at The level of Odyssey, and The freedom is bigger than in other titles of the saga. The order of the ancients was not that intriguing to me as the cult of cosmos was in Asassin's creed odyssey or even the order of the ancients in Assassin's creed origins i didn't feel that connected to them i didn't see them as threatening as in the previous games maybe because they where not the main focus the main focus of the story is the ancient gods THE ISO AC valhalla connects Asassin's creed origins and Odyssey story it was an amazing viking experience i wish Bjorn ironside was alive i wish Ragnar Lothbrok was alive so i could raid with them I wish they hired voice actors from the viking TV series and made the characters look like in the history TV series vikings i wish i could raid with Lagertha and sale on the boats of Floki that was a missed opportunity i don't think ubisoft handled the sons of ragnar partically well they made Ivar the boneless blinded by revenge and Ivar is never that blind he is very cunning and smart like his father Ragnar i was forced to kill Ivar there was no other options and Ubba's character felt like a filler in the story he is one of the great sons of ragnar yet they barely included him in the story they made him gullible and gave him a pointless death i liked King Alfred reminded me of the King Alfred from The Last kingdom i loved the progression of Basim it was a big surprise who Eivor Sigurd and Basim turned out to be i feel like Sigurd should have had more involvement in the story it felt kinda lonely traveling most of the time without him raiding and plundering without him i really loved sigurd's character i felt like he needed more involvement into the story of the game and gameplay of the game and i could say the same of King Harald the king of all norway we saw him in the begining of the game and than nothing that left a sour taste in my mouth since i love kind Harald in the viking Tv series i would love to see more from King Harald if the game is gonna have more DLC expansions after the Siege of Paris. this game has an overall improvement from Origins and Odyssey in the combat mechanics the dual weilding system is the best thing that happened to this game there is so many build choices you can go and the movesets are awesome i love the legendary weapons and the blacksmith crafting systems i love that you don't have to grind an entire decade for materials to upgrade your gear like in Odyssey i love that most of your ship crew fights with you when you raid i actually want the entire crew of the ship to plunder with me some of them stay on the ship the abilities are great Odyssey had better abilities the armor sets weapons and runes could use better perks i platinumed this game over 400hours i'm off to play Paris DLC but even with all it's flaws this is the best viking adventure and it will be remembered as the last best Assassin's creed of all time Expand

Of course it also has brutal combat and all that cool stuff, but what i'm trying to say is that it's not your average 5-10 hour game. If you don't wanna actually enjoy it and take your time, there's no point

According to Ubisoft this game was huge success and as hardcore assassinscreed fan i'm very happy for it. This game is amazing anyway, but just to hear that it's actually doing really well just made this november so much better. It's so much better than Odyssey that these two games shouldn't even be compared. This is more like 2020 Black Flag or something like that.

It's really good, idk what else to say, other than some fps issues (hopefully will be patched), i don't have much to complain about. Combat is solid, two open worlds Norway and England both are incredible. So many secret areas, story is fun so far. Very good.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is basically perfect game for this dark November till January time period. There's so many different locations like snowy Norway or stunningly beautiful England. So whatever mood you want, it's in this game. I'm really liking it so far. Some bugs here and there, but nothing crazy.

Great game and by far the best in this trilogy. They have a long main story and smaller "side quests" called world events. Explorations is rewarded greatly in this game which i love, it brings a new aspect to the game. They also have a new combat system which is more skill-based which brings a new aspect to the game

My god this game looks beautiful, story missions are pretty fun so far, but main standout here is open world (2 of them) that Ubisoft has created. This game might be their best map (or should i say maps) they have ever made in any of their games. Really cool world full of mystery and wonder.

At approximately 30 hours into this game, I can say it's the best out of the more recent series of Assassin's Creed open world games. Nearly every location or dot on the map is meaningful, giving important ingots to upgrade your gear, new sets of armor (which is quite rare - you'll need to commit to one set of armor early on), supplies for your settlement (nearly every building has an purpose that adds either side quests or neat little minigames to the game), short "mystery" side quests that are surprisingly engaging and interesting or ancient Roman artifacts or parkour mini games that reward you with tattoo and longboat schematics. Combat is engaging, taking elements from Origins with use of a shield and standard hack-and-slash and the light & hunter bows (along with predator bow - your sniper rifle, basically), and utilizes the use of weak spots you can hit with your arrow to stagger your enemy so you can run in for a stun. The skill tree implements some useful, more standard non-flashy abilities to use in combat (stomping on an enemy, chain assassinations, picking up weapons on the battlefield and throwing them at will) alongside abilities hidden throughout the map that use adrenaline. Admittedly, I've found a lot of these abilities to not be overly useful or just a bit too strange to work into combat meaningfully. So far, the most useful has been poisoning my weapons or the standard jump and hit from above move.

The main quest (essentially, conquering England) is interesting, and Eivor provides for a calm and assertive character to play with. Personally, I preferred Kassandra, but Eivor proves to be likable regardless. The world map is beautiful - especially the starting zone in Norway. I encourage exploring a little bit before leaving for England because you won't get such gorgeous snow-capped mountain views for what I assume is a while.

For downsides, I'll list this: the leveling zones aren't really the best system for this game. It's easy to accidentally cross a river into a way high level zone where you will get instantly KO'd, far easier than in Odyssey or Origins, where I barely noticed the fact zones were leveled. Additionally, some enemies even in zones you're the appropriate level for will, for some absurd reason, be nearly 100 levels or more above you. This is mostly for the oddball mystery side quest, but I still find this annoying, especially when I want to clear out all of the objectives in one go. Some puzzles can be quite difficult - some, even when I googled the answer I still couldn't figure out and had to bail (and I'm not sure if those were bugs or just me being dumb). On the note of bugs, there are certainly some, but none can't be fixed without a quick game reboot. There was one quest in Oxen-something-shire that wouldn't seem to end (a side lower-the-strength-of-the-nation kind of quest), but I figure I'll just ignore that.

At a point of the game, you get reach Asgard. Here, you don't quite play as Eivor - instead someone wearing their face and acting as a god there alongside Thor, Tyr, and other recognizable names. Here, the wealth objectives seem quite pointless - another mark against the game - apparently only granting 5 skill points after collecting 30 of these "Ymir" shards, each requiring a puzzle to find and solve. I'd recommend just doing the mysteries in this zone, as they are still fairly engaging.

Overall, Valhalla succeeds in doing what Origins and Odyssey failed: cutting out the repetitive fluff quests and working in countless minigames, notes to read scattered in locations across the map, little pieces of wealth and side quests to discover that are all unique in their own way. In this way, the AC franchise truly begins to bloom as an open world game. The game even continues Odyssey's idea of legendary beast hunting, which was definitely a fun part for me in Odyssey; and overall, the combat is improved, requiring you to think on your feet. I played on Hard mode, which I can say is difficult enough for me; I beat Odyssey in Nightmare difficulty, and this provides a much more engaging, less spam 500 arrows playstyle.

Should you buy it for the full price tag? If you love open world games and the AC franchise, I say yes. If you don't and just want a casual play, I would wait until it at least comes down to half-price. And, it's common sense, but wait for the DLC to be released in full before paying $100 for the ultimate edition (I can confirm that the wolf mount is awesome, though).

This game is incredible! Even just small details how insanely beautiful water looks when sun sets in England or Ice caves in Norway. There's so much to do and explore. But this game is very clearly not for people who just wanna finish quick game and move on to next one. I think everyone should know that at this point.

Amazing soundtrack, i could literally meditate to that main menu music, so well done.
If you hate this game, maybe just give up gaming or something, find new hobby, because you clearly aren't able to enjoy greatness. If it's not your style or whatever, that's fine, Assassin's Creed was never "game for everyone", but just hating it shows how pathetic you are.
    Amazing game.

I thought they don't make good games anymore?? Apparently i was wrong, this game made me speechless when i first booted it up. Voice acting, story, open world, graphics, different cities and hidden locations. This game might have best looking water i have seen in any video game ever, because it's kinda my hobby to compare different game's water effects and this one is just absolute top tier.

With an amazing story, I didn't want to stop playing the game because I didn't want to leave the beautiful world and the amazing character, I wanted to see how this world and story is gonna end. The story is not the best in the franchise but it's better than the previous 2 Assassin's Creed games. I liked the amazing ending and I'm so excited to play and see the next Assassin's Creed game. And the amazing gameplay and less gears, unlike the previous 2 Assassin's Creed games. The good thing that made Assassin's Creed Valhalla special than the previous 2 Assassin's Creed games is that Assassin's Creed Valhalla has social stealth. On of the best features that makes you an Assassin. Now I talked about the positive points in the game and now it's time to talk about the negative points. Assassin's Creed Valhalla had glitches in the post launch. I personally had a glitch that I can't get the last mission of the Order of The Ancients, but thankfully they fixed it fast. 98% of the glitches has been fixed and Ubisoft are working on the rest of the glitches and the DLCs. There are two competing experiences here: that as as Assassin, and that as a Viking, that either on its own feels like it might have been a triumph and better than this good but not great Assass-king hybrid we have.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla effortlessly plants its banner as the best open world RPG available for the new consoles. This Viking epic flexes its gore-soaked, tattooed muscles when it comes to world-building, and medieval England wows with its enchanting untamed vistas. It’s also portioned out at a steady pace and, if not for the repetitive, limited combat, Valhalla could have ranked even higher among our favourite games in the series.

Is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla the best entry in the series yet? Some would be tempted to say so. While the map size might overwhelm some players, it remains an easy game to mainline with the right navigation mode turned on. In fact, the quick load times help to make this an even easier task than in previous generations. This is an iteration of Assassin’s Creed that has a bit of everything from the previous games, as refined as we have seen to date.
