Nov 3, 2014Thief would have been a great game 10 years ago. The gameplay and graphics are extremely outdated and the whole thing feels like an alpha build of Dishonoured. There is nothing enticing within the game to keep you playing, don't believe the apologists.

Mar 8, 2015I can't recommend this game. Half of it is interesting and well done, but the cutscenes don't connect to the gameplay well, they are poorly animated, and the main character is boring. The voice acting is mediocre and Garrett appears to not care at all about anything that happens in the whole game which makes it hard as a player to enjoy it.

Nov 22, 2014To be honest this game isn't the best, there was little to no combat so when u get seen, you are pretty much forced to run away for some time until you lose them. Also, bad voice acting kinda ruined my experience with the game. There was only really 1 memorable chapter.

Mar 5, 2014This game itself is not a bad game but at the same time it isn't a superb game. It is a decent game, well developed, storyline is predictable, progressions is 100% linear and the game experience isn't thought-provoking. The entertainment value from start to finish is mediocre. It covers nothing original in terms of gameplay and it barely does in the areas where it can be proud of.
-
Mar 14, 2014Repetitive game play, bad AI and terrible story (not to mention the ending). Most levels felt restrictive to how the developers want me to solve it, not how I would have solved it. The game map is unusable and most puzzles feel like a chore filled with annoyance. Also, the companion app is 1.99!
-
Mar 15, 2014A very disappointing game. It tries to be dishonored but fails. I was really looking forward to thief stealing my heart but in the end it only stole my wallet.
-
May 30, 2014If I had to describe Thief in one sentence, that would be: "Well made, but boring"
Thief is a good paced stealth game, but it is not fun to play, which saddened me a lot considering I was a fan of the original Thief. Nice value, with lots of quests and loot to find in The City, but a game must be fun to play, and honestly this game isn't. -

Mar 15, 2014The stealth in the game is good but the game suffers from a poorly exectuted plot, uninteresting characters too much load screens, gimmicky touchpad controls and some framerate issues.

Jul 4, 2014At first I really was enjoying thief but as I progressed thru the game it became a chore and soon got boring. Too much rinse and repeat, it looks good and the controls are satisfactory but the game just isn't as enjoyable as I wanted it to be.
Not as must buy but worth picking up when the price for it drops really low. -
Jul 17, 2014Out of all thief franchise this one is the worst! Mediocre mail plot with cartoon characters. But it is also one of the best stealth game of the year with multiple ways to complete your objective! It is a must own for stealth fans
-
Mar 4, 2014A game that had great ideas but all of them were poorly executed. Overall a playable game, but very broken in many of the mechanics it tried to adopt from other games.

Mar 7, 2014First of all this game is waste of money, if u would by it, dont do that.
Game is very very boring, you can`t **** jump where you want, you can`t play what you want, you only can do what developers conceived. "Thief 2014" isn`t good old Thief... -

Feb 28, 2014Thief is a fun game. There are issues with the game. Annoying load times story sucks. But if your playing a stealth game for the story then maybe you should play another genre. No jumping does suck. But the game is still fun and isn't that all that matters

Feb 28, 2014This game looked meh, to begin with. The only reason brought it is because I am a PS4 owner and it is the only new game out at the moment. I thought it would tide me over until Infamous second son. Well no its on ebay already. The game oozes with just average everything, game-play, story. So just be patient and get a game that is worth your time.

Mar 3, 2014ot a overall bad game, but it is short and not really developed as much as they hyped it up to be. The depth of the game is something that really bugged me because they really was not as much depth as I was expecting. Overall scores:
-Gameplay: 6/10
-smoothness: 7/10
-Story: 6/10
-depth: 5/10
-controls: 5/10
-appearance: 7/10

Mar 4, 2014After playing it, I have to say that "Thief" is a good and funny stealth game but nothing more. It´s so sad, that you as a player see so much mistakes during the game which could be erased by a little more polishing. I hope that the creators get another chance to deliver a fantastic sequel.
+ Stealth parts, atmosphere, story
- Level design, AI, Graphics (next-gen) -
Mar 10, 2014I read the early reviews and ignored some frustrating aspects about this game. But on the ps4, above par graphics, and an emotional tie to the missing heroine compels me to keep playing. Good stealth title if you treat it as one. The only real payoff of streaming is that you get to stare at your treasures.
-
Mar 10, 2014This game did a really good job of making me feel like a thief and got me into the stealth genre. You can choose how to handle each mission which made me feel like I had a sense of control. However the load times when the game switches from area to area were kinda long it made Thief feel like it came out a couple years ago instead of a few weeks.
-
Mar 21, 2014It's a good game but the world and its stories are poorly realised meaning your time is mainly spent going through the motions. A little more thought on the story and side quests could have saved it from some nasty backlash from long time fans, but it's still worth your money for an alternative stealth-em-up till Metal Gear 5.
-
Mar 23, 2014I did enjoy this, technically an impressive game in some nice environments but maybe moreso as my first real taste of next gen dazzle! ..however once the crappy ending arrived it dawned on me yes; stories in games are indeed now almost as important a feat as the gameplay and build. I am as caught between a 6 or 7 as most!

Jul 21, 2014Not very innovative, but a decent stealth game overall. The best part about the game is being able to steal anything you want and you truly feel like a thief. During missions the level design can be very linear and straightforward at times. However, you are rewarded for finding hidden secrets and solving puzzles. It's a simple yet fun action-stealth game but it does have its flaws. 7.5/10

Nov 21, 2014SquareEnix fixed art style of many old franchise, also with Thief.
Graphics are poor, cutscenes runs at 10fps, unimportant story.
Stealth is cool but the real star of game is art and atmosphere. -

Jan 20, 2017I like action-stealth games and this one too. You can choose a style of the game. Thief has an acceptable variability in gameplay. In my opinion this game is really good. But old Thiefs is more better.

Jul 11, 2022I thought this game will be repetitive and boring, but no. It has a nice campaign and it is not as bad as i thought it will be. Now in 2022 you can buy it cheap, so it's worth it...

Jan 16, 2021Sure it isn't groundbreaking or the best stealth game nor the best thieves. The game is disappointing for thief fans and other gamers and I can see why. It has a lot of wasted ideas and sure it could had been better but it was for me a good enough introduction to the franchise and made me like the original better

Mar 26, 2014The biggest problem for this game is every stealth game that has come since Thief: the Dark Project. Thief can’t match the visual flair and supernatural powers of Dishonored. It doesn’t have the lean efficiency and murderous creativity of the Hitman series; it trails the razor’s edge stealth and gadget lust of Splinter Cell; it lacks the vision and bombast of the Metal Gear series. Hell, it doesn’t even have a very good thief.
-
Mar 21, 2014The return of the master thief Garrett is a mixed bag. Thief builds on its series proud heritage of tactile stealth, focusing on realism but loses some of the way to modern design trends. Thief has some unnecessary padding that smooth out the gameplay as well as some cinematic ambitions that do not reach all the way. Above all, it is plagued by qualitative valleys that appear to be a result of a stressed launch. Nevertheless, Thief gets a weak recommendation because the basic formula is still fun and somewhat unique.
