I went from thinking this game is just fine, through liking it a lot, to loving it, and claiming it one of the best games I ever played. I imagine my score is kinda high, and objectively I would probably give it like 8 / 8.5, but I'm having just too much fun with this game, even after finishing campaign 100%, and now playing a ghost mode (campaign, with permadeath).

Saying that this game is repetitive is kinda like saying that witcher 3 is repetitive, because basically you do the same thing over and over - you talk to some dude, ride the horse, track the monster, kill monster, go back to the dude. What changes is the context, and Ghost Recon Wildlands is no different in that case. I wish in fact that enemy locations were little more diverse, like in MGSV, but because of the task you have to do, the enemy base layout, enemy placement, time of the day etc, even doing the same mission twice is different experience.

This game is kinda like MGSV, but even bigger. It has great stealth and shooting mechanics, although it was clearly made in the way to focus on stealth killing, rather than open combat.

The world design is great. It looks especially great in the distance, or from helicopter perspective. it looks like it was design based on satellite photos, or with knowledge of geology. It's beautiful, but not idealized like in most open world games. It's as pretty as pretty the nature can be. Architecture on the other hand looks bad, and interior design is horrible.

As much as I like the 'lore' of cartel controller Bolivia, it's a wasted potential. Ending of the game has twists that shows, how cool the story could be if they put more effort into it. Rather than that, story revolves around background stories of buchones, and is just excuse for gameplay. It's not good, but it's not too stupid (for example, far cry 3 has story and dialog so stupid, that I preferred to clear camps out of bandits than progress with story).

Gameplay is where the game really shines. If you enjoyed MGSV, you'll surely enjoy this one. In the begining I thought 'this game is cool, kinda like MGSV but worse'. Now I love it way more than MGSV.
You can drop from a chopper, parachute into enemy location, kill the sniper on a sniping tower, recon enemy base with drone with thermovision, lure some enemies out and make sync shots. You can for example place c4 on enemy vehicles, so when buchon you want to capture will see you and try to escape, you'll destroy vehicles. The sound effect and little fog of blood when you shoot enemy make it really pleasant to kill people. You get total freedom in how you want to approach the mission. You can play sniper, rambo, or infiltrate enemy base.
What I don't like, is that because enemy locations are mostly open-air, most of missions can be done by sniping from distance, which is the safest option. I also wish you could move the dead bodies of enemies to avoid alerting the living ones.

The world in this game is huge. To my understanding, it's 10 times bigger than far cry 4's. Although cartel is divided into 4 branches, the game is so big, that it allows you to kill main boss after destroying just 2 of branches.
I don't know. I hear reviewers saying that this game is good to co-op, but boring solo. I played the whole game solo, and I enjoyed every moment of it. I'd love to play it co-op on split screen with my wife, but unfortunately co-op is online only.

Expand

All in all good game with very VERY amazing content, but at the end of the day when you beat the game it get's repetitive as all hell. The constant shouting from ally rebels at a spawn/travel point really really gets on my nerves and so do the goddamn same repetitive lines from your AI members. I give it a 6/10 because it was still better and more what I expected it to be compared to The Division.

Throughout last year, I heard that the game over time had gotten better and Ubisoft really worked on the game until it was a solid game. So I figured, it had been almost a year, now would be a good time to give the game a try.

Initially, I really enjoyed my time the game. I had put 20 hours into the game and I was having fun but then it became too much. I didn’t sit and count how many provinces were in the game but I would guess the in-game map had at least 20 provinces or sections.

What the gameplay loop was, go into a new area. You have very little information about the area and so you go in and talk to NPC’s or find computers that you “hack” which tells you where the story mission intel is. You go to the story mission intel and then that tells you where you need to go for the actual story mission. Now you need to do that approximately 5 times per area because each area has approximately 5 story missions. Once you complete all 5 story missions that bring out the “boss” of that area so you can capture or kill them. Once you kill the Provinces boss, you completed that Province and you move onto a new one.

The big problem is, there wasn’t enough variety in each mission and it was too big and too ambitious. I had completed 5-6 areas and that took me 20ish hours. I just looked at the map and felt exhausted. I didn’t have it in me to play the game for another 50+ hours. I like shorter games, 20-30 hours is great for me. The game ended up being too big for itself.

Easily one of the most engaging games I’ve played in a while, nice but simple storyline with great graphics and realistic gameplay. Never gets boring. Open map with great landscapes to explore, really keeping this game interesting. Have invested some serious hours over the past few months. Only major downsides, average A.I. and Tier mode makes the game unplayable after a specific tier.

    - Failing missions due to Rebel AI running my brother over during a Coop play segment and as I went to pick him up, he then runs me over and we fail the mission.
    - Running into fences that in other parts of the game were destructible
    - I could go on, but then Ubisoft would be wasting my time more.
I do not recommend anyone purchasing this game, it is a failed attempt to cash in on the engine used for another failed game "The Division".
I cannot recall the last time I played such a lousy and lazily created game. With all of the other open world games out there (creative and fun ) , this becomes more and more unacceptable. I hope this game failed. Anyone who would mark this game 10/10 is no doubt full of ****

I have stayed away from Ubisoft games for so long from AC Brotherhood to FarCry4. They felt tedious and too much bloat, with a busy HUD and minimap. They felt cookie cutter, and very much a standard Ubisoft game.

Then I tried Wildlands during a free weekend in April 2018 and boy was I surprised! It was so fun and immersive. If you don't treat it like GTA or JustCause and play it like a military simulator, my goodness, it's super satisfying.

These are my pros of the game:
    1. Jaw dropping environmental visuals.
    2. Each location and main mission is unique. The varied settings make the game not as repetitive as I thought it would be.
    3. Gunplay is so fun! I stuck to 3-5 guns throughout the game but it makes you bond with your weapons, like a real soldier would.
    4. AI companions are great. Useful and easy to command.
    5. If you're into the drug war setting, especially shows like Narcos, you'll be immersed in this. I felt like Agent Pena and Agent Murphy the whole time!
    6. If you like roleplaying the good guy and taking down villains based on real world issues, this is the game for you.
    7. Vehicles are excellent. Driving around and taking the sighta in Bolivia is so therapeutic.
    8. Collectibles add a lot to the story, history and culture of Bolivia and brings you to places on the map where you wouldn't think to go. Worth collecting and doesn't make me feel like I wasted time. Call it virtual tourism. Definitely a huge improvement from previous experiences I had with Ubi collecathon games.
    9. Each boss you take down is unique, with their own backstories and motivation. To me, this doesn't make the game feel repetitive at all.
    10. Tier One mode is EXCELLENT! Changes the game and makes you play the way Solid Snake would. 1-2 bullets and you're dead. Finally, a realistic shooter, where I don't feel like I'm super Rambo going guns blazing and taking out an entire base on my own.
    11. Predator and Splinter Cell mission is SOOOOO GOOOOOOD.
    12. The gadgets are so fun! Gives you creative ways to finish a mission.
    13. Bottomline, if you like games like Mafia 3, shows like Narcos/13 Hours, appreciate great graphics and awesome visual settings, you'll love Wildlands.

    Cons:
    1. Enemy detection is too high when driving around. Can't drive in peace.
    2. Those missiles while flying in a chopper are SUPER ANNOYING.
    3. After 90hrs of gameplay, the music was so grating to my ears. Needs more soundtracks.
    4. Dialogue for certain actions are repetitive.
    5. Vehicle damage could be more realistic.
    6. Character models in game could be improved, but that's something for next gen open worlds.
    7. The only PS4 game I've played which had 5-10 crashes during gameplay.

Please Ubi, now that you've won me over, please make Wildlands 2 and Splinter Cell! Until then, I will give AC Origins and FarCry5 a chance, hopefully they'll surprise me just as Wildlands did.

Exploring Bolivia is great fun especially with little and big mountain/jungle/desert/forest hideouts all over the place. Villages and towns can be infested with lurking cartel members (or Unidad, the corrupt para-military police) and it's up to you to decide if you're going to snipe them from a distance or go in guns blazing. Each scenario is fluid, intense, but with a plethora of weapons to choose from and infinitely customize, each approach to a situation is different if you want it to be. Drone recon is wonderful, easy to use, and very helpful, as is the rebel assistance you can employ in ever-improving ways the more you progress within the game. I've nothing left to discover in this massive open world, but I find myself still playing it often, which is the sign of an iconic game in my opinion.

And I'm sure the devs themselves had many, many ideas to push it much farther, but likely weren't granted the chance to really nail their vision.

    Pros:
    - Nice, vast open world. I read some find it too big, but I can't see why, especially with the quite abusively numerous ways to move across the map. Boat, helicopters and such. Oh, and you can fast travel, too. *rolleyes*
    - Visually, the game is really good. Purists will have things to say but in general, the overall quality is absolutely there. Animations are usually pretty well done and the array of them is quite complete for most situations; Models are great, too (with one exception: all helmets are massively underscaled, a curious oversight). Vistas are magnificent and environments varied and credible. Great research went into the environment. The map is populated with living folks and the feel of the world is one that breaths (provided you don't look too closely :) It's not like Skyrim where everyone has some business). An exception to that is for the day/night cycle, where roads are equally populous regardless of the time of day, which gives some funky situation where you infiltrate at night only to bump into some senorita moving along a path to God knows where.
    - Gameplay wise, the game is fun and quite easy, for the most part, but once you activate the Tier One feature, it can get really tough fast. My experience in single player indicates the game works well in that context, with your AI squad mates performing above average on most tasks.
    - The story is okay for me, in this context. It's not terribly brilliant, but gets the pace of the game going, and I like those cutscenes are fun.
    - Some flexibility to the loadout. It is all purely cosmetic, but it's great to get to personalize your look, and in a coop context, it can be pretty funny.
    - The weaponsmith station is great too, with a good flexibility on what you can do, and here with some real impact on your gameplay. But you need to unlock most of the stuff. ("Hey, let's head out on this super tight clandestine ops with only 20-rounds magazines!" SAID NO SPEC OPERATORS EVER). Also, you get to unlock a bunch of unique guns you can't edit through that cool editor.

    Cons:
    - Yes, gameplay can get repetitive at time. This is not a big problem in coop, but I can imagine you get tired of playing those missions when playing solo.
    - The game is full of design shortcuts, obviously to ship it in a functionnal state. For example, if you hop on a motorcycle, then move away, your squad mates spawn at the location you traveled to. This is lame. Ammo crate absolutely everywhere to avoid traveling back to base to resupply is a big let down for me, it kills the logistic aspect of the game. Another example is the lack of possibilities to hide body. This is not cool, as there is a huge stealth component to the game (you can get busted if someone find a body, but have no way of moving it... to move around this, the devs made the body despawn after a certain amount of time. Bye immersion.
    - Some open world weirdness, like having the rebels drive casually through a base from the Cartel, with everyone armed to the teeth, and no issue whatsoever.
    - Some pretty lazy LD jobs, like having to fiddle way too long to find the proper spot to trigger marking some logistic cache for the rebels. This is just plain tedious and unnecessary. Same for padlocks on rebels cells, etc.
    - some inputs are tedious, too, like swapping through throwable explosives once you have unlocked them all. Makes for some pretty epic blunders. You should instead have some slots and you choose to equipe these with one or two items. Not all of them.

    Things I'd like to get:
    - WHY, OH WHY NO RAPPELLING FROM HELICOPTERS?
    - A realistic mode. It would be great to be able to push the realism a few notches up.
    - Some training area. Would be great to get some spot in Bolivia to hone one's skills, especially for an PC FPS shooter player like me who ventured on console for the first time. CQB and room clearing and such are a nightmare for me.
    - More markings options to coordinate gameplay between squad mates.
    - Bearings on the HUD.

    Conclusion
Great fun game. I'm having a real blast playing this with my friends. It's far from perfect, and it will not become a classic, but if you are looking for a cool coop game to enjoy with your friends, this is a serious contender.

-Customizing was good enough for what it was, adding different mods/parts on the gun was quite enjoyable and the ability to customize your character at anytime was good
-Co-op was a lot of fun as well

    Negatives:

-Quite a buggy and glitchy shooter, one example is on 3 separate occasions i ended up falling through the map and dropping 550m+ to my death
-Post-game is terrible, very difficult to continue on as there is not a lot of post game content to keep you intrigued
-The post-game system "Tier One" didn't work for me it felt very unrewarding and to get the most out of it you would have to play solo as when your in a lobby it averages out the players levels. So if you were say Tier 35 and 2 or 3 players haven't even started Tier one yet you would get LESS rewards which is a terrible system and the lower level players would get MORE rewards due to your Tier level.
-Difficulty scale is higher questionable, felt like I was taking the same number of shots going down on different difficulty levels.

Overall a game that had a lot of potential that failed major time with the post-game.

    3) Squad controls are genious AND very timely in firefights

Bad: 1) No control binding for selecting "crouch" since there is "soft cover" which means the character goes into cover just by approaching something that could technically act as cover.*

*Even listing this as a "bad" feature of this game is really a technicality as Ubisoft most likely didn't have room in the controller layout to fit the cover option. Finding yourself with too much of a good thing shouldn't be bad.

Long story short: this game is awesome. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

And the whole timed activity like hunting predator in the jungle is a awesome touch, ubisoft should do more timed events like this, and they might turn this game into a success like Rainbow Six.

There is also a lot, and I mean A LOT, of content to be cleared so you need to mark down months of coop time to go platinum coop.

However, while there are a lot of missions, they are also very repetitive. Especially the side missions. As a single player game, this would be about 6/10, mostly because it gets very tedious to finish everything alone. The story on itself doesn't hold up your interest enough to rush through the content to "see what happens". In fact, there is very little story or RPG elements to begin with.

Summa summarum, play it coop (if you have any friends).

The Game is filled with unique features like copters fly faster then planes AND Best of all which no science fiction have ever Imagined of is teleportation Where your squad will teleport to every vehicle you chose to drive or fly.

Enjoy dated graphics and test your patience at a whole different level by bearing three loading screens and a skip scene before game starts, by dying and reviving, Bugs like game stuck sometimes and weapon chests don't appear or don't open AND thats not all toast your ear drums by listening trash on the radio and every where you go, finely get relief by turning music settings to zero.

Bust up with fun by playing repetitive story missions, extremely dull & repetitive side missions & poorly executed cut scene which developers just wanted to get rid off. Ubisoft had you covered every where enjoy one wheeling on a bike for extended period on the salt flat without getting disturbed AND IF you love rain then you are in luck b/z the only weather effect this game can provide is RAIN RAIN And Only Rain.

MEET the richest gorillas on the plant as they can provide you with armored vehicles and copters but no land vehicle when you need it.Test your skills by triggering gun battle with unlimited number of corrupt special forces as there are no heavy weapons in the game like rocket and grenade launchers.

AND Enjoy the fruits of terror you unleashed by not worrying about bosses b/z they are ALL Scared like little girls hiding behind desk or a car and will tell you every thing without any resistance just easy peasy.

I didn't think there was a such thing as too big an open world until I played this game. The problem is, it's almost always impossible to get them all silently because they realistically (but un-funly) stay inside buildings or somehow know exactly where you are if you miss a shot at them. And, you guessed it, once they're alerted, they'll sound an alarm and get an attack helicopter on you and that's that. Initially the game stays fresh by implementing squad tactics, but the map is so huge and the missions so numerous that you invariably feel like you've done that stupid mission where you have to silently interrogate a boss to get intel and you'll sigh when you realize your next objective is 17 kilometers away. The biggest problem is that the upgrade system is completely meaningless - you get such amazing skills as 5% less scope movement on a sniper rifle or 5% faster squad revive - so you never feel like you're getting any better. Even worse, the only way to get new guns (and actually be better) is to do a minimum of 3 of the aforementioned repetitive intel missions only to find the gun is buried in some cave 32 km away.

Honestly, I played the game about 25 hours doing side missions and the main missions and I finished about 30% of the game's massive main mission to take down a drug kingpin. The though of how repetitive that journey would be led me to trade it in.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is big. And with big games you expect the graphics to somehow be of low quality. What amazes me about this game is the world is insanely good looking. As someone who played this game on the pro and have a 4K to with HDR, this game is truly beautiful.

The game play itself is solid, its feels a little clunky when you first begin your adventures in Bolivia but you quickly become used to it. The enemy Artificial Intelligence (AI) in this game are easily exploited, except when it comes to their field of vision. Your teammate AI are very efficient killers, so much so playing with friends makes this game quite a bit harder. The story itself isn't inspiring, but being a military game the options are quite limited as these types of games usually involve a bad guy who has done some bad things and you need to stop him.

Initially there are concerns that this game is going to be repetitive and indeed on occasion it feels that way. But most missions allow you to approach it however you want, stealthy, guns blazing, or call in some rebels and watch them tear through a base camp. One of the truly annoying gripes I have with this game is when you call in a helicopter and it most often is near a tree or building, sometimes you even watch it slowly descend into a river at first it's quite funny, after a while Roach from the witcher 3 seems like a god.

Overall I enjoyed playing this game either solo or with friends and would recommend to anyone who appreciates diverse open world games with stealth game play.

There's not much to enjoy about this game. It's a great idea, and it had me pretty excited about it when it was first announced at E3 2015. Then, The Division came out, which is one of the worst games I've ever played. When I saw that the same team behind that atrocity was working on Wildlands, I lost all hope. And while I will say it's better than The Division in some ways, let's be honest, that's not a hard bar to pass over.

So let's start off with what's good. The graphics do look a lot better than they have in other Ubisoft games, and really bring the world to life. Customisation is also very well realised. The character creator isn't anything special, but you can customise your clothes any time and unlock more as you play more of the game (and sign up for Uplay). Weapon customisation is also great, and is one of the better ways that Ubisoft has handled it.

Now let's look at the bad. The story is garbage, which i was already expecting, even if the game turned out to be good. The only interesting parts are the backstories of the cartel leaders, but thats a very small portion of it. The ending is extremely lazy, and is basically just a way of saying you wasted $60. The open world has nothing to do in it besides missions. No extra activities, no challenges to complete, no nothing. All you can do are story missions, and side missions, both of which involve you going to a base, taking out some dudes, getting what you need, and leaving. It's repetitive, boring, and made me wanna quit the game after I did three. When you are shooting guys, its not fun or satisfying. It seems that Ubisoft will never understand that shooting the same guy over and over again isn't fun. Now let's talk about the absolute worst part of Wildlands: the driving. I think anyone, and I mean anyone, would agree that the driving controls in this game are some of the worst ever made. They're so slippery, so you'll find yourself driving off cliffs and running into things constantly with barely any control of your vehicle. And considering that most of the mission objectives are so far apart from each other, you HAVE to drive everywhere, Or just fly a helicopter there, but that's not a better option.

Overall, this is nothing more than another sh*tty Tom Clancy game that Ubisoft is frequently adding to their list. I hope they realise that this formula is getting old, and that they need to try something new, but that's not going to happen. Until then, we're stuck with games like this. 4/10.

    Gameplay
    - It's mostly great. Did suffer from glitches at the beginning, but it's been mostly ironed out. It's a Ubisoft game, so expect bugs.
    - Sniping and stealth gameplay is pretty good too and I love the sync shot. Your Teammate AI never misses! They are also better than human coop players.
    - However it's more fun playing with other real people to tackle missions.
    - Good graphics for a open world game and the map is huge. Biggest i've seen in any open world game. It cool to go sky diving or gliding. landscape and scenery is gorgeous. A bit like Uncharted, but better I think.

    - There are lots of enemy bases scattered around the map.

    Con
    - Side missions are way way way too repetitve and grind-ish.
    - Main missions do sort of get repetitive, but the it flows better because it adds an element of infiltration into more unique enemy bases.
    - main missions need to incorporate skydiving, driving or bike riding more to vary the mission style. The same goes for vehicle use. Everyone just uses a helicopter to travel.

    The Story
It's a bit bland to be honest. There is some great voice acting, but the dialogue between your agent and your fellow agents is extremely limited and repetitive. They always say the same thing. There is particular teammate AI who jokes a bit, but other than that we don't learn about each character and we don't feel attached despite the character customisations.

But when you finish the game, there is not much else to do unless you start a new game.

Best part of Ghost recon wildlands is sniping for sure. But understandably it's really hard snipe enemies if your draw distance is limited to 500m. It does help with a teammate.

Overall great concept from Ubisoft, but wished it had a more RPG element to it to make the game more memorable.

The graphics are amazing, the map is beautiful. The open world is definitely open and probably a bit too big and open. This game offers nothing to work for unless you are just playing to get better guns. You can seriously play a couple missions and fly right over to the end boss. There is pretty much no unlocking the map, all you do is cross the border and BAM! New area opened.

And the dialogue....oh. my. god. is it terrible. No emotion at all. You will hear the same talk and dialogue on the radio when driving so much and it never changes that you will want to mute the TV. And don't even get me started on the terrible driving controls....

The concept is good, the graphics good, the story is decent, but the missions are the same over and over. Go here and kill this guy, or go here and capture this guy...that's it.

It's clear that absolutely no personality or passion has gone into the game from the developers that must have found making this game a daily grind. An open-world tactical military shooter is not a new thing. It's been executed successfully in the past in the form of games like Operation Flashpoint, ARMA - hell, even the original Ghost Recon (which is an amazing game by the way); but expect to find none of that quality here. The enemy AI in this game is missing, replaced by the most unrealistic, jarring automatons imaginable: they wield their assault rifles on full auto like they are casually hosing down a car - bullet hoses that they are 100% accurate with - and after a firefight breaks out, can spot you from several hundred feet away in the pitch black of night, even with your weapon suppressed. Meanwhile, you're trying to spot a few fuzzy pixels through your NVGs while prone behind some concealment and this non-military trained gang-banger has already shredded you with his machine pistol. That's right - good AI is developing realistic enemy behavior, not making a game ridiculous to the extremes and calling it a simulation. What's more, the game allows you to disable the HUD. This excited me - it increases immersion - until I realized that the game is unplayable without the HUD: You can't see conversation options when talking to NPCs, rendering them useless. This is a shameless cash grab, rushed out by the ruthless capitalist machine that is Ubisoft. Avoid at all costs! Expand

Great game. I love to play co-op and this game has it.
I have played over 20 hours with my son and my brother and it is just fun.

The world is hughmungus and very detailed.
The clips in the game (files on the enemies ) are great, an achievement on their own.
All in all, I highly recommend this game if you like to play cooperative (I have not played solo).

Boring and repetitive game full of bugs. I missed the platinum because the gun collector trophies are bugged, but did Ubisoft fix it ? Of course not, they were too busy on a dlc so they could gouge even more money - not from me. This is the last Ubisoft game I will buy.

Ubisoft is apparently aware of this problem, but from the lack of communication i doubt they even care to optimize this anymore. The story in this ghost recon is not what you should be paying attention to. It's basically Just cause 2 but without the parachute and less health. The combat, especially "loud", is quite boring. The stealth side is ok. Vehicle physics are sometimes quite weird but nothing crazy. Helicopters' controls are horrible and the armed helis are quite useless because you can't even aim them. Graphics are nothing special, but when it rains fps tanks down to about 40, but at least it looks nice. The AI was a big problem back in beta but that's gone in the full release, but that doesn't mean there are some situations where the AIs go full retard. The new open world side of ghost recon is quite nice, but then there's the problem that exists in nearly every large open world game. So much empty space, but ubisoft managed to balance this by placing weapons, side missions and collectibles around the map. Personally i have completed the main missions (105) all alone and the conclusion was quite disappointing, but not mass effect 3 level disappointing.
Overall good game, would recommend to be played with a friend or two. Not worth the 60$, but i got 20% off so i didn't really care about the price. If you are thinking about getting this now, wait few months. Maybe it's going to get a summer discount down to 40$ which is the price i would pay for it.

Below average product, the customization is not deep, the world is boring, the gameplay is stiffy, storytelling is one of the worst issues, the only thing how you can have lots of fun is playing with friends and mock out of the ridiculiness of the game, way worst than The Division or Phantoms.

Another thing is the vehicles, I never saw such a goofy and approximate driving, is it a bike, a pick up or a bloody airplane. Really, the most unnatural driving experience ever. I would like to say that at least the graphic is good, which it aint that bad if u look faraway, cause the rocks, the plants and the layers close to you are worth of a PS1. I dunno, really, the game itself is not that that bad, but it becomes a pain in the side after 30mins session. Probably u'd wanna save your money bout this... Expand

I've been playing for a couple weeks and I have barely scratched the surface of the game, so I can't tell how the story is going to go but I haven't regretted my purchase once. You can tell Ubisoft put a lot of work into this one. The writing could be better and the banter between teammates pales in comparison to dialogue you'll find in Rockstar games. Still, overall it's an excellent game. I can't understand any score lower than a 7 for this game. I picked up this game and played through two boss missions and still playing it as we speak. I have not jumped into Co Op but may on a harder difficultly level for more stealth like work.

Gameplay 8/10 - The game is fun. It's a little Division like where you have to go from A and B to do C and what have you, but that's where any comparison with the Division stops. You unlock intel to obtain more skills, weapon unlocks, missions, and this is until the end game. You can choose to remain stealth or go out like Rambo, it's your choice.

Graphics 8/10 - There are occasional hiccups in frame rate, other than that, it looks pretty smooth for a video game. I know people these days, especially the spoiled generation who has never even played a Nintendo or Sega console their whole life are expecting true realistic graphics with bullets literally coming out of the tv set, but come on.....it's a video game and the graphics are good based on that. You won't see limbs flying off, which is a little disappointing on a realistic level, but they're getting there with the blood powder spraying off their heads or body.

AI 6/10 - Your team's AI is just plain stupid. They'll "sneak" around right in front of enemies eyes without being detected. Sometimes they won't even shoot at enemies. But they will shoot on command or if you move them to a spot, they'll move, but that's that. They offer no "intelligence" let alone artificial besides that. I think the rebels that you free offer more intelligence to be honest.

Some of the enemy AI are quite stupid as well, but let's be honest here, they're gang bangers. What do you expect. At least it doesn't take 100 bullets to the face to kill them like The Division thank God.

Multiplayer ??? I have not got into that yet, but probably will on a harder difficulty after my solo campaign is completed. But based on youtube videos, I got to say, it looks pretty good if you coordinate with the right team that COMMUNICATES. Can we start communicating on the headset console people? It seems people have become introverted through multiplayer as the years gone by in online gaming. I remember people used to communicate back in Socom, Halo days, etc. What happened?

Overall, it's a great game, not perfect, but great. You'll have fun. There will be some WOW moments, but there are some moments you're like "Really?"

Hopefully Ubisoft fixes the bugs such as AI, riding on a dirt bike everywhere and anywhere without repercussion, minor graphic tweaks, etc.

Once they patch some of these issues, this game would be a solid 9/10.

I can truly understand why professional reviews score it so highly as professional reviewers often don't get to spend a lot of time with a game prior to making a judgement. If I were judging the game by my impressions after completing only one or two provinces, I'd likely give it an 8 as well. However, the problems begin to show as the game wears on, even with a dedicated group of friends playing regularly for a few hours a night, as was my case.

Frankly, once you've fully completed your first province, you've seen everything the game has to offer. By the time you've done enough to defeat your first underboss, you'll probably be tired of the gameplay. Every province might look different but they all play the same. The same mission types, the same rebel ops, the same convoys, the same side missions. There's no real variation, every mission is either stealth to area X and do Y, kill or capture X, or steal item X. Almost all of them use the exact same mechanics as every other side mission, so your main missions might involve hijacking a truck which operates identically to taking down a convoy.

Each province is littered with crap to collect, more guns than you'll ever likely use with most of them utter garbage. A quick glance of your UI pretty much tells you the best guns in the game and tells you in which provinces they can be found.

Enemy AI, even on higher difficulty levels, is pathetically stupid. Especially the supposed military force, UNIDAD, who I've literally had stand over where I was hiding in a bush and not see me. The story, if you want to call it that, is pretty much a mashup of the movies "A Clear and Present Danger" and "SICARIO". There are also a plethora of bugs to be found that frequently causes mission problems and mission failures. One example off the top of my head: One particular mission where you have to deliver a truck without being detected. We stopped a good 600 meters away and silently took out all of the enemies at the drop off point, but when we drove the truck into the lot it instantly failed and said we had been detected somehow. We did the same thing on a subsequent attempt - EXACTLY the same, down to firing from the same place - and it completed.

Bugs and hackneyed story aside, it's the sheer rote gameplay that brings it down. By the time my 2 other friends and I had managed to take down a department head, we were all desperately bored of the game. Tonight, as I type this, one of them is off playing FF15 instead and I'm not at all enthused about logging into Wildlands, especially not if it means playing solo with the friendly AI that's just as dumb as the enemies.

I can't recommend buying this until it's cheap in the bargain bin. This is a prime example of the problems with massive open world games. The size of the playable area doesn't ensure a quality experience.

Ghost Recon is a long awaited open world, co-op game in a new location I have never experienced in a video game before with an all new enemy, Does this game get consumed by the Wildlands or does the ghost team reign supreme? let's find out.

Story: You and your special operations team start off the game by entering Bolivia and meeting agent Karen Bowman, as you make your way to the extraction point Karen is briefing you on the mission (operation Kingslayer). Your mission in Wildlands is to take down the Santa Blanca cartel and stop there terrorizing of the Bolivian country, Corruption of politics, Cocaine Distribution, kidnapping the rebels (Resistance against Santa Blanca Cartel). Once all the territories are cleared you then have the chance to go after El Sueno who is the head honcho of the Santa Blanca Cartel; as you progress through the game and clear regions you end up taking out the Cartels lieutenants by destroying their plants, communications, and convoys.

Gameplay: Ghost Recon Wildlands is an open world third person/First person open world game that pushes co-op, but I prefer to play it by myself that way I am in complete control of myself and my team. The team in this game plays a very big part by aiming at certain enemies to take out at enemy bases that you assign to them; it's not all good though your team can be spotted very easily, at often they take forever getting to a position to get a clear shot on a target, and they sometimes do little support during a gun fight outside of a vehicle. The gameplay is fantastic from customizing your guns anyway you want too, the leveling up perks like your drone, squad, and gadgets, but when you are out there doing the missions and side content it becomes very repetitive after a few regions are cleared but that is ok I find, because it is still a very exciting game you just need to take breaks. Stealth is a very important part of this game when approaching enemies and enemy bases because if you go into a full blazing gunfight you're going to die. Traveling is another thing that has issues all on its own, you can go off road with vehicles but don't let me get stuck on a rock with a dirt bike. The controls with some air vehicles are not great which is unfortunate because I love going as high as I can and jumping out and parachuting.

ConClusion: Ghost Recon is a fantastic game, that unfortunately, you need to take breaks from due to repetitiveness, it reminds me of movies like Act Of Valor or Lone Survivor. Co-op is pushed in this game but is not needed to have a great experience, a great story with good gameplay good but not great due to glitches and technical issues with the driving.

    GhostRecon Wildlands: 7.5/10

PP isn't the best game, but I loved the precision and responsiveness of the controls. With GRW I have to re position myself over and over especially when behind wall cover. Give me a button to press to cover like in GTA not me just pushing on the stick which makes my Ghost looks like his back rubbing the fkn wall like a Grizzly Bear does to a tree.

Not to mention the vehicle controls...they suck. Physics engine sucks. I tried to go full out with a motor bike to see myself fly off like in GTA...you do fly off, but instead of rag dolling you have a scripted way of dying like you've been stabbed in the chest. The helicopter flying...sucks. I got a helicopter with 2 miniguns and you can't even First person to aim it correctly at your target. You just pushing down and spray and pray hope for the best and kill mostly civilians (wow just like real life).

Not to mention the various glitches and bugs but that's standard with Ubisoft games these days. Getting stuck in a hole, if you're not playing MP you have to quit the game. During MP if you're stuck you can fast travel to your team mate.

The only thing great about this game is the MP. Playing with mates is fun, especially the bragging rights of sniper kills and the mockery of the team mate who misses the shot and raises the alarm.

Overall, I'll give this game a 5. I'll probably platinum it before I return it. Ubisoft are really going soft with their games.

    Score Analysis

    Pros

+ 1 large map with lots to do (side missions can be repetitive)
    + 1 Great graphics

    Cons

    - 2 Unrealistics physics on vehicles
    - 1 Countless glitches/bugs and game crashes

This game is just a bunch of side quests on a dead, but beautiful map
this generic drug lord story is so throw away that the game doesn’t even make you bother taking out all of the underbosses and making your way up to the final show down
after killing just 2 targets the game told me I can go kill the final boss right now or continue cleaning up the map
meaning you can literally beat this game in less than 4 hours
it took me a little long because I decided to play online and do the other missions around the map…
missions that in the end don’t really matter.. Cause again, the final boss is right there... drive up to his gates and activate a cut scene, ding... gold trophy...
This is a scary scary indication of what ubisoft plants to do with its lack of narrative focus…
this is let’s play streamer garbage…
the story is forced in this map to trick you into believing this is an actual full-fledged AAA release, buts it’s not
it’s a giant map with weightless vehicles to drive around, 1 garbage radio station because that’s how much ubsioft believed in this title… and a bunch of side missions and collectibles to upgrade your character to do with 3 of your friends for 20 hours.
Missions that are literally the worst kind…
time trials... auto fails if you’re detected... do not kill the target…
    thanks but no thanks…
You can be calculating if you want, taking out binoculars or flying your drone in there, syncing up shots… The gunplay feels nice
but again... with a lack of any true narrative…you don’t feel like you’re working towards anything… you feel like you’re wasting your time... and quite frankly you are…
The games boring, the missions are trash, if you don’t plan on playing with your friends.. Stay away from this garbage…
Ubisoft put no real effort or heart into this at all.

I'm not exactly sure where all of the hate comes from for this game. Maybe they just don't like Ubisoft due to the over exaggerated Watchdogs situation, or maybe Uplay. No idea.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands to me is a lot of fun. I have about 15 to 20 hours into the game, which to today's standard is pretty long. With that time though I haven't even gotten through two of the lower level bosses. I will go down the list of important traits to explain why I like the game so much and give it such a high rating.

Content: Ubisoft did an amazing job of filling this game with stuff to do. Some might complain "it's the same thing over and over" and then go play CoD multiplayer. Whether you're doing a story mission, or going for a weapons crate, the map is filled with icons that represent something you can do, and on top of that you can unlock more by completing interrogations and getting information from informants along the way, granting even more content.

Customization: This is one of the most highly customizable shooters I have ever seen at launch. head gear, tops, bottoms, colors. The only complaint I have is there are only few facial options to choose from, but otherwise the customization is very very good.

Graphics: I play Wildlands on a Ps4 Pro, I have a gaming PC but none of my PC friends are that into shooters. The game looks great on Ps4 Pro in just about every aspect. Ubisoft did a great job in making sure they didn't stick players in the same environments throughout the entire map and were able to nicely design everything from the desert to snowy mountains, and it all looks great.

Bugs: Surprisingly I haven't run into too many bugs so far in the game. I am sure there are plenty, as with most games, just a matter of finding them. No developer is immune to bugs, so I never hold it against a dev unless there's a ton of them, which doesn't seem to be the case.

Co-op: I have only played solo and with one other player. So I can't speak for up to four players, but I have seen some youtube videos of players getting into shenanigans with their friends in four player co-op. To me four player is the ideal way to play, with the difficulty jacked up a bit to really get you into it and thinking on how to complete a mission.

AI: This is an area that I think Ubisoft Paris can improve on. Sometimes the AI just sits in one area, never moving, I have been able to sneak up behind them easily very often and just pop them in the head, and this is after engagement and they have moved to cover. It's as if once they get to cover the code stops and they barely even pop up to shoot. I am hoping with difficulty increases that this changes.

Vehicles: I am a little disappointed that four wheelers aren't in the game, or I at least haven't found one yet. Aside from that I have been pleasantly surprised with how good the driving is for ground vehicles, it's not jerky and driving fast is smooth. The Helicopter isn't hard to drive, but takes some getting used to, as I went in thinking GTA V helicopters. The plane is much like GTA V.

Banter: As a Marine veteran I can appreciate Ubisoft trying to capture the banter between the Ghosts, and it is a much needed part of the game, but I have to admit some of it is so damn cheesy.

Overall I have really enjoyed the game and I think Ubisoft did a great job making a beautiful game that has a lot of content that will keep you busy for a long time, and that's not including any DLC they will release. I definitely recommend you give it a try. I always tell friends who are hesitant with a game to pick it up at a redbox or gamefly it, this way you can get a look for yourself.

Wishlist: Four wheelers, more eccentric character customization options. Missions that require parachuting (there isn't much reason to since the helicopters are plenty and convenient).

Beautiful imagery, awesome solo play and hilarious co-op, I am having a blast. There are a few bugs that need to be hammered out but the amazing foundation has been built. For me, the tactical play is akin to Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield terrorist hunt, except on a massive scale.

I looked forward to this game ever since it was announced but I just can't get into it. If none of your friends have this game then I suggest not picking it up as it was designed for 4 people. Playing on your own (which I am doing) just isn't fun. The driving is the worst and for an open world, driving is very important. The buggy and useless AI teamates are also annoying.

The player customisation is okay but not alot of variety on the face.

The game has a lot of potential but it's held back by bad, really bad physics, bad and boring story, and characters whom act like zombies. Co-Op is the only advantage of the game. Also, it has beautiful graphics but since the game has bad driving, it's useless...

First, they did some things really well. The core game mechanic is stealthy team takedowns of enemy bases, and they really nailed that. Congrats to the team on that.

The biggest problem is how much empty space there is in between the enemy bases. This leads to navigation between missions / game activities feeling slow and boring.

The next big problem is that there aren't enough save points in large story missions. I just finished a mission where the first part was a stealthy takedown of a large base. I spent maybe 20 minutes on it. After taking down the base another part of the mission unlocks: a time-sensitive takedown of a boss somewhere else. I failed that part. And then I had to do the first part all over again. I was wiling to try it once more. But after failing it again, I wasn't willing to try again.

The marketing of the game relied heavily on how large the map was, and how varied the terrain would be. But navigation is so slow (I've never played a game where the helicopters and planes just inch along), and so little seems to happen in the world outside the missions, that I just find myself caring.

I feel like putting in the latest Just Cause, where navigation in an open world is fun, or the latest Assassins Creed, where there's always something fun to do, instead.

This is not the case with Ghost Recon Wildlands. There is no story, Just a premise and the designers expect you to run with that, the only thing resembling a story is the intro you are shown every time you start the game.
The gameplay is less than immersive due to difficult and buggy controls, bad AI, poor command structure, and did I mention bugs?
I get that game design is a long arduous process, but this game is on a pre-Alpha quality level. Last generation's Ghost Recon Future Soldier was of better quality than Wildlands is now.

This is perhaps one of the worst games I've played in recent memory. Not merely bad for a Ghost Recon game, but just a bad game all around. Wildlands lacks the authenticity of previous titles and is chock-full of Ubisoft's political bias, much to the detriment of this latest addition to the Ghost Recon series.

For instance, while the guns in Wildlands appear authentic on the outside, the guns' innards - or what can be considered the innards anyways - are often copy/pasted parts. All the guns feature only one aspect of their inner workings that can be modified, and all contain the same, M4 style, trigger group. In reality the M4 style trigger group can only fit into a few guns, without special modifications, yet every gun is depicted as having this trigger group. And the few trigger variants in the game are just slightly modified versions of the M4 trigger group. Some of Ubisoft's political bias shines even here. Where applicable, all guns in the game feature a "standard" twenty round magazine, and all thirty round magazines are considered "extended." Some might try to make the claim that this was done for balance reasons, however that is not the case. As Ubisoft has flaunted their extensive access to the genuine articles and their adherence to authenticity. Making the decision to reduce the standard magazine capacities purely political. Ubisoft's political leanings, which have become ever more obvious in recent years, is present in other aspects of Wildlands as well. Though not everything negative is politically related.

The AI are just as bad as the innards of the guns. The companion AIs that accompany the player in the campaign are essentially invisible to the enemy. They can walk right up to the enemy AI and remain undetected, in broad daylight no less. The companion AIs are similarly nearsighted, hardly giving a care for the enemy's' field of view. Although it seems they were programmed to generally keep their distance and at great length, to give the illusion of concern for stealth - their faults are revealed as soon as they get close to any enemy. Not to mention the lack of reaction of AI bystanders, to the player's presence. All in all, the AI leave me with the impression that they are mere placeholders for other players.

Speaking of which, some may find their experience in Wildlands to be lacking without additional players, for co-op. Wildlands is always online and each campaign session is open for other players to join, unless expressly forbidden. I suspect if one wanted to play in a private session that the game would remain connected to Ubisoft servers. The always online connection acts as additional protection against pirates, but allows for friends and randoms to connect to a player's game at will - rather than set-up a separate co-op session. This is both a pro and a con. People who may want to play with friends, or randoms, without losing progress in their campaign will enjoy this feature. People who may want to enjoy the campaign on their own, free from the restraints of an always online connection, will loathe it. Unfortunately, I would say co-op is a must in Wildlands. It's the only feature in my opinion saving the game from total mediocrity.

And perhaps nothing is as mediocre as Wildlands' story. I won't spoil anything and only give the impression it left on me. To put it simply, it's horrible. The premise is interesting, go out and destroy the cartel, but the execution leaves something to be desired. The dialogue is cringe-worthy, and such cringe-worthy lines are actually used to set the stage, so-to-speak, at the beginning of the game. Some of Ubisoft's political leanings are either featured or revealed in the dialogue, and unashamedly so. Then there's the ending. Two versions of the endings can be obtained, only one is locked behind a 100% completion rating. The other is the standard ending, which is the one I take issue with. More so than the rest of the story and dialogue, in this ending Ubisoft's political bias is not merely displayed, but is vaunted.

Overall, Ghost Recon Wildlands falls far short of the level of quality and authenticity that is expected of the series. With previous titles, and other Tom Clancy games, Ubisoft had wisely steered clear of politically divisive content. It wasn't until recently, starting with The Division, that I noticed Ubisoft had begun injecting politics into their games. And with For Honor and Wildlands, the trend seems to indicate that their games will become ever more politically driven and alienating. If you're going to play this game it is best enjoyed with friends, and or with randoms if you're good with other people. I wouldn't recommend this game for solo players, unfortunately. If a person is absolutely determined to play this - like, say a die-hard fan of Ghost Recon or Tom Clancy games - it is best to acquire Wildlands at a drastically reduced price. I just wouldn't consider it worthwhile otherwise.

New ubisoft franchises like for honor and the division? Mostly suck... Pretty sad when south park games are your best bet with ubisoft because they are at least kind of funny...

See a trend here fellas? Whenever they do a half way decent job it's "meh" at best. You don't see them pulling a chrono trigger or ocarina of time now do you?

Wild lands is the same ubisoft trash... Remember what crowbcat has proven kids... Ubisoft downgrades. They make their stuff look great at E3 and then deliver trash for the most part or something worse than what was shown. Do any ubisoft games have a 9 or higher on metacritic? I don't think so and even if they do I know it's a low 9. Like I said. This company never wows anyone who has a brain and taste in the gaming world.

Anyways this game blows because it's the division with terrible vehicles, terrible controls, terrible physics, it's online only, it's boring, it's very unrealistic, the servers suck, the open world style is lack luster, Missions are very repetitive, The AI is very stupid etc etc...

The only good thing I can tell is that it has some kool character and weapon customization but hey... This is a video game guys. Not barbies dress up...

I give this trash a 4 out of 10 and that's being generous. Most would give it about a 6 or 7 but most don't have good taste so a 4 is right for the kind of gamer who has good taste and doesn't pull the opinion card like a moron. Opinions aside guys... Facts are facts. A game like Ocarina of time is in fact a great game. A game like big rigs is in fact a totally crappy game. And a game like wild lands is somewhere in between. Ocarina of time factually made with care and great detail. Big rigs was factually not... Wildlands is meh...

It's worth a rental to play for maybe a couple days if you're that bored and one of those morons who likes to support micro transaction games... Other than that. Please... Just pass up this sorry excuse for a video game just like pretty much every game ubisoft rushes out the door. Go play breath of the wild. Go play Horizon. Don't waste your time with trash from ubisoft...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ghost Recon Wildland has the best open world in a game of all time HANDS DOWN, for that reason I'm giving it 10, Breaking it down, the world is amazing, it looks amazing, the detail is of The Witcher 3 standard for an open world map, I'd say even better. This map beats GTAV's although the city in GTAV is still better but everything else is better in this. The graphics are borderline next gen, AMAZING. Now lets talking about the game, well the gameplay is great, a perfect cross between MGSV and GTAV, the combat is almost identicle to MGSV and the driving and flying is again almost identicle to GTAV although I would have prefered the driving to be a little more realistic but it does its job well enough. I'm 25 hours in and I havent even taken out one of the main bosses, I've taken down a few of the bosses below the mains bosses but I was chosing random locations so I have a long way to go, The boss take down is like a lite shadow of Mordor Nemesis system but without consiquences, well at least I think, I have had the world state change on me and rebels actually reminding me things I did in missions. Like MGSV the best way to play the missions is stealth either on single player or Co-op, both are extremely good but single play take a bit of getting used to the AI squad, they really do nothing if you don't give them orders, a bit unrealistic but it makes it more challenging. Co-op is great if you have the right people in your squad, I have seen some unbelievable senarios play out on both Co-op and single player, you simply couldnt script it, it was amazing and this is where i will say, the gameplay tools are so open ended meaning endless serarios can play out and this is where I feel it will divide peoples opinions, some people love script in games where they don't have to think and just let in play out, this game responds to your actions good or bad and anything can go down, this cna frustrated players who love their scripted games and the truth is this game is not for them but there is a hell of alot of missions and a wide variety too I have encountered so far but I still keep descovering something new every now an then. In the beginning I really wasnt sure about the story, yes the main characters are paper thin but the villains are actually pretty good and i have had some surpises in the story I didnt think would be there, I wasn't even asking for it but knowing what type of game this is I was actually impressed this was in the game. It saddens me to see so many rushed reviews where the critics have just skimmed through the game just to get a review out (cough GamSpot, cough Pc Gamer) I don't see Ghost Recon as a flawed game, a young game that needs a bit of age like a fine wine and with a few updates, Ubisoft set out to make an unbelievably ambitious open world shooter and they achieved their goal 100% any complaints critics are having is really down to their own personal taste and rushing through this game to get the review out doesnt give it justice. This game is what I wanted MGSV TPP's openworld to be but that turns out to be a dull boring nothing to do waste land but it has clearly borrowed MGSVs gameplay and that is not a bad thing, thats is what saved MGSV TPP. It does suffer from broken pacing that the developer tries to sell as 'doing everything at your own time in and order you sea fit' while also allowing you to unlock a by the hour helicopter drop off within the firs six hours of playing.

I liked most of this game except the fast traveling because that isn't the point of an open world game and the helicopter controls. The game is pretty and it runs smoothly with minimal bug. If you liked the beta then buy this game, if you didn't you should avoid it Expand

This game looks nice granted but after that most of my observations are somewhat negitive. The map sizes are just too big, ubisoft continues along the bigger the world the better path but when 90% of that world has nothing in it that is a huge problem. Hell alot of the open areas seem to be for show as when you are off the beaten track as such you can basically walk through trees, gates and fences. They are only solid where you might have actual missions in.

The cars are awful to drive, helicopters even worse which was an issue as nearly all the side missions i done basically involved stealing a helicopter or plane. The main missions didnt differ mich either. Go to a place take out the bad guys, take out the head head then on to the next. Do this 10 times and congrats you move on to the next massive province to do the same thing all over again.

I really wanted to enjoy this game because i was a massive fan all the ghost games but like ubisoft of late they had to go all open world on us and for this game i dont think its worked. Over all i found it dull and repetitive. I must state i never bought the game and this review was based on hours of play on both closed and open beta, but for a game that i was generally going to buy based on the older games in the series, i suppose i should thank ubisoft for letting me try before i buy cause if they had not chances are i would of spent 60 quid on a game i wasnt going to enjoy.

I can see this game being fun in co-op with friends granted but i think that too could wear thin after 10 or so hours.

The world is vast and simply gorgeous. Lush, beautiful and diverse. Just driving around, from one mission to the next, with the ever changing weather effects and night-day cycling is an absolute wonder. The varying barrios with villagers have a distinctly South American feel and the chatter of the radio is enjoyable, reminiscent of FC4.

The missions are challenging enough, for me.....an avid, but generally average gamer. Tactical consideration is the way to go and, once I get into the groove of moving around the mission AO's, seeking vantage points to scout enemies and pick off outliers to work my way in to the objective, while mobilizing my squad for sync shots and support...that's when the game absolutely thrums. Superb! I've got the game on hardened (or whatever difficulty is one higher than "regular") and struggle just enough when things go sideways during a stealth mission.....when they often do when I miss a sniper shot or stumble onto an enemy I didn't mark previously. Good stuff!

The gun play is exquisite.....crisp, clean sounds with visual signatures that make for a satisfying experience overall. Customization is cool and relies on actually getting out and searching to discover components amidst the world instead of simply a level-up progression system based on XP.

Wheeled vehicles are functional, and sort of fun. They have some nice traction physics, lending to sliding around on the dirt/muddy roads. Not exactly Dirt Rally, but interesting at least. The helicopter and, especially, the plane controls are a little hinky, and take some getting used to. There's something weird going on with the forward motion control with heli's that I can't figure out...maybe an underlying glitch that needs resolving.

Now, to the story...which, I presume, is the issue at hand with respect to what's considered lacking from many critics' perspective. The story itself is not that involved. There's a multifaceted drug cartel and a special ops unit dedicated to taking it down, piece by piece. Character development is just not that important to what drives the game forward, IMO. I would say that, if you need a heart-felt story and depth of characterization to flesh out your gaming experience, you may want to look elsewhere. For me, the story itself takes a distant back-seat to the tactical gameplay, which is loads of fun. I don't care about the individual lives of each of the squad....but I do care about how they function tactically amidst the missions. So, to me in a game like this, the most important component in the overall fun-factor equation is the gameplay itself. And GR Wildlands has that in spades, from where I'm standing. I'm only into my third province and, given the huge scope of the map with all the myriad things to do, and the enormous boss tree I have left to work my way through, I'll be enjoying this game for many, many hours to come!

I'm confused by the average score, as I have really been enjoying this game so far, albeit only about 5 hours in..

I can appreciate that solo play may get frustrating. It helps to think of this as a co-op game with the option of single player there for anyone who hasn't got people to play online with, or doesn't want to play online with others. This for me is a nice touch, but the fun

I can appreciate that solo play may get frustrating. It helps to think of this as a co-op game with the option of single player there for anyone who hasn't got people to play online with, or doesn't want to play online with others. This for me is a nice touch, but the fun here is playing with friends and the carnage/hilarity that ensues when things go wrong, and the sense of achievement when things go right.

Yes the driving mechanics are unrealistic, but I understand I'm not playing a driving simulator, and with that said, it's fun driving at full speed down the side of the mountain rather than driving along dirt rounds for ages or having to restart constantly because you've rolled the car and killed your team. My driving 'skills' are an ongoing joke between us, including when I got jammed between two rocks and no one could get out the car. I regret nothing. To me it is a fun element of the game which doesn't need to have 100% realism, in the same way I don't want drive the speed limit, stop at traffic lights, or go to a rest stop so my characters can take a piss.

The graphics have also been criticised. I think the graphics are actually quite impressive for a console game. If I was bothered by having the best graphics and frame-rates then I'd buy a PC, but I'm not, I want the convenience of booting up my console after work and logging onto a game that's fun, tactical but also has arcade-like elements which make the game fun and accessible to more casual gamers.

Unless a game is flawless it will always get mixed reviews because of the price point of all games usually being the same, regardless of quality. Yes, Horizon Zero Dawn is INCREDIBLE, but it is a completely different game. If you play single player and prefer a story then buy it first and pick this up when the price comes down, or if you want to play a tactical game online with your friends rather than a story driven one.

Furthermore, the map is HUGE. Not every part of it can be a mission, but even so, there are TONS of things to do. Yes it may get repetitive after a while, but I find this with 99% of games. The Last of Us being one of the best games I've ever played, but it still had to end sometime given it being a story driven game. Of course I'll replay it, but after dozens of hours I'm sure that it would eventually get repetitive as well, but it doesn't make it a bad game.

I'm hoping Ubisoft fix some issues like the impenetrable chain link fences (even with C4) and being spotted if you miss a shot miles away from your target, but with every negative there are several positive elements to it. Its the most fun I've had on an online game in a long time, and it's really satisfying to plan your missions with your friends, including bailing out of a helicopter to infiltrate a base, only to accidentally grenade a fuel tank and cause utter chaos and have to rethink your approach.

Is the game perfect? No. Is the game worth £50? Probably not. Is it a fun game you can play for hours on end with your mates and almost completely forget about the problems with it? in my opinion - undoubtedly.

I usually don't bother with reviewing games but I felt like this needed balancing out as I think an average of 5.8 doesn't seem fair given how much fun I'm having with the game.

This is all down to opinion and personal preference, so this is me throwing in my two cents. If you're still on the fence then watch some videos online that showcase the key elements of the game and then make your mind up.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands excels in the sheer size of it and has a ton of content which offers you and your friends endless possibilities and lots of fun. The gameplay, on the other hand, is often repetitive, which causes the game to be just a little less than fantastic.
