Overall though, it plays okay. Sometimes the building is glitchy and views are awkward to lay pieces where you want, but, overall I made a neighbourhood in about 20-30hrs which looked pretty cool, some massive flats and some traditional looking houses.

My daughter plays the actual game with the Sims, she likes the role play and that's fair enough, I got bored very early on. It's not for me anymore.

    Why score a 5?

I played the Sims1. I bought a few of the DLC packs and used to use the www.thesimexchange to download user made content onto my PC - it was fun (we're talking 15yrs ago or more) ... the Sims4 seems to have standard features from other games as DLC, like the garden stuff shoved into a DLC content pack, and even jobs as DLC. In fact, so much has been shoved into extra content, that to get ALL of the additional stuff for Sims4, at full price would cost OVER £350!!! That's the price of my PSPRO!

No season pass to get them all. This is EA at its worst (and that really is a statement!!)

Buyers beware - it's a fun for a few builds, but the cost of full content is an utter rip off and shameful

I am still a loyal fan, but holy hand grenades is this installment cramped. With the removal of open world capabilities that the previous title had, It cut exploration by 82%, and that it just lame. There's not much to do since EA took a step backwards with The Sims 4.

They better make The Sims 5 regardless of sales and they better fix it so it doesn't suck, or I swear, I'll jump ship

Sims 4 for PS4 does not look like a bad port with a PC with terrible control. From the controller it is not convenient to control almost everything in the game, it is good that there is keyboard and mouse support. If you play Sims, then only on PC, without mods, the game is suitable only for girls and schoolgirls. You can only recommend for the fact that here is a very simple platinum trophy.

The game itself is not bad. but oh god the controls on the console... why make a console game if you can't make controls there work. That makes no sense at all and just shows that kind of gaming company EA is.

This is happening all the time. This leads to extreme micromanagement because you dont need to just command your sims, but you still need to check all the command queues and reissue them all the time because the game just deletes them for no reason. Console controls and general glitches are the main reason I give this such a low score. This is also my first experience with Sims 4 and it lacks a lot of what Sims 3 and even Sims 2 had expanded on the series. The base game itself is okay but you would need to invest in some expensive DLC to make it actually seem fun for more than a few hours.

The game is buggy and new bugs are introduced as soon as the old ones are fixed. The control scheme is horrific and makes no sense. Not only that but the uninspired and unimaginative DLC's cost more than the actual game. It appears EA couldn't care less about the player's opinion and take their player base for granted.

These are spread into three different categories, expansion packs which cost £32.99 which add in a few new jobs and features. There are game packs which cost £11.99 which add a few less features than the expansion pack, and there are stuff packs for £7.99 which if you haven't guessed already give you less stuff than the previous 2 packs. All of these packs are essentially content that was cut and added back in so EA can squeeze as much money out of its consumers as possible. Onto gameplay and controls. The controls are awful the cursor hardly ever goes where you want it to, and occasionally jumps to different sections of the screen making it impossible to select certain options. The gameplay is not any better your character will maybe start eating his/her food then immediately put it down and stand still for half an in game day before complaining that they are starving. There's not much to this game, if you enjoy the Sims games and don't have money coming out of your ears to purchase the full experience I would recommend getting the sims 3 on console, there's more to do, see, buy and explore all for a fraction of the price of the Sims 4 base game. I suggest avoiding this game like the plague unless you have more money than sense Expand

The game lacks depth. It is a step back comparing to the previous titles - I get bored playing The Sims 4 so easily, and even mods can not do anything with that. Plus, everything is overpriced and there are too many lackluster stuff packs which is a shame. I do not recommend buying the game unless you get it with 75% discount.

This game is virtually unplayable in its present (2020) form as the virtual tenants of my house are unable to do most basic tasks and it's always a toss up of whether they will be able to even clean up a dirty plate or access the computer they've put dozens of hours into building skills with. This game is another example of EA destroying everything it touches.

I’ve been playing the sims 2 for so long and it’s impossible for me to go to the sims 4 for how much the gameplay lacks. My biggest concern is the lack of animations and depth for those the game has with DLC using base games animations for the features they bring. Gameplay is boring without anything exciting on it. Packs are expensive and lacking on content.

The interface itself is a poorly made job - it's no match compared to UI in SIMS 1,2 and 3. There's no art involved, no design. It's so bad it actually feels like an insult to the player. And the fact that the game has been cut into a million of stupid DLCs doesn't help. Say, that DLC that adds "super cool animals hats" - who the hell needs them? Yeah, so when you launch this game it offers you more DLCs and the interface is designed in a way that confuses you so you press the button you don't want to buy a DLC you don't need for a game that doesn't care if it's playable or not. This is lame. I strongly recommend to keep away from Sims 4 for Playstation 4. Expand

Frankly, this isn’t very surprising given EA’s customary lack of service or customer care. Their unwillingness or inability to produce a quality product is on full display in Sims 4, and the small amount of lip service provided online or through their support network just doesn’t make this game worthwhile. Graphics:
The graphics are actually pretty. I am not a huge fan of the cartoonish clay style, but it does have its charme.

    Sims:
When creating a Sim you can assign personality traits. The issue is that none of those really matter. Jealous Sims do not really get jealous, they just tend to be in a bad mood more often but that does not really have an effect on gameplay. While in previous Sims games your Sims would get seriously mad at each other if one of them cheated on their spouse (to the point that it was sometimes hard to restore the relationship), these things have little to no impact in the Sims 4. These Sims have no soul, no personality, nothing the player can identify themselves with. Plus, the genetics are completely broken. When two Sims have a child in-game, nine times out of ten that child won't have a chin. Why??

    Worlds:
I actually don't mind the fact that they removed open world. The loading times are quite quick for me. However, the worlds are TINY and we cannot change anything about them. It is an absolute disgrace that the Sims 2, which was released in 2004, had way more options in this regard.

    Content & DLC Packs:
This game is unplayable without mods or expansion packs. It is boring, there is nothing to do apart from the usual job and skill improvement.
Even the DLC packs lack substantial content and it is quite obvious that they split packs, which should be ONE pack, into multiple packs to make as much money as possible (e.g. Cats & Dogs + My First Pet Stuff, Eco Lifestyle + Tiny Living, etc.). Nearly all of these packs are completely overpriced, too. At this point I just wish that EA would face legal consequences for their **** business practices, even though I know that will sadly never happen. But a girl can dream.

With that said, I am hoping that EA will finally get their butts kicked by the competition. Here's to hoping that Paralives and others will do a better job and that this will motivate EA to do better. I don't think anyone wants the Sims series to die, but this is the direction they are currently headed.
