    It's a cookie-cutter game whose dark atmosphere drew me in. I think that it is a game that is not tiring and difficult, which I think will get positive feedback from people who have never met turn-based games in the process of getting used to this genre. The story was also very satisfying.

    Amazing game. Sucked me right in. I love all the dialogue choices and the game is so fun. So underrated. User reviews are pathetic. This game is easily an 8 or 9. Gave it a 10 to balance out the clueless other user scores.

    An engaging cRPG where the side-quests quests and gameplay carry a bland main story and limited customization all the way to the end. Ok roleplaying opportunities but missing a certain something.

    Great RPG game set within a post-apolyptic world in the US, heavily inspired by Fall Out New Vegas, the story is very straightforward but the gameplay is incredibly fun and complex, makes you really think about how to build your team in order to get the most out of every situation. The comedic and satirical aspects of this game are a nice touch.

    The impossibly bad AI means the game is extraordinarily easy on any difficulty, as enemies will never adapt to anything you do, or even attempt to avoid hazards. This applies to any friendly allies you have as well. This adds considerably to how boring the game is. You will quickly come to dread combat as any encounter is a slow slog as enemies quickly become heavily armored bullet sponges as a stand in for actual difficulty.

    I bought this game for under ten dollars on sale, and regret it. I should have purchased a nice sandwich instead. Do not buy this trash.

    The story has it's points, but the most dissapointing ending i've seen in a game. All of the enemies in the wasteland are crazy cults as well. There are no gray zones. Everyone is crazy. I found that to be really weak writing - everything just repeats itself with another crazy cult.

    As mentioned though the combat is addicting as hell, and deserves an 8-9 for sure, same with the humor and style. But overall this game would have needed more time in development to make it a great game, which is sad. Because I think it could have been really good if they worked more on the quests, the ending and released a game without major bugs.

It has so much depth and creative choices that I can assure you every playthrough will be completely different. I can’t get over on slept on this game is, and it’s miles better than Wasteland 2 in my opinion, which honestly I didn’t play too much of. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Even a year on, an abundance of bugs stops Wasteland 3 reaching its true potential but it’s humour and character cement it as one of the best RPG’s in recent memory. The world of wasteland is as exciting as it is unpredictable. One minute you can be helping a group of refugees survive the harsh conditions of post apocalyptic Colorado, the next you’re helping a Knight Rider - esque robot car find its purpose, or kidnapping an AI that believes itself to be ‘God-President Ronald Reagan’. But the world of wasteland 3 is most interesting in the way it changes around the players choices. The world and its characters change and evolve due to the decisions the player makes throughout the game and the repercussions of actions can be felt long into the games runtime. If I had one criticism of the RPG elements it’s that characters in wasteland acknowledge you as a team of people, and I think this lessens the role playing experience. For example, I had a marshal on my team who had a high kiss ass stat and would sweet talk people into doing what he wanted, but I also had a huge, strong, custom character who had high hard ass stat and would use threats to get people to act on his behalf. However due to being spoken to as a group rather than individuals, I couldn’t define the role of each character in the group. I think an improvement here would be to have whichever player who have selected be the person engaging in the dialogue. This way different characters could have different fame with each factions and you’d have to choose who you wanted to lead the conversation based on that. You could implement a mechanic to this where if someone on your team is hated by a faction, it begins to bring down the fame for other characters on your team. As I mentioned up top, this game is very buggy. I didn’t have any game breaking bugs or crashes but I had multiple main missions not complete after finishing them, and I often had team members get stuck in a room during combat, or end up miles behind the rest of the team, and sometimes I had team members leave the group permanently due to actions they didn’t agree with, despite the fact I was acting in line with their clearly defined morals. These bugs caused me to end up save scumming a lot by the end of the game, and I think if these issues were fixed this game would have the potential to go down as a classic. These issues don’t stop wasteland 3 being a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The writing is top notch, the tactical combat is fun to experiment with, and the world and characters make this game difficult to put down. If you’re a fan of the Fallout series this game will definitely have something for you. Expand

    Played on PS5 twice start to finish. Had several crashes, but like 10? Definitely not like "crashes every transition" type. Some logic bugs still present, but not game-breaking at all. Great sound score. Graphics is really dated, but you do not play this kind of game for pretty picture only. Story is cool with lots of replay value.

    Compared to W2 I liked this one much much better.

    The problem is, it rarely does.

    Never have I played a game so plagued by bugs and crashes. Not even extreme edge cases either, you can tell their QA either doesn't exist or should be fired.

    Among MANY others:
    - Party members that randomly leave you for nonsense reasons: I had 2 party members leave me because there was "too much human blood on my hands"...After I fought a pack of wolves;
    - You see a trap and tell your explosives expert to disarm it? He may randomly just feel like walking over the trap and killing himself. Controlling him alleviates this a bit but it still does happen;
    - You order your dude to attack, he spends the energy and...Nothing happens. No miss, no bullet spent, just nothing. This happens often;
    - You'd better be ready to quick save every 30 seconds because your game is going to crash every couple of minutes;
    - If by some miracle your game ran for a couple of hours without a crash you're going to need to restart it, because while it's terribly optimized to begin with(expect no more than 25ish fps on a ps4 pro) it'll leak itself into a 5 fps slugfest;
    - make copies of your save often, and good luck: I often ran into situations where I had to load the same save 5 times before it actually loaded without a crash;
    - As I stated at the start, one of those saves that corrupted itself during a crash somehow managed to break my entire file system and error boot-loop my ps4. I had to initialize it and lost all the saves to all my games. I am never playing a game from this company again if I see even a slim mention of a single bug.

    On the plus side, the writing's great, the story is entertaining and the concept is fun. If only it worked. Never before have I seen a game that paired such great writers up with such awful developers.

    Embarassing.

    This game doesn't get the score it deserves because the console releases were and still kinda are buggy messes. I have encountered an army of audio glitches and a handful of very annoying glitches that made me load a previous save because I was stuck in battle after defeating everyone or the game would freeze during random dialog choice sections. Despite all of that I am absolutely in love

    Wasteland is a game that has masses of potential but really needs barriers removed for a great experience. After a few hours I had to give up as I could see these barriers were going to be omnipresent and very noticeable. I have almost identical gripes with Divinity Original Sin and its sequel.

    The graphic are quite decent. Being able to zoom in and out is a nice touch, however the camera angle itself makes it very difficult to see where you are going properly. This is quite a problem in a game that explains a mechanic whereby you should strategically place your soldiers before battle, but that's a bit hard to when you can't see the layout of the field or your enemies properly.

    The map of the game is also horrendous, as well as the overall UI. It's messy and overly complicated, introducing you to far too much too early into the game. Unless you have a lot of hours and patience, this is overwhelming. Granted RPGs are time-consuming by definition, but this is an avoidable issue.

    The gameplay is where more issues arise. I really liked the RPG mechanics of levelling up and increasing attributes, but again this is cumbersome in the early hours as you are thrown into the deep end of tutorials and RPG mechanics, some not very well explained. For example, lockpicking and other skills are largely seen as one option out of many, however I was meeting locked doors that were key to solving missions, meaning if you don't level up a character in this then you're going to get stuck and frustrated a few hours later like I was.

    In addition to this, weapon modding seems to be locked behind a skill tree also, which doesn't make sense when you have a vast array of skills needing your attention. I put the difficulty on easy as I foresaw issues with the game, so modding wasn't needed but this could be a major problem otherwise.

    Another major gripe I have is with the layout, the maps and mission structures. The guidance is absolutely lacking and minimal. I'm not sure if this is intended ala Divinity Original Sin but I think it's a terribly lazy game mechanic. To even access the map you have to open the menu and cycle through about five tabs to get there. This is very cumbersome and the mini-map is pretty much useless. There are no map markers to show your destination - usually you are given place names but this involves arduously searching through the map, which is also not user-friendly at all.

    In general, the gameplay is not user-friendly and nowhere near as fluid as it could be and should be. Then there are bugs, such as when I press X to exit and area and nothing happens, meaning I need to repeat and repeat until it temperamentally works.

    The story is where Wasteland 3 shines regardless of the abundance of issues. The characters are diverse and show some personality whilst also allowing you dialog trees that influence mission progression. The downside for me was that characters are thrown at you thick and fast, so it's hard to get to know your teammates, never mind your accomplices and enemies. Unfortunately I did not progress far enough to benefit from this promising story.

    Overall, Wasteland 3 makes me dread the state of the games that came before it. What is most frustrating really is that none of the issues are particularly complex or difficult to resolve. There is clearly a blueprint of an excellent game that I can see, however I simply cannot get past the arduous menu navigating and incomplete mission structures.

    Let me ask you a question first: What is the most important aspect of a game? Being able to play it of course.

    But hey, credit is when it is due, so let's talk about this game's strong points. In terms of rpg experience Wasteland 3 is simply brilliant. Rpg elements, skill checks etc are seamlessly combined with a very fun combat system. With many different weapons, items, special abilities, and a non-linear gameplay, Wasteland 3 will offer you many, many different ways to have fun.

    ...if you can ACTUALLY PLAY IT.

    From a technical standpoint, Wasteland 3 is an utter and complete disaster. Just like PS4 version of previous game, Wasteland 3 will continuously test your patience as you slog through the game's numerous glitches, bugs and of course, crashes. Your initial enjoyment from this game will turn into first, frustration later hair pulling anger and finally nail-biting terror. You will struggle to not to throw the controller to floor as you wonder why the your ai controlled companions disappear without warning. Your curses will be heard from the space as you try to move your character who simply refuses to budge or shot at the enemy despite being in range and having a fully loaded weapon. Your pulse will rise as you wait in horror, wondering when the game will crash and cost you your hard earned victory, which you just spent 10 minutes to win.

    Oh, did i mention crashes? Oh yes. This game crashes ALL THE TIME. In every 30 or 40 minutes game crashes during the area transitions, forcing you to restart your game.

    As of the time of this review, Wasteland 3 is six months old and they couldn't fix this. In fact, they couldn't fix anything at all. Every time developers release a patch, they fix something but end up breaking something else. It appears that developers, despite the criticism of Wasteland 2's terrible launch and subsequent technical problems, especially on PS4, have learned nothing. Was it too much to hire programmers that are actually competent and program games that are, you know, actually playable?

    At this state, i cannot recommend Wasteland 3 which is in a broken state despite being 6 months old. It is no exaggeration to say that this is the most unstable game i have ever played on my PS4. ...well, besides Wasteland 2 of course.

    You simply cannot release a broken, faulty product. You have responsibility to your costumers and long-term fans to do an at least, a game that doesn't break down every half an hour.

    If your game is less stable than Alpha Protocol, it is time to consider a career change.

    There have been said enough about bugs of that game... And yes, I can still confirm that, there are still bugs and bad implementations in the game. Well, its the customers fault, that they buy unfinished games...

    Even after the recently released patch, that really improved the loading times (~60% I have read), the loading times still killed the game for me! It is incredible, that the game still needs up to 30 seconds to load a new sector! We are not talking about huge maps and sectors, come on!

    Do not get fooled! This game wastes a lot of my lifetime for just loading game contents...

    No one can tell me, that they could not preload game contents, when the player is going to a particular exit point! Other games also do preloading of game contents. It can't no so hard to be implemented.

    The game sectors or maps are just ridiculous small, I do not know why the game needs to load each time I am entering another part of a city! LOL?!

    By the way, I have seen a lot of video games. This game does just copying previous games and does not show much new stuff. Do not understand high people can rate that game about 80%!

    It's just fooling us! Even Fallout 1,2 and Tactics or XCOM 1&2 did better job here!

    Wake up, it's 2020 and we play games that are released not finished and are also boring and time wasting!

    Thanks MS I did not have to buy that game! Thanks to the Game Pass!

    No wonder it is in the game pass...

    I am getting loosing respect for game development, if I see such crap going release since years now!

    It's okay to copy ideas, but even worse making things even worse!!!

    The game is playable, that's why I give a 4/10!

    But it really burns my lifetime... You have to walk a lot in that game to get things done and then, even if its not enough, they also burn my time with those loading times each time I move from one part of the game to another... ROFL

    And this is the third part of that game... LOL again.
    What will Wasteland 4 look like? Another copy of Wasteland 2/3???

    Wasteland 3 is a technically and visually flawed work of art. It is a true successor to the cult cRPG franchise, both masterfully written and designed, where the player is presented with a true impactfulness and meaning to their choices and decisions.
