Intense game with fantastic graphics, deep characters and a well thought out backdrop. The game world evolved & expanded, so will the characters. In a savage world where violence is common place it is futile grounds for tragedy, which include death of characters fan love.

Brutal, beautiful. A story told as never before. It takes courage to make a game like this one and that is what we need in this industry. The Last of Us world is not happy, it never was and it couldn't be. It's real and unforgiving.

First of all, my honest score to this game would be a 4 or 5 out of 10. But Last Of Us Part 2 wasn't supposed to be a game that could disappoint it's fans, and it did JUST THAT. You know how it goes, the scenario just sucks. Disappointing. I'm just heartbroken to give this score, because of it's stupid story.

Its the same gameplay with no new micanics really , its just more fluid , with no puzzle solving or anything . through out the game you will found big areas to explore but other then collectibles or finding ammo and scraps etc , they are empty with no side quest ( the big areas are like the ones one metro exudus or gears 5 ) but its become more boring on the second half of the game that you really start to hate the game and just want to finnish it because you really experience every thing ( other then the burning part which was very cool ) . Personally I found it repetitive .

**World : the world is the strongest point of this game its beautiful and raw , you will found note through out the world that tell you the story of the people of this world . There is a lot of places in the game that you will found yourself just wanting to take a picture and share it , it this kind of a game

** Graphics : is next gen level , for me the thing that strike me is the animation of the faces and combat animation . There is really nothing to say about the graphics other then it very good and what to expact form naughty dog , the game works very well on the base ps4 and ps4 pro (1080p /30fps on ps4 , 1440p/30fps on ps4 pro )

** The story : this is the most controversial point of this game and the weakest aspect in my opinion , the story start in the first 30 min or soo with good start but after one major event the story become expected the dialogues between character is most of the part boring ( other then the ones between joel and Ellie ) don't get me wrong there is moments of the story that are good but they are very few of them , the second half of the game is its biggest problem of this game , the game wants you understand and sympathize with other characters and with that make the first game as if it does not exist the new characters are boring and there motivation are vague for the most part . I didn't like the story i tried to but I couldn't .

Conclusion : this game did a lot of wrong Choices especially on the story with a few good things this game could've been save if didn't add the second half of the game and " the killing is bad " message , when TLOU2 raveled I expected more , far more then what I get from it. . it's a good game (7.5/10) but as a sequal is bad and make no consideration of the first one , there is more to say about this game but I tried to keep it spoiler-free .

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The story is fantastic, in spite of what you likely have heard. The main reason I give it a 9/10 is that certain aspects of the gameplay loop feel dated (loot, scavenge, craft, repeat). However, the gameplay is still a lot of fun and the mechanics are greatly improved over the original. Give this game a try, don't listen to triggered little gamer review bombers.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us part 2 is a great game. The story is memorable and different, the new characters and groups are interesting and Ellie's character is well developed through her relationships with Dina and Joel. The combat and graphics have also improved massively from the previous game. I can understand legitimate complaints such as the amount of time you have to play as Abby or that the ending is a bit of an anti-climax I do agree that the final fight between Ellie and Abby does originally leave you feeling robbed but the final scenes of Ellie and Joel are incredibly emotional which does make up for it. However its irritating to see that the majority of the negative reviews on the game are either just people making thinly veiled attempts to hide the fact they didn't like the game because their favorite character died or people complaining about 'SJW bs being rubbed in their face' which is really just code for 'wOmEn AnD LGBTQ+ pEoPlE bAd'. Overall its a great game and well worth the 25 hours of game time. Expand

If you think the story is "just another revenge story" or "the ending was pointless," then you absolutely missed the whole point of the game. And you probably missed it because the well was already poisoned and you were trying to make it fit into one of those unoriginal revenge stories. It's unoriginal, yet people are mad cause it didn't end the way "it should have." Give me a break. Don't want to spoil this game anymore than it already has been, but definitely worth a play. The first game's story is also better, but this game does something no other game has done, and young gamers didn't know how to feel about it. Just play it! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While I love the gameplay and the scenery throughout the game. However, I cannot even focus on the gameplay because there is an overwhelming push to MAKE SURE you know Ellie is now a lesbian. You can’t even properly mourn the death of one of the best characters we’ve seen in a game in years. Joel is killed early, which is fine because I get the strategy of killing off a beloved character, much like Ned in GOT. However, you then have to deal with lgbt-etc.-etc. propaganda shoved down your throat while just trying to enjoy a good game. I just got into Seattle and Ellie just had yet another “romantic” ordeal with her lesbian “groupie” and I’m seriously thinking about just quitting now. I absolutely do not care for their agenda that every TVs show, movie, and now game wants to try and force you to see as something that’s normal. It’s not. If it was normal it wouldn’t have to get pushed so hard into our faces every chance they get. So good job on ruining a good game. It’s disheartening because of how beloved the first was. Extremely unfortunate. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m unsure why people are so enraged by this game. I get that we all have different opinions of a game but I thought this game was just as good, and better as the first on all components. I refused to look at the spoilers, I heard about the leaks but no details, I predicted Joel’s death from the beginning but not how he died, but was unbothered with how he died. He became a softer man now having his pseudo-daughter back, more trusting because of the safety of family. Why wouldn’t he help someone when that is what Jackson was doing for the past four years. The one thing I understand is the story telling complaint... however I am still in love with the story. I watched a review video that explaining well, it seems as though when you fight Ellie as Abby that the climax most literally drops off and flattens out. Then up and down up and down after that. Yes that is not a traditional story arc, but I am not annoyed by that. My opinion is that while yes while you play as Abby, there really isn’t any climactic mission like Ellie, but the idea that Abby has absolutely no idea Ellie is out there after her. For me that is an interesting story line, again though not perfect, I still enjoyed it. Everyone’s opinion is different, but I simply do it understand the intense hatred of this game. I love it still. Expand

He had it difficult but he has tried and I doubt if he has succeeded, tlou ii more overrated than the first part of tlou.

Graphically and technically it is superior to the first as expected but it repeats many of its mistakes and brings some new ones.

The most remarkable thing is everything that has surrounded the game. The story was totally chosen in a conscious way so that no one in the press could criticize it and treat everyone who said something bad about the game even without talking about the story or being a fan of the first part, as a homophobe, Nazi and scum. Even Neil Druckmann He called all those who did not vote for his game at the goty awards haters and what is worse, he tried to crunch his workers as normal and the awards didn't punish him for that as they did other years with other games.

A shame that it is the most awarded game in history, but remember that Titanic is the most awarded or most awarded movie in history and does anyone really consider it the best movie?

The graphics is the best it has but it is not the top of the generation. It is also a linear game so you can focus on the characters and details of their mapping that appear on the screen, everything that the player sees is much more controlled than in open worlds that also have to create much more map, dynamic weather, more objects on screen, characters, etc ...

The sound of the game is bad as it was in the first part. When you move away from other characters you will stop hearing him, if you use headphones the sound is poorly implemented
and it is not known which side it comes from. the b.s.o. it is simple and boring. It does not stand out in practically anything.

The i.a. it is very poor like the one in the first part. Keep having errors such as an enemy seeing your ally and not detecting him yet by dragging him across the stage and your ally doesn't see it either and it's not a bug, I've seen it several times. even on youtube there are gameplay videos where you see it and the youtuber makes nothing happen. The press and fans are able to make a bug incredible as it was recently said that it can catch bullets out of the air and it was very realistic when in fact it was a bug or bad animation of Ellie that when indicating that she took the ammunition of a fallen enemy,

He stretches his arm so that it seems to pick up something from the air but it is not. The objects that are collected by the map are transferred to the hands of the protagonist and here the same thing happened, only he used the other hand because there was a table on the other side and it seemed that it was picking up the bullets from the air. And if so, it would not make sense, since the bullets do not remain floating in the air.

The facial animations are quite good but everything breaks when you see that the character moves so strangely trying to always turn his back to the camera, moving in the most unrealistic way possible when walking backwards and to the sides, something that you see almost all the time and it takes you out of the game.

The physics of the fire, of the horse, make you laugh. They also lied even after releasing the game with which we would be sorry to kill the enemies and and these would feel pity for his fallen comrades and that the protagonists would have a unique and revolutionary heart and breathing system, when they never get tired and that has been seen in other games much more elaborate. He continues to abuse his mechanics like the first part and the new mechanics are simple and bland, he does not much more depth.

The story is bad, it was already the first part with a bad narrative and few and bad dialogues, worthy of a series b movie. They got tired in the middle and he tells us the same thing from the other side, with a decision for one of the insulting characters. And another character that they forgot in the trailers and are even ashamed of him but use it to accuse others of their insecurities and complexes.
They spend the whole game with violence and revenge but later they tell you that both are bad. It's a bad thing but you have based your game on that because you know it sells and you will do it again in your next game. Many fans who shouted that the first part is the best game ever and this has disappointed them have been ridiculed by Neil, other fans and the press for thinking differently even without naming anything controversial about the story, I hope they at least realize that there is actually behind the whole fanaticism with naughty dog and in the end those end up being the least tolerant with those who think differently from them, hypocrisy. They are the most
    intolerant.

It seems to me a shame that this type of games with lack of respect on the part of the study and fans to the players succeed (Not so much in sales) This does not advance the video game industry, only for the convenience of a few this game is awarded.

It's entire purpose is to do what it's not supposed to and it's so irritating. I get what they were going for, and they did it well, but they needed to ask themselves "should we do this" and the answer is "NO". The very first line of text from Ellies mouth is "it was just a kiss" talking about a lesbian relationship. Instead of actual survival, it seems the entire purpose of this game is to virtue signal and shove political viewpoints down people's throats in the form of entertainment. None of the story actually makes sense. Characters die in the most ridiculous ways. It plays like an updated last of us, but the ending has to be the absolute worst ending of any game I've ever played. It leaves you angry. It doesn't leave you satisfied.

The ending to this game... The entire story... It has to be the most forced and awful writing I have EVER witnessed... And it's such a shame because artistically, this game is probably one of the most jaw dropping and engaging games I've ever played... But when a cutscene is what makes you quit the game, not a bug or bs difficulty... But just sheer annoyance with the story... There's a MAJOR problem. Naughty Dog has gone full on politics on a game where governments don't even exist. It's time to stop.

I certainly loved the first game, but after 7 years of waiting, when I finally finished the Part 2, I realized, although it has one of the best graphics of all time, but undoubtedly is a piece of trash from the point of storytelling and a completely time-wasting experience، and I wish it never existed...

Abby’s dad did not want Abby to kill Joel for revenge instead he wanted her to live a happy life with Owen and Joel has that same mindset, Joel didn't want Ellie to kill Abby, he wanted Ellie to live a happy life with Dina. I just want people to get that and stop being biased and realize that The Last Of Us Part II had a really great story :) Expand

Garbage narrative, garbage story direction. It undermines and ruins the legacy of the first game. The graphics and gameplay are amazing but that can’t save the game. Heck, you wouldn’t buy shiny, new state of the art golf clubs if you lived in Antarctica would you? What’s the point

An incredible game. Naughty dog has once again blown my mind. Ignore the trolls ignore the haters and ignore the hate wagon. This game is a masterpiece it deserves goty especially glad that it is the most awarded game of all time. Probably the only game in existence that had my heart pumping story moments and gameplay.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played this game with very low expectations due to the review bombing that suffered. I should've known better, the game is really good. Not 9 or 10 good, but good nevertheless.

The story and plot is compelling if you bother in having an open mind and try to understand. The game-play is way better than in the first one and also is the level design.

Why people in this comments keeps repeating the nonsense of Joel being out of character and entering Abby's gang hideout? He is no longer a survivor, he lived safe and comfy in Jackson for 4+ years already. Plus he is old. Just pay attention to the story and stop whining.

The story is great, makes you feel miserable, yes, but that is not manipulation. Plenty of other stories in other media and in games try to achieve the same. And that is great! You cannot just rate 0, 1 or 2 a game because it was not the cliche story with good vs evil. It is a very humane story, we are all good and evil.

Graphics, acting and music are top notch.

    My complains:

The secondary characters are my only real problem. They all are quite empty and shallow, with maybe the exception of Lev. (-1)

Game-play: well, this is nothing new, even improved from the first game, in the second it is still quite repetitive. It actually helped that Abby and Ellie had different weapons and styles to approach conflict. But still. They should have approached the game with more open-city like in the beginning, it would've been much better (-1)

Companies should stop f***ing up their employees. With happy employees you get higher quality products. With crunched employees your projects get delayed and they suffer in quality (-1)

Patch it for PS5 please! it was even slower and lower quality than in PS4-pro, i will definitely play it again and go for platinum when that happens. (this does not subtract)

    My review about salty reviewers:

    - they are not open minded, hence they don't understand the story. You don't decide the story, writers do.
    - I have the feeling that having the 2 main characters being strong women made many kb warriors salty.
    - false advertisement claims are nonsense. A game isn't finished until they go gold. Everything before is just work in progress subject to change.
    - developers owe us nothing as fans, period. You don't like it? don't buy it. I am pretty sure that at least 40% of the negative reviews are just kb-warriors trolling.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. bit late for this review but i realised i should write something to atleast vent, and so i think the only way to describe this game is depressing and this game did to the last of us series what season 8 of game of thrones did to that series, everything that made the series good was stripped and the charcters that we loved from the first game got treated like trash cause "reasons" like cmon if you wanted a female lead just use ellie dont make us play this new trash charcter WHO JUST MURDERS BLOODY JOEL LIKE AN ANIMAL and yet we are supposed to like her realy, and if thats not even the worst of it ellie another beloved charcter gets treated like crap cause revenge is bad for her, yet for abby nah its all good nice message there, i truly dont give a flying f if they wanted to change protags and have a female lead but use the one people loved ie ellie everyone would have praised that, or hell if you wanted to have this new charcter have us actully grow to like her before you have her murder joel so then youd actully get that "crap whos in the right" if you did that i may have still been excited for a 3rd game

now moving away from the points already said a million times, the games story is nothing but a damm slog from depressing to depressing with zero levity, and in the end the game leaves you hollow to the point you dont want another game, the charcters are terrible and some are generic, our new "hero" is just bland she does nothing that makes her intresting well other then murdering joel o and having the cringeist sex scene i have ever seen and thats saying alot, i mean this **** as much as defenders claim aint sexual cause it aint p--no style are lieing cause you see full nudity and thrusting sure you dont see the bottom half but you can still see whas happening without that

ill admit this game did atleast add more when it came to the gameplay so ill give it a point there but to be honest its basiclly adding onto somthing that was already decent so id givve half a point if i could, though should add the ai was weird somtimes it was great, other times it was as dumb as rocks, and i guess well make the other half be if you make your own fun it can be enjoyable i know i had fun hullk smashing with bodybuilder abbys arms

so in summary this is a **** game, its story is terrible, the charcters are trash and downright insulting, the gameplay is slightly improved but not by much, and graphics are ok, and it defintly didnt deserve the rewards it got, and honesty the last of us is only a single game the first one thats where the series ends, this game deserves to go in only 1 place the trash,do not play this game unless you like getting your balls kicked

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There’s so many narrative issues. Abby isn’t a good character. She shows no remorse for her friends deaths, other than Owens I guess. She doesn’t care about anyone but Lev. She’s extremely dislikeable and it’s so obvious in the writers manipulation to get the audience to like her in her storyline. Her storyline consists of side missions basically.. Getting medicine to amputate an arm???? Going off to rescue a transgender boy confronting his mom?? What the **** Who gives a **** My problem isn’t with Joel dying. It’s how he died. It wasn’t deserved or earned. It’s obvious the writers should’ve worked in a different way of killing him because clearly, with all the backlash, they didn’t do it right. Great graphics and gameplay but that story sucks man. And oh my god, why is there a pregnant **** running around in the apocalypse?? Dina is about as interesting and engaging as watching paint dry. All I know about her is she’s Bi and she’s a Jew. Jessie, Dina, and Yara are three throwaway characters. Jessie is there to be a dumbass and get Dina pregnant. Dina is there as a love interest. And Yara is there to get her arm cut off and mowed down with assault rifles. Abbys storyline is a waste of time running errands for characters who aren’t interesting. Lev is transgender, that’s great, he’s still boring damnit. Ellie has changed so much, part of that I can understand as it’s been a few years and she’s grown up. But man she is just a sad, boring mess. Only reason I cared about her is because I consistently reminded myself why I liked her in the first game. The portions with Joel and Ellie were perfect and it all worked. I don’t know why they couldn’t have just made that Part II and have this story as part III. This entire game blows. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was excited for this sequel. I saw the gameplay and I was hooked. It was an evolution of what come before in The Last of Us: Part 1 [retroactively]. I have no qualms with the gameplay. I think the mechanics are fine. I love the addition of the prone position to crawl under cars for stealth which also further supports the AI mechanics to check under cars. A dodge button is nice for close combat. I'm waiting on the multiplayer at this point. Sadly, that's where my praise for this game ends. It is a meandering incoherent mess. It's narrative is phenomenally trash. I honestly have no idea how this got approved by anyone. Neil said he had thought about the story for two years before he was ready "to make sure it was a story worth telling as a sequel to the original The Last of Us." It is a failure. It says it's a different game, but it does the same thing. Kills a character in the beginning of the game. It just takes two hours opposed to half an hour in the original game. I only played five minutes of horse riding as said future dead character, but it's fine since we played as said character throughout the entirety of the original game. Sure, that is true. The difference is said character experienced a time skip. I don't know how this person changed. How am I supposed to believe the situations they are placed in? "Oh, don't worry. It will be explained at the end of the game.", says Neil Druckmann. Which is a lackluster scene since context of two characters conversation of said previous night's "confrontation" was discussed and anyone and everyone can assume what happened. Also, we saw most of the scene in the E3 church trailer. For some reason, Neil thought it was a good idea to take those scenes and splice them throughout the game. It's incoherent. Neil wants me to like characters that I just met with random weaknesses to make them seem human, yet I don't care about any of them. Not even characters from the first game. I don't care about Joel, Ellie, Tommy, or Maria. The game didn't give me time nor did it take adequate time to make me care. It's wake up. Grab knife. Grab bag. Leave for patrol. We meet and get a shallow understanding of some people, but the narrative is so focused on rushing to Joel's death I can't experience the world or the characters. It didn't let me sit and stew with these people. Nah. Kill Joel. Small couple of scenes of the aftermath. Smash cut to Seattle. Somehow didn't face any issues getting to Seattle. We just get dropped into a wide sandbox area. It's an odd situation this game placed itself in. I think this is due to the praise Neil received for his first game. I assume he thought he could do whatever he wanted and it would be good, but the issue is The Last of Us did a good job of setting up the tropes of their game. Lemme throw another comparison your way. "Oh, baby girl." is a sentence Joel says after he finds Ellie dicing David's head with a machete. This is a moment of acceptance for Joel. He accepts her as his family. As a daughter. Abby tries to do the same thing. She says, "You're my people." to Lev. Which makes little sense since they have know each other for approximately a single day. It isn't poignant because Abby wasn't resisting as Joel did. Abby felt guilt and was like yeah. This will absolve me of my guilt. It's an torturous game to trudge through. Arduous. I thought it was odd when some fans were saying, "Don't make a sequel to The Last of Us. Don't ruin such a great game." We all should have listened. It's unfortunate, but this is the reality we live in. A sequel to a unanimously praised game is phenomenally divisive. Can a game where half of the audience doesn't think it's good truly be called a good game. What does my perspective matter? I'm just another dumb virgin gamer. It's not like I have an actual degree in writing. Expand

The mechanics feel good and the crafting feels better then ever however I feel that crafting cost way too materials you need to have I only managed to craft very few things in the very long run time and it was very annoying having to start again with different weapons

Now the game play gun mechanics are smooth its so satisfying to beat a solider to death with a crowbar and blow off someone head with a shotgun BUT the encounters are very repetitive and the design is very confusing and aggravating. The infected are just terrifying I always try my best to be stealthy around them. One last thing is that I think that it was very idiotic for Naughty Dog to not give us a full auto gun until the end of the game AGAIN but overall I liked the game-play and It is much better then the first one
    Overall 8/10.

Now The Story........ buckle up because I have a lot to say about this

In my completely Bias opinion the story is a complete DISASTER insulting the first one everyone adored with all their hearts while giving us character I COULD NOT GIVE A **** ABOUT

where do I start where do I even begin I know lets start of with the greatest insult Joel and how he is handled instead of giving him an emotional send off like he deserves we decide to just ****ing beat him to death with a ****ing GOLF CLUB like not even just shooting him and being done And I will talk about the person who did this later

The main reason this game failed was of the structure and how embarrassing it is who taught it would be a good idea to play halfway of the game as Ellie and then decide to play the next half as Abby like are you ****ing kidding me

we are going to talk about Ellie my favorite character of this **** while she is nothing like she used to be she definitely has the best ark of her slowly losing her herself the deeper she goes into to Seattle and if the story put that as there main focus this review would of been a lot different BUT when you have TEN HOURS of ****ing dumb ass Abby **** you really begin to lose interest in well...... just about everything still...... of the game saves it from being the worst game story I have ever experienced.

Now...... we come to Abby the bane of my existence now before we come to tearing her apart I will give naughty dog points for even trying to get you to sympathize with her but they did it so badly and the main reason is that Abby never shows any remorse for killing Joel so how are we supposed to sympathize with her if she is never sorry for her bad action and yeah you could say " well Joel stopped the fireflies from creating a cure to save Ellie and never felt sorry " the big difference is that Joel killed out of love Abby did for Revenge and once again you could say "Ellie killed for revenge just as Abby did" however Ellie does show remorse for the people she killed and Abby didn't and her story is so boring but that not the character Abby's fault its something far worse...........

Now we come to the side character and they are terrible Dina is okay I guess but she does not interest me more then a horse buddy I can't tell you a damn thing about Jesse because he is not given enough character development, I really thought Tommy would be a huge part of the game but if you removed him there would be no difference, Lev and Yara are the worst characters I have ever played in a video game they are so boring and annoying constantly wasting your time one of them is a tranny imagine being in a Zombie apocalypse and being like "I'm gonna just change my gender" I never forgot Sam and Henry, Bill, Tess and Tommy I forgot most of these ****ers names the minute I finished this embarrassment

The tone of this game is just mindless depression I always felt so disappointed while playing it felt like a Abby entire story line feels like a way to long walking dead episode while the first half i wasn't sure what to make of it the second half I just felt dead just wanting to finish the finish truly just disappointed

Some people think it a masterpiece some people think it strayed to far from its roots, me... I just think its **** I would of liked a depressing story but they ruined it with bad structure characters (apart from Ellie)
and so many plot holes the ending is insulting and dumb and all of you high and mighty **** who think people who don't like the game are just Bigots you are IDIOTS naughty dog has a lot of work to do to save this franchise

lowest ranking was in Abby Seattle day 1 was a two and the highest was in Ellie's Seattle day 2 was a seven but overall 4/10 And that being generous

I have never played this game because I can't afford a ps4 but I loved the first one which I played on my friends ps3 it was easily the best game I had ever played then 7 years later naughty dog release a sequel which many of us did not see coming and I dodged all the spoilers I could and tried to play it on an emulator tried buying the ps4 but nothing really worked so I decided to just watch the playthrough on youtube it felt magical the game looked phenomenal as I got to the second part of the playthrough I was devastated to see Joel die so I just stopped watching it for 2 weeks but I couldn't stop and wanted to see Ellie kill Abby but as Ellie killed all of Abby's friends and was selfish and blind towards Dina and peoples feelings around her I couldn't differentiate between Abby and Ellie. Ellie killed people Abby loved and Abby killed a person who we loved so I couldn't see the difference between Ellie and Abby and I personally think that this is where naughty dog wanted us to feel. they wanted us the feel the rage towards Abby and when they swapped characters' naughty dog wanted us to be confused about feeling guilt and anger for Abby. When Abby meets Yara and lev, Abby becomes levs guide or mentor or a father figure like Joel was for Ellie in the first game, the way Joel was seeking forgiveness and redemption from his past the same way Abby was too. She was also seeking forgiveness and redemption for what she did to Joel we can see that on her facial expression when she killed Joel she looked like her dad wasn't avenged she felt empty and unsatisfied by what she did. Last Of Us 2 is a Technical Marvel from a both gamers and critics perspective I personally think that lou2 is easily the best looking game out there. if you haven't played last of us 2 please do it is the best game I have watched someone else play. Naughty Dog made an awesome work here, but it isn't a game that everyone will like. This is a complex game with a complex story. It's an apocallypse, people dies like nothing, doesn't have a right or bad side, there isn't a good end.
The Last Of Us Part II picked up all the good mechanics of the first game and made them better in this sequence.
When I was playing it for the first time I was like in a rollercoaster of emotions. This game made me laugh, cry and be thinking about what just happened.
When Joel died, I looked for revenge against Abby, I just wanted to kill her and all her friends because of what she did with our protagonist. But the game mades you feel bad and understand Abby's reason. It is an apocallypse like I said before, people are bad, they kill and die for nothing, and it's this that the last of us brings to the player.
Ellie's development was a little complicated to understand, we would do the same of she if we where Ellie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok so let me get this straight. Even if you did not like the story, it is delusional to rate this game with less than a 5. People rating this game with 0 or 1 at this point just look like kids throwing a temper tantrum over the death of Joel or the path that Ellie takes this game. And even as a big fan of the first game I even find worrying the fact you would even get emotionally attached to him when he is a smuggler, he tortured people, killed inocents, etc. Don't get me wrong, he is a fantastic character, but treating him as some kind of hero or getting upset about his death? Nah...
So anyways, the visuals in this game are outstanding (9/10). The OST while not as memorable as the first game's is still decent (7/10). The gameplay is a step up in every sense compared to the first game (new enemies, new mechanics) and the game is overall really fun to play (10/10).
I personally think that the story and the narrative are spectacular (10/10). I had never experienced something like this while playing a videogame. I think Abby as a character is really clever because at first you think she is some kind of villain but then you realize that she is basically a "better Ellie" in the sense that all his motives are "more justified" (she seeks revenge for the death of her father, which was an innocent who tried to save humanity, while Ellie seeks revenge for Joel that, well...) so it puts the player on a difficult spot in which you think that you are playing as the villain, but then you are actually not, and then when you get the full picture you get the same feeling in Santa Barbara playing as Ellie, and this time you know for certain that you are the "villain". The fact that the story is told on a "Left Behind" style, going back and forth in time, was also really cool. And there are some others really cool new characters such as Dina or Lev, which I think are really complex considering they are secondary characters.

    Story 0/10

I really wanted to like this game, but:
I'm such disappointed. De-Installed the game, right after IT happened.

There are also too many main characters, which feels a bit confusing.
In the first part, there are "Ellie and Joel against the world". This was really good. But now..

It has also quite similarities to the story and feeling of "the walking dead".
First against zombies and the infection in general (good), then just against another (brutal) group and one of your favourite person died (not so good).

I'm sorry, but in Germany we would say:

I really loved this game. It took 37 h 37 min for me to finish the story. The length, systems, mechanics and gameplay are impressive. The final hours are unique and very touching. I am playing for the second time and enjoying every second of it.

Very very overhated. Half of the people here havent played it. I'll keep this short. The story is amazing, most people I see are simply angry that a fictional character died in a way they didn't like- not understanding that the point of such a death happens to get you mad. Well, whatever.

I gave the first game a 10, and this one a 9 because the first one is a love story and this one is more about violence and revenge. That doesn't mean the characters or the story aren't as good as the first one. Having the game reveal in it's early moments that this will not be a happy ending, it still manages to end in a (to me at least) logical and satisfactory outcome. Could this have been a happy rehash of the previous story? Yes, but it wouldn't be an original, heart wrenching masterpiece that it ended as. Not many games today leave you thinking and talking about them afterwards. I've actually suggested to my PC only friends to get a PS4 or PS5 just for this.
The gameplay is improved from the 1st title. The graphics are quite honestly the best I've ever seen. The soundtracks are beautiful. It's exciting and meaningful. A must play if you care about story in games.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2, disappointed me more than any other time in my gaming or movie-viewing life. Naughty Dog took what was a beautiful story, perhaps the best story in video game history in Part I, and absolutely destroyed it in Part II.

Within the first few minutes of part-two’s story, it becomes clear that corporate-pandering-leftism and shallow SJW virtue-signalling were used as its foundation. A stark contrast to the first game's bold, captivating story of transcendent human devotion in a hellish world.

Within minutes of starting part II, it becomes clear that the player is in for a narrative that manages to feel scolding, petulant, pretentious, overweening, fake all at the same time. The word “bigot”, a word all of us are pummeled by elsewhere in media nowadays, makes its appearance immediately and ridiculously. In this post apocalyptic world, wrought with anarchy, murder, poverty, where billions have perished from a horrifying pandemic, and the few individuals remaining are constantly fighting to survive, it's laughably absurd that "bigoted" name-calling would even be a concern.

Then, the previously-ambiguous sexuality of Ellie is proclaimed to be lesbianism, about as subtly as a lead pipe bashing a clicker's skull. Are we in for another powerful, transcendent, inspiring, complex love story? Not quite. Ellie steals the pregnant girlfriend (Dina) of one of the few cis males in the game who isn’t immediately killed off (but is metaphorically castrated and eventually killed off). Their relationship feels sleazy, as they unapologetically cuckolded Jesse, and is as tepid and irrelevant to the story as Dina's character is.

Ellie and Dina smoke a joint and have sex in a dead guy's drug den. Cool.

Throughout the game, we're constantly reminded that Ellie is a lesbian, in a way that feels inauthentic. In a way that feels like they inserted this into the story just to quiet pay-to-complain Buzzfeed game critics and SJW trolls who do anything for a pat on the head. Uninteresting, patronizing, shallow corporate virtue-signalling for money.

Naughty Dog changed Ellie from a warm, capable, feminine teenage girl—who ogled pictures of naked men in Bill’s XXX magazine and had an innocent relationship with a boy in part one—to a cold, hollow stereotype of B-movie girl-power feminism with a lesbian sexuality that we are reminded of constantly. It doesn’t feel at all authentic, it doesn’t jive with her character in previous games (even while taking the Riley story into account) and it feels like a ploy by a virtue-signaling business to make money off of a bummer political climate.

We play games to have fun and to appreciate their artistic elements--not to be *told* what to think and how to feel.

Joel, a redeemed father figure, with a complex, brooding backstory and a heart-warming platonic relationship with Ellie in part one, gets minimal play before he is brutally murdered in part two. Ellie’s part-one version of her character, who we loved so much is removed from the story, while Joel is removed altogether.

Who is our replacement for Joel? Perhaps another positive, masculine, cis male character who exemplifies traditional male virtue as Joel did?

Nope. We get Abby, a horrible individual who seems fake and concocted. We’re told she is female, puzzlingly enough, despite resembling Dolph Ziggler with a ponytail. She has an ambiguous gender at best, and is completely unrealistic at worst. She is an offensive, unapologetic LGBTQ/girl-power caricature, forced into the story. Her arms are even larger than Rhonda Rousey's. The player is forced to play as her, after she does abhorrent things to the characters we love. Thanks.

The cringe in this game is thick. The player is forced to view a graphic sex scene, that plays more like softcore pornography. Beyond being superfluous and an absolute cringe, this is again another sharp departure from the games we loved in the rest of the franchise.

The Last of Us Part I, is my favorite game of all time. I gave it a 10/10. I played it multiple times, including a complete replay on Grounded when I purchased the remastered version recently. The element that set this franchise apart, was its incredible story. Unfortunately, Naughty Dog ruined the story and managed to erase my love for this franchise altogether.

The Last of Us Part II. It is that bad. And frankly, as a software engineer myself, I find it even more disturbing that Naughty Dog treats its software developers poorly. Failing to be at all self-aware, they force all of this self-aggrandizing SJW nonsense upon us, scolding their customer base’s core demographic (cis males), while they treat the very people who did all of the work to make their product like slaves.

I don’t recommend purchasing this game, and I feel unethical for purchasing it myself after learning they treat their development team so exploitatively/disrespectfully.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2 is a well hated game by fans, and going into it, I didn't expect to have a lot of fun. I had heard so many terrible things, but was pleasantly surprised to find that most of the fans **** about the game were doing so because they didn't get what they wanted.

Graphically, TLoU2 looks beautiful. It shows off the maximum effort the PS4 can put out. The detail in the world is gritty and breathtaking, depressing and beautiful. Truly something special.

The story of TLoU2 took a beating by fans, but isn't bad by any stretch. Gritty realism has always been the tune Naughty Dog wanted to play with these games, and here they played it beautifully. In the beginning of the game, you meet the main character just after having a conflict with the man who serves as her father figure. The last moments they share together are harsh and angry. Ellie resents Joel for treating her like she needs to be protected, and Joel is struggling to let her be an adult after spending so much time needing to protect her.
Later, we find out Joel is missing, and when Ellie finds him, he is being brutally tortured to death. Naughty Dog pulled no punches, and forces you to watch in horror as the first game's protagonist is brutally beaten to death with a golf club as Ellie watches while screaming and crying. It made me drop my controller in shock. I had to pause the game and take a break when it was over. It was the most violent, disgusting, sad thing I had ever seen in a video game. Shortly before this scene, the game had you playing as Abby, the woman who eventually tricks and murders Joel.
Throughout the game, you continue to switch between Abby and Ellie, learning more about Abby's story and motivations for killing Joel (which I wont spoil here). Your anger towards her wanes, and you sympathize with all she's been through with her friends.
This part of the game is controversial, but I think added a layer that was not just refreshing, but a driving force for me. I wanted to keep playing so I could bring the two characters together for a final confrontation.

The end of the game sees Ellie track down a tired and beaten Abby. Abby has been captured by slavers and starved. She's been tortured, and weakened. She is in a state not unlike that of Joel's shortly before he died. Ellie finds her, and sees that she's been on her own journey. She's suffered like Ellie has, she's fought to protect people as Ellie has, she's survived in the same world and felt the same fears as Ellie has.
Ellie realizes, finally, that she has become the exact thing that her journey with Joel had saved him from. When Ellie and Joel meet in The Last of Us, Joel is a hardened survivor, uncaring and apathetic towards the plight of others. He's violent, an unashamed killer, and a gritty survivor. Protecting Ellie and traveling with her softened him. It gave him a new perspective, and a new appreciation for others. He loved her, and that love made him human again. She saved him.
Ellie's anger towards Abby has made her the very thing Joel spent years rehabilitating himself from. Joel had spent a long time after completing his journey with Ellie becoming an artist, teaching people guitar, farming, and being a part of a community. Ellie has spent all her time after his death running from all of that. She has become the very thing that Joel had fought to get away from, and in her last moments with Abby, she shows mercy. She knew that Joel did all of those things for her. He tempered his anger, his rage, his apathy, his instinct, for her. To give her a role model. To make her proud. So to honor his transformation, she does what he learned to do. She let go of the past and let Abby live.
It's beautiful, the more you think about it, but not the ending fans wanted.

What most fans didn't like about the game was the characters. Ellie is openly a lesbian, and in a relationship with a woman through the majority of the game. Ellie is a female protagonist, which some fans also didn't like. They wanted to play as Joel again. There was a transgender character, which some fans felt was too political.
I personally enjoyed and celebrate all of these choices. Diversity exists in the real world, and should be represented in our media as well. These characters and their identities are written extremely well and serve the plot well.

The gameplay of TLoU2 is amazing. The combat is tense, fun, and very addictive. I had fun replaying different combat scenarios, trying to outfox all the enemies so none of them even knew I was there before it was too late. The layout of the environments adds to a sense of urgency, practicality, curiosity, and cleverness that the game wants to draw out of the player. The amount of polish in the gameplay is purely unparalleled.

Overall, The Last of Us Part 2 is controversial, but nowhere near bad. It's an intense, fun game that overwhelms you in the best way possible.

    Parts that I liked:
    -Chasing Nora and killing her
-Tommy hunting Abby and Manny like The Terminator

The inconsistent and inauthentic writing of the characters, making frustrating decisions, in this game is really what really spoils the story's ability to captivate the player. Tragically, everything else about this game (graphics, music, acting, animations) is fantastic, but the issues with the story are hard to avoid especially considering that this was why the first game was so successful.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
