Very well crafted. Increadible graphics, optimized for pc.
The main quest could have been 20% shorter, though.
The game is more a choose-you-own adventure, and it explores the human condition through substance abuse, greed, fear, exploitastion. This isn't really a sandbox, crafty, do-whatever-you-want game. I've read the books and played the previous games and for me the game was great

    The good:
Graphics are amazing, especially considering the size of this game and its world.
Vast number of characters offering something new and entertaining to the story.
    Soundtrack is amazing.
Story is one of the best of 2015 and in my opinion the best in any RPG to date.
Great RPG elements that affect the overall story.
Hugh world that has a place and environment for everyone.
Tons of side quest and missions to keep you entertained for hours.

    The bad:
With all the content, some might feel overwhelmed. However, I think most RPG fans will love the amount of content offered.

This is a most own game for any RPG fan and one that shouldn't be looked over. If your still having doubts about buying this game, then due your research and you will realize what everyone else is trying to tell you. "It's a must buy!"

Perfection come true! I've never played something with such detail, the graphics are spectacular, I think it's the only game that can proudly say that is next-gen. The soundtrack is also impressive, as the voiceover, I have never felt so immersed in a game.

It's great what they have worked out this game from CD Projekt RED, there's no reason why it shouldn't the game of the year... Oh wait! It already is!

What I liked most is the endless possibilities you have when you interact with NPCs, the way it affects the evolution of history and the world around you, so that none is the right or wrong choice, all are viable and have their own reason for being in the course of things.

The main line of the game follows the previous titles, but you can play it without having played The Witcher I or II, which is my case.

It is a vast world full of bloody history and creatures to hunt, you never run out of tasks and secondary missions to do that's for sure, in any case you will have problems to finish everything, because its a game that delivers hundreds of gameplay hours if you decide to complete it. You even have a card board minigame that you will must collect if you want to go platinum; there are people who find it boring, but I enjoyed it pretty much.

Like any open world game, you'll find glitches here and there, but that's normal considering how immensely big it is, you do not get the picture of the scale of the map until you start playing! Roach controls are a bit squishy, but still you just get used to it.

I'm looking forward to the second DLC (I've already completed Hearts of Stone), Blood and Wine, to dive once again into this fascinating world that CD Projekt RED has given us, I'm glad to see there are still developers who know how to make videogames!

No doubt this is one of the games that I'll remember for many years when it comes to compare future releases of the genre, and it will be a difficult task to stand up next to The Witcher 3.

Good game. Good middle ages atmosphere with a little fantasy thrown into it. Like the variety and sandbox. Lots to do and explore. Wished they made swimming not as annoying/frustrating as it is. Weird controls. It doesn't always do what you press. Besides that no real flaws except for some minor bugs/glitches.

The only reason I am giving it 5 stars is because the Witcher is generally a good game, but this game is a cookie-cutter. Fairly boring RPG elements. Story that tries way too hard to make you care. Graphic and mature content that adds nothing to the value of the game or the story. Bland combat that is the exact same as the game from two titles ago in the series.

The game itself is beautifully realized; visually I can safely say it is one of the best examples of a true next/current generation game. With amazing lighting and fairly spot on textures, although a little rough around the edges at times, it has maintained a solid and consistent frame rate for me. Character modelling is very good, animations are nice and facial modelling is also very good. Enemy detailing is also very nice and some bosses have their own unique 'skins' if you will, allowing them to stand apart from their lesser compatriots. Monster design on a whole is unique and feels fresh; the creators not afraid to make up their own creatures as opposed to using set models the likes of which are usually featured in this type of game.

Gameplay on a whole is very good from my point of view, even playing on normal difficulty there is a good level of challenge to be expected, as described by one CD Projekt Red employee: "it's on a scale between Skyrim and dark souls" with some of the harder difficulty levels edging closer to the dark souls side of the spectrum. Supplemented by a vast amount of lore and tying in very nicely with the in game bestiary; the crafting system plays a vital role in the game. If you are to beat the harder enemies in the game you are going to want to take advantage of the knowledge you acquire in order to craft potions and oils; to aid in your fight and these can often mean the difference between living to tell another day, or ending up as lunch for an angry werewolf.

The writing side of the dice slightly lets the game down; with the main story feeling slightly typical and in no way too unique (this is mostly personal opinion) however it does not detract from the fact that it is above average in the story department. Side quests have equal depth however and some are very memorable and some unique moments arise from wondering off the beaten path, just try not to go too far down it at lower levels, or you'll get smacked back to the starting area so hard you'll probably turn the PlayStation off and cry in the corner, wondering how you can be so bad at this game (it's not you, it's not an easy game and this definitely DID NOT happen to be when playing on Death March mode)

Overall, I would say a solid effort from a seemingly small company, they have outdone many larger companies with this game, not to shy of being a masterpiece, this game is definitely a must for any RPG fan.

For an open world rpg game, the level up system is not as good as Fallout 4, however the mutagens offer some interesting power increases. Card game is fun, but nothing epic. I do appreciate the effort that went into creating such a mini-game in-world.

Game difficulty is a breeze once the game mechanics are competently understood, but that can take a few levels so Death March was hard and challenging at first, but then became quite average, if not easy. I think you will have to weigh dying and waiting for reloading times versus challenge factor and see what is most fun for you.

Overall, I had a blast playing this game and am yet to find something better for the 2015 year.

The voice acting is pretty good (it took me a bit to get over geralt sounding like batman though). The body languange and facial expressions are what make interacting with people so good though. Sometimes I felt like I was watching a movie instead of playing a game.
This game has some serious glitches though an elusive gwent card glitch make it nearly impossible to get the "collect em all trophy" making a platinum sometimes completely impossible. There is quest where you get locked into a dungeon and seriously your only way out is using a different glitch. The horse mechanics are kinda clunky. Sometimes I sheathe my sword in the middle of battle which can get really frustrating. This happens a lot when I'm fighting humanoid creatures like dongs and monsters at the same time and have to switch between swords. Well sometimes I sheathe one and never pull out the other. I've had quests that don't complete the way they should too.
That being said this game is freaking so fun. I absolutely loved the gwent side game what a blast. I wish fallout 4 were half as good as this game..... or if walmart had a better return policy on video games but thats for a different rant. If you haven't played this game you need to it's the most enjoyable single player experience I've had on a nextgen console. Lastly you can't go wrong when you put in a pair (or a hundred) of real ta tas lol. Honestly this title must have put the ESRB through the ringer. The gameplay is weird but action packed, it's better to play in the hardest modes otherwise it becomes too easy in mid game. Each enemy fights differently and forces you to use different tactics which is great.

The crafting game could have been better, they have tons of stuff to craft but I found that making the standard equipment was enough, and consumables are crafted once and they refill when sleeping which was a let down.

Great features compared with other games:

    - Forced male character without face customization and great voice acting (great, it's more immersive).
    - The character is not an emo, nor a chosen one, is not superman either.
    - The character may be a cheater depending on player choices.
    - The other characters all have different and clear personalities.
    - Best characters animations and modeling so far.
    - Best book adaptation I've ever seen.
    - Best horseback riding experience so far compared to Skyrim, DA-I, TERA.
    - Very large and open world and you can go anywhere at almost any level (some monsters cannot be killed at low level).
    - Very long and entertaining story.
    - Optional quests are not the typical "kill 8 boars" type. Instead they are of the detective type with clues you have to find.
    - Nice card subgame Gwent which is optional.

Things that could have been better:

    - The talent system is somewhat limited, there are several talents that are not very useful.
    - Crafting could be improved.
    - The filler NPC characters faces tend to get repeated often.
    - Limited replay incentive.

I think it's fair to say that the Western open-world genre has become quite formulaic over the years. Yet, with The Witcher 3, developer CD Projekt Red proves that it's still possible to have a seriously amazing experience without necessarily innovating the genre's tried-and-true foundations.

The game puts you on the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, a witcher (monster hunter) who roams the Northern Realms in search of Cirilla, his foster daughter, who is being chased by a supernatural army called the Wild Hunt. Having not played any of the previous titles, I found myself initially intimidated by the storyline background; luckily, the game's tale is written in such a way that you can mostly ignore the finer details of Geralt's previous sagas if you want to.

The story itself is likely to please fantasy fans. It is a fittingly epic tale which uses the invasion of the Northern Realms by the southern Nildgaardian empire as a background, and it's reasonably fun and interesting. It does have its fair share of clichés and at least a couple of significant dei ex-machina (I'm looking at you, Dudu the Doppler) that render it hard to be taken entirely seriously as a piece of adult-oriented storytelling, however.

In his adventure, Geralt roams several open spaces through the Northern Realms. The landscapes look absolutely gorgeous, filled with impressive lighting effects and extremely detailed textures. One of my favorite aspects of the setting is how it mixes traditional fantasy with a bit of horror, leading to some pretty scary enemies and scenarios, but without resorting to cheap jump-scares.

There is a lot of ground to cover in the several open-world environments, with numerous towns, villages, sidequests and hidden secrets to keep you busy. Roaming the land in search of experience and loot is extremely satisfying, thanks in good part to the intuitive controls and the fluid action (no, there's not a single quick-time event to tell of, thank you very much). Like any good RPG, there are also extensive options to craft and/or buy gear, weapon, potions and assorted items, which manage to be intricate without getting overwheming.

There is only one significant deviation from this formula: gwent, a simple strategy card game, played by Geralt and several NPCs, in which you amass an army (represented by separate character cards) and control the weather to defeat opponents. As basic as it is, it's a surprisingly addictive little diversion, and sometimes I found myself setting the main adventure aside just to wind off against NPCs and win new cards.

Basically, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt plays brilliantly, looks gorgeous, and offers dozens upon dozens of hours for you to lose yourself in its very appealing brand of horror-tinged fantasy. With its compelling world, an equipment/potion/addon system that is deep yet easy to grasp, and a set of main quest missions that doesn't try to break its own boundaries in annoying ways, you have one of the best releases of the year for fans of epic adventures.

First of all the story telling in this game is one of the best I have ever experienced. The main story is very good paced. The Baron quest line is one of the best in RPG games ever. The story is so full of emotions, tough decisions and twists. Every quest has a story and a background and always two or sometimes even more ways to end it.
The World of the Witcher is vast and rich with encounters, NPC and more. You got big cities, small villages, forts and ruins to explore. Caves and mountain tops to discover. Yes it has zones it's not one big open world game but one thing in it what is amazing. No loading screens. Enter a cave? A house? A City? A castle? No loading screen! This is how you should do it.
Combat is very fluid and you can do it how you want it. Sword fighting, signs (aka magic), potions, traps and bombs. Fast and sneaky or slow and tanky? You can play it how you want it.
There is a lot more equipment and upgrades then in previous games. Swords, axes, crossbows and a lot of different armor parts to chose from. You have different armor sets that are tied in to quests and give you some back story to different Witcher schools.
Graphic wise Witcher 3 is the best looking game in 2015 period. Yes on PC it requires a powerful machine but on console you still get a medium to high experience. The game just looks beautiful. The character models, the landscape and weather effects. Lightning effects and shadows are amazing. And every zone has its own look and feel to it.
All and all a great game and one of the best RPG in gaming history. The best game of this year by a mile.

Frankly, the best next gen title, if not one of the best games of all time. The people who rate poorly? They are the ones who don't want to admit that Fallout 4 is not going to win GOTY and will lose even to Tomb Raider, Bloodborne and even SWB. Witches 3 is going to hands down win GOTY.

    Why?

For one: the detail. Every single NPC in the world, right down to their tiny animations, is believable, realistic, with thousands of tiny conversations going on that make the game feel like a real, living, breathing world. "Oh but don't let yourself be distracted by the polish (polish, not Polish)."

Two, the music is top notch. I am amazed by the beauty and passion put into the music.
"Oh, but good music doesn't make a good game."

Third, the graphics. Every single piece of the world is crafted with such care I spent hours upon hours just looking at the detail. The light catching on blowing trees, tiny little details in the herbs that you can pick, the amazing detail in the armor, the blowing fur in their cloaks, Geralt's hair.
("Oh, but graphics don't make a good game... hurrdurrrrr Fallout 4").

Fourth, voice acting and script. Top notch and emotional. The baby scene was literally the most traumatizing thing I've ever experience in gaming. ("Oh, but having hundreds of voice actors and tens of thousands of written lines acted out perfectly with PERFECT animations and timing and even emotion conveyed through animated eyes, doesn't make a good game.")

Fifth, the sound design. Absolutely perfect. ("Oh, but having sound design that is Hollywood blockbuster tier doesn't make a good game.")

Sixth, character development. Top tier. ("Oh, but Geralt's voice is boring. Why is an American in medieval Europe?")

Seventh, world design. Massive, massive, massive, detailed, incredible.

Eighth, gameplay. For the intelligent player who can literally decide how he wants to play. Want to just hypnotize your enemies and let them kill everyone for you? Or want to just knock them all to the ground and stab them while they're laying there? Maybe you'd prefer to learn the difficult but perfectly developed combat system to become a master swordsman?

This is a 10/10 game, if I've ever played one. Play this, not Failout 4.

Any criticism leveled at this game is really off the mark... there's no way anyone who has played this game with an objective mindset could say that there's something wrong with it. I spent 300 hours in the game looking for problems, and I couldn't find any other than the flying body glitch (fixed), a small sound glitch when you first attacked with your sword, and some other tiny minor things.

Fantastic open world RPG. It has an enthralling story that really pushes you to just play it. You have this intense drive to play the game, it's great. The game does have some technical issues, and the combat isn't that great, but if you can look past those faults I suggest picking this gem up.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I rate the game a 4.5/10. This game is the worst of the Witcher series. The graphics, are outstanding, but besides that, this feels like an assassins creed game. It has been done before... The story could of been of been outstanding, but was just average. 'Whoreson Jnr' and the 'Baron's wife' were atrocious stories, and Roach (The Horse) and Crossbow, cheapened Geralt's image. Finally, what is with beards, for game heroes? Do you play as an old man? Come on, this game has its moments, but was no where near as good as the hype. Witcher 2 is much better, just not bigger! Expand

I wasn't the biggest fan of the combat at the time and felt that the multiple aspects had a hard time transitioning to the console. However after having a drought in games to play I decided to jump into Witcher 3 a few months after launch, and it was the biggest mistake I could have made because I should have got it on Day 1. Even before inserting the disc into the game I was greeted with an insert from the developer thanking me for giving there a game a chance by purchasing it. Never before have I as a consumer, in any form of entertainment or product, felt that the people who worked on something truly valued the support I was giving them. But back to the game itself. For whatever reason I decided to play the game on the hardest difficulty, which I completely recommend of anyone whose played any open world game or rpg like Skyrim or Red Dead, and was pretty much stopped in my tracks by any horde of enemies. However the most pleasure from this game is in the preparation required to defeat enemies using such as signs, potions and oils to defeat enemies. Overcoming a hard boss that you've prepared for or finishing a long string of quests to unfold more of the story in Witcher 3 brings more excitement then I've ever felt for a game before, and that's because of the incredibly detailed open world rivaling the likes of The Elder Scrolls and Grand Theft Auto. Even the mini game of Gwent has become a phenomenon in itself and I feel heavily compelled to play every npc in this card game just so i can get access to new rare cards, an online component would have been amazing, but a separate game such as on the app store, the PlayStation store or Xbox marketplace would be an instant purchase for me. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is a 10 out of 10 for me, its a beautifully detailed open world rpg that deserves a look. Expand

    - It's big - but this also leads to some of the cons.
    - lots of gear - but again this leads to a con

    Cons
    - Combat is clunky. Some RPG games have smooth flowing fight animations, but apart from the odd death blow, Witcher does not fell like i am playing an experienced expert fighter, but a grunt with a sword. Certainly nothing cool in a fight.
    - Combat is boring, the spells are while useful and necessary, competely dull. After a little while, you'll use pretty much only 2 spells(Fire and shield) and both are ..meehh.
-Swords - I change swords to get a magical upgrade. How the hell do I know that has happened. If I change swords, then make it noticeable I have changed. Give it a different moveset, make the sword look different. Make me excited when I change to a new sword, especially if It is one I've spent hours collecting materials to build. It's dull.
    - herbs - OMG, I know a lot of games where you can collect herbs, but this is ridiculous! This is not an MMORPG where I am going to expect to be playing it in 2 years time. It's a game with a start-mid and end, I do not wish to have to waste my life looking for stupid herbs.
    - inventory management is terrible. things clumped together in meaningless groups. Very small inventory screen with difficult to read stats/names/amounts.
    - General movement - no fluidity. In one scene you have to get into a burning building save the horses and the people and get out in a very short time frame, but trying to jump over a burning barrel takes precious seconds to do. Just one example where movement is clunky.
    - Interactions - Looting is the biggest here. when looting you have to be at specific angles to loot a body or a plant. stand on to of it, and you can't, stand next to it at the wrong angle you can't. it'sincredibly frustrating. Other examples is the burning building again. you have to interact with several doors to release the horses, but while you know you are close enough to do the interaction the engine does not recognise it. This kind of function is paramount to a game with Soooo much looting and interaction, so it should work.
    - Load times - Die and it take several minutes to load my last save, move to a new area, several minutes. Reminds me of Fallout New Vegas, where you could go away and make a drink while you wait on the loads.

While all these things are annoying, are they game breaking, maybe not, but they sure add up to me spending a lot of my time saying "Seriously!!" and not being able to play for long periods. Am I going to finish the game, yes, because the story keeps you hooked, but will i go back for a second playthrough, probably not.

This game is near perfection. To keep things short the only problems I've found with this game are the underwater controls and some bugs and glitches that mostly don't interfere with the gameplay. Also, the frame rate in the PS4 version is unstable, but that didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. The rest is magnificent. A must-own for RPG lovers.

Geralt himself is easily the best character in video game history. The characters he encounters the NPC's, the friends and enemies are all unique and varied. Enemy AI is fantastic, each type of monster operates differently and distinctly to the others.
The amount of time and love CDPR has put into this game is astronomical, and it shows. Its the first game I've ever played where I can happily wander around and just soak up the environments.
And Gwent! Who would've thought that this little side-game could be as good as it is and as addictive.
There's so many things going on in Witcher 3 and at first it was super daunting, but like everything you've just got to keep putting one step in front of the other.
I've played Bloodborne and Fallout 4 and they simply have nothing on Witcher 3. I just love it, there are no other words and not enough praise can be placed upon this game. The fact that CDPR are continually supporting and adding to it is a testament to this work of art they've allowed us to experience.

From most aspects this game is perfect; however, I found a slight shortcoming as I had played for a significant amount of time. I found the combat to become boring. I will say, this could be because I was playing it one specific way when most players change their play style so, it could have been in how I was playing the game. Nevertheless, I found the combat to get a bit repetitive at the middle of the game towards the end and that detracted from my experience.

Its slight flaws in combat are the only thing stopping me from giving this game a 10/10.

The game was released in May for PS4 and Xbox One. I’ve been playing it for a few months now and it has honestly been some of the most fun I have ever had with a video game. Let’s jump right in. You are Geralt of Rivia, a witcher who is on an epic quest to find his daughter Ciri, who has been on the run from The Wild Hunt for years. On the way, you work with the likes of Yennefer (Geralt’s old love interest and Ciri’s mother), Triss (A possible love interest for Geralt), Dandelion, Djikstra, kings, rulers and so many more. The world of The Witcher 3 is called Temeria (or “The Continents”). It is a dark place, but it is also beautiful. You can see and feel emotions from every character you come across. Most are sad, miserable and hopeless, mainly due to the current state of the world they live in. Everyone is looking for hope in a cruel world that has been overrun with all kinds of evil monsters.

    witcher 3 1

The beauty in this dark universe is surprisingly easy to see. It could be in the breathtaking sunsets or the tone in someone’s voice. Speaking of sunsets, the visuals in this game are truly magnificent, especially considering just how large it is. It is roughly 20% larger than Skyrim‘s. Now that’s big! Upon release, there were a few hitches and bugs, but since then, patches and fixes have cured the problems, but they weren’t really a deal breaker to begin with. It is one thing for a game to look good, but it’s another thing to perform well at the same time. The Witcher 3 does not disappoint. It is super fluid and there are hardly ever any issues with frame rate or performance. Whether you are slaying a vicious beast or dashing across an open field on Roach, your trusty steed, everything flows as smooth as silk.

    witcher 3 2

The gameplay in this game is completely fun and the controls are ultra tight. The main fighting is done with a silver sword, a steel sword and various types of magic, including various “signs” with different powers. This includes Quen, Igni, Aard and more. One could be a blast of fire while another could be a telekinetic blast. But it isn’t as simple as using your weapons on just anyone or anything. Your steel sword is for humans while your silver sword is for monsters. Each type of monster and beast have specific weaknesses, which can be used in your favor with oils or signs. You can read about every creature and monster in the Beastiary via the menu. This is just scratching the surface. The world is so complex and full of discovery and things to see, do, read and discover. The massive world is at the player’s fingertips. The main story is fantastic with unbelievably good writing and voice acting. Every character you come across is unique and you never feel like you have seen them before. It makes for a very realistic adventure. Beyond the main quests, there are a seemingly endless amount of side quests available, which can be found on the map, notice boards or other random places. These aren’t just for filler. These side quests have just as much bulk and emotion as the main quests do. This is something so many other games just don’t have. It’s quality and quantity. There are also Witcher Contracts and Treasure Hunts, which are just as fun as the side quests are. All of these quests and activities are rewarding, as sometimes you receive treasures, armor, weapons or coin. I also can’t forget the many points of interest, bandit camps and monster nests. Sometimes it is even seeing a village become active again after ridding it of monsters. This is one well-crafted adventure and it shows in both the story and gameplay.

    witcher 3 4

The Witcher 3 is gorgeous, fun, entertaining and features a wonderful story. It looks and feels like a finely-tunes, handcrafted production. The plot has immense weight and every action has a consequence. A big part of the game is making decisions. You will be prompted often and your story will form from your choices. You will end up seeing only one of multiple possible endings. If you had to judge this game based on fun factor, it has to be in the top 10 of all time. If you had to judge this game based on visuals and sound, it would be in the top 10. If you asked me what my top 10 best games of all time are, The Witcher 3 would be on that list, and probably ranked pretty high. It truly and honestly is one of the best games I have ever played. After over 100 hours of play time, I can confidently say that this game is simply a masterpiece, crafted from the ultra-talented folks over at CD Projekt Red.

It took me around three months to finally beat the last campaign mission and I still have a ton of side quests and the incoming expansions to look forward to. This game is a behemoth in scope, dangerously addictive and is packed with hundreds of hours of content easily.

The voice acting and writing elevates W3 to another plane of existence and the side quests are bizarrely often much more interesting than the narrative events of the primary campaign and this is my biggest gripe with the game... The main campaign starts out great and gets better but then proceeds to lose steam around the halfway point where the story becomes more hit and miss. I was not a fan of Ciri as I felt that she was a two-dimensional character that was difficult to empathise with and often the line delivery would be quite melodramatic.

The skill tree is very easy to understand and doesn't contain many (if any) junk skills/perks and the possibilities for different builds are plentiful. The world and its locations are engrossing and feel completely believable; there is little 'gameyness' to the world. The combat takes a bit of getting used to as it is fiddly at first, but it's a lot of fun and will test your reflexes a fair bit (depending on the difficulty.) Witcher 3 does so many things right but the best has to be the voice acting and writing. It constantly sets up intrigue and then rewards you both narratively and loot-wise, it's quite remarkable. I'm having a lot of fun now with Fallout 4 but unfortunately keep coveting Witcher 3 as it really made me stop and LISTEN to what characters were telling me.

It deals with adult themes that are not dealt with in many other RPGs and the characters have much better voice acting, expressions... long story short, I just cared instead of rapidly skipping through the nonsense dialogue with a feeling that it was childish. I could go on and on about the combat, exploration, etc, but it's all good. Expand

I have been a gamer since the days of Pong and can assure you that if you give this game the chance to court you with its dazzling charm, incredible world, fun missions and engrossing characters then you will be treated to one of the greatest video games ever made. I almost feel sorry for anyone who misses out on this. CD Projeckt Red have shown how to make a next gen open world RPG along with the commitment to regular patches and quality DLC.

The combat is great once you get the hang of it and I found the upgrading system to work just fine driving you to want to get to that next ability point to spend. The game allows you to play it as you want. You can move seamlessly from main mission to mission progressing the story at a good pace where the excellent mapping system makes it easy for you to know where to go without getting lost and frustrated. At the same time the secondary quests are some of the best leading to interesting character development and handsome rewards. I found myself playing a few missions then following the urge to get on my horse and just explore the incredibly beautiful open world where you always run into interesting discoveries.
Overall I would rate this game as 9.8 out of 10 and say that it is the best game out on PS4 and yes that includes fallout 4 and MGSV go get some Witcher!!!

Easily the best written and developed RPG game in the latter years.

A massive experience with interesting story masterfully crafted in a rare way you don't see these days. From beginning to end it seems it was done by people who loved their craft and cared deeply about the end users.

I bought a PS4 to be able to play this game (this was one of the many reasons though, but I was really hyped), and boy, it was such a good decision! The Witcher 3 is not simply the best in the series, not simply the best in its genre but overall the best singleplayer game experience I've ever had! Thank you, CD Project RED, thank you for this game, you really made my days happy with this piece.

The Witcher 3 is currently the best game from this generation so far. An absolute masterpiece. Graphics are amazing, main story and side quests are amazing, soundtrack is amazing, gameplay and customization options are great. It has very few bugs but overall with 36 different endings this game is near perfection.

One of the best games I have ever played. The main story is great, but what really is magnificent is the side quests! Complicated, interesting, makes you feel like a detective trying to solve a case, and it just doesn't get boring. I also have to mention the music, which is superb and makes the atmosphere even more intense. I highly recommend it to everyone, but for a RPG-lover it's a must-have.

There is so much content here but non of it seems "empty", and if you remember infinite quests in Skyrim you should know what I`m taking about. One of the best adventure/ role playing games I have ever played. Incredible combat system makes it skill that wins battles, not just button-bashing. Cons:
    - Occasional Bugs and Crashes
    - Some strange, sometimes even bad writing (never in the main quest, mostly in side quests and not frequent enough to detract too much)
    - Combat and skill trees can be repetitive and I went through this game with 120 hours logged and barely used potions or oils.
    - Inventory Management was how I spent too much of my time (uh oh accidentally picked up a frying pan again)

    3. Perfect, flawless cinematography and directing, in every single quest you can get, including side quests, making every encounter and event unique, thus further amplifies the sense of feedback and reward to the players. (of course, apart from the smuggler's treasures loot hunt map fillers)
    4. challenging but fair combat, even on Death March difficulty. Sometimes I even felt like playing darksouls, which centers on learning every moves of different enemies and designing your counter-measures base on the items you have and the skills and signs you gained.
    5. Engaging music, not your mundane heroic symphony which you can hear in almost every other big RPG titles these days. Witcher 3's score is more pagan and wild, also very blood-boiling, just the extra buff you need when facing an ancient leshen or fiend in a foggy, murky slavic forest.
    6. Humorously written. Let's face it, we've had enough of the blank face standard hero templates in RPGs. Witcher 3's dialogue is not only masterfully written but also can be extremely hilarious when it needs to be.

with Fallout 4 already out now, and having played both games, it's safe to say that Witcher 3: Wild Hunt doesn't fall behind at all, and even surpasses Fallout 4 in certain ways.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was standing near Keira's soulless body starring at her face wondering why it all happened this way. I would have helped her willingly if she had told me the truth from beginning but she instead tried to trick me. I got angry when I knew what was going on and I had a serious argument with her that led to a fight between us. Then happened what happened!

This was part of my experience from one of the wicther's side quests that I described for you(you might have a different experience of course!) Here I will list some of the pros and cons of this game:

    pros:
    1-good story
    2-entertaining side quests
    3-well written characters
    4-big open world

    cons
1-there are tons of ingredients that makes it hard for you to pick the appropriate ones for crafting a specific item so you have no way other than picking everything you see in the environment blindly(it might be of use somewhere!)

2-some missions are boring. you must just walk from place A to B and talk to different people.
    3-the game is too buggy.
4-althogh there is a variety of enemies in the game the way you must fight them is more or less the same.

overall I recommend playing this game.

My only other gripe is the endings for Geralt and Ciri I got were awful, when combined. Granted, I got the worst ones. But it literally made me feel like all the time I spent playing the game was wasted. And only because I made a couple decisions toward the end of the game. If I had gotten either of the other endings for them, I might have given this a 9. But, even though I made "wrong" decisions, they shouldn't completely ruin the ending like that.

Haha. Anyway, overall a really good game. Just need to get over my bitterness.

The Good, cant complain about the graphics. Everything looks amazing. The 24 hr day cycle and weather effdects are so natural. A storm just doesnt come out of nowhere artifically, but you can actually see ome approach and build up. In general the environment is really immersive. I enjoyed the story line, and when i wasnt following it, the side quests never felt like tedious chores to me. Unlike alot of similar games, there always seem to be dull moments where for example you have to kill ten rams or something similar. The world is huggge and there is so much to do. Alot of games claim that decisions you make will affect the world, ive never seen it mote so in the witcher 3. taking on bounties to kill monsters was always exciting, some monsters you will never see if you just follow thr story line, so i recommend doing bounties. There is something rewarding about collecting a bounty on a tough monster after researching its weaknesses and making sure you have the right equipment to defeat it. Even more so when you hang its head from your horse. Speaking of horses, roach your trusty steed is a little fustrating but i have never seen horse riding in a game so well done. Not sure if MGS did it better. I only wish he could jump more naturally.

The combat was challenging at the beginning. I found myself dying alot at the beginning. Once i got used to it though it was just too easy. And thats my only major problem with the game. Combat just becomes so easy that at higher levels when you have more powerful signs and skills you just steam roll everything. Combat became so easy i had to switch to death march ( the hardest difficulty). Eventually, this problem made me not buy the expansion. Once i finished the game i just didnt want to go back and do all the unfinished stuff because it was just too easy. Its sad that levelling was also a problem. I did too many side quests that when i came to catch up on the story it was a piece of cake. Levelling needed to be thought out more.

A score 10/10 means its a perfect game, this has some faults. And while i got a lot of hours from this game, the combat just became so easy that i didnt want to tap into the rest of the game which i hadnt fully explored. What makes up for the combat is the expansive and dynamic world. Hence the score of 9

the witcher 3 is the best rpg games i played. the game is addictive... the main quest, the side quest, the contract, all with good character acting, good writing and pacing. the dialogue and how the choice affects the game is done better than bioware's titles imo. the graphic is amazing, i paused my game several times and ask my wife to look at, she said it was just beautiful!! All I can say is I am so glad I did, as it is one of the richest and rewarding games I have experienced since I started playing video games back in the 80's.

I will start by writing off many of the negative opinions I read on this site. One common gripe was the control mechanics. I won't lie, the Witcher 3 feels slightly different to other games, some would say clunky and irritating. I couldn't quite put my finger on why this was so, until I played a remake of Resident Evil1 and then went back to the Witcher. It feels clunky to some people because of one thing - physics. In real life, if you run or sprint, realistically you cannot just stop dead in your tracks, like in most games. There is something called momentum which will take you a bit further in the direction you were running. The Witcher 3 is realistic in this way as if you are running and then stop running, Geralt will take another step or two to stop. Also, the left analog stick independently controls the pace of your movement. So if you want to walk, you slant the analog stick slightly in the preferred direction. To run, you tilt it the full way. Many games have a button to toggle walk and run, (which in my opinion is outdated) and I think this where the frustration comes in. The only other mechanic/button used to toggle movement speed is to sprint, which is x (Cannot be used indefinitely as sprint is determined by the amount of stamina you have). Ultimately, there is nothing wrong with the controls, you just have to adjust to it. The mistake people make is that in a very populated environment, like in a thick forest or even in a building with lots of walls, people tend to start running immediately which will end them up face first into a wall or tree, then they still moan and say the control mechanics are to blame.

The second biggest gripe I read about was the 'flat' landscape and environment. I don't think these people have ever been outside because most of our planet is generally flat. If you have ever played Red Dead Redemption, the landscape is very similar, especially the first huge area you get to explore. Later in the game where you reach the Skellige Isles, the landscape becomes noticeably a lot more mountainous and dangerous, which high peaks, canyons and generally a more hostile environment. Ultimately, the world they have created in Witcher 3 is extremely realistic. We also need to realize that to travel faster to unknown areas, you go on horseback. It would not make sense to have this extremely jagged landscape as it would be impossible to even use horseback as a means of transport. If anything, the landscape is one of the pros in this game.

The only problem I have had with this game so far, (and they have probably fixed it with a patch by now as I have noticed a few other minor things being fixed) is the very beginning of the game after you leave White Orchard, there is an area in Novigrad, where the music seems intermittent, almost like a skipping disc. I remember reading someone complaining about this. For me, it only lasted a few minutes, but never again since then and I am at the end of the game. I think people got the idea that the whole game had this issue, where it does not. Annoying at the time, but like I say an issue they have probably fixed.

On to the positives. I could literally write an essay on how incredible this game is in every aspect, but I will touch on each briefly. The graphics are mind blowing. You can see it was a labor of love, every single thing in this game looks handcrafted, the detail is simply amazing. The environments are full of life, and from an cosmetic point of view, the characters and objects in the world are believable which creates an immersion I have not experienced in a long time. It is a rich world, teeming with life, just wanting to be explored.

The story and dialogue is probably the best I have experienced in an RPG, and I have played and finished many RPGs including games like Baldurs Gate, Final Fantasy, Elder Scrolls series and many more. This simply is top of the bunch in that respect, I'd say Skyrim is a close second.

The quest system is diverse and the actual quests themselves are interesting and backed with the aforementioned well driven dialogue and stories, none of them have been a tedious task to complete. In some games, all the 'impressive stuff' is at the beginning , but as the game progresses the lack of content and diversification seems to show through. Not with this game, in fact it is the opposite. The more you play this game, the more interesting the quests become and the more you get sucked in.

This game is an absolute gem, if you haven't got it, I suggest getting it ASAP.

Utter perfection. No other game comes to the level of detail and meticulous care that went into the witcher 3. There are a few little things that are repetitive and a few game breaking bugs. but for a game of this scale those grievances are petty compared to the scope of the game.

Only flaw would be the ending left something to be desired, it wasn't bad but not very memorable either. Either way, the game is a masterpiece. Gameplay, story, character development, graphics, and sound. It excels in every department. This year has been great for gaming (personally), Bloodborne, Batman AC, and now this, but Witcher 3 has slain them all. Expand

Overall a great game and I am having a blast playing it. The only couple of quips I have would be with some of the bugs and the controls not being sensitive enough. I can recommend this game to The Witcher fans and the newcomers alike.

This game is a masterpiece. a true example of how far gaming has come since it first started. From the Massive open world to the realistic beard growth. it has a great story line and a harsh unforgiving world full of wonderful lore. it has got to be one of the best games i have ever played. 9/10

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has to be one of the best games I have ever played. Maybe even better than the beast that is Skyrim!

Dozens and dozens of main quests and side quests its never ending. Not to mention just exploring the beautiful but dangerous world looking for all the cool armor schematics and all the other cool collectibles.

Graphics are excellent, characters, foreground and background. Awesome voice actors as well. Mostly old English accents. The story line is incredible. So adult and mature and ever exciting. As other people have said the attention to detail on this game is ridiculous. Unlike some RPG's, you are well rewarded for completing all the side quests and Witcher contracts.

Levelling up is top class. You have the choice on which area to use your reward points, combat, magic, character etc etc. I could go on forever. When modern game developers are seemingly always in a hurry to rush out a poor game for a quick buck, you can just feel how much effort has been put into making this game it almost feels a privilege to play it.

Well done to the guys in Poland at CD Projekt Red, you have set the bar for all future RPG's. A well deserved 10/10 from me!

Okay I've only played this game for less than 10 hours yet I don't think anything will change my mind, this game is average. Despite the good parts of it, there are some serious flaws there which ruins it.

First of all, the UI design is the worst I've ever seen, it is so awkward I could barely keep playing. Take the shop interface for an example, there is no way to quickly switch from your items to vendor's items, when you sell something, it left a hole there which makes navigating really weird, it's hard to explain, they really didn't optimize the UI, and the rendering time of map, items are ridiculously slow, 2 secs I think. The task tracking is a disaster, you can track only one task, if you pick up a new task when tracking something else, you have no idea where the new task is, and, why the menu always fold every time I open it?

Then the combat system, god, it is horrible, it seems you don't have i-frames when rolling, and whether you can stun-lock enemy is unpredictable, I can't figure it out. The awkward camera, bad movesets, man, if they don't know how to make action game, then don't. I used to dislike QTE but maybe it is a better and simpler solution than this crap.

The land has no variety, that is the problem with open world games, it is hard to add different layouts on a big map, yet Zelda manages that. You know, for a magic world, the environment doesn't look magic at all, Morrowind did a better job, Dark Souls is far more amazing, it's not the resolution or color, it is the design.

The task, god. In order to get my help, kill me a griffin. In order to find Ciri, help me find my family. In order to locate something, help me find my lamb. This is getting out of control! The pattern is so predictable I am really getting bored.

I think a 75% discount of GOTY version would worth the money.

The Witcher 3 is a excellent game that has both great characters and story. Not all of it is perfect though, for example the world isn't the best to explore to say Skyrim. The main quests are pretty good and interesting enough to make you want to keep going. The side quests are great there's just a lot of variety in them despite most of them being focused on hunting monsters. The monsters you hunt will rarely be the same kind that you hunt from a different contract. The stories are way more interesting in these side quests than other open world RPGs as I actually did care what was happening. The pros far outweigh the cons and is easily a GOTY contender Expand

Most of all in this game I enjoyed Storyline. One thing disappointed me, some things were similar to Dragon age:inquisition. So the game was not innovational as it should had to be. Also Witcher 3: Wild hunt loses its gameplay at its finest if you don't choose last game mode(Death march). Other modes just give you experience to enjoy only landscapes and trees. Also FPS sometimes drops.

I am over 30 with kids and a career and i finished the game which says it all.

The plot is exciting, the graphics are nice, not many bugs, average combat but i guess this game is more about the story.

    Loved it.

The Witcher 3's subject matter, its almost defiant doubling down on its treatment of women as titillating props for Geralt and the player, even as it tries to flesh out more female leads, is its most disappointing aspect. This constant presence weighs down what would otherwise be an excellent bit of closure for Geralt's video game saga — which isn't helped by the control issues that often detract from sequences meant to break up open-world monotony.
