Don't let them fool you. This is one of the worst games i've ever played.

    First playthrough is... boring.
Everything after this - worthless. U get everything deleted except of your skilltree (even the +% of whatever by leveling up - deleted!)
So, if u wanna buy a game with 12h content and scripted loot....

No one really speaks about the technical faults of this game a ten? are you kidding?
Enemies don't always die they sometimes get trapped half in the level, no local co op.
Loot is scripted. A boss glitched and we couldn't kill him, we had to redo the whole level. It's painful trying to get every iron skull. Sometimes they don't even all spawn in the bog. It's hard in the beginning, but

1 because four people are fanboys and aren't even giving it a score it deserves.

Vikings: Wolves of Midgard is a failed experiment where the things that it does right are quickly overshadowed by an obnoxious UI, clunky controls, and generally frustrating experiences navigating the software that really detract from the game.

Vikings: Wolves of Midgard is a failed experiment where the things that it does right are quickly overshadowed by an obnoxious UI, clunky controls, and generally frustrating experiences navigating the software that really detract from the game.

The game itself, the parts where you are running around, killing enemies, casting spells, using abilities, hacking, slashing, and getting loot are enjoyable. It's the Diablo formula so it's pretty tried and true. The problems appear everywhere in between.

Want to navigate around your inventory? Make sure you very ginergly push the control stick up and right and then return it in a straight line to center or the icon will bounce right of the item you are trying to select and go to you head or hands.

Want to level up? Good luck. These trees don't even navigate in the cardinal directions (not to mention, if you want to specialize in 1 class, you have no choices anyhow. You will just spend all your points every turn in exactly the skills that you just unlocked.)

Want to return to the village? Just open the menu and hit the x button. Oh nothing happened? Hit it again. Wait. Try holding it. Maybe both players need to do it simultaneously. Well maybe just tape it 30 or so times until it registers the command. Cool.

Ready to stop playing? Just hit the save button and then log out. Oh, there is no save button? Well will it autosave when I leave? Nope. I'll just lose any of the item selling or crafting I did.

Are there ways around these problems? Sure.
Carefully pointing the control stick, jamming the button 100 times, and learning to always end the game by doing a God's trial so you get the benefit of a post trial autosave are all hoops you can jump through and will over time become second nature. But you shouldn't have to!

So, should you get this game?
If you are jonesing for a Diablo-style couch -co-op game and have exhausted all your other options...sure. But be prepared for the frustrations the game will bring you. Know what you are getting into and set your expectations low so that you can laugh at how terribly designed everything is and just enjoy hacking up trolls and rival clans. Ya know...for fun.

Vikings: Wolves of Midgard manages to provide some fun for those who know what they're getting into. Simple yet serviceable combat and a competent graphical presentation make for a game that is as easy to handle as it is to look at. Its multitude of extraneous features, however, fail to add much engaging and compelling to the mix; resource management and town-building, multiple skill trees, repeatable hunt maps, and a rage combat ability can all safely be ignored. Though it has a lengthy campaign and relatively low challenge, it never really manages to rise past the basic thrill of its combat, and will disappoint those looking for a deep, satisfying story or anything beyond the hack-and-slash loot-a-thon it is.

A distinctly below average hack-and-slash game with better examples of the genre already out there.

There’s a lot to like in Vikings, even if the game’s never able to effectively articulate how it’s different to the genre’s greats. It manages - just - to be more than a by-the-numbers Diablo clone thanks to the creative energy that went into its bosses and environment design, but it relies too heavily on that, and the assumption that you’ll be playing the game in multiplayer. As a single player experience, the limits on what Vikings can offer become distracting; making it good for a lazy afternoon of grinding fun, but not something that you’ll remember over the longer term.
