It’s quickly becoming my favorite first-person shooter of the year, thanks to its impressive landscape, captivating storyline and fully customizable characters. The short list of negatives pale in comparison its highlights. All and all, Ghost Recon: Wildlands delivers and should easily be a contender for 2017’s best first-person shooter, if not best game. It’s magnificent, unique, and certainly worth your time.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands proves that Ubisoft has taken what they have learned from all of their previous titles and used it to work for the future. There are noticeable aspects from Rainbow Six, The Division, Assassin's Creed and Far Cry all at work here without ever making Ghost Recon feel like a copy. What may be lacking in the single player elements of the game are made up for over and over again when playing with friends. If you are on the fence about getting this to join with your buddies, bite that bullet and grab this game up. If you don’t have an online connection or anybody to play with, maybe hold off and catch it when it goes on sale.

Despite the generic setting, and an over-abundance of Ubisoft-style menus, levels, and statistics, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands is a fun, tactical, engaging shooter with plenty of depth and good AI. The freedom and nature of the open-world mission approach, while familiar to Far Cry and Phantom Pain fans, allows for some truly creative tactical experiences and enjoyable gameplay moments. Stable matchmaking and the random nature of human players make the co-op a blast as well.

Wildlands is a fun sandbox open-world shooter from Ubisoft Paris with a massive amount of content that is best experienced with other players in its seamless drop-in, drop-out four-player co-operative multiplayer mode.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is a fun romp in a huge world that allows you tackle each encounter in as tactical or non-tactical manner as you please. Your fellow players are what bring this game to life, so best not look at this as a single-player experience.

It feels like such a painstakingly created world could have hosted a more interesting and considered exploration of its themes. As it is, Wildlands is a vast, pretty and militaristic playground for friends to charge around in. And at that, you cannot deny its potency.

Wildlands is a bad fu.king game -- it completely fails at everything it aspires to be. It's a bad co-op game, it's a bad shooter, it's a bad open-world game, and the writing is terrible. At best, the game is boring. At worst, it's frustrating. I suppose the visuals are worthy of some praise, but you can just look at screenshots for free. I cannot recommend Ghost Recon Wildlands to anyone, unless you're directly related to someone on the development team. If that is the case, by all means, support your family! Everyone else: stay away.

I had read peopleBeen playing since it went live solo, I do plan to play coop down the road, but I wanted to let people know solo is great. I had read people hating on A.I. during beta, but just put a couple early skill points in sync shot and it works great. The stealth and sprawling open world, the banter of your teamates really make for an immersive experience. I feel like this game took the best aspects of far cry, division and watchdogs and threw out the crap. I have no regrets on this purchase, and I doubt fans of shooters, stealth and open world games will either. Expand

It's better than Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, GTA, and Just Cause as it combines and improves on EVERYthing that those games are known for which is perfectly fine with me. After all, the saying does go: imitation is the purest form of flattery.

Good: 1) EVERYthing is customizable (uniforms, paints/patterns, patches, and EVERY part of the weapons)
    2) 5 character save slots (great for me with 4 teenage sons)
    3) Squad controls are genious AND very timely in firefights

Bad: 1) No control binding for selecting "crouch" since there is "soft cover" which means the character goes into cover just by approaching something that could technically act as cover.*

*Even listing this as a "bad" feature of this game is really a technicality as Ubisoft most likely didn't have room in the controller layout to fit the cover option. Finding yourself with too much of a good thing shouldn't be bad.

Long story short: this game is awesome. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I feel that no one can complain that they feel cheated in buying this game since the beta gave them the opportunity to try it out. That said, the beta convinced me to not purchase it. I had high hopes for Ghost Recon Wildlands, and honestly, I thought the beta would help me in deciding whether to go ahead and purchase the Gold version with all the planned DLC. Wow. Talk about disappointment. This has been described as a mash-up of Far Cry 4 and The Division? I have the full DLC of both of those game and love both. Ghost Recon Wildlands is a far weaker version of either. The landscape, while looking absolutely gorgeous, has no substance. You can literally drive straight through bushes, plants, large trees, mostly everything except unlevel terrain, exactly as you would empty fields. Until you get to a spot where there is supposed to be action, and then WHAM! even the smallest fence brings your vehicle to a dead stop. I just drove through a massive tree and yet a tiny wooden fence is an impenetrable barrier? Otherwise, for the most part, driving land based vehicles is pretty decent - I especially like the controls. Helicopters are another story and feel like cars in the air.
The AI feels like it cheats. It has a detection meter but it feels inconsistent. I realize in real life that random things happen that affect whether you might be seen, but even if I grant that to the AI, it just seems phony. Sometimes it is so easy to get seen and other times I can waltz around like an idiot without so much as a glance by the bad guys. Seems slightly pre-scripted. And then several dozen bad guys immediately show up. From where? I just spent 20 minutes circling the place and yet it only took 20 seconds from being detected for 4 vehicles full of baddies to arrive. Sigh.
Finally, this is mostly a shooting game. You gotta get that right and they didn't. I like the little bob and sway when moving the gun side-to-side, but that pretty much ends my list of positives. Both Far Cry 4 and The Division had far better shooting. No real ability to use cover either. And the sync shot gimmick and in the entire process of handling the other team members is annoying and useless anyway. Maybe it would be better with 4 real live players but in single player mode it is not worth the effort.
I had such high hopes. Thank you, Ubisoft, for allowing the beta to demo your product. Honestly, it was the deciding factor between scoring your game a 6 rather than a 5.

My biggest gripes: The enemies know where you are the second you fire a bullet. Its not realistic whatsoever, obviously should be alerted but to be able to pinpoint you right away? come on now

Also, the driving is miserable. This wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't for the fact that every mission is a 10 minute drive minimum away from the last. So you have to spend a lot of time with the **** driving controls. I would take the division over this any day. Of the last few Ubi games i would put them The Division>Wildlands>WatchDogs2. If your bored this isn't a bad game, but if you have any other somewhat interesting games you will quickly find yourself leaving this one to play them.
