    If 3rd person support was possible I would have giving it 10. I usually never play games that are first person but this game is still very good.

A game that tackles politics with actual sophistication by juxtaposing super capitalistic corporations run amok with the fact that their greatest downfall in running a society is actually a rather communist-style autocracy with brutal enforcement of censor-happy culture.     Good game. That's where Fallout Feeling comes in with a new design. I like it. But in the present time and the quite large German speaking market I would have liked a German Synchro. therefore I will not buy it but will only watch it as a last play.

    It's great. Game met expectations. Now The Outer Worlds and Fallout: New Vegas are best and favourite RPG games for me.

    This game is one of those games that starts strong then the layers peel off once you start to get into the game. I can't recall a single characters name because they were so boring. Inventory is clunky. Leveling kinda sucks. Perks kinda suck. Options kinda suck. Weapon and armor modding kinda suck. No grenades. Look I'm    Better than Fallout 4 but worse than Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

    Look I'm impressed with the lack of budget they were able to make something this solid. But I found myself playing this more like it was doom or something since I didn't really care. I eventually gave up all together once I hit the third world because I was just so bored.

    The weird SJW motives forced into the mix on top of this just gross me out. For instance the default character is a black lesbian woman, which I'm sure is the majority or gamers playing their game obviously so it just makes sense for them to try to appeal to that large portion of the market. Not only that but there's this awkward forced in side quest where for 30 minutes you have to assist a lesbian in pursuing her sexual interest.    … Expand

    Not only is a testament to the RPG-making skills of the company, the writing - for this review of the character of Parvati - made me feel less alone. Real cool touch, making the character who she was. Thanks, guys.

    This game scratches the itch that New Vegas left me wanting more of many years ago. I couldn't be happier with the experience. No game will ever satisfy everyone but this game is a breath of fresh air for me and so many others. It is exactly what I was wanting the game to be.

    Outer Worlds is amazing. It's a real RPG with choices and consequences, a living world, charismatic characters, freedom of choice. If you "destroy" a place, know that it will have consequences. Characters may or may not like you, some may enjoy sarcastic humor and some may not, so consider that your teammates may abandon you. Anyway, my final opinion is that if you like RPGs, you shouldOuter Worlds is amazing. It's a real RPG with choices and consequences, a living world, charismatic characters, freedom of choice.     Outer Worlds does one thing an RPG has to do: respect the player's choices. The game is simple, but that is its appeal, the simplicity of a good RPG. The game catches you and disturbs you with the dystopian world you are in. The world reacts to you, what you do has consequences, whether good or bad.     no me gusta tener que hablar de este juego mencionando a fallout, pero es obvia su insipiracion al ser los mismos desarrolladores, pero me hubiese gustado que intentasen algo nuevo y no solo ser "otro fallout" con otro nombre, al juego le falta identidad propia, aun asi al sentirse como un "verdadero fallout" el juego es muy bueno.

    Games great. Simple review incoming. I have played only 6 hours in this game and already love it. Great dialogue and voice acting. First game in a long time were the faces really look like faces. Combat it dated but I'm not here for a fast paced explosion heavy combat system. Play on hard to make combat challenging and fun.     I've been having alot of fun playing this, definitely feels like a Fallout game over Fallout 76. This game is probably what 76 should have been like tbh, they stuck to the roots of character building with NPCs. If you're a true Fallout fan and want a new game to play try it, you'll probably like it.

    Just started playing this game on PC using the Xbox Game Pass and had no issues downloading/installing or launching the game (running Windows 10 1903 version). All I can say is that the character animations, colorful world, voice acting, and branching conversation options is exactly what I was looking for in this game and boy does it deliver. I have to run the game in 1920x1080 resolution but I don't mind because it allows me to run the game in Ultra settings. Magnificent Game!     The graphics are just terrible! Everything is a blurry saturated colourful eye-sore, it's so hard to differentiate anything in this world, everything has the same colour palette and enemies blend in with what's behind them!

    Enemy design leaves something to be admired, blue dinosaurs, pink dinosaurs, green dinosaurs, blue green pink dinosaurs, they might be very well designed, but I can't **** see them!

    The worlds in this game are terrible, everything is exactly the same, it's only the cities and interiors that seem to have had any effort put in, you walk down a highlighted path, bumping into the same marauders situated in the middle of the road, surrounded by a few boxes, it's the same interaction in what feels like the same area over and over and over again. No outposts, structures, places that you would remember, if I asked you to name the last interaction you had with marauders you would say, in the middle of the road surrounded by boxes, it's bad, super bad. I know it's not fallout, but if there was named areas, such as a shopping mall full of marauders, It would have changed this game completely.

    No places to visit outside of the cities, it's just a vast swamp of colours, grass, trees, rocks.

    The loot is nothing special, looting feels janky to me in this game, objects get surrounded by a blue highlight to show that it can be picked up, however nothing seems worth picking up, it's just bottles and food, the occasional gun that looks identical to the others even with it being a different kind, I don't know, looting just feels off in this game to me.

    To summarise,

    It's the best RPG we have had this year, full of choices, consequences, roll playing, character creation, but it's a far cry from what it could have been, it is definitely not game of the year and it is not as good as the feedback it is receiving, outside of the quests and story it's nothing but a copy and paste over saturated eye burner which leaves little in terms of game play.

    This is by far the best single player game of 2019 imo, everything from the graphics to the gameplay and story have been well thought over and has alot of care and attention put into it, if you're a gamer, get this game!

    first of all i will say this game does look very beautiful, however i found my self having stutters and frame rate drops on medium graphics even with my GTX1060. Outer worlds is a great RPG experience, however i felt it was too short lived; it was disapointing when i finished the campaign and found out i could not continue exploring like other RPG    Played on windows 10 version.

    The game really brings everything what you would expect from this style of RPG. Writing and voice acting are top notch, with interesting characters and their stories, silly and dark at the same time (Leonard's Boyarsky and Tim's Cane signature style is really obvious, and I love it) The space western style of it fits perfectly in this universe. I don't like comparing games, but as much as I'm a Fallout universe fan, I enjoy this game much more, than what Bethesda does for the last ten or so years. Bottom line, imagine Mass Effect and Fallout: New Vegas had a baby, and it was raised by the Wasteland franchise, this is what you would get.… Expand

    A real action RPG for a change. This is a must have if you’re a fan of the genre. People comparing it to borderlands and Call of duty? Really? Why not Forza or mario tennis while you’re at it? I was waiting for a game like this since the Witcher 3

    For those who do not know, this isn't really a Fallout clone, as its developed by the team that made the ORIGINAL Fallout and New Vegas.

    Plays just like Fallout New Vegas did, with several optimizations. The gameplay is much more fluid that the Fallout series, the graphics is a few steps above from Bethesda. As a matter of fact, everything here is a really just a step above Fallout    For those who do not know, this isn't really a Fallout clone, as its developed by the team that made the ORIGINAL Fallout and New Vegas.

    Plays just like Fallout New Vegas did, with several optimizations. The gameplay is much more fluid that the Fallout series, the graphics is a few steps above from Bethesda.

    As a matter of fact, everything here is a really just a step above Fallout 4 and 76 (which I've put about 60 hours in, regardless of how much of a mess that game IS) Jumping/crouching and overall movement feels more akin to a faster FPS like Borderlands, but not quite as sharp as say COD or Battlefield.

    At first, the gameplay will seem boring and not as challenging when set on Normal. So I changed it to hard recently and there is a noticeable difference in terms of how the AI responds and I recommend you do the same to keep things fresh. (that is unless you are a more casual gamer)

    As for the world and the story. Everything seems much more lively and fun to play. The writing is really good, the voicework and old-school dialog choices is a breath of fresh air, that is sorely missed from Fallout.

    I know there is just too much to compare with Fallout here, save for the original PC titles. But Obsidian delivers a fun and quirky adventure that doesn't require you to spend hundreds of hours in to love it.    … Expand

    Seriously overrated.. It feels like a cheap concoction of Bioshock, Borderlands and Fallout without intrigue or depth. Then top it off with running on a seriously outdated unreal engine. Within one hour I was killing anything I wanted, even switched to hard. Maybe a good game for kids..

    The characters and dialogue are so good! Side quests don’t really feel like a chore and the pacing feels excellent! Everything is really smooth, and the color schemes are amazing. I’m thoroughly enjoying this awesome RPG

    It is hard to not want to like this game given its pedigree. It is certainly a good game and a mostly well made game in its own right but that said the whole is not quite as good as the sum of its parts. Lets get the TL;DR out of the way. While it does a lot of what people expected of it from playing like a merger of Fallout and bioware RPGs the end result of    An interesting study.

    It is hard to not want to like this game given its pedigree. It is certainly a good game and a mostly well made game in its own right but that said the whole is not quite as good as the sum of its parts.

    Lets get the TL;DR out of the way. While it does a lot of what people expected of it from playing like a merger of Fallout and bioware RPGs the end result of such story lines lack that same narrative spark that Bioware RPGs are known for. It takes the trying too hard over the top comedy of Borderlands, adds the romance, relationships and endless dialog of a bioware RPG, Bethesdas janitor simulator gameplay where all you do is wander an near endless sandbox picking up and sorting garbage and sets it with a setting and cast straight out of "a whole ship of Han Solo's" of firefly. To some that sounds like their wet dream of a video game. Honestly when its all assembled its like the worst parts of all of those franchises. Its tedious, ridiculous, and sometimes actually enjoyable. It is however long stretches between those moments.

    The remainder is specifics as to why it plays like this.

    On the flipside of the coin its mechanical game play feels a bit too simplified and lacking the same teeth. Especially when you feel the results of your consequent level upgrades. Playing as if theres really little change from level to level or even over several levels to major skill unlocks.

    Its biggest flaw is its setting and narrative. Like it is trying a little too hard to be this much fallout, this much bioware, that much borderlands. Also the "whole ship of han solo's" trope is played out and honestly just as unbearable as it has been since the likes of Firefly first tried it. The "cast of lovable goofballs and badasses" is ridiculous and shows that the plot itself lacks teeth that could have been had with such a story. It renders most of the characters stories without depth and illicit little actual caring for their plight due to the ever present comical or whimsical nonsense lurking around the corner. It may be a style many people like but its the difference between watching some vapid summer popcorn munching blockbuster that cant even go half its runtime before it starts lulling you to sleep with constant barrage of "awesome" and pandering fan service and sitting down to experience an actual film with depth, that provokes thought and reflection or elicits genuine emotion
    that leaves you wanting more and more. That proves to be a BIG problem in a game that has so many hours of dialog as it becomes tedious and forgettable VERY quickly.

    Do not get me wrong, Its a good game, but at this stage of reviewing its important to get a more objective perspective than people review bombing it into oblivion, or blindly fawning over it like its the second coming that WILL wear off when people get deeper into the content and/or when the novelty of it has worn off and when looking back on it.

    Its definitely a game of the year type game. That said it marks a fairly pedestrian if not outright bad year in gaming. I would give it either the highest possible seven or the lowest possible 8 and leaning personally more toward a 7. However accepting the game related to the entire potential audience for it and trying to also not be TOO nitpicky critical siding on the games behalf I would begrudgingly accept an 8 as a reasonable approximation. Though definitely in the B- category.

    Its not a generation defining title like say a Dark Souls was for last gen, but its definitely a solid foundation that a somewhat quick sequel in about 2 years can iron out most of the mechanical issues and give time to craft a better story while utilizing the same engine and assets or perhaps with modest graphical upgrades as an early if not launch title for next generation.

    So personally I would say unless you are REALLY dying for an RPG right now you could stand at least a couple weeks for a significant price reduction and be fully justified in doing so. Rushing to pay full price for this I cannot really recommend because while a sound cobbling together its literally nothing you have not already seen before.    … Expand

    I never realized just how dumbed down RPG’s have become in the past few years until I started playing this. From the very outset there are decisions to be made and decisions with consequences. I’m only a few hours in and already looking forward to starting all over again to try out different builds and choices. I got the Game Pass from Microsoft for 1$ for the first month and this was included.     The story is great, the impact of decisions is refreshing after what games like the recent Fallouts did to this feature. You also have a wide variety of story arches as well as customization stats and items.

    The negatives (minor): I personally don't find the lore and setting of this game as interesting as Fallout, the obvious comparison being that Obsidian once made a Fallout game. However, it is refreshing to play in comparison to Fallout as it has not been hashed out half a dozen times like the former. Another thing I wish this had was a quicksave feature like Fallout. Maybe I am missing it? But it goes without saying that this is huge in an RPG style game where you can get massacred around any corner.    … Expand

    Obsidian did it again. Dialogue is amazing, especially when compared to Fallout 4. The amount of sarcastic responses available are hilarious. This game sets a new bar for action RPGs.

    I play at a distance of 2 meters from the screen and I must say that it is impossible to make out such small subtitles, although I have excellent eyesight. fix it please

    The Outer Worlds is a breath of fresh air. It’s night and day above the trash Bugthesda is spewing out these days. Yes, that’s right, no micro transactions. No buggy mess to deal with. Actual meaningful story telling. This game wasn’t designed to suck out your soul and bleed you dry. Go buy it and enjoy!

    For people who wanted great dialogues, excellent writing and had nostalgia for black isle/troika/obsidian humour - then it's definitely 10. If you wanted epic and action-rpg, then give it a chance, you should like this game, even if it's not something you've expected. Moreover, let's support single-player games and classic rpgs in this world of multiplayer and lootboxes.

    GOTY, best rpg since Witcher 3, New vegas and Divinity Original Sin 2.
    Simply amazing!

    - Wonderful writing
    - Great stoundtrack
    - amazing game world
    - Its a blast to play
    - Great roleplaying and builds

    Ja so als Zwischensnack ein gutes Rollenspiel was leicht von der Hand geht und auch gut aussieht. Ich bekomme esüber den XBox Gamepass und das ist ein weiterer Pluspunkt.
    Daher kann jeder Fallout Fan bedenkenlos zugreifen ohne wie bei Fallout 76 enttäuscht zu werden.

    This game takes the best parts of fallout and turns it into a magnificent RPG. Containing satisfying combat, brilliant mechanics and a large list of expansive dialog options, this game truly puts the developer on the map for the generation ahead.

    Fallout, Firefly, and Futurama all in one great rpg. You get many space western vibes while playing the game, carrying a laser pistol, visiting the saloon, and hanging out in your space ship. The quests you play out have excellent writing and voice acting, with options for deciding how to resolve issues. The combat is enjoyable, whether with a gun or melee it feels fast paced and fun. TheyFallout, Firefly, and Futurama all in one great rpg. You get many space western vibes while playing the game, carrying a laser pistol, visiting the saloon, and hanging out in your space ship. The quests you play out have excellent writing and voice acting, with options for deciding how to resolve issues. The combat is enjoyable, whether with a gun or melee it feels fast paced and fun. They have tactical time dilation is their answer to vats, which slows things down to aid you in combat.

    Basically what I wanted from Mass Effect Andromeda and Fallout 4 brilliantly rolled into one. Where those titles let me down, this game exceeded. Excellent dialog writing, and choices that actually matter. I'm so happy this game turned out what it is.

    Doing what Bethesda can't do anymore...make a good game. This is definitely the "spiritual successor" to New Vegas without any doubt. Thanks Obsidian for making a great game.

    Instant classic. Fans of Fallout: New Vegas NEED apply. The visuals are way better than expected, the gunplay is tight, the story is fun and humorous, the dialogue is tongue in cheek, inventory management is what I've been missing since New Vegas. The character creation and skill progression are exactly what an RPG fan wants. I'll buy any DLC they release for this. Please take my money.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is so fun. I can tell I’m going to sink a ton of hours into this on multiple play throughs. For my first I’m playing a dumb character and I recommend it for some of the resolutions you can achieve when NPCs just don’t want to explain anymore. Also character creation has a nice nod to working class folks giving them bonuses based off of occupations. It’s nice to see a janitors and warehouse workers and stuff get cool little bonuses for their occupations… Expand

    Quick review because I'm really enjoying this game. Outer Worlds is the Fallout 4 Bethesda should have gifted us with... but in space. It's charming, whacky and random, which is what I expect for these types of games. It's very much influenced by such games as New Vegas and Kotor, maybe a bit too much, but that really isn't a bad thing. If you like these two games, you'll love Outer Worlds.

    When it comes to mechanics, the game resembles games from Bethesda. Everyone wondered before the premiere whether the game would be as good as Fallout New Vegas. I can by now write to you: The Outer Worlds is even better than New Vegas, better than Fallout 4! :) . It's a real RPG, not an adventure game with RPG elements. Obsidian showed Bethesda how to do role-playing games.

    What probably best summarizes The Outer Worlds is that, in spite of my qualms with aspects of it, I still enjoyed my time playing it. It doesn’t overstay its welcome and by the fills a void that feels wider in the wake of many larger western studios losing interest in making dedicated RPG experiences. It’s not the kind of game to stand the test of time and Obsidian has made much better and more interesting games in the past, but there is a pleasant experience to be had. For those looking for that style of single-player RPG will find a lot to like and could do a lot worse.

    I can see that while I play, The Outer Worlds is everything needed and expected from a first-person RPG, one that can then be expanded on in the future, with innovative systems, original worlds, and unexpected characters - they now have a hub to fit into. The problem for players is: why play this game instead of waiting for the one that fully escapes the shadow of Fallout?
