The controls are undeniably the worst thing in this game. I would love this if the controls would actually work. It is incredibly frustrating and makes it difficult to get into the gameplay.

I am still a loyal fan, but holy hand grenades is this installment cramped. With the removal of open world capabilities that the previous title had, It cut exploration by 82%, and that it just lame. There's not much to do since EA took a step backwards with The Sims 4.

They better make The Sims 5 regardless of sales and they better fix it so it doesn't suck, or I swear, I'll jump ship

Solid game but way too much overpriced DLC, it's ea but it's still sad to see you need to spend hundres of dollars to get a full experience.

EA missed completely what The Sims is all about. There is no The Sims player out there that play only with Maxis/The Sims stuff or even just play it as a simulation Game it's also a Construction/Decoration Game and doing that on console it's horrible.

And in addition to all of those problems, the game has far less content then all of the previous games, it's as if they moved backwards rather then forwards. Worst sims game so far. Expand

Oh. My. Gosh. This game is just terrible. Like honestly terrible.
The PS4 controls render the game totally unplayable. It lags on my PS4, the "cursor" jumps from side to side - you can't even properly place your objects in the spot you wanted them because everything's so jumpy and laggy.

I've been sat here for 20 minutes trying to come up with a single reason why you would play this especially at the ridiculous price to get the full game, when you could go and get the sims 3 which comes more complete, for a cheaper price.

EA you're ruining your own franchises. Please stop.

Honestly stick with sims 3. Besides the revamped conversation mechanics, and character customization this is a major step back, and you will be required to spend 500 $ CAD for the full experience on the dozens of dlc packs, which are basic features ripped from sims 3 and sold back to us in sims 4. This might of turned me off ever playing the sims again. Which is disappointing because IHonestly stick with sims 3. It's the same as PC in terms of gameplay and graphics but the UI is a mess the controls are abysmal it will drive crazy luckily I just tried it on my friend's PS4... avoid this one and stick to the PC version!

DLCs simulator in console after 3 years of the PC launch...
The game is not even full with all the DLCs, it's the worst Sims ever.
You got smaller expansions than previous Sims...
Instead gettting "Animals Pack" you can buy "Cats and Dogs"

The controls are chaotic, it's unplayable! If you want a real sim on consoles, I recommend the sims 2 on consoles. Why not have direct control as in sims 2 ? Go your way, the controls are void !

This is happening all the time. This leads to extreme micromanagement because you dont need to just command your sims, but you still need to check all the command queues and reissue them all the time because the game just deletes them for no reason. In few hours, you will hate this game. Until this is fixed, the game is barelly playable and I dont reccomend it. Expand

The interface is so bad it has s button dedicated to show you the controls, and that option is always highlighted on the screen. And the problem lies beyond the control scheme. The interface itself is a poorly made job - it's no match compared to UI in SIMS 1,2 and 3. There's no art involved, no design. It's so bad it actually feels like an insult to the player. And the fact that the game has been cut into a million of stupid DLCs doesn't help. Say, that DLC that adds "super cool animals hats" - who the hell needs them? Yeah, so when you launch this game it offers you more DLCs and the interface is designed in a way that confuses you so you press the button you don't want to buy a DLC you don't need for a game that doesn't care if it's playable or not. This is lame. I strongly recommend to keep away from Sims 4 for Playstation 4. Expand

I REPEAT, THIS GAME DOES NOT HAVE AN AUTO SAVE FEATURE.

I was so hyped when we got Sims 4 as a free game through PS+ but this game brought me nothing more than stress and 0 enjoyment.

Overall though, it plays okay. Sometimes the building is glitchy and views are awkward to lay pieces where you want, but, overall I made a neighbourhood in about 20-30hrs which looked pretty cool, some massive flats and some traditional looking houses.

My daughter plays the actual game with the Sims, she likes the role play and that's fair enough, I got bored very early on. It's not for me anymore.

    Why score a 5?

I played the Sims1. I bought a few of the DLC packs and used to use the www.thesimexchange to download user made content onto my PC - it was fun (we're talking 15yrs ago or more) ... the Sims4 seems to have standard features from other games as DLC, like the garden stuff shoved into a DLC content pack, and even jobs as DLC. In fact, so much has been shoved into extra content, that to get ALL of the additional stuff for Sims4, at full price would cost OVER £350!!! That's the price of my PSPRO!

No season pass to get them all. This is EA at its worst (and that really is a statement!!)

Buyers beware - it's a fun for a few builds, but the cost of full content is an utter rip off and shameful

Sims 4 for PS4 does not look like a bad port with a PC with terrible control. From the controller it is not convenient to control almost everything in the game, it is good that there is keyboard and mouse support. If you play Sims, then only on PC, without mods, the game is suitable only for girls and schoolgirls. You can only recommend for the fact that here is a very simple platinum trophy.

These are spread into three different categories, expansion packs which cost £32.99 which add in a few new jobs and features. There are game packs which cost £11.99 which add a few less features than the expansion pack, and there are stuff packs for £7.99 which if you haven't guessed already give you less stuff than the previous 2 packs. All of these packs are essentially content that was cut and added back in so EA can squeeze as much money out of its consumers as possible. Onto gameplay and controls. The controls are awful the cursor hardly ever goes where you want it to, and occasionally jumps to different sections of the screen making it impossible to select certain options. The gameplay is not any better your character will maybe start eating his/her food then immediately put it down and stand still for half an in game day before complaining that they are starving. There's not much to this game, if you enjoy the Sims games and don't have money coming out of your ears to purchase the full experience I would recommend getting the sims 3 on console, there's more to do, see, buy and explore all for a fraction of the price of the Sims 4 base game. I suggest avoiding this game like the plague unless you have more money than sense Expand

Console controls and general glitches are the main reason I give this such a low score. This is also my first experience with Sims 4 and it lacks a lot of what Sims 3 and even Sims 2 had expanded on the series. The base game itself is okay but you would need to invest in some expensive DLC to make it actually seem fun for more than a few hours.

I simply cannot condone the practice of designing a barren game so that content can be sold later at extravagant prices. Let's not forget that this has been happening since the very first Sims game way back around 2000, but being new back then it was able to mislead us into thinking disc space was a barrier.

DLC can be a very good concept when done right, which EA seem incapable of.

It's incredibly sad to see a game I spent many of my younger years become this poisonous shell of its former self. The game itself isn't that great, with awkward controls and limited choices.

On its own merit, The Sims 4 is enjoyable enough, particularly with its rich customization. Compared to its predecessor, though, it's a life simulator that...well, lacks life. [Jan 2017, p.86]

As a whole, The Sims 4 can be a great game to lay on your couch and sink hours into, but many things hold it back from being the great game that is is on PC. From bugs and technical problems, to a horrible control scheme, there is a great game buried beneath problems.

A decent port, that nevertheless suffers from a number of technical issues, chief among which a number of framedrops, long loading times and a cursor that doesn't exactly work as intuitively as it should.
