    Great game! I was very excited to lose any plot that I cared about in favor of "fresher perspectives" and "diversity," in the words of the brilliant Neil Druckmann. The ending was fantastic as well, great writing. Just like the critics say, MUST-PLAY!

I won't give this game a zero out of spite like many are doing because the game is technically fantastic and that deserves praise. However what they've done with the Story and characters is insulting to all the fans of the first game. A video game is not a place to push for your ideology and political beliefs in detriment for the fans' enjoyment. You don't get to do that without repercussions and the repercussions are here for all to see.… Expand

    from a heartbroken fan, the game looks gorgeous, it's gameplay is fun to some extent, the only good thing the game brings are the flashback sequences. The narrative feels very forced and the story overall is pointless and baseless with very dry side characters compared to the original last of us. the games a huge disappointment and I regret ever wanting a sequel

    The game looks nice, stunning even; but that's about it. It's a snuff film masquerading as a game on a console. Zombies now just a cameo and purposeful and hateful alteration of a beautiful story which was about the good but flawed and tragic nature of mankind. All to fit an agenda. I saw this coming with clear corporate manipulation of reviews and supression of honest criticism.

    Masterpiece. Beautiful game with a raw story that you will never forget. Everything from first game is improved. Sad too see that many that havent even played the game are following this "hate flow" because of that early event in the game. At the end of the day, that will not stop TLOU2 to be the increible game it is.

    Neil Druckmann completely ruined this series. Should've kept the original writers instead of firing 75% of the studio after the story was almost completely finished and replacing it with his own.

    Graphics and Sound excellent, as always. The lore... hours and hours that builds nothing, kills a lot and tries to surprise the player with "first game shocking moments x500" and nothing more. Don't care about the feminist/gender thing, doesn't bother me at all, the game's story is worse than the first one and nothing will change this.

    A game with an ugly heart filled with horrible and unlikable social justice characters. Truly we live in an age where beauty must be destroyed. People expected this to be great. Well done Naughty Dog. You successfully "subverted expectations". It's terrible.

    If you only liked the initial last of us game for gameplay then this will probably be fine for you. If you cared at least one bit about the story or the original characters from the first game then I would save $60, better off watching a playthrough on twitch or youtube.

    Gameplay has improved over the last game but the story is where all it went wrong. After playing for 20 hours I felt very angry at the story. In a narrative-driven linear game, the story matters the most and this is why The Last of Us Part 2 is a failed game. The developers in an attempt to create shock value and be so different than the last game failed to accomplish a good story.

    Whoever wrote this story must never played the first part.

They took and killed one of the protagonists of the first part of the game, and put another in his place. It’s better to eliminate the heroine herself or her friend ...

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. while this game doesn't deserve a 0 out of 10 it sure as hell doesn't deserve to be praised as a masterpiece with all the flaws it has. to start with the things this game does right, it's a lot of fun to play, has a good soundtrack + sounddesign and has a great atmosphere. where this game fails however is it's flawed story. you can't expect me to enjoy playing a character for almost half of the game who kills one of the key figures of the first game just a few hours ago. they could have executed it better if that one moment that ruined Abby for me would have been far later in the game, at a point where i had the chance to create emotional attachment to her instead right at the beginning of the game. the awaited satisfying finale is also left out.

No, not all of the negative reviews here have to do with the developers' portrayal of "woke" characters, the narrative is genuinely horrendous. Its characters are handled atrociously (again, this has nothing to do with their "wokeness")and completely invalidate all development from the first game. Their decisions are entirely nonsensical and only occur because it is convenient to the plot. For example, Joel, a *hardened survivor* who frequently shows extreme caution in the first game, walks right into a room full of armed strangers and *tells them his name*, because the plot decided that Joel needed to be killed off for shock value in this scene. This game loves to throw mandatory, meaningless violence at the player for fruitless shock value and then *blame the player* as if they had any choice in the matter. For instance, in one scene the protagonist Ellie kills a medic woman who was sent on a mission. It has been frequently demonstrated that medics are extremely important in the world of The Last of Us, so of course this woman would be sent out in the open without a second thought, because the game needs to show how bloodthirsty Ellie is! Oh, and did I mention that this woman is *pregnant* as well? It makes absolutely no sense and only serves to make the player feel bad when Ellie kills her. But in my opinion, the absolute worst part of this game is Abby. No one cares about Abby. No one asked to play as her for half the game, and yet that is what you are forced to do, and it is very badly handled. Abby is an absolutely irredeemable character; she has taken everything from Ellie. And yet the game constantly tries to make you feel as though Ellie is the antagonist of this story. Her character is so uninteresting and is only made worse when she attempts to steal the role of protagonist. The ending is also terrible. Ellie, after slaughtering countless innocents, decides to spare Abby *right after trying to kill her* because she once forgave Joel for something terrible as well. I am not making this up. Abby gets away with no consequences, and Ellie is left with no family, no friends, and a serious injury. There are no words to describe how awful this plot is.… Expand

To be honest if part 1 was Modern Family, part 2 is throwing that series into the Walking Dead and killing off years worth of character development. The problem here is not the SJW or whatever people are screaming about. If TLoU part 1 was praised for story, character building, graphics and animation, part 2 will be praised for its graphics and animation only.

    The gameplay feels old. Yes you have an uncharted 4 rope mechanic at times and you can utilize your environment a bit more (under cars) but the actual gameplay, puzzles, etc seem like they were just refreshed for PS4. Was it a stylized choice? I’m not sure, I can see the argument but adding jump and dodge doesn’t seem like it’s breaking out on its own even for this world.

    The graphics and animation are simply superb, I can’t stress enough how good it runs and the prowess of ND developers are in this regard even on PS4 Slim.

    What makes the outrage so big in this game is that Naughty Dog took what made the first game so special and killed it off. Both the story, character development and pacing are not up to the same standard as the first game.

    It’s a shame this is the route they took, there were all sorts of possibilities and I feel this was one of the worst ways to go.

    That said, the multiplayer on PS5 if it happens will be amazing and I hope Naughty Dog rebounds for the eventual DLC.    … Expand

    The characters we loves just aren't their true selves anymore, they force you to play as the killer of one of the main protagonist (which honestly i have 0 interest in doing) and they ruin an entire franchise for some crap sjw propaganda.

    I just wanted to play a game which i loved growing up just to be told a giant F*** U by the Devs.

    I just don't like Neil Druckmann and how he thinks that he is so much better than anyone else because of his new-found ideology. He needs to grow up and realize that boasting about being 'woke' is an immature thing to do. Also after hearing about how the people working at Naughty Dog were treated I had to do my part in giving Naughty Dog what they deserved.

    Sometimes you have to take risks to make changes to the story of a game and make it more interesting, but this time the change made the story worse,The Last of us, which for me was the best game in story mode of all time, introduced new characters that were atrocious ruining a video game that was excellent.

    Played the game for 5 hours. Already worth the price. Feels like a next generation, and sets the bar for pushing gaming forwards. People seem to be upset regarding a spoiler in the story, it adds to the emotionally driven story telling.

    Anyone giving this game under a 7 is a hurt fanboy. Buy it.

Unfortunately they are all held back by an extremely poorly conceived plot that is creating backlash due to false advertising.

    Initially this game was marketed as a continuation of the journeys and character growth for Ellie and Joel. This was done by manipulating existing scenes in trailers, etc. The reality is Joel dies two hours in, you then spend 8 hours hunting down his murderer and then 8 hours as his murderer in a interlacing 3 days before ultimately coming to the conclusion that an eye for an eye would leave us all blind and it is important to forgive and sparing said murderer. A thing many of us already understand.

    The plot as a result comes across as extremely pretentious, preachy, and borderline misery porn as everything is slowly stripped away from the characters we came to love in The Last Of Us.

    Which is a shame because the social justice elements were handled very tactfully for the most part, but will likely result in hindering the causes more than helping them.

    The gameplay is a bit stale but still enjoyable as ever, little innovation is done regarding enemies however the improved ai and brutality make for a great improvement on the original.

    That said at the end of the day this is a game that will likely leave you saying why did I bother spending money on this or even bother playing it? No amount of gameplay can ever make up for that. As a result I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to anyone.    … Expand

Even then, what you are left with is a game that is stunning to look at but is nothing really special to play. Without detailing specifics, I can see why people from every community have expressed concern about the characters. Representation and accurate diversity is important in these times. This review will probably get taken down do to Naughty Dog and Sony’s extreme tactics against criticism on YouTube and twitter but will see what happens. Played it early by setting my time forward. The story is generic and is extremely trivial and by the 15 hour mark you will be asking “What is the point?” Your characters actions reflect nothing of the emotions state your character is in during the actual plot. You murder 2 people and are crying over it but just 2 minutes ago you ran through a room slitting the throats of a dozen people. That kind of disconnect wasn’t in the first one. In the first game Joel wasn’t proud of what he done but he knew it needed to be done. You start off the game as Ellie but after Joel is killed you switch to Abby following her story of “regret”. Fast forward to an Anti Climatic and easy to call fight Abby beats up Ellie and Dina then goes to kill the pregnant Dina but the kid Abby is with says no then they piss off. Fast forward a year and Ellie still wants revenge and they somehow track Abby to Seattle. Ellie goes to leave and Dina says “If you leave we won’t be here if you return”. Sure enough our protagonist leaves and goes on a quest to kill Abby. What follows is a mind numbing boring quest to get to the end. Once there we face off against Abby only to not kill her. Abby rides away with Levi and when Ellie returns sure enough Dina is gone. Price of Revenge I guess

    If you want a good revenge plot I will save you 40 dollars. Go on steam buy Mass Effect 2 with the Price of Revenge And Lair of the Shadow Broker DLCs and there you got two good stories plus a 30 hour game.

    We shouldn’t judge this game on Graphics. They are great but it’s why this isn’t a zero. It’s a complete slap in the face to anyone who likes the original.    … Expand

    И о боже, меня заставил переживать уже 3 трейлер, посмотрев который я начал сомневаться в главных героях (и новых в том числе) и в теме нового сюжета (которая совершенно не соответствует 1 части). Потом 4 трейлер... Я заволновался сильнее. И потом бац, утечка спойлеров, которые я к сожалению увидел. В них не было ничего хорошего. Потом обзоры от отечественных критиков, которые как один обсуждали одну из самых больных тем игровой индустрии, которая возникла в этой игре. И под конец я понял, что тут действително все довольно плохо. Теперь к самой игре: тут все просто ужасно. Один из самых амбициозных эксклюзивов имеет посредственный сюжет, устаревшие игровые механики и нудный, приедающийся геймплей. Даже расхваленная графика местами дает серьезные сбои. Уровни сложности сами себя не оправдывают, ведь если играть не на самом последнем, то вы считай в какую-то другую игру играете. Сюжет с самого начала мне не нравился, но я ждал, может что-то изменится, но нет, ведь в середине игры разработчики ее просто решили уничтожить, заодно похоронив то, что дала нам первая часть. Абсурдность второго персонажа переходит все границы, она ужасна от слова совсем. Ее присутствие в игре никак не вяжется с тем, что для 2 части действительно важно. Я не буду вдаваться в подробности, но плох почти каждый аспект нового сюжета. В конце отдельно хочу упомянуть аномальное количество сильных женщин - ну это абсурд, как их сила и навыки, так и само количество женщин. Так же решили уделить внимание различным меньшинствам, даже не знаю как к этому отнестись, скорее нейтрально, но будто вместо стараний над сюжетом разработчики старались раскрыть тему меньшинств.
