Bruh this game running on 24 fps on 1440p that even goes down to 20 fps on ps5. Hopefully I'll be able to refund it cause I can't play it in its current state.

Its absurd to even consider a game running at 30 FPS in 2022. The new consoles are more than capable of running this game at 60. Bad optimization and incopetence from the studio makes this a terrible experience. Hopefully a new patch will render the game playable and a worthy follow up to the previous game.

I paid for a next-gen game, I get a 30fps game on PS5 with lags, even in small areas !
They asked us to wait for day one patch. Well, we are still waiting and we don't even get any news about the situation.

Innocence was great so I don't understand what happened.
If you want to buy it, wait until you have a powerful computer or a PS5 pro ;)

I liked the first game really well. The 2nd one gets very boring quickly with avoiding rats and soldiers. It seems so much like the first game. Primitive gameplay with nothing more than simple hide and seek mechanics and autoaim. Cheesy story supported by flat, uninteresting characters and awfully overacted voiceacting ruin potencially great atmosphere and setting. If you liked first one, you'd probably like Requiem too. But... technical side on PS5 is horrible. Only 30 FPS mode with frame drops and stutters is unacceptable. No optimisation whatsoever, no performance mode, nothing. And they didn't even have the decency to let us know before the game was released. Don't buy now... we must boycott such practices and laziness of developers. Shame on them.

Why do developers in 2022 STILL prioritize how good a game looks over how good it feels to play it? You're not making a movie, you're making a game.

I would not recommend picking this up until developers sort out some of these performance issues. It's unacceptable to release an unstable 30 fps game in 2022.

There is literally no excuse as to why these developers can't add a performance mode in their $60 game. It just goes to show how cheap and lazy these developers are. The physics are trash. The gameplay is boring and repetitive.

There is no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, there is literally not a reason to play this game again. Charging $60 for a game with no replay value is a cash grab. That little kid could have made for a decent co-op, but the developers were too greedy and lazy for that. Speaking of that kid, he is annoying. If I could just RKO that annoying kid in this game, I would rate this higher than a 0. I don't recommend this boring game at all.

P.S. Hey Metacritic, are your mods full of children? I have an opinion. Like it or not, learn to accept it. How dare I give a game a 0 for failing to meet my high standards for $60 games. It doesn't even have a performance mode on PS5 for goodness sake, and I can't give them a 0? Not to mention that you chose to make 0 an option in this site.

Making stones more "stony", fabric more "fabricy", grass more "grassy"? Is this a joke? Who, in their right mind, will even notice it, during normal gameplay, running mostly in dim-lighted corridors, sitting a good distance from a tv? At least give people an option, to choose between 30 and 60 fps mode.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Loved the first game, but this one fell apart so fast. First of all Amicia just wont shut up for the first half of the game. She only has one mode: panicky. It doesn't make any sense in the context of the previous game's story. She's constantly losing her sht and the voice actress overacts so much. This is so weird since the previous game was NOT like this.

Then we have the story. My goodness was I annoyed and bored out of my mind playing this with my gf. Arnaud tries to kill Amicia and Hugo, but then SUDDENLY, for no reason whatsoever he saves them. There is even a sequence with him where he WILL kill you if he catches you, constantly taunting Amicia. Oh, then he's just your ally, because this is the level of writing. I would sometimes just blurt out loud "maybe the frenemies were the enemies we made along the way".

Hugo ends up literally just chasing a blatant lie, there is no cure. We of course could have suspected this from the very start, but the story thinks it's being clever trying to trick us. Really, the BEST thing that could have been done from the very start would have been for Amicia to put a rock in Hugo's head and spare all the millions he kills. This is what ends up happening anyway.

Did I mention Huge kils a sh1ton of people? It's hard to relate to the little sh1t since he doesn't feel any remorse whatsoever. Oh, neither does Amicia who should know better how Hugo is a walking disaster.

At one point they split off from Lucas and their mother and I get the feeling they couldn't give two fks about the people they were supposed to care about in the first game.

They reach an island where the "cure" was supposed to be. Locals have a legend about a child of embers, phoenix tropes, blah blah. Turns out the Count, the main villain, just made that all up because his wife is crazy, but somehow Hugo has a vision of this at the start of the game? Why? Because the Macula curse "tricked" Hugo? Huh?

Amicia has these utterly stupid girlboss moments, but she gets slapped down every time. The toxic female empowerment here is off the charts, but somehow the writers thought they shouldn't push it too hard. It doesn't make much sense anyway since at one point you find Amicia's predecessor who took down like 40 soldiers. Yeah, sure she did, you slay queen in a universe where it's accepted that strength and armor do matter in a fight. Heck, a dude wouldn't have been able to do that, especially given the puny size of her predecessor's armor. This even happens in a fight were Amicia is injured and stupidly tries to use a two handed sword with one arm. She gets sliced up good, but is fine 5 minutes later.

By the way, it was never really clear where the rats came from. Turns out they really are magical and are created in these huge disgusting pods. So when Hugo first arrives on the island he says he can't feel them. Then you find like a zillion under the island in a nest. The nest is literally formed of tens of thousands of skeletons. Like, how could people not have noticed this and kept coming to a remote island that literally couldn't house the population found in the rat nest?

Then there's the tonal shifts. The game will literally be at its most doom and gloom, yet they find some flower and are cheery all of a sudden.

Look, this game should never have been made. It's a shameless cashgrab with a story that is forced, the worst kind of sequel. Stick to the first one.

I enjoyed the first Plague Tale game. The puzzles were new and interesting and I managed to make it through the game completely. This game is completely different and feels very unfinished. I paid full retail price for this game on the basis of my enjoyment of the first and I've been very bored and disappointed with this game. I'm 10 chapters in and just want to give up now out of sheer frustration of how clunky and ridgid and unpolished this game is. I don't mind the 30fps since it feels relatively smooth to me still. Thats not my issue. The visuals look good. My issue with the game is that there is no variety going into puzzles or challenges. The gameplay is pure trial and error and every challenge has to be completed in a specific way so you die until you do what you're supposed to do and a lot of the times it's not obvious at all what the devs intend for you to do hence the game feels unpolished, hollow and unfinished. The combat in the game sucks, the stealth is the game is amazingly stupid and the worst I've ever experienced. You literally have to progress with trial and error and can't use your intuition or logic to progress. The clunkiness of the mechanics becomes frustrating since you'll be walking with a child and another NPC that often gets in your way. This is a £5-£10 game and definitely much worse than the first. I regret paying full retail for this and can't bring myself to finish it. Expand

By the time A Plague Tale: Requiem concludes, it will feel like being dragged by a pick-up truck, across miles of concrete. The world depicted is a bleak and cruel one with no light at the end of the tunnel. Players will be getting their money's worth, as this is a very long game that is punctuated with lots of gimmicky sequences that add value to the package. The story does have a lot for fans to discuss, and the visuals are amazing, even if they came at the cost of a high frame rate. The gameplay is technically better than the first, but it was never amazing to begin with. The over reliance on prebaked contextual actions and the rigidness of simplistic stealth is something most could expect from a seventh gen console title, not a ninth gen console release.
