I have had a lot of mixed feelings about this game. First and foremost, I liked it for the most part, compared to other AC games. The story I thought was great and had a nice ending: The Eivor and Sigurd saga, traveling to Asgard and Jotunheim was fun, some of the province arcs were great and unique from the others (for the most part). Its biggest downfall is by far is its length, it took me 70 hrs to finish this game. Most people that play an rpg game for that long are simply there to 100% the game, not still trying to finish the main story line. I enjoyed the game at the start and for the first 40 hrs or so, but there seemed to simply be no end in sight at that point and everything started feeling tiring and monotonous. Besides that main problem, this game was teetering on the border of being too glitchy for my liking. Some very annoying bugs appeared here and there, sometimes had to completely reload. For the most part it worked alright, but was a bit of a nuisance at critical moments. The real world story still makes no sense to me (ever since Desmond died in AC III) and feels completely needless on top of the historical saga. The combat I found to be alright, nothing too different than Odyssey or Origins, not the biggest fan of this dark souls combat system either, was too finicky and annoying at times like would often catch on fire or miss the timing of the parries. Overall, this game was a mixed bag for me, it had good elements but was just too freeken long. Expand

F@@k all these Ubisoft employees with the fake accounts giving 10s! This game deserves a 6-7, not 0 and definitely not 10.

It is a huge improvement from the past AC game.

I have to update my review, the game overstayed its welcome, beware that it is a never ending game. I actually quit out of boredom (after 80 hours of gameplay and realizing that I wasn´t even close to getting to the end of the story), games need to have a conclusion and this one seems to not understand that. It is like a 1000 page book, that you enjoy for the first 500, slug through the next 300 because you actually want to read the conclusion, but you finally quit because it becomes tedious and repetitive, and you want to eventually read other books in your collection...

This game is a significant downgrade from Origins. The gaming mechanics are pure trash. Advertised as a "PS5 Upgrade" the graphics and atmosphere are not even comparable to Black Flag. Another cut and paste game from a series that is getting worse, not better.

this is a big step backwards from Oddessy and Origins. The stealth has even less of a emphasis now and its never really explained to you again that you should be stealth through the cities you find. they assume you have played the last two.
even on the harder difficulty i never had a need to use stealth at all for any part of the game, so the game becomes extremely shallow very quickly.

like it's... fine? i forgot about the story about 3 hours into it and just used it to fight enemies and loot cool gear. much in the vein of Fallout 4, the story is so lacking and the open world so vast (and i should say empty of any real driving force) that it's easy to lose yourself in fetch quests.

I had a great time playing this game, but there are far to many missions in the main story that could be cut out in order to make the game a good overall experience. The combat system was very fun, but I found myself fatigued by the large amount of mainline missions that added very little to the game.

Beautiful game graphically but honestly that's it. Incredibly long story, around 60 hours of game play and it gets boring after 30. Story is just alright, you get repetitive things to do and the world feels soulless. Would be interesting for Ubisoft to try out some new ideas with its games and finally come out with some new IPs. I used the first weapon the game gave me and it was able to carry me through the entirety of the playthrough, which was a big step up from Odyssey and Origins where you feel like you have to switch weapons often. Valhalla is extremely mid. The game play, soundtrack and graphics are good, the setting is good. The story is not so good.

It is incredibly repetitive, the missions are all the same. I could not complete a side quest without falling asleep. It is another classic Ubisoft copy and paste job. I hope that Mirage is different.

I'm a little torn by this game. The vikings were great, Eivor was great, the combat and exploration was great. I loved the opening few hours, and the closing few hours. I think it could have been better if the whole game had been set in Norway, because the sections of the game set there were FAR more interesting. I also hated the male/female Eivor choice. It was so obviously just their way of giving butthurt male players an option to play as a male, instead of Ubisoft just giving us a sole female protagonist for once.
In Odyssey, it made sense; whoever you didn't pick still featured in the game as the antagonist, and it works very very well. Male Eivor had no place in this game, considering female Eivor was the canon, and the male one is stuffed into this Valhalla story that has NO place in the game. No hate to the voice actor of course! Just a cowardly choice by Ubisoft.

The game became repetitive real quick. The map is overwehlming. The world is stunning, as usual, but i found myself bored in like 10 hours in game. The story is interesting, but poorly executed. And I do really enjoy the new gear upgrading system, as well as the new talent tree (which is really the only thing that motivated me to keep playing). Those are really the only good things I can say about the game. I understand the development team was forced to work around the pandemic, but I'd have gladly waited however long it takes to fully polish this game.

My enjoyment of this title was consistently hamstrung by moments of stunning sloppiness. Didn't RDR2 already show us how to do snowy environments? Honestly—and very disappointingly—playing Assassin's Creed: Odyssey on my PS4 looks miles better than Valhalla on my PS5. I sincerely hope Ubisoft can patch in some graphical improvements ASAP, but it's so much more than that. The animations are unnatural, the combat is often unresponsive, and the company's refusal to fully commit to a female protagonist is perennially disappointing.

It still scratches the AC itch, but I know from playing past games that it could have been so much better. Maybe I *will* just go back to Odyssey...

Is it something new? Absolutely no, everything is safe.
The game is ok to play, but oh-god, it's so boring after 20 hours. Like, you are doing the same things over and over and over. The problem is they are not fed-ex quests, it's the main story.

There's a lot of content overall, but it feels like an absolute slog most of the time. The characters are mid, the combat is below average, and severely lacks depth despite the game's seemingly "deep" skill tree, the stealth is hit or miss - mostly miss - and not fun at all, and the big moments don't do much for me at all. Side missions have become an important part of the AC games, as they take up a large portion of the game if you're into stuff like that. The side missions in Valhalla are some of the weakest in the series yet. The game itself is also very buggy, and it came out nearly two years ago. This game was massively disappointing and it doesn't feel complete despite all the 'content' the game has in it. Expand

Too long, story is boring, Eivor isn't a compelling character like Ezio, Bayek or even Alexios. The best thing about this game was the loading times - and that's just a PS5 feature. If you loved the Ezio trilogy, or Origins/Odyssey, then avoid this game. It's nowhere near as good. The first ever AC that I returned for a refund.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla effortlessly plants its banner as the best open world RPG available for the new consoles. This Viking epic flexes its gore-soaked, tattooed muscles when it comes to world-building, and medieval England wows with its enchanting untamed vistas. It’s also portioned out at a steady pace and, if not for the repetitive, limited combat, Valhalla could have ranked even higher among our favourite games in the series.

Is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla the best entry in the series yet? Some would be tempted to say so. While the map size might overwhelm some players, it remains an easy game to mainline with the right navigation mode turned on. In fact, the quick load times help to make this an even easier task than in previous generations. This is an iteration of Assassin’s Creed that has a bit of everything from the previous games, as refined as we have seen to date.
