Mar 31, 2017In terms of story and mythology this game is not that exciting. On the other hand, it feels great to overpower big trolls and fat bosses. Vikings Wolves of Midgard is a great game for everyone who wants something other than Diablo.

Mar 30, 2017Vikings: Wolves of Midgard is a very competent entry to action RPG genre with few caveats. Peppered among the well detailed Norse mythology inspired locales are occasional performance issues and a formulaic story. While notable, these do not detract from a fun and satisfying hack and slash experience. It must be hard to challenge a king of the genre like Diablo, but Vikings: Wolves of Midgard is a brilliant alternative to the Blizzard giant.

Mar 27, 2017It didn’t take long for Vikings to bludgeon those expectations into a meaty, undulating pulp.

Mar 24, 2017Vikings – Wolves of Midgard takes the formula made popular by the game named after the Spanish word for devil and makes it its own. I wouldn’t go as a far to say this is a Diablo killer, but this is one of the more impressive titles that follows that game’s template. The looting, crafting and killing formula is one that has been done many times over and it is no less addictive in this title. This interpretation of Ragnarok and Norse mythology creates an interesting campaign setting that’s not often used in games, and the visual and sound design make this an engrossing title once the player gets past the tutorials. For fans of action RPGs, Vikings – Wolves of Midgard is a must play.

Mar 24, 2017A remarkable title.

Apr 6, 2017The fun gameplay makes it up for the not so inspired graphic and sound design. The game lacks the deep customisation and character evolution typical of this genre but offers gratifying hackn' slash combat instead.
-
Mar 27, 2017Shortcomings aside, hack and slash fiends who are looking for their next fix should definitely check out Vikings: Wolves of Midgard, a genre effort which more than earns its passage into Valhalla.
-
Mar 24, 2017While a little unpolished, Vikings – Wolves of Midgard is over-the-top fun.

Apr 17, 2017There’s a lot to like in Vikings, even if the game’s never able to effectively articulate how it’s different to the genre’s greats. It manages - just - to be more than a by-the-numbers Diablo clone thanks to the creative energy that went into its bosses and environment design, but it relies too heavily on that, and the assumption that you’ll be playing the game in multiplayer. As a single player experience, the limits on what Vikings can offer become distracting; making it good for a lazy afternoon of grinding fun, but not something that you’ll remember over the longer term.

Mar 24, 2017This title has some good ideas, but it doesn't really shine when executing any of them. It can be a good option if you love the genre, but there are better alternatives out there.

Jun 5, 2017Vikings: Wolves of Midgard manages to provide some fun for those who know what they're getting into. Simple yet serviceable combat and a competent graphical presentation make for a game that is as easy to handle as it is to look at. Its multitude of extraneous features, however, fail to add much engaging and compelling to the mix; resource management and town-building, multiple skill trees, repeatable hunt maps, and a rage combat ability can all safely be ignored. Though it has a lengthy campaign and relatively low challenge, it never really manages to rise past the basic thrill of its combat, and will disappoint those looking for a deep, satisfying story or anything beyond the hack-and-slash loot-a-thon it is.
-
Apr 14, 2017Too many technical flaws, bad design decisions and a price tag unsuitable for a game of this kind left as quite disappointed with Vikings: Wolves of Midgard.
-
Apr 8, 2017Vikings - Wolves of Midgard takes a fair swing at the loot-heavy action RPG genre, but its middling gameplay fails to leave a lasting impression. Going up against the likes of the mighty Diablo III on PS4, its dull blade bounces off the competition, but Vikings is just competent enough to survive the scuffle and live another day.
-
May 29, 2017A distinctly below average hack-and-slash game with better examples of the genre already out there.
