The Wolf Among Us on the PS4 is a magnificent re-release that fans should enjoy. If you haven’t played it yet then add the game to your “to-play” list immediately.

The first and last episodes remain some of Telltale’s finest work, helping anchor a dark, involving narrative. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s a chain- smoking, bourbon-drinking pig. What more do you want? [January 2015, p79]

If you missed out on The Wolf Among Us, now is a good time to enjoy the entertaining fairy tale crime story in all its glory, and on PlayStation 4 technically better than on the old systems.

Despite some niggling concerns, The Wolf Among Us is well worth the budget price attached to both digital and physical versions.

It's a triumph of tight plotting, wild imagination, and sure-handed direction. It's a game that never flinches in taking its story and its chain-smoking protagonist everywhere it can.

This is still a great game, but it’s not the polished up final product that you may have been hoping for.

Like a Netflix marathon you'll be completely absorbed and play one episode after another.

The Wolf Among Us is based on the comic book 'Fables' from Vertigo, created by Bill Willingham. The true strength of the game is that they have drawn from a rich universe and crafted a believable and fantastic world. Despite being based on childrens 'fables' (which include some stark reimaginings of Disney characters) the tone of the game is consistently dark. It focuses on the daily struggles of an underclass, on the fringes of society, who find themselves out of money, in trouble with the law and turning to criminal means to get by. It also explores themes of governance and welfare and the choices presented to the player through dialogue options and the actions of your character, both big and small, genuinely challenge the player to think about these issues and empathise with each character.

The graphic style is similar to that of 'The Walking Dead' game released by Telltale but is far more colourful and vivid. It is the closest a game has come to looking like an interactive comic.

The game is fantastic value for money considering that it will run you half of what other new PS4 titles cost and I guarantee you will get more out of it. The choices you make and the characters you interact with will stay with you after the final episode is played out.

Quick background on me the reviewer, I tend to like single player games that is heavy on narrative the most. I also play a lot of racing games and use to play multiplayer games in my high school days but now that it's hard for me and my friends to find a good time to link up so now I hardly play any. Up to try any genre of games and sometimes I find something new that I didn't think I'd like. I play on every platform but prefer PlayStation.

This was my first Telltale game that I played and just recently replayed it a week ago. Love this fairy tale murder mystery. I want more of it.
