This game is great. Is it the best? No. Is it lazy in some areas? Yes. Is it, most importantly, fun? Yes. I've been playing the Warriors Orochi games forever and played every Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors, even the dreaded 9. In that sense, content is still lacking here with no camp and low budget interfaces, but if you can get past that, the gameplay this time around is so much better. The magic mechanics are great and add depth to the combat. I would only suggest to play on HARD because NORMAL is unbelievably easy. Honestly. Otherwise as a Koei fan, I love this game so far. Expand

As a fan of the warriors franchise, this game just evolves whats best about warriors. Having big huge battles. Also you can use magic, which is incredible. Also so many characters to choose from, and you can deify them lol. Some glitchy ness and characters forming into each other lol.but overall a good warriors game

As a veteran of the series, stemming clear back to the original 1v1 Dynasty Warriors, I have been through the entire journey, including the abomination that was Dynasty Warriors 9. For years the series (excluding the special spinoffs) have been losing their magic for me - the magic that I felt the first time I played Dynasty Warriors 2 on my brand new PS2, or the mind blowing experience of DW3 and so on. Orochi 4 has done the impossible and brought back that nostalgia, and somehow given us the dream Warriors game with a level of polished never seen before in the series.

If you are a fan of the series, even slightly, then you would be doing yourself a great disservice by not experiencing what I would argue is the best in the series you.

I actually think this was one of my favorite warriors orochi games, i played, 1 2 3, this was fun
I really hate warriors games as a whole, for being bland, empty, repetitive games, and prefer the empires, or orochi versions. and spinoffs, this one is really good.
you can use 3 characters at once, and that 1 mechanic makes it fun. games fun. It gets really samey and repetitive though

It gets really samey and repetitive though after awhile. but worth a play.

samurai and dynasty combined together make harmony
otherwise, those 2 by themselves are meh

The fundamental gameplay couldn’t be simpler, and the dialogue is terrible… but it’s good. There’s a staggering 170 characters to unlock, and you’ll soon find favourites. With an enormous amount of content, online and offline co-op (if you can find other players; I couldn’t), and some cool-looking moves, it’s a shallow but entrancing adventure. [Issue#157, p.88]

I enjoyed my time with this blend of warring states Japan, three kingdoms China, and mythological fighters colliding with each other. The character roster and amount of magic flair is deep (even if the combat itself is simple) and Warriors Orochi 4 scratches a very specific itch with its over-the-top action — but not everyone has that same itch. But for those that do, it’s more of the same that fans love.

There is fun to be had with Warriors Orochi 4, as I certainly found myself hooked in once I got going, yet I don’t recommend the game for the uninitiated. It failed to leave a strong lasting impression, and I lacked the emotional connection to the story concepts. If you’re a veteran of the franchise, you’ll find Koei Tecmo has made a solid entry to add to your library. If, like me, you’re still fresh-faced, wait for a sale or work your way towards it.
