Multiplayer is an amazing trip in itself as well and how seamlessly you can go from single player to Multiplayer is amazing. I believe a lot of people want to compare this to Grand Theft Auto which is ridiculous, yes, they are similar in nature but when it comes down to it they are entirely different. This game is a must play, has great weapons, missions and the hacking system is pretty darn fun especially when used to disarm police or enemy pursuers. Well worth the money to buy this game! Expand

Great game, not good as GTA but is so amazing. In the modern uber-connected world, Chicago maintains the nation's most advanced and integrated computer system – one which controls almost every facet of city technology and maintains critical information on all of the city's residents.

This game is far not so bad as you can read about it. I play on PS4 and most of haters, as I see, came from PC. They blame it for: a) bugs; b) not E3 graphics; с) not GTA V; d) high price. Concerning the GTA V comparison I can say that the open world of Watch Dogs seems to me more alive since you can know everything about passers-by, listen their phone talks, and so on. I feel myself deeply involved in the life on screen and it is amazing feeling. The story is not obsessive, and you can play it at your own pace. Gameplay is rather various and you can choose more action or more puzzles. No doubt this game worth 8 points from professional critics. But I give it 10 to balance all that unfair hate. Expand

If today in 2020, look at what Watch dogs has become, then the first part is simply a masterpiece. Her Noir is very much needed today. Instead, we have a masquerade party and hipsters. The amount of effort put in this game is phenomenal. Vehicles feel more realistic while driving. If you're seen as a terrorist in your reputation, people call the cops when they recognize you or when you shoot a gun in public. And the story? Amazing! Although I didn't get emotional during the mission where your family has to go somewhere safe, but I just didn't want to see them go. Character development is also really good. When Clara died, you wanted to kill the hit men badly, jut wanted immediate revenge. Overall, this game is a big slap in the face, but still a good game. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My favorite WD game mainly cuz of climat and story. I loved the story because it is so immersive - a men who will do anything to protect his family, himself, world and people who he cares about. When it comes to the end it's really breathtaking, you're sad and mad at once. In WD's Chicago we can see begging of cyberpunk climat, most of people are poor and the rich corporations as Blume is taking over the city with ctOs. Graphics are becoming a little out dated but it still looks good and mechanics are way more limited than in new WD's but it let's you get into the world, because a hacker like aiden who is a guy who just passes can make little but meaning things with his phone. Gameplay is a clearly see oldie especially shooting and driving but it is okay. I loved the free-roaming and just watch what pedestrians do and search for the missing music for a platinum achievement. Some may call it boring and not fun in a game of hackers but I call it a game life, just chill and wait for someone to hack you, find him and kick his ass. Expand

Great game and a lot of fun. Didn't live up to the hype, but how many games do? Its a a fun open world game that isnt as generic as GTA but is still held back by being cross generation. Too bad it wasn't built only with the current gen consoles in mine. So much potential to build on for the future

There have been a few patches now and i have encountered no glitches, the game runs perfectly. The graphics are great even though they have been lowered since the initial game-play videos and the game-play itself is mostly fun. Although the driving is rubbish. The characters aren't that bad, but they aren't the best ever.

Just like the Assassins Creed games there is plenty of extra stuff to do other than the story and unlike the Assassins Creed games it's ALL fun to do, no stupid money chests or fragments for me.

Basically the game is fun, runs well, looks good, has a good soundtrack and has loads to do so it's worth the money. It's also different, the hacking mechanic is fun and it's hilarious mucking around distracting/blowing up enemies. The free running is also pretty cool

Doesn't get a 10 because the main character is unoriginal and the driving is pants. Having said that the driving can be mastered and therefore ignored and the character doesn't matter so much, when you are in such a great open world. Also you can check into famous Chicago land marks, learn about them and get gifts left by other players which is a genius idea.

    So yeah...buy it!

Wow, you can really see the development path the game took, it plays like someone put AC1 on top of a GTA game.

The important part is that its fun and original. That makes it better than COD 30-some or AC 4 in my book.

All these bad reviews are hilarious, people claiming to be dissapointed from what they saw at E3. THe graphics in this game are great, and the game is exactly as advertised, AWESOME.

The multiplayer is a breath of fresh air, very fun. The story is decent, a fairly average revenge tail but the gameplay and all the side activities are greatly done.

Watch Dogs seems to take the best of GTA (strong and thriving open world, with decent NPCs, driving and missions/side missions, humour ), and Assassin's Creed (freerunning, hidden codes revealing more about the plot, a decent story) but adds a plot that really nails the current events surrounding NSA, spying, corruption, technology, whistleblowing and consequences.

In terms of story, I really dug every mission and plot point, far more than I ever have with a GTA game (I am a huge fan of GTA, but I know story isn't it's strongest point) the characters seemed interesting and I really connected with the main character which is definitely something GTA fails to achieve.

In terms of Gameplay, Watch Dogs is exciting, fun and hard to put down once you get started.
Not only is the hacking an interesting and enjoyable mechanic, but it adds such a deep layer of depth to the gameplay that it allows any player to play in any method he wishes. Want to gun everybody down ala GTA? Go Ahead. Want to stealth it and sneak around buildings via hacking and disable foes remotely? Sure, why not.

Any time I replayed a mission, or did one of the repetitive side missions, I had a blast, because no quest was the same. Even replaying the exact same side missions results in different enemies, some can be interacted with and some can't always in different ways.

I am far more likely to replay the story of Watchdogs over a game like GTA. I really look forward to a sequel, and hope Ubisoft ignores the haters, and it has fans.

I have to start by saying that I haven't liked a game from Ubisoft since FarCry 3 and before that it was AC2, so as you can see Ubisoft and I don't always get along. This game provides a lot of really good gameplay aspects which is REALLY what matters unlike those disappointed by the graphics which I can understand considering that it doesn't look as good as the E3 2012 demo. But those saying the graphics suck are **** idiots. The graphics are about as good as AC:BF on the PS4 which looked pretty damn good as well. So all of those little kids **** about the presentation should be ignored seriously. I never do reviews but seeing how some people were scoring this game I just had to. Those of you giving this game a "0" don't **** know what a "0" IS. Go play Mindjack or maybe even Brink during launch week. Then go play Watch Dogs. You'll be crying tears of joy. Also DO NOT go into this game comparing it to GTA. That's not what it is or what it is trying to be. Just go into it with an open mind and enjoy and play what it has to offer. It is a new IP no new IP's are perfect. Basically what this is going to come down is if you were thinking of buying this game then DO IT. Watch Dogs is an incredibly deep game. I've played about 20 hours so far and have played far enough into the story to get a little feel for it, but barely scratched it because there is always a distraction to take you away from the main story in Chicago. The first night I had Watch Dogs I wandered across a Coffee Shop with a chess game that was set up as puzzles to take the opponents men out in 14 moves or less (basically taking a chess piece out every move). I figured the first three puzzles out fairly quickly. Then ran into trouble with the fourth one. My solution? Grab my chess board and set it up in front of me and work through the puzzle in front of me on my board. I spent 10 hours doing this solving 10 chess puzzles. Did it get me much in the game? Nope. Just some XP, completion points, and the satisfactory feeling of solving them. My point is this: The game successfully drew me away from the main story for 10 solid hours perfectly solving 10 silly chess puzzles. There all sorts of stuff like this in the game. And, for the MP in you, there is a little MP aspect with online hacking. Its a small diversion but its there for you, if that's your bag. And you're rewarded in Notoriety Skill points for completing these tasks, which helps you in the game.

Watch Dogs, by far, isn't perfect. It's not Pulitzer Prize writing. I don't expect that from my games though. If you are looking for a very very solid game that will give you a great story with a great time sink in diversions while you are waiting for "Name your game here" in August (or later), then Watch Dogs will give you easily a 100 hours of gaming. Watch Dogs is everything a game should be. It is fun. It isn't tedious, and after you've been playing you wonder how the hell 2 or 3 hours could've gone that far. For the money you will spend, you will be justly rewarded, plus some.

I HIGHLY suggest getting this as a buy.

The low review scores by people here I guess are because they feel misled by the original trailer. I have the PS4 version and it definitely does not look as good as that trailer, but it's not far off. The over-the-top high graphic trailer was most likely on a maxed out pc anyway. No, all these features are better in GTA V. Is it as fun as GTA V? Yes. This is Ubisoft's first foray into a modern open world on the scale of GTA IV / V and it's an admirable first step. The gun controls could be tighter - the game should have an auto-aim system with soft lock-on as with GTA V, but the existing controls are certainly decent, and when bullet time is enabled it does auto-lock onto heads when you aim close to them. The car controls are a let down but nowhere near as bad as some reviews claim; the first car you drive in the game at the end of the beginning tutorial sequence drives horribly, but immediately afterwards you can "call in" a car of your choice, and most handle much better. High-speed car chases require you to brake a bit instead of drifting round corners due to the heavy vehicle handling, but that's fine once you accept it's necessary. The joy of this game comes from the still-very-capable gunplay, gameplay, hacking, and a world as alive as GTA's - maybe not quite as many intriguing landmarks, but awesomely detailed, great people animations, and tons of mini-games and sidequests. The hacking is a brilliant mechanism: jump from camera to camera hacking people/devices along the way, jump to a security guard's helmet camera and see what he's seeing, wait for him to inspect a control panel then hack it to explode it and take him out. Very cool. All in all this game is brilliant fun, has loads of content, and is worth your money despite its gun/car play inferiority to GTA V. Expand

The story is consistently interesting and never really has a dull moment, you will be asking yourself the questions "who?" and "why?" all the way up until those final credits roll! The only thing that took me out of the experience was the steep learning curve when it came to the driving, at first it feels very unresponsive which isn't very fitting seeing as they make Aiden out to be "the best driver in Chicago". However, you will quickly learn to maneuver with skill while driving and this is what bring me to my favorite part of Watch Dogs! You constantly feel yourself getting better! After every mission you complete you will feel yourself becoming a faster hacker, a better shot or just more smooth operator! The city is very atmospheric - with a good set of speakers/headphones you can be totally sucked in, just like I used to be with GTA 4. Compared to GTA 5, the map is definitely smaller but there are more details within the space that exists, and where GTA 5 felt super open and kind of harmless, every corner of Watch Dogs' Chicago feels tight, unique and hostile.

The profiler (phone hacking tool) is incredible, not for its concept but for its implementation and its development. You can not only see a tidbit of who the people are about you, but you can listen in on conversations, download the music they're listening to for your own enjoyment in-car, and deplete their bank accounts for your usage. In the world, you can burst drain pipes, force street lights to change, and control the city in other various ways. The city feels alive when you play it, and you feel in control.

That said, it is challenging. The police are tough. The missions (so far) feel very fair and balanced - stealth is definitely the most challenging way to play but also the most rewarding.

There are some flaws, the most notable being the car physics. It's weird, and not predictable. After a while you start getting used to it, and there's a clear variation between different cars within this physics system (which is commendable), but the system itself is weird. With practice, you could get used to it. Also Aiden Pearce, our protagonist, is completely devoid of any personality so far, which is a shame given the events in the story that have transpired so far. Luckily, the two side characters that he has interacted with so far are full personalities.

The most obvious game to compare this to is GTA 5. However, this feels far more cinematic and has its own narrative. I would perhaps compare this more to GTA 4. More intimate settings and a single protagonist. So far, it matches up unbelievably well. The fact that I'm even comparing it to GTA 4 and 5 is praise enough to just how good this game is.

I can't wait to play more.

I'm sure you're all familiar with the setting, story and general premise of Watch Dogs so I'll get right to the nitty-gritty. The game looks pretty decent and performs well on the PS4 at 900p and 30fps. Some of the textures maybe lacking but this clearly wasn't going to be on par with what was seen at E3 2012. The weather effects are brilliant though along with the lighting.

The mechanics and interface of Aiden are very easy to get to grips with. The controls are simple but well laid out and the cover system along with movement is solid. However, the driving is extremely poor. Cars bounce off other cars in a comical and arcade fashion. The accelerating and braking feels like the semi-serious Saints Row and you also can't use guns from your car so chases are very dissatisfying with you ping-ponging off the other cars and scenery. This is a major letdown considering how important driving is in this open world game. The cars handle reasonably around corners but the driving elements just feel sloppy and woefully implemented.

The story is long and very interesting and is extremely well presented with an array of characters and settings. As the game progresses; you can unlock skills from the in-depth skill tree to improve Aiden. Skill points can be earned by completing side missions and overall performance in the campaign. There is tonnes to unlock and plenty to get your teeth into.

Overall, Watch Dogs is a great game but the driving mechanics could be unforgivable for some. It's a game that is smartly designed and incredibly atmospheric but discredited by the driving. If you're looking for a thrilling story and a game that's unfamiliar with a fresh IP; it maybe worth overlooking the negatives just for this alone.

It is extremely reflective of GTA, so if you're looking for a 100% fresh idea, look elsewhere. It follows the general stories, missions, shops, mini-games, and side missions. This version of an old favorite feels invigorated, however. Driving is more free range, as certain free-standing obstacles don't get in your way as much as GTA's small barriers into parks, gates, traffic light poles, etc. did.

Stealth also plays a big part into invading enemy camps. You have a telescoping baton for performing silent takedowns, and can use cellular signals to set off explosions, or perhaps get a nearby guard to check his phone while you go in for the kill, so to speak.

Roaming around on foot is a lot more fun, thanks to a short profile of every citizen you pass. Running can be done infinitely right from the start, so that's refreshing. YOU CANNOT DIRECTLY JUMP in this game, but rather climb well onto platforms and obstacles. Cash Run is a fun mini-game to play with this scheme, as you collect 8-bit coins and dodge the skulls through the landscape of the city.

The Landscape. Being that I'm B&R in the Chicagoland area and live in the city currently, I had high hopes, as I've been waiting for the Chicago GTA since Vice City. To an outsider, it artistically has many layers between the trees and the buildings. It's a beautiful, fluid city that provides obstacles, but doesn't get in the way, as the traffic of a real Chicago would make for a pretty huge annoyance as a gaming experience.

With the hype around the PS4 being a gaming marvel and personally being very impressed with the console, I was initially hoping to be able to find the in-game location of where I, as an actual person, live in Chicago, as it's close to the Loop. Instead, they have captured the Loop in grand fashion. I came off of a L train and saw the detailed sign for the Adams/Wabash stop, as I marveled at how accurately it looks to being there. The layout is more of a map featuring different sections of Chicago Neighborhoods. The game has changed names and locations, but I felt as if I was walking through places like Logan Square and Millenium Park, as I has a midnight meeting at the famous bean.

In summation, as a gamer and a Chicagoan, I highly recommend giving this a play.

This is a really fun game. An open-world sandbox with an added element of open-world elements through the hacking mechanism, which I must admit is far more fluid than I had anticipated. I will take off a point though because there's no driveable helicopters or aircrafts in general, which feels sort of limiting at times. It does make sense too however with how some parts of the game are structured, if you could just fly you wouldn't bother to solve half the puzzles within the game that require you to vault around, especially the CTOS Towers.
There are plenty of weapons, all fit nicely on a radial wheel and are categorized with added secondaries like frags and IEDs. You can craft on the go anytime which is also nice, though unrealistic. But for the sake of convenience and gaming-practicality, its a good mechanism that shouldn't and doesn't conform to reality.
The campaign is very lengthy and nice with lots of drama, tragedy, etc and there are also plenty of optional side activities that are not necessary but are rewarding. I got this game the day after release date, and I'm still having fun playing it. Also there is a season pass I did not get yet, but I'm sure that adds even more to the content. I did get it on the PS4 however so I did get some bonus missions which were quite fun too. There's also a great variety of online segments to even further the amount of fun you can have and adds a level of competitive play.

To me, it was a great game, and worth every dollar I spent on it. With a somewhat small library of games to choose from for the PS4 atm, this stands tall with giants like Infamous SS as one of the best available titles right now on the new system. I'm sure that holds true for the XB1 too atm

Watch Dogs' missions are very challenging yet fun, the graphics and performance of the PS4 version are fantastic. The gameplay is solid, my only complaint is that driving could have been worked on a bit more. Overall its a fantastic game and a must buy for all PS4 owners.

Watch Dogs, brought to us by Ubisoft, is an open world adventure set in Chicago. After being delayed for what felt like forever, I finally got to experience all the hype. And it was well worth the wait.

Story: You play as Aiden Pierce, a hacker who is dealing with the tragic loss of his family and is seeking justice for those responsible. Your biggest weapon, the city itself. Chicago is connected to a network called ctOS and everything connected to that network can be used for your own desires. From traffic lights to individual cell phones, you are able to hack them for personal gain ($$$) or to escape any heat that might be after you.

Gameplay: Think of GTA and you have Watch Dogs. It's a large, open map of Chicago and you can practically go wherever you want on foot or in a vehicle. Obviously, the only difference is the ability to hack anything that's connected to the ctOS. Also, you do have a reputation to uphold. Harming civilians hurts your reputation and if you are perceived negatively, the higher chance that if you commit a crime, someone will call the police on you. Whereas if you have a positive reputation, the higher chance civilians will turn their cheek. During missions, you also have the choice of going in guns a blazing style, or more stealth based. Both are fun in their own right but, I found myself going Solid Snake on more people than blowing them to pieces, as it's more satisfying sneaking up on unsuspecting enemies and beating them down with a police baton. Plus, you get more experience for doing so. (Who doesn't like more experience?) Which brings me to the other part that's different than GTA, the skill tree. By performing missions and vigilante contracts, you gain experience and you can use skill points to allocate towards improving your hacking ability, your gun ability, driving ability, and item creation ability. I recommend focusing on hacking cause the more you are able to hack, the easier it will be to escape the police or enemies chasing you as you will have more access to hackable things.

Combat: If you do find yourself in a firefight, you have a decent choice of weapons to choose from ranging from pistols to sniper rifles and things in between. Weapons are graded by stars and obviously, the more stars the weapon has, the better it is. Each weapon handles differently than another in that class so, it's fun to use each one and find one that suits you the best. I found myself using mostly silenced weapons as I mentioned previously, I enjoyed completing missions and contracts with stealth over explosions. It's third person so, gunplay is just like GTA but you have the ability to "Focus", which reminds me of bullet time from Max Payne. Time slows down for as long as you have Focus, which allows you to aim easier while in the heat of battle, or to make sniping targets easier. You can also use it while driving to help navigate some tricky roads if on the run or to make sure you hack a steam pipe behind you at the perfect timing to remove some pesky cops.

Driving: I found driving in Watch Dogs to be a little difficult to master at the beginning. Cars each react differently and more realistically so, unlike GTA where you could be driving an Astro van and have it handle like a Porsche, that isn't the case in Watch Dogs. Sports cars handle a lot better than your typical commuter cars but at the same time, I still feel like each car is a little sluggish and hard to master, like I previously stated. But with practice and time driving each type of car, you'll get the hang of it and will be flying through downtown as if you were Jimmie Johnson.

Voice Acting/Dialogue: I thought the voice acting was well done with all of the characters. Each felt unique and I felt like I could connect with them when a stressful situation was occurring or just during regular chatter. I found the dialogue in general to be well done as well as each conversation sounded well scripted and I found myself laughing during some of the humorous talks between random civilians or after hacking someone's computer.

Summary: Overall, I give Watch Dogs a 9/10. A brilliant, deep experience with plenty of things to do from stopping crimes to racing and everything in between. I enjoyed the story, even though many didn't find it that special, and thought it was gripping and found myself immersed in giving those responsible or just common criminals the right foot of justice. Probably some downsides was the fact that graphically, it wasn't as good as E3 showed it but it was still impressive and I wish there would have been some customization involving weapons but other than that, I don't really have any other complaints. If you haven't experience Watch Dogs yet and want to enjoy the feeling of being able to control a whole city at your fingertips, do yourself a favor and go to your local game shop and pick this up. You won't be disappointed.

The shooting is fun and the hacking is also fun, even though it is so simple. The driving in the game is hard at first, but can be quite fun after you get used to it. The graphics, of course, are not as great as E3s, but graphics don't make the game great, it just gives a little bit of sprinkles on a cake. The story is quite good, with a couple of plot twists, trust me, and the character is not generic and the story isn't only based around revenge. If you've actually played the game, you'd know.

Watch Dogs is a memorable experience, and I'm looking forward to what they do with the series.

This game is a revelation. Nothing like GTA, unless you play it like a too-bit criminal going all guns blazing (which the designers have given as an option to accommodate different user playing styles) there is way more subtlety to this game than just stealing a car and blowing stuff up. If played correctly you are taken into the world of hackers and basically being able to do whatever you want with the click of a smart phone.

The more you play the more you learn. The game is open world so it can be played at ones pace, do what you feel like whenever you feel like kind of feel. The game is packed full of mini games and side missions to keep you occupied, or you can simply roam the streets creating mayhem (without anyone knowing it's you). The main story is quite compelling and gives nothing away early on, longevity also excellent.

The graphics are excellent, although some people say they aren't (no idea why). Gameplay and overall feel to the game is very good including driving, free-running an shootouts. The game also has really addictive online features, facing off against other hackers to name just one.

Overall Watch Dogs is an excellent game. Different to all the norm free roaming games out there. People are disappointed with this game because it wasn't what they were expecting.......THAT'S THE IDEA! ITS DIFFERENT! A revelation compared to the majority of other YAWN roaming games.

Watch Dogs is a great game that has some great ideas like being able to hack into people's personal lives and even hack cameras to gain better vantage points. While the driving can be a little finicky at times, there is still plenty to enjoy with this game. Since there aren't many games for the new systems I would definitely recommend picking this one up.

Comparing Watch Dogs to GTA does a disservice to both games because they are not alike. The only way they are similar is they are both open world games set in an iconic city and you can drive around in it. Other than that, what Wacthdogs achieves stands out as its own game and it shows in every way. Of course going into WatchDogs feels completely different than a GTA experience. Other than that, what Wacthdogs achieves stands out as its own game and it shows in every way. Of course going into WatchDogs feels completely different than a GTA experience. Controls seem slower and refreshingly more deliberate. Aiden is slightly generic almost like batman without a suit [Vigilante]. The city is beautiful and graphics are great but could have been better had it not needed to pander to the last gen systems.

I haven't gotten too far into the game yet so I'm still getting use to it. Driving seems more realistic than GTA 5 although way more sensitive steering makes the jump from other driving games to WatchDogs difficult. Surprisingly when I opened the world map for the first time, I noticed how big Chicago is in this game. And honestly Chicago is refreshing, tired of LA and NY in video games already. the city does feel dense and killing a civilian feels heavier a choice than in GTA 5 for many reasons, and this is great for gameplay. The story is as you'd expect from Ubisoft, well voice acted and deeper than I expected.

Id say this game deserves 8.5/10 because it was hyped ALOT, and i feel like i've seen alot before actually playing. But because there are no decimals, ill have to rate it a 9/10 because 8 is far too low. Good graphics, story, progression, the controls are hard to get use to but they are right for the game. The only thing i don't really like is the close camera to Aiden. I feel like I want to adjust it further away.

Because of the hype, people were expecting the impossible. Once you really start playing and take your time to play the missions with thought, it is a great game with a deep sense of accomplishment for completing missions using stealth and precision.

The narrative is good, the gameplay is solid and the graphics are great. Sure the graphics were slightly downgraded from the trailers, but

The narrative is good, the gameplay is solid and the graphics are great. Sure the graphics were slightly downgraded from the trailers, but especially at night and in the rain, the game looks gorgeous.

My only gripe is that finding players online is too hard - I am presuming that the servers are under a lot of stress and can't quite handle the load. I hope this gets fixed, because I absolutely love it when somebody enters my game. I hope that over time there will be more multiplayer involvement.

With so little still to play on the PS4, Watch Dogs is definitely THE game to get at the moment. It will keep you hooked for a long time and it provides enough replayability for you to come back. The minigames are fun too, especially the spider tank is massively fun. Heck, it is the game to get on any platform at the moment.

Watch Dogs is a fun open world experience. However, the repetitive chases and the formulaic gameplay tend to get tedious and boring after a while. As such, you might want to enjoy the different multiplayer experiences and take frequent breaks to just roam around the city.

It’s a bold first step on the new terrain for Ubisoft. The game is enjoyable, offers some interesting mechanics and lasts for long enough, but is bland as a whole. The characters lack personalities, the city could use more distinctness and the story is instantly forgettable. [07/2014, p.46]

Overall, it is almost without a doubt the best platformer that has popped up on the current generation of consoles and is a bedrock on which Ubisoft could build a brand to remember.
