WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a party-oriented wrestling game with simple controls and deformed wrestlers. A package that works surprisingly well thanks to quick and flashy matches. However, the lack of depth is apparent, and it is difficult to ignore all the microtransaction - even if they are optional. It is still a fun party game, especially for the fans, but wait for a price drop.

The reality is: WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a game nobody will remember a year from now. It lacks so much of what made over-the-top arcade wrestling games great in the first place, while also being filled to the brim with microtransactions. The spectacle of its over-the-top moves and abilities are quickly lost in the tedium of its progression, lack of depth, budget presentation, and technical issues. It almost feels like 2K has come crashing down with the WWE license...and it hurts inside.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a game that seems like it exists purely to house its storefront, offering predatory microtransactions which would be overly pricy in a free-to-play game. In a paid title - even a budget one - they're offensive. The only silver lining here is that the game is rubbish anyway, so feel free to skip it without feeling like you're missing out.

The character design is hideous. Just because the gameplay is unrealistic doesn't mean the characters have to look like dwarf weirdos. I'd much rather have characters with realistic proportions than some midget freaks. Who's to say you can't have realistic looking playable characters in an unrealistic game? Just look at Saints Row 4.

The combat is so boring and repetitive. When I pay $40, I expect a combat system with depth and detail. All the developers did in this game is put pretty colorful lights during every move, to give players the illusion that the game is fun. None of that was fun for me. So many match types are missing like Ladder, Tables and Elimination Chamber. You can only have up to 4 wrestlers in 1 ring.

The multiplayer is a complete embarrassment. There isn't even a lobby system. The campaign is a pile of garbage. There is only 1 song that plays during the main menu, and it is awful. The developers were to greedy to give us licensed tracks or make more original music. I don't recommend this joke of a game at all. This should be a free-to-play game.

Gave it a 1 because it does run. Most regrettable game purchase I've ever made and i would feel the same at 15$, but this game is 40$ wGave it a 1 because it does run. Most regrettable game purchase I've ever made and i would feel the same at 15$, but this game is 40$ w microtransactions and it doesnt even offer any online matchmaking which is insane. I thought tag team would be fun, good luck finding 3 ppl you already know who were also dumb enough to buy this game. The roster is just ok, creating a wrestler is generic and pointless. It got old after about an hour, the gameplay is stale, terrible collision, limited movesets. Full Review »
