Good game with a few story problems but it's still a fun game. The songs in the game are the worst part because there are like 2 songs I know in the whole game. The gun play is very good with quite a few guns to play with.

Amazing promises for a nice game.
The game isn't revolutionary as Ubisoft promised us, but it still a great game. The dissapointing came from the false marketing which showed amazing graphics and a live and bright Chicago. Actually, the game just have fine graphics and a superficial chicago. The point of this game is the multiplayer..

Mix, GTA + Hitman + Silent hill shattered memories cell phone= viola!!!! Watchdogs honestly not the best game ever, I think we should not let marketing get into our heads. Not Great Graphics not great Story plot, everything very standard. Gave it a 7 so I don't feel bad for the $60 I payed. Buy it 3 years from now when price is down to $15.

I was very excited to play this game because i love many ubisoft games (Farcry, Assassin´s Creed 4 and specially the Splinter Cell). In fact, Watch Dogs has some things of them, which i don't know that it is a good way to start a new IP. Despite it has unforgivable graphics problems there are no doubt that the world of WD is beautiful but sometimes its reality is damaged with the white contours to hack everything. Why doesn´t Ubisoft just put a little sign? Has to bold the entire structure? Like a bridge for example!!? And at night time in some hours i don´t like the colours too. Too saturated. The reflections of the windows are a truly disaster. Next gen graphics don´t even reflect the persons on the streets? And the buildings and other surroundings don't correspond simply. It´s a shame. Of course, the rain and reflections on the road are fantastic, the water effects are splendid, the lightning and crash/explosions are very very good, the cars, boats, motorcycles, ... are very well done (just need a more realistic destruction effect and better physic sometimes). Multiplayer is very good too, with fun and innovation. The graphics problems (i want to say again the graphics are good but with ridiculous bugs) and the obviously GTA 5 comparison relegate the Watch Dogs to second place (but far away) as an open world game. Rockstar has the advantage of experience and in fact GTA is a solid, polished and a final product, a culmination that is nearly perfection. Watch Dogs has potential but i´m a little concerned about creativity of Ubisoft in the hypothectical sequel.

Watch_Dogs plays like Assassin's Creed. Even much of the hacking just takes the place of pickpocketing. I'm playing on an Xbox 360 and I think the graphics look great. I can't wait to explore all of this virtual Chicago. Basically if you like the AC series, you'll probably like Watch_Dogs. If you prefer a little more energy and chaos, stick to GTA V.

Overall WD is a fun game. But despite its hype it isn’t an “open world” game. It’s a railroad shooter with some fun hacking thrown in and a big map. You can’t just walk into stores and steal or buy stuff. Most doors won’t open for you. And usually there’s only one way to complete objectives.

On the PC, the controls (especially for vehicles) are problematic. This is another game that was designed for consoles and the PC thrown in. That’s very clear, even from the start. Driving can be seriously frustrating. Example: the acceleration key (W); press it and the car floors forward. There is no speed control. Which makes turning at any speed, hard. No smooth driving at all. You will crash. A lot. Lucky for you the cars can take a serious beating. Oh and a tip: need to get away from any chase? Swim. Jump in the lake. About half way across whoever is chasing you will loose you. And that brings up the AI.

The AI is poor. Jumping in the lake is a good example. And it’s easy peasy to evade the cops. Cause, well they are stupid. Also random people in the streets will run just at the sight of you. Various things like that. This doesn’t make the game un-enjoyable just something I noticed.

Now you know, I wouldn’t mind the terrible driving controls that much if I wasn’t forced to drive. Certain missions require you to drive. Just like certain missions require you to stay in stealth. IMHO that is not an open world game. The objective should matter not how you got there. When evading, I should be able to duck into an apartment and try to hide (assuming I can deal with whoever is in the apartment). I mean, why can’t I take a train to evade cops (or whoever is chasing me)?

Anyway things like the above bother me. The devs promised much. I’d say they delivered about 2/3 of what they promised. I suppose all developers do that.

One thing I must mention – the graphics, while good, DO NOT look anything like the various E3 trailers (or trailers on the net. Not at all. I almost feel like I fell for a bait-n-switch. But I didn’t buy this game for the graphics. But I understand why certain folk are pissed about this. They should be.

One last thing – the story: it reminds me of ME3 - where the devs are obviously trying to force certain emotions on you. Since I never had a chance to even meet “the niece” I didn’t care about her. The forced dreams aren’t going to force me to care: [Guy robs people. Guy gets hacked. A hit gets ordered. Guy driving his niece later that evening. Gets attacked (the hit). Niece does.] And here you are. Out for revenge. Of course, it doesn’t matter that the hit was order because you were doing something you shouldn’t. It doesn’t matter that your niece dying is your fault. Actually that does matter. I haven’t finished the game, but I know enough of what went down that the later does matter; just not that enough for me to care.

But there are so many side missions that it’s easy to forget the main story. While I like the story, it’s standard shooter style, the side missions are what make this game.

In closing, overall the game is fun. Worth the $60 bucks I laid out? No. Worth $40 (in 3 months), YES.

The first thing I noticed when I launched WD was that cars does not behave like cars, they behave like horses, and I thought "Hey.. this just a reskin of Assassins Creed", So turn a second before you think you do or you're in for a crash; or twenty, every time you're going somewhere and don't forget about the otherworldly slides your car does after any turn. As your first observation that isn't really helpful when you want to enjoy a free roaming game.

It also has the same problem as AC with "rocks" and "other rocks that look exaclty the same as the first type of rock". Some rocks are fine to just run over, while some act as an invisible wall even though any human with legs could run over them in real life, and you can't get out of water unless there's something like a ladder or a ramp to get you out of it. At one point there was tires hung up on welding steel for boat hull protection at a dock where I had to go to hack a camera. Clearly an easy way up for any human in the world with arms, but not Aiden Pearce. So I had to swim to another dock to get a boat and THEN hack my way in from the deck of the boat, beacuse invisible walls prevented any attempts to walk onto the dock.

But enough of that, let us look at the game as a whole.

    Story:
...As the story goes on it gets better, I feel immersed, it's kinda funny and has some stellar dialogue. It has a lot of plot twists so it mixes things up. Maybe a bit too many twists but I can't complain really. But don't sit idle in the meny for to long because SPOILERS AHOY! stay too long and the coolest parts of ACT I is spoiled right before your eyes. (why would you do this, ubisoft?!!)

    PROGRESSION
As a comparison to AC4's progression; they did completely different now. If you do side missions and fluff in AC4 you get more powerful than the enemies in the Main Story Missions, but in WD they scale with you every step of the way. When I was in the early stages of ACT 2 I went up against componds of ONLY elite soldiers. ELITES. Are you **** kidding me? I can agree that they should be a bit harder when I have almost every weapon, vehicle, item, and skill unlocked, BUT it's still ACT 2 for **** sake. Someone who just likes exploring and is a casual/average gamer have no chance at that point.

    AI
The AI is decent but pretty **** wierd at times. People can see you through walls at times, which can be overlooked except for the fact that they also can shoot you through the wall. THE **** It isn't that bad really but can be frustrating when trying to be stealthy.

Convoys also appear a bit overhuman because they crash into civilian cars frequently but the second you nudge them a little they instantly scream "IT'S HIM" and try to kill you even though they should have no clue who the **** is driving that car. At one point I drove like a normal civilian in the opposite direction to get a better point of approach, and the car at the front of the convoy crammed between me and another car to get past a stop and as he nudged me on the side he instantly knew it was me in that car; making the convoy panic. WHAT. He ran into me for **** sake. I didn't do **** to show I was on the aggresion or anything.

Another point on how AI driving is how they say over the radio "I'm gonna ram him", and then never even try to ram me. I've never been rammed. They grace me a little on the side, sometimes trying to push me to the curb but thats it. Also, when I slow down, or they slow me down, they all stop and jump out of their cars even though I have made no intention of stopping. At least pin me down before abandoning your vehicles.

To test the spawning I ran up a tower like structure with one way in and out, just trying to have some fun shooting cars with The Destroyer (Sniper that can one-shot vehicles). The police was after me pretty soon and i just kept shooting their cars but they were too many and I didn't want to hurt my reputation too badly. They rushed me so I tried to make my escape upwards the structure where it should be clear because there's only one way up, and that's when I saw that the engine had spawned a couple cops behind me and I got shot to death.

Watch Dogs is a game that carries a lot of hype about being a true next gen game for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. I feel it's nearly impossible for anything to live up to the level of hype this game received. It is my intention to review this title fairly without any level of hype or hatred for this game as I never got in to the hype and I do not hate Watch Dogs.

The narrative in Watch Dogs showed promise at first but quickly starts to fall apart and not just due to the cliche vigilante revenge story. Certain narrative decisions make it little to hard to believe that anyone would make that decision and Intelligent characters start acting irrationally at almost the on set of the Pearce family saga and many players will put together the entire story line about halfway through. It's not that it isn't a fun story, it's just painfully obvious.

A game I originally thought to have more in common with Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs is in every way an open world game in line with Grand Theft Auto and like GTA it falls victim to some of the common issues in almost all open world games. While it is obvious the game is also running on some last gen tech, I do not count off for that due to that being something of the norm at the moment, but we need to move passed this phase. Even with that said graphically I feel that it is a mixed bag. The game looks simply amazing at times, only to fall off at others. I perfect example of this is how almost every character outside of Aiden and Clara looks in game. Nicole & Jackson Pearce look like they had been ripped straight from Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood graphically and placed in a game with a next gen version of Aiden and that not even getting in to how other non-important characters look far worse.

The city is very hit and miss as well, I am not 100% certain what version of Chicago this is but it isn't remotely close to the one I have visited. Look I am not saying we need this 1:1 ratio of the city, but things should at least be close. Chicago is graphically inconsistent as well. It has some real beauty at times then the quality suddenly drops to muddy/blurry textures and bad aliasing. I am a bit concerned about the lighting and shadows in the game outside of direct sunlight as many of the lights at night do not cast shadows. That said I think the game looks astonishing at night when it's wet from rain and no visible light source around, but that in itself is the problem as they are covering up their faults by adding a layer of water to a darker landscape. Reflections in this game are rarely ever even used and in almost every event they are faked out to try to add to the realism, the issue I take with this is that the reflections are almost 100% of the time not even close to accurate. You might be standing on a rooftop looking at a window of an intersection when in reality it is a city skyline. I have found myself on street level staring in to a building that shows a road running right through the city and in to the building I am looking at, I then turn around and find river and a bridge.

While the game is set at 30fps it has some frame rate issues on the PlayStation 4 (900p) and the Xbox One (792p). The drops are not considerable enough to cause a panic but should be noted after the game was delayed to correct issues like this.

The game controls well and has some good mechanics with the hacking but lacks any real combat. Melee combat is really non-existent outside of the a quicktime style take down and shooting is a very basic version of the mechanics found in Splinter Cell: Blacklist. It just always feels so subpar in combat driving scenarios. That leads to another issue, for a game that tries to allow the player so many options to achieve their goals the game tends to fall back on one of two things, firefights and car chases. Hacking was suppose to be the thing that makes it stand out, but then it falls back to being GTA kill everyone or escape and the hacking is a minute tool used to change traffic lights or raise barricades / bridges. most of the time it's not even needed as you can get away with little no no effort (until much later in the game). While on driving, the driving in this game takes the poor controls of cars in every other open world game and decreases handling to make them that much more of a chore. Motorcycles are almost flawless so I highly recommend using those or the special stealth car unlocked in 'uplay'.

The multi-player is unique and feels genuine, but is basically a trolling simulator The main quest will take one to two days to complete and the game offers enough side missions to make any 80 hour players scream with joy. The issue with those side activities is that once again like most open world games, they are very repetitive and lack any real diversity. Overall I think Watch Dogs is a solid game that everyone owes it to themselves to try, I feel that it is a very strong rental but not worthy of purchase

Did you like Grand Theft Auto? Or Infamous 1&2? If so, this game should feel very familiar to you. The whole time I played Watch Dogs, it reminded me of a mix between GTA and Infamous, with the ability to hack into your surrounds. This wasn't a problem for me, as I love both of these franchises, but overall the game just felt very familiar.

Well, here are the things Watch Dogs does right. The world is huge, it looks beautiful (on next gen), controls and gameplay are really smooth, and the hacking feels really satisfying, apart from the mini-games used in most story missions. Some would still say that would make this game an overall 5, but there are some negatives of the game I'm willing to let go, mainly the bugs that pop up every now and then. Let me start with pointing out the good things. What caught my attention first - the game has fantastic soundtrack from the very start, it fits the atmosphere perfectly. Then there's the whole hacking part - the main reason I would play Watch Dogs over GTA V any day - it makes a gameplay more varied and adds that little something to the story. The game's open world is beautiful, and it's rather massive - though frustrating at times. Also I'd like to point out the variety and scale of side quests, in-game as well as online - they definitely keep you busy along the main quest.
For the not-so-good side of the game... My main complaints are the story and the protagonist. The story looked very promising in the beginning, but somewhere very soon it melted down to the usual "someone offended the good guy-now good guy kills everyone" storyline - and that's connected to the other thing I hated about the game - it has to have the most boring protagonist I've seen in a very long while; after the second half of the game I kept playing basically to know what happens with side characters who were a lot more interesting than the protagonist himself.
Also at times the game reminded me of GTA so much, I wondered how Ubisoft hasn't been sued yet.

So, I'd say Watch Dogs is a decent game, it can keep you entertained for a while, although be warned not to put your hopes too high up with this one.

Have it for ps4 and just beat it. its real score is a 78 out of 100 and not 7 out of 10 from me.This game is quite fun and more strategy than over the top destruction. It has a good story, but the downside to it is there isn't enough dialogue and development between Pierce and all of the other characters (face to face interaction) to gain a real sense of attachment to them. They needed more cut-scenes for the main story to develop the interaction between Pierce and the rest. Also the side quests, although entertaining, need some increased development and actual cut-scenes . The killer of all those people that left dead body's in bags for me to find ended up just being like any other crime prevention side quest. In other words, the plot in both the main and side stories needed to bring more to the game. The side stories especially needed more pow, They were very anti-climatic . Multiplayer is fun, but needs to be stabilized a bit for the 3-8 matches and racing. Too many complaints about this game, but I don't have any glitches going on in my game whatsoever aside from the 3-8 multiplayer. Graphics are nice, but they downscaled probably because it was originally a lot more massive a file like shadow fall. Anyways, good game, but underdeveloped content. Not for everyones enjoyment. Watch Dogs has a plentiful supply of action and also has an enjoyable amount of stealth, as you can easily get out of harms way if you are not a stealth oriented person thanks to the fluid movement and shooting mechanics. Throughout the game are random encounters with criminal activity and other side missions were you must stop the criminals either by lethal or non lethal means, this choice allows you to choose if you want to be a hated vigilante or a praised batman like vigilante. Hacking which plays a big role in the game is just as fun as blowing someones head off with a shotgun in game, hacking through your mobile phone is as easy as it is customizable, the fluid camera to camera movement allows you to see the entire battlefield and manipulate anything with a wifi connection to kill enemies and move things to better afford movement. The driving and hacking makes running from the otherwise difficult police a breeze as you can manipulate almost anything on and off the road to accompany your escape.

There are some faults to the game though, even minor as they are they can still get on your nerves. If you go into watch dogs expecting GTA esque car driving and shooting you will be disappointed as the driving is more like the driving you get from sleeping dogs and you are not able to shoot from your car. The apparel customization while fun and colourful is beaten down by the fact that you can not preview the expensive clothing before you buy it. There is very little gun customization which is odd for a game with so many firearms in it, an example being the only way to customize your gun is to unlock the same one with a silencer of other attachment through uplay (which you must connect to if you would like to unlock any of the cool things it has.)

The online portion of the game borders on fun and annoying as you can jump into anyones game without them knowing and chase them around stealing their money. On the other hand people can jump into your game without you knowing and steal your money, while fun at times the amount of people joining your game in a day can get really annoying.

In short Watch Dogs is a great game that has some minor annoyances that add up to a single issue, the game could have been refined into a more seamless game earning it a 7 out of ten from me.

The hacking route requires no strategy though, it basically just takes the "enemies hiding behind explosive barrels" thing and replaces it with "enemies hiding behind HACKABLE explosive barrels".

That being said, it was still fairly enjoyable and I don't regret my purchase. I think that the framework has been laid for a great sequel. If you're looking into getting it I would recommend waiting for a price drop at the very least.

Story:Also some lost potential here with a short story and a sequel bait ending but I enjoy it at some points the story will take you about 8 hours to finish it.

Graphics:We expected better graphics in this game but they are not that great but still they are not bad.

Notes:The open-world do not look very alive and the side mission at the start they were fun but they end up very repetitive. There are lot of guns in this game which I liked also there are a lot of different outfits. Some uninteresting characters in the game and a lot of missed opportunities at hacking hold this game back from what it was suppose to be but at the end it was a good game just that nothing more nothing less I think you should wait for a price drop before you buy it.

I like this game. It's not going to be a GOTY but it's pretty good. Though it ain't worth $60. Hell no. There isn't enough hours you can spend on this game for it to be worth $60. $40 yeah. If you see this game new (or used) for $34.99, buy it. If it's $60 or more, don't bother.

    UBISOFT: PLEASE FIX

When I am playing Online Contracts and I "lose connection" or my opponent quits during a match on any of the 4 options of online contracts, I still lose notoriety points, this is especially a pain on tailing and hacking when I lose upwards of 170 points

It would be a great help if this could get fixed, thanks

Watch Dogs was a game surrounded with alot of hype, and a lot of potential. I personally was disappointed at Watch Dogs dry story and boring characters. The story takes so many unnecessary turns that just seem boring or uninteresting. The game play mechanics though are very fun at times but can feel very linear instead of the "choose your game play style" we were promised. Some story aspects seemed rushed and at point I was scratching my head saying "WHAT?!" . The NPC randomly generated personality gave life to the random nobodies we are so used to seeing in open worlds. The side missions can be ignored as they do not really add to anything and will most likely end with you scratching your head saying "What was the point of all this?". The multiplayer on the other hand was a nice refreshing play style of cat and mouse with the addition of hacking. Without giving away the story, I will say Watch Dogs is worth the buy if you enjoy fun open world gameplay with a neat multiplayer and are ok with a story that you can pay less attention to, then Watch Dogs is a game I recommend with a rating of 7/10. A boring over all story, over hyped game with a pc graphical downgrade but fun gameplay and multiplayer. Expand

Played this game recently having relatively low expectations after everything I read, first things first: this game is not the steaming pile of garbage that many of these reviews made it seem like. Not by a long shot, actually.

It's actually fun to roam around Chicago, there are plenty of activities to try, and gameplay is pretty solid. Sure, the whole hacking stuff boils down to pressing and holding a button, not as deep or complex as we thought, but it's quite fun to mess with traffic lights, gates, bridges or steam pipes during a chase to lose your pursuers, complete blackouts are also pretty awesome.

That being said, the story is just alright and that has a lot to do with Aiden being such a flat and uninteresting protagonist, it's just hard to care about what's going on with him. Supporting characters like Jordi and Clara definitely had potential but you don't even spend enough time with them to care about stuff that happens later in the game. Side missions can be fun but some of them quickly get repetitive as they offer little variation. This game was definitely overhyped and Ubi failed to deliver in some aspects, but I still had a good time playing it and don't think it deserved all the hate and low scores it received.

Downgraded from the first trailer, graphicaly and in terms of gameplay. Only good invention is hacking. The rest of game is mix of grand theft auto and assassin's creed.

It is fun game with good missions better than Far Cry 4 and Infamous SS

The free roam aspects of the game is fun but if you are looking for a free roam game stick to gta. If you don't care about graphics then I do advise you to buy this game after a price reduction. Watch Dogs is a rather ambitious attempt to rival Rockstar's smash-hit, Grand Theft Auto. While Watch Dogs presents a unique experience that is very polished and well presented, many fans of the GTA series will find that Watch Dogs falls shorts of expectations to improve upon the GTA series as a sandbox game. However, after playing several hours of Watch Dogs, the new IP from Ubisoft Montreal impressively stands as a new series that I am excited to see develop throughout the new generation of gaming. Fans of the GTA series who are expecting Watch Dogs to be a successor or clone to GTA will surely be disappointed in some regards to the overall presentation of Watch Dogs. However, those who will approach Watch Dogs with an open-mind and as a unique experience will be pleasantly surprised with the development that Ubisoft Montreal has put into Watch Dogs.

As is expected, Ubisoft Montreal has developed Watch Dogs using many lessons learned throughout the development of the AC series. Watch Dogs borrows on many of the exploration and map completion that became popular with the AC series, and players will find themselves traversing Chicago in a wide variety of ways to stop randomly occurring crimes, steal cars, hack control terminals and break up gang hideouts. In addition to the wide variety of side quests and missions which will constantly occupy your time, the main campaign of Watch Dogs is rather compelling and provides challenge where other series have utterly failed. Watch Dogs puts you in the role of a realistic character, with realistic goals, and realistic tools. Where competitors such as GTA provide an experience that is exceptional in regards to sandbox play, Watch Dogs provides a unique and immersive experience that is sure to excite fans of the Assassin's Creed series.

Simply put, Watch Dogs is not a ground breaking title and is surely not a clone of GTA as some reviewers would have you believe. Watch Dogs provides a compelling experience for those who are fans of both GTA and Assassin's Creed. Approach Watch Dogs with an open-mind and you will find that you are pleasantly surprised by the variety this new IP has to offer. This game is a must have for anyone who wants to see the benchmark for new IPs in 2014 / 2015.

Watchdogs isn't a **** game. It really isn't. A better term would be a mediocre game. A fun, but nevertheless a mediocre game. The graphics in ps4 is decent but it looks horrific on ps3.( Nothing to do with frame-rates, just doesn't look that great.) The environment breaks extremely easily with the smallest touch from your car and the driving mechanics take some getting used to. The copWatchdogs isn't a **** game. It really isn't. The cop sequences try to catch the gta lightning in the bottle but they're not quite there yet. (You can be in a shootout with cops, take cover and just do nothing and they will not respond in anyway whatsoever until you get out of cover.) The story is bland and does not even COMPARE to GTA 5's story, and to be honest it's kind of Aiden's fault why his family is so screwed over. Overall, Watchdog's feels like Ubisoft's emulation of GTA, except with hacking. (The only thing I don't have complaints on.) Some may say that games like Watchdogs and Destiny just had too much hype for their own good and while that may be true, Ubisoft has some fault for downgrading graphics and encouraging the post-release hype to ridiculous amounts. Game Devs should stop doing that. Watchdogs is a fun, but mediocre game and you should buy it after the price drops. ($30 would be a reasonable deal.) Expand

Picked this up for £20 - it was a great buy. I enjoyed this game but there wasn't that much content and too many things that seemed rushed, like no water spray when you drive over water!!!

Watch Dogs is a fun open world experience. However, the repetitive chases and the formulaic gameplay tend to get tedious and boring after a while. As such, you might want to enjoy the different multiplayer experiences and take frequent breaks to just roam around the city.

It’s a bold first step on the new terrain for Ubisoft. The game is enjoyable, offers some interesting mechanics and lasts for long enough, but is bland as a whole. The characters lack personalities, the city could use more distinctness and the story is instantly forgettable. [07/2014, p.46]

Overall, it is almost without a doubt the best platformer that has popped up on the current generation of consoles and is a bedrock on which Ubisoft could build a brand to remember.
