I suspect it will on the Wii U as well, very basic detail compared to Infamous and Watch Dogs) this game is blackly funny and good fun. Although Doom4 will need to be far more detailed and soaked in next gen effects, I guess these graphics suit Wolfenstein ok. But please id and Machine games? These graphics won't cut it for a new Doom game!
Anyway this game is big fun and I recommend it.

however, the narrative seems great, even if I can't actually finish it. the protagonist is unique, as he is characterised by resilience, and can dual wield what every other game would consider a two handed weapon. the supporting cast is also great, and the villains strike a great balance between realistic and cartoony.

What is with all the F-bombs and edgy swearing? Is that supposed to be the sign of a adult game?

The graphics and lighting are a improvement over the 360 version, but this game still doesn't look to great. It has a last gen remastered look to it. Technically the game seems fine runs and plays well. Some games just don't need the movie-esque touch and run and gun Wolfenstein used to be one of them. However not any more, oh well.

It is not a bad game it just isn't Wolfenstein for it's era.. The ending was was a total unsatisfying anticlimax. An over-the-top shooter that will quench your Nazi killing thirst. The game doesn't include a multiplayer, nor was I that impressed with the single player campaign. However, the game does do one thing well and that is.. kill Nazis. Machinegames could have done better with the next gen versions by including higher resolution textures. Try before buy.

I never play games for the "story", I play them because they are games, but I must say this one is probably the lamest story I have encountered for quite a while.
On the plus side, it lasts for a good long while, especially if you are after the collectables and various trophies, though the graphics are no better than many I have seen on the PS3.

The shooting mechanics and guns are very fun and it feels like an old school shooter. The problem comes with the developers using resources to only have a single player game, but it falls short due to jarring cut scenes while in the middle of the action. When it picks up a lot of the time, you enter a cut scene and it's almost a let down. Stealth mechanic is very easy to get into. With that said, full price for a 12 hour single player campaign with lack of multi-player doesn't cut it today. It is great to be back in the Wolfenstein universe, but they should have added up to date multiplayer that we saw in RTCW to make it worth the valuer of a purchase. It's definitely worth playing through, but not until it goes on sale (I would place the value at $29) or hits Playstation Plus as a free game. Complaints about AI were unfounded, that really isn't an issue here.

Next time I hope they design a multiplayer similar to RTCW, or at the very least have more content when they are charging full price like this.

Lots of time has gone into the game world but I don't understand the world. On one hand it tries to tell this dark dramatic story, on the other hand it's kind of ridiculous (robot dogs acting like real dogs). It doesn't succeed in being dramatic, nor in being funny. The worst example of the AI is around the middle chapters of the game, the enemies chase you at walking speed with batons, and sidestep like crabs....it's bizarre.

Being over 3 year late to the party and enjoying Bethesda's DooM alot (not to mention some critics that I liked Wolfenstein) , I wanted to strap myself in for a ride through one of the game series that pushed for first person shooters to become mainstream. Unfortunately, The New Order is not always lenient order.

The game struggles with narrative very much. I understand some people don't care about their narratives and stories and want to kill Nazis, but to establish a plot and try to involve different characters alongside pacing is just all over the place. Blazkowicz is the main protagonist and goes on a mission to assassinate a major Nazi war figure in WW2 to end it. The mission fails and critically wounded he stays in a coma for 14 years, only to wake up shoving a utensil right into a Nazi's face. From there it's a revenge story tied with the typical rebel Star Wars style story that try to fight the world power of Nazi Germany. From here there is alot of problems. Although the alternate history concept is very good and even having some background to establish it, the main plot is so mediocre that I lost any interest in anyone but Blazkowicz. His main team are generic stereotype labeled "insert cliche here" types that really have no depth and intrigued for me to care about their plights. The Nazis themselves are much the same, with the antagonists lacking any sort of depth or complexity and instead are mustache twirling baddies that just give us a reason to kill them.

I don't expect master story work from this game (as the way the world and level design works echoes Half Life 2's sewers and sometimes lack of music) but to make a narrative and write it the way this game does, I had no real draw or just laughed at it, like when Blazkowicz casually says he's on the (bleep)ing moon. In fact, if his character wasn't so funny with the way he talks in a American patriot soldier stereotype and ASMR style, he would have easily annoyed me but kept me fairly entertained for what he says. The rest are so forgettable that I just block myself out.

But gameplay is clearly the most important for this game and it works fairly well. You have different weapons to take down targets like shotguns, assault rifles, laser beams and throwing knifes that all have their cathartic advantages when killing things. The stealth, however is very lame: enemies will die in one hit from throwing knives despite being covered in armor and using the knife takedowns don't feel gratifying and more like going through the motions. It's serviceable, but to not have a better execution is weak in my opinion. It also makes no sense at points where I would vaporize targets right in front of other enemies and still not trigger a full scale fight. That's due to the bugged AI that is can be terribly bad and funny. Enemies will glitch in walls or behind cover, appear out of nowhere, and do completely moronic tactics like throwing grenades at walls and bounce back at their feet and die. Stealth is hilariously flawed, as you will be seen sometimes in broad daylight AND make loud sounds even crouched and no one attacks instant, rather they gasp and only get curious. Considering this is the other half of the game for players, this makes stealth sections passable only for the humor and of course killing of Nazis.

Which of course Wolfenstein's greatest strength, killing the Nazi soldiers and units is quite satisfying mostly. You go up against grunts, super soldiers, attack dogs and other units that make it challenging for you to succeed in at certain points. A few fights I got myself into that stealth couldn't be possible and I died a good deal before winning. I also "like" the designs of them too, making it even more of a reason to kill them all and end their abominable creations. The music accompanying is solid, but sometimes felt like it didn't match the tone at all to what was being on screen. The exploration the game has for certain areas is pretty cool, but the linearity of the levels only make it a tease rather than a full step on allowing multiple different ways to go through it, which is due to the narrative. The perk system is nice, the guns feel a bit wimpy on packing a punch and the graphics are ok.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a good game, but only because of the catharsis for killing Nazis. If you expect a multiplayer, a good story, great stealth or anything like that, then you should play something else. Being three years late and having bugs STILL in the game is no excuse or reason at this point, but should you want to let loose some rage. Wolfenstein: The New Order mostly has you covered.

While on your mission to hunt down a satanic General "Deathshead", you get a piece of shrapnel lodged into the back of your head, thus putting you in a vegetative state for 14 years. Once you've recovered, you realize the nazis have won WW2, and with the help of some resistance fighters, you must put an end to the nazi reign. I thought the story was good albeit with a few cliches that sort of revealed what the 3rd act was gonna be like. To know what I'm talking about, think about Dishonored or The Dark Brotherhood questline in Skyrim. I also liked the concept of nazis winning WW2 and seeing all their mysterious contraptions being created like mechanical hounds or panzer solders. It does add a nice touch of flavor to enemy variety. I also liked a lot of the side characters. A few of them have nice personalities and good backstories along with being well voiced. My biggest problem with the characters is with our hero and his love interest. Blazkowicz has such an uninteresting personality that I got bored of him 1 hour into my playthrough. He rarely talks during the game only during a few cutscenes or when he's having a flashback and he has to say out loud what he's thinking about, he has no distinguishable traits outside of loving to kill nazis, and in some of the more engaging moments of the story, he just stands there saying nothing and making the scene a little more awkward. I also didn't like his love interest Anya. I just couldn't buy their love since they don't really do anything outside of having sex and discussing mission plans to advance the plot. They didn't get any scenes together to develop their characters which in turn, made the finally much less engaging to me then if Machine Games had improved their characters. Overall, the story's fine and outside of our unbelievable couple, the characters and villains are strong. 7/10

    Gameplay:
Wolfenstein does a few new things to make the gameplay unique. The biggest difference from other shooters is that you can dual-wield any weapons you find in the game as long as they're the same gun. They also added a perk system where instead of earning skill points to unlock these, you complete certain challenges that fall under Stealth, Assault, Tactical, and Demolition. If you wanted to, you can actually "boost" to get the unlocks by simple restarting from a checkpoint with all your perk statuses unchanged. You can also use stealth to your advantage which makes the game easy when you have the right perks, dual-wielding suppressed pistols, and/or throwing knives. To make things more easier when you do stealth, the guards rarely seem to notice when their buddy got shot and their body is on the floor. The level design is solid, there are some nice collectables to find, in the beginning, you have to make a choice which will alter the story and gameplay a bit, and like I said earlier, there are a nice variety of enemies to fight, but this is also one of the game's problems to me. Towards to end of the game, Machine Games does what I HATE in these kinds of games, and that's shoving every single special enemy down my throat. There are sections where you'll be fighting some standard enemy soldiers which is fine, but then you also have to fight 10+ rocket launcher enemies (also come with heavy armor), 5+ heavily armored minigun enemies, and 2 panzer soldiers which are the hardest enemies to kill. I really can't stand when games just throw everything they got at you towards the end of the game just to be "challenging" when in reality, they're just compensating for their dumb A.I., and the A.I. here is pretty generic. They don't do anything unique or smart and end up reminding me of the kind of enemies that appear in Call Of Duty games. Some final things I'll say are that the health system here is cool by allowing you to go beyond your max health by "overcharging it" although it'll fall back to your maximum amount, It's annoying having to manually pick up all items off the ground instead of walking over them, and the weapon wheel on consoles SUCKS since even if you move the analogue stick just a little bit, the arrow goes 90 degrees into the weapon you DIDN"T want. Just get the PC version for the hotkeys. 7/10

    Graphics:
The game looks mediocre on PS4 seeing as how outside of resolution and FPS, everything from textures to facial models looks last gen. 5/10

    Sound:
The games soundtrack and sound effects all sound great in this game with the soundtrack adding some nice tension during the gameplay. 8/10

    Verdict:
The game's good, but it suffers from having a generic protagonist and a generic love interest, some problems with the gameplay, and the last gen visuals. In my opinion, I'll say wait for a price drop before purchasing. For the best experience possible, get this on PC not just because of better graphics, but for the hotkeys. Seriously, the weapon wheel to me is that bad.

I actually wasn’t entirely sure what to expect out of this going into it. The “Wolfenstein” series is one that I’ve heard good things about, but otherwise never really paid all that much attention to (a quote I can probably use when describing most of Bethesda’s other games as well). And admittedly, even in the largely lackluster year for gaming that was 2014, “Wolfenstein: The New Order”I actually wasn’t entirely sure what to expect out of this going into it. The “Wolfenstein” series is one that I’ve heard good things about, but otherwise never really paid all that much attention to (a quote I can probably use when describing most of Bethesda’s other games as well). And admittedly, even in the largely lackluster year for gaming that was 2014, “Wolfenstein: The New Order” was a game that kinda slipped by the cracks for me: I think I’d remembered hearing that the game was just “fine” when it first came out then, and though I’ve heard a few people say that it’s aged nicely, I can say after finally playing the game 5 years later that “fine” is pretty much the best descriptor for the game.
There are a lot of things to love about “Wolfenstein: The New Order” right off the bat: graphically, while some of the models in the game do kind of show their age, the visuals are nevertheless detailed and pretty great. I love how well the game captures the look and feel of a 1960s, WWII shooter, and many of the levels are designed in a way that begs for exploration. The game also really shines in its writing, what with the interesting alternate history concept and the Axis winning the war, along with the many memorable characters. Naturally, Blazkowicz is the real highlight here, and what I can really commend this game on is that Blazkowicz feels like a really deep and layered character. I’ve heard a lot about how Blazkowicz was previously just a character merely bent on winning for America, but now, he actually has more emotional depth and he feels like a more sympathetic character. I also really enjoy much of the gameplay: beyond the strong gunplay and interesting dual-wielding, I really love how the game utilizes its stealth elements, to the point where it’s not afraid to slow things down from other shooters and emphasize strategy more than mindless killing.
So, honestly, for much of the game I was really loving my experience, and I thought this game had the potential to be one of the better shooters that I’ve played. But, unfortunately, at about the last third, this game almost completely drags its way to the finish and flames out. The level design becomes less interesting and more frustrating to deal with at time, the difficulty spike can often be way too large, even if you’re like me and you played the game on a lower difficulty setting, and the boss battles in the game are mostly pretty bad. I don’t know if it’s because they didn’t know how to make compelling boss fights, but fighting them just feels really dull, clunky and just not all that captivating.
All in all, though, while “Wolfenstein: The New Order” may not be the top-of-the-line FPS I was hoping it would be in the early stages of it, and is certainly rough around the edges, this is a nicely-made, all-around fine shooter while it lasts. It won’t stand the test of time or forever be remembered as an all-time classic in the realm of gaming, but given the tumultuous period it seemed the series was going through prior to this game’s release, this was probably better than it had the right to be.

I want to start out by saying I LOVE FPS games. I can't wait for the next big shooter to come out.

However, this game definitely aint it. It didn't bring a single new thing to the table, which I could forgive if everything else it did worked well. Graphically speaking, a very poor game. I felt that I was playing it on 360 rather than PS4. It had a very old school feel, which I do

It had a very old school feel, which I do like, but the controls were just not well thought out. The cover system felt very awkward and the weapon wheel really takes you out of the action. Even after several hours of play I couldn't stand the controls and ditched using the peek mechanic altogether. Also, having to press a button every time you want to pick up ammo, health, armor or any collectible is incredibly frustrating. You're looking at the ground for most of the game trying to pick things up. During a firefight when you need that crucial medkit or extra ammo you will find this insanely tedious. Come on Bethesda, did you even play this game before release?

The story is meh. Pretty inconsequential. It's just an excuse to kill nazis, which is cool, I guess. But don't we want games that do more than just give you an excuse to kill everything in incredibly violent ways? (Looking at bioshock)

My vote: save your $60 for something better. This is a rental at best.

WOLFENSTEIN THE NEW ORDER is the best WOLFENSTEIN game to appear since RETURN TO CASTLE WOLFENSTEIN. The good guys, the bad guys, the plot, the music, everything just fits in this game. I was happy to see a first person shooter that actually cared about the plot with good cutscenes and a number of characters in the game that you do care for.
The graphics were just ok. I expected much more

The graphics were just ok. I expected much more from the PS4 version of the game and while the character models look ok the environmental textures are just PS3 era. This for me, along with a minor audio issues, is the main problem of the main.
All in all, if you like a nostalgic trip, with a very interesting and different take to the originals, I recommend you try this game. The graphics are mediocre, but all the rest make up for a very good adventure!

This game is sub par, I love the Wolfenstein series but this offering doesn't feel part of it. Story is poor graphics are decidedly last gen and I felt happy to have completed it as I wouldn't have to play it again.
8 hours gameplay on a single play through at 5 out of 10 stars.
    Don't believe the hype!

It's alright. Not too bad. Not too much to get excited about but is a decent enough story. The chapters get a little repetitive throughout. I do feel that the most exciting thing about the game were the trailers and I felt a little let down by the graphics.

Anyone who describes this game as an "old school-styled" FPS is either an idiot or wasn't alive in the 90's to play games like Doom, Quake, Goldeneye 007, or Wolfenstein 3-D. If you're hoping this game is similar to any of the above games, avoid this game like the plague.

It's basically Call of Duty with a Wolfenstein theme, which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you're into CoD. Except

I don't know about this one, I kinda lost interest after 2-3 hours. It's not in any way a bad game it just didn't keep me hooked. I'll maybe one day grab it on ps+ in a couple of years or so. Until then...

I would say that it's enjoyable at best, irritating at worst. While it's nice to take a step away from the clear-cut military shooter genre, this game doesn't quite hit the spot. Gameplay is solid, the story is decent. The sound goes from good to downright awful with some very questionable sound effects which made me play large portions of the game with my TV muted. The music is good, but often at such a low volume that all the environmental sound effects block it. The game gets boring towards the end, running into the same enemies in the same environments with nothing changed except more smoke and higher health-pools, making the difficult to kill armored enemies even more annoying. Towards the end when I went into a room and saw the enemies, all I could think of was "not this **** again". That was when I knew that even though it was a good try, its in the end not a good game. Wolfenstein: The New Order - Review

WTNO is a decent FPS. It does a fair job at creating a unique atmosphere thanks to the concept of what life would be in case of a German-won WW2. Some sequences of the game are really good. My favorite is the mission where you have to infiltrate and live in a 1960s nazi concentration camp. The combination of the horror we already know with the effects of an alternate future is really bizarre, intriguing and interesting.

That previous example perfectly defines what I like about this game. Those parts where the point of the game doesn’t actually only consist of killing stronger and stronger enemies. And unfortunately, for the biggest part, that’s what Wolfenstein The New Order is about. Especially for the last 3-4 chapters, all you do is fighting always more and stronger enemies, but the level design is stale and uninteresting.

Technically, the game is correct for its age. Not many bugs, everything works as intended. Visually though, it got very old already and I think that even for its time, it was not a reference in terms of textures and visual effects. Same applies for the sound quality, you are miles away from what a AAA FPS has to offer. Directional/surround sounds are often poorly executed and misleading.

In terms of gameplay and content, the game is not that rich either, there are not that many weapons and their handling feels cheap. The game is not very long but considered the limited variety it contains, that is a good thing.

Wolfenstein The New Order attracted me for its setting, its context, and for that I wasn’t disappointed, and sometimes even positively surprised. But for the rest, the game is too fade and doesn’t compete with other better FPSs (even if a good FPS is not that easy to find anymore).

    - Stealth mechanics are simple but they work well enough
    - Colorful cast of characters but they aren’t nearly developed enough to make the player invested in their fates

    Bad:
    - Heavily armored enemies are nothing but bullet sponges and fighting against them is more of a chore rather than difficult and rewarding challenges
    - The story wasn't as dramatic and explosive as it should have been
    - Pacing problems with the story
    - Huge technical problems throughout; falling through the world, crashes, AI freaking out on more than one occasion, etc.
    - On the default settings, melee shares the same button as knife throw, which leads to a lot of accidental actions

argumento antinazi absurdo, gráficos justitos, sonido malo
lo mejor son las zonas de sigilo, y en ellas puedes matar a alguien delante de otro que la IA es retrasada y ni se entera

Honestly can’t go wrong with a world war 2 alternate history idea, it can be serious at times and fun in others. My biggest issue falls with game play, there is no consistency on difficulty and aiming on console can be weird and clunky. It also has the major sin in shooters where the only difficulty is spawning enemies behind you or heavies flooding the map. The story in the game was very poor. The gameplay was passable with nothing else sticking out. The characters are full and the OST is average. The only praise I can give to it is that the port is good

Very good FPS game with a great campaign and some really pulse pounding moments. The story is fun in a very uncomplicated way but perhaps a bit overrated with the way folks talk about it. Still great game with many very memorable set pieces and shooting galleries.

MachineGames haven’t exactly reinvented the FPS or even Wolfenstein here, but they have put together a consistently enjoyable, well-crafted action game and given you the motivation to blast your way through its stringier bits. If this is the New Order for Wolfenstein, then this is a promising start.

We would have preferred a greater freedom of action for the levels, rather than the linear and driven that we've found, but they are trifles for a title that deserves to be played at least once.
